The crispy chicken sandwich is honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and balanced with just the right amount of heat. The kale salad and fries were also excellent, and everything came out quickly despite how busy the place was. The service was upbeat and welcoming, and the whole experience felt effortless. If you want a fun, laid-back lunch or dinner in Aspen without sacrificing quality, this is absolutely the place.

The service was wonderful, we got our food very quickly, and the ambiance was adorable. A little loud but nothing too crazy. The food itself was fine. We ordered the duo dip, French fries, the French dip, and the chicken sandwich. The guac and the other dip were really good and we loved the chips too. The fries are pretty much what you'd expect, except once they got to room temperature they became super hard and not very edible. My husband said the French dip meat was good and tender, pretty good flavor overall. I had the chicken sandwich which was huge! They split the sandwich into three wedges and I could only finish two. I liked the texture of the chicken was nice and I liked the slaw on it, however, the flavor overall was kind of lacking. I would say it was a bit overhyped. Overall, it was a nice experience for a decent price and I'm glad we went. Would we go back? Probably.

Split 3 ways and including tax/tip, the bill came out to nearly $40 per person. That being said, the banh mi I got was quite good - packed w/flavor from the kimchi and the sauce; though this is probably the first time i've had a banh mi without any cilantro... The thai coconut soup, though, was a bit of a let down. It had all the right flavors, but was in dire need of some acidity and sweetness. Without that, it was quite one-dimensional. Service was decent. We were seated outside so quite a lot of people around and so it often felt quite cramped. Overall, not bad but there's definitely better out there.

As for a sit-down meal, M&C is not in the forefront of my must come back to anymore. When informed that there'll be a long wait to their charming patio; I made the mistake this evening of taking a table inside for immediate seating. Very slow and unattentive was the service there. So disappointed also I was with my undercooked "rotisserie chicken" and the once beloved brown sugar butter sauce of theirs was sour. When asked if they had changed the recipe, our server replied "it depends on who made it" - really?!? I didn't leave this time with that warm and cozy feeling of being a guest at their place, instead now I was just another customer! cheers!

I called them at 8:30 and they said kitchen is open till 9pm which was fair. We got there at 8:50pm and the hostess looked over to someone who looked like the shift manager and she said "sorry the kitchen is closed". I did not feel like arguing so we just decided to have some pizzas and drinks. That was a big mistake. I ordered what looked like a calzone (pizza that is wrapped) and it was the saltiest dish I've tried. Again we were trying to be mindful and too nice but I think we just went too far for being too nice. I then ordered the other pizza and it was honestly quite mediocre. The waiter was really nice and that's why I'm giving it 1 star otherwise it would be zero for us. They weren't even willing to provide salad. Come on! You can't even make salad in your kitchen? That was just ridiculous. And believe it or not, we had amazing food in every other restaurant we tried in Aspen so this was certainly a one off. My suggestion to the management team is to be honest about your the last call from your kitchen. If you close at 10pm and your kitchen runs till 9pm, you ought to be able to take orders till 9pm. Otherwise, be upfront and shot down kitchen at 8:30pm. Quite disappointed and not even sure if I would ever want to give this place a try.

When we were not attending related events, we met friends in town for dinners at rather well-known restaurants -- all were just fine. Quite good, even. But not... great. Then, with a bit of luck and a determined snowstorm, we found ourselves having to stay in Aspen for two additional days. Luckily, we were welcomed back at the resort and, hunkering down with the weather, decided to simply stay put and have dinner on property at West End Social. Due to the weather, we practically had the place to ourselves, which was genius, as we were able to spend even more time with our utterly delightful and endlessly competent server, John B. What followed was easily the best meal we had in Aspen. The pâté was insanely delicious, the pork chop was the best my partner has ever had, and the focaccia (the focaccia!), wildly delicious -- crackling at the edges, deeply earthy, and, I suspect, lifted by a whisper of cornmeal. The only tragedy was that we found ourselves unable to cross the finish line to dessert. And so it was that we came back again the next evening. We ordered an entirely different assortment of dishes (save the otherworldly focaccia), and once again -- perfection. My job back in Massachusetts is to write about local food, farms, and chefs, which is to say only that I think about food -- a lot. And so it is that with total confidence and unbridled enthusiasm I can say -- West End Social, with its gorgeous space, exquisite food, and outstanding people who make it all happen -- is a gem.
