The decor is nice. Making it feel more upscale. It had huge windows with a great view of the mountains! They've got chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and a giant fireplace. Excellent choice for lunch. Food is surprisingly good, especially the Asian station. We had an outstanding shrimp pad Thai with good wok hei. It might not be traditional but it was damn delicious. Other food options were more than acceptable, including large slices of pizza. Ramen was disappointing but mostly because of the small portion and lukewarm broth. Service is friendly and quick. Seating can be limited but that's standard during lunch rushes. On nicer days there are seats out front and on a patio out back, accessible through the dining room. I recently attended an event here and the location is out of this world. After a gondola ride to the top, you arrive to beautiful views. We saw this at night so I can only imagine how spectacular it is during the day. During the event, they had a few food options to snack on and I am still dreaming about the mini grilled cheeses. Good food and great bar at the top of Aspen Mountain. The bartender was really friendly and made me a Colorado Bulldog cocktail which is similar to a White Russian. It was really packed inside with people despite it being the start of the season, but I loved it and found a seat inside. It started snowing and that was quite the experience for me as a kid from Florida and SF. The French Dip was good. Fries nothing special. Next time I'd get the clam chowder just to see how it is. read more

Think this might be the only good option on the Aspen slopes. The big plus is the bathrooms are not downstairs. All these on slope lodges have the bathrooms downstairs make it hard with ski boots to get there. Food options were perfect. I had the tuna melt. Aspen is filled with locals and no kids. read more

This place is must visit and must try place. You are at 11200 feet high in the mountains and good tasting food as well. Unlike mid-vail , here food was pretty awesome. Both buffalo chicken sandwich and the cheese pizza were awesome. I was so tempted that even though stomach was full, I went and bought soup at end. Tried veggie delight chilly soup and was awesome as well. Altogether all 3 things which we tried were awesome. Take aspen mountain gondola and reach to the top in about 15-20 mins to try this when you visit Aspen. read more

Come here for the amazing views but expect average food and high prices. For two people, spending $50, we just had 2 mushroom-quinoa burgers with fries and a coconut water! The burgers were ok. Didn't really like the mushroom-quinoa patty which broke apart and made for a big mess trying to eat it. The fries were over cooked and cold by the time we got to our table. Service was bad as they were favoring certain tables and clearing their plates away while ours sat on the table until we left. If you are exhausted after skiing or snowshoeing, this place is conveniently located at the top of Aspen mountain so it's easy to stop by for a quick bite and a beer. However, I'd recommend stopping by for a drink only and to take pictures of the gorgeous views. read more

I'll be honest. Sundeck is a cafeteria. I think the food is on par with other cafeterias (in museums, etc.). The food is absolutely NOTHING to write home about. (I had a tuna melt, because I figured it's pretty hard to MESS that up. It was fine. Definitely not good, but not the worst thing I've eaten either!) HOWEVER...geez, is it beautiful up there. It is worth the gondola ride to grab a can of an Aspen Brewing Company beer and drink it outside on the patio of the restaurant. Seriously, there's nothing like it. Simply a gorgeous place to grab a bite or a beer or some wine. And...in the summer, you're surrounded by fun activities! Life size checkers and chess. A balancing beam thingy. Swings!!! Cornhole! So many games! Seriously, playing life size checkers or swinging at the top of Aspen Mountain looking down at the town is just a cool experience. After our long and strenuous hike on Ute Trail back in September, my friend and I wanted nothing more than to sink our teeth into a big, fat, juicy burger. What we found was very average but overpriced food. To our dismay, the burgers were dry and lackluster, but the fries were decent enough. We didn't mind that it was a simple burger, but at least get the simple burger right if you're going to charge that much! They didn't offer a wide variety of drinks (which, by the way, were overpriced as well). We took the gondola back down feeling a little defeated, but hey, at least the view was pretty. read more

