Three stars for the food..... hearty and delicious. Not a huge menu or gourmet by any means like you expect in Aspen but....... It has they most amazing view a little gondola ride up to the to of Ajax/Aspen Mountain and you get a 360 degree view of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Today was a gorgeous day with about 70-75 degrees at the summit and only a small breeze. which brings us to the extra star. Food ordered: 1. Delicious veggie sandwich well marinated and flavorful. 2. Fresh made to order green leaf (not Romain or iceberg :) ) salads 3. Turkey/Bacon Club - crispy bacon and delicious hearty grilled bread. I imagine the restaurant to be an even better treat during the winter... where you can come in and defrost before hitting the slopes another time. In this respect is also one of classiest decorated on the slopes eatery I have ever seen. (However I come from the smaller slopes in the Sierras.) Enjoy the breath taking view and food. read more

Top of the mountain treat! Walking distance from the gondola. I was Leary of the food after reading the reviews, but our group enjoyed the meal with a view! It was a nice break from skiing too! Wine, beer and a full bar made the stop even better! They also have a small gift shop. read more

Sundeck is amazing. Gondola ride was fun with my four yr old nephew. Food is okay. View is breathtaking.

I've eaten here a few times and each time my food was really great, better than I was expecting. They have a good selection of options and drinks. Can't beat the views.. just amazing! Worth the gondola ride! read more

Take a break from skiing on Ajax and take in the sights, calories and alcohol whilst atop the premiere mountain in Aspen. Best kept secret for non-skiers - take a snowshoe tour up-top or just a sightseeing lift ticket to meet your ski buddies - the price includes a discount ($10 currently) on food purchases. read more

This a review for the cafeteria part of the Sundeck Restaurant. It was delicious! You can get a $10 credit with your gondola pass. There is a selection of pizza, soups, salads, and sandwiches. We got a salad- all the veggies were very fresh and there was a wide variety. We also got the special of the day- a seared salmon wrap with house made kimchi. It was absolutely delightful. Highly recommend riding up and eating lunch, while enjoying the view. I took one star off because it was a little pricey- but normal for Aspen and the view you are getting. read more

Cobb salad was very good! Our group also had ceased salads and a burger. Only thing we missed were regular fries. They only serve sweet potato fries. Everything Is handmade and the quality is excellent. read more

If you're eating in a cafeteria at a ski area, you expect to pay too much. The good thing about the Sundeck is that the food is actually quite tasty. They serve ski lunch staples like burgers and pizza slices, but the quality is good. A favorite of mine is the wok station, where made to order noodle dishes are served up. The grill line moves quickly-it's nice to get a sandwich or burger fresh off the grill rather than wrapped up and sitting under a heat lamp. Baked goods are consistently satisfying. Add spectacular views to the decent food and you've got a winner. read more

Great food, a bit pricey but you get the gourmet food on top of a mountain. We found it worth. Service was next to nothing but was a crazy holiday, they were really really busy, so will not complain. Had a good experience. read more

The Sundeck is one of our faves when we are visiting Aspen. Like mentioned above: he food is a little bit hippie and a little bit trendy, but a whole lotta tasty. To be clear this review is for the sun deck bar only, the ski cafeteria, view etc are all perfectly impressive the bar has consistently been a mess. Crappy service no personality, can't get anyone's attention whether they're busy or not! People want to go to this bar it's the only one at the top of the mtn, we're a captive audience, imagine how much more pleasant it would be if the ski company hired competent, personable, efficient help. Go, Go, Go to the Saturday sunset party. Phenomenal DJ, everyone dancing (some still wearing ski helments, others much much less), good drinks, lots of good appetizers and pizza being purchased by clients everywhere. The atmosphere inside is incredible, and the views and vistas outside are beyond beautiful. Not to shabby to take the gondola down to Aspen village afterwards in the dark with the city lights illuminating the valley either. read more

Food is set up in a cafeteria style, but was better than I expected. I got the French dip sandwich which was really good with the crispy onions (a great addition to the standard French dip!). My husband got the buffalo Rueben which was good. read more

We took a ride up the gondola to have lunch here. The views are amazing. It's a little nicer ski lodge food with full bar. Stir fry was good along with the chili. read more

Stay for the views. Leave for the food. Tried three entrees all awful. View was awesome and people who worked here were very nice.