This restaurant is very popular for tourist during the lunch time in both summer and winter. Although many locals eat lunch here during the ski break. The food is average but the view is amazing! In this restaurant during the winter time is all about seeing and to be seen. I've seen few famous people here in the winter during my ski breaks like Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke & Owen Wilson, Ivana Trump, Kenny G and more. Although the private restaurant club is right next to it in the same building, but they seems like it at sundeck. Yes you have to take a gondola to get there, but it's worth to go if it's your first trip in Aspen. I lived in Aspen and surrounding area for 16 years and I always recommend people to visit Sundeck, if you don't eat at this restaurant at least you can enjoy the amazing view. read more

Wow, for being a restaurant on the mountain, this place is great. We got the house-made mushroom&quinoa veggie burger (amazing) and added saucercrat (highly recommend). The burger was made so well and it will get you full! We also got the fresh market salad with citrus vingarette - also delicious with so many colorful vegetables! Do not schedule a summer wedding here....period... They will not close down the venue/facility early to accommodate various wedding vendors to set up in an adequate amount of time. They insist on staying open for a lunch crowd. As previous reviews state - it's incredible view but a very subpar and pricey lunch. If you are planning a wedding here - plan on using as minimal as possible of decor, florals and lighting. Vendors beware - the road up is rutted, uneven and rocky. Rent a transport vehicle if you don't want your company vehicles damaged. Or take everything up by the gondola. read more

This review is for the cafeteria portion of the Sundeck Restaurant. I was provided with a free lunch at the Sundeck through my employer, and I was shocked at how reasonable the prices are! I ordered a slice of cheese pizza ($5.90) and a side salad. The salad was unimpressive, but the cheese pizza was wonderful! Much better than any normal cafeteria and many restaurants. The guys working there were crazy nice, and they were talking about how much they loved working here. That is always a good sign! My colleague ordered a salad, and he didn't enjoy that. Heard the burgers were passable fast-food burgers. My suggestion is to stick with the pizza! There are plenty of drink options: Bottled drinks, hot chocolate, iced tea, fountain drinks, etc. If you do hike to the top of the mountain, there is Powerade in the fountain to get you rehydrated. There are a ton of large tables to choose from, and the panorama windows provide you with an amazing view while you eat! Shockingly good for being the only food on the top of the mountain! read more

If you are an off-road adventurer, then the ride up the back of Aspen Mountain might not be quite scary enough for you, but for me, it is pretty daring. Of course, most people arrive at the top of Ajax in a gondola or a ski lift. However you get here, the trip is 5-star worthy alone. I don't even like nature, and the scenery up here takes my breath away (not just because the oxygen is thin either). Imagine a Bob Ross painting, and then, imagine it about 100x better than that. Here? Yes, I am at the top o' the mountain right now in the Sundeck. The Sundeck doesn't serve your average ski bum fare. Today I had a coconut vegetable soup that had all the brilliance of Thai but was loaded with kale and all sorts of good for you and your belly veggies. The food is a little bit hippie and a little bit trendy, but a whole lotta tasty. You can get duck quesadillas! The prices are expensive, yes-- over $7 for a bowl of my soupy addiction, but hey, you're paying for location, location, location and some solid ingredients. I also know from first-hand experience on more than one occasion that the staff at the Sundeck is top notch. They will take care of you like no other! Over the top view, incredible food and friendly peeps make lunch at the Sundeck an Aspen must for sure. read more

The sundeck is cheaper than any other restaurant I went to in Aspen! The food was awesome too. This is the first time in my life I've paid less at a ski resort restaurant than a restaurant in town lol. The chicken cibatta was absolutely deliciously for $12. read more

Best views. Ok food. Bad service! Like so many others we took the gondola to the mountain top and looked forward to eating there. Menu was limited to sandwiches and salads with no traditional brunch items. One station was already closed. Sandwiches were meh and just not worth $$$ they are charging for it. My turkey sandwich took some time and I had to wait for few customers after me to pick up my order. Kitchen staff apparently does not like customers checking for their delayed orders. When I requested the staff for my order status, the guy goes on a rant telling his pal how annoying it is for him when customers check on their paid orders. Altitude does affect your hearing but the dude was too loud to miss! On a good note, they modified their taco to make it veggie for one of my friends. I guess you remember the service more than the food. So just 2 stars! read more
