Steak over cooked
Chantel M.

I have been here a long time ago and the food was not bad but this time the food was not good at all. The server was very nice. Needless to say we came in hungry so we did eat the Parmesan wings which were way to soft but the flavor was not bad, and bang bang shrimp which didn't have any bang at all but the shrimp were nice and big. Here is the part were my group had to send our entrees back. We ordered Chicken Alfredo, assuming it was coming with Alfredo noodles, rather it came with mushy Angel hair pasta over cooked chicken. The noodles was like mash potatoes, I got the steak and it was over cooked even though I asked for medium and dry because it had a teriyaki marinade it tasted like teriyaki jerky. Next we had the steak and crab cake, steak once again over cooked and crab cake very mushy and to fishy. The salad was not shown because when the salads arrived at the table I had to pick it apart, there was so much yellow lettuce I couldn't even eat it. The overall atmosphere was nice. The tables could have been cleaned better. I watched the busser and it was a quick spray of the table and that's it. Where we were sitting the floor was filthy so they are not taking time to at least check under the table and properly clean. Overall the staff was kind and the manager did give us dessert which my kids said was good because they wouldn't even let me taste it but the cleaned the container (not a crumb left). I may try again because maybe the cook just had an off day.

Onion, mushroom, beef hash omelette. Bathed in creamed chipped beef.

Best mozzarella sticks I've ever had! And the cheesesteak quesadillas were excellent.

I was gobsmacked to see "Liver and Onion," which was the bane of my childhood. Yuck! I asked whether people actually ordered it, and apparently it's quite popular. Amazing. There are NO gluten-free bread, pasta, or baked dessert items. So I ordered a Monterey Chicken Sandwich with no bread, and a side of fruit salad, to go. Got back to the hotel, and there was a very thin piece of chicken breast topped with a huge piece of ham and melted cheese, accompanied by naked lettuce, tomato, and a slice of onion. Sigh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. And there was no fruit salad. I called them and said that I didn't get it, and could I please pick it up in the morning? They very graciously said yes. Looked at my receipt, and no side was listed. That's why I didn't get it--he didn't note the order. I didn't want fries because I had some at lunch. This is a real middle-America diner. Nothing fancy, except the desserts, which looked incredibly delicious and made me sad. The salad bar was kind of scary. Lots of goopy things drenched in white stuff. Not a lot of healthy raw veggies, although there were empty bins that may have held them earlier. It's a nicely-decorated place, and they have GNOMES!! I didn't go in the lounge area, since I just got takeout and went back to the hotel. Service was very nice, polite, and friendly.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, seafood entrees, steakhouse entrees, and various Italian specialties too numerous to mention. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!

This is the kind of spot where you walk in and see a giant glass cabinet of cakes and pies, so you know this spot is gonna be legit. We sat down in the booth and ordered. The food came quickly and was hearty and excellent. Love that many dishes come with a choice of either fries or soup as the side. Since it was chilly we all got the soup. I believe they make most if not all soups in house. Mine was tomato and was lovely. I got major FOMO though because my uncle got the clam chowder, which was so creamy and well seasoned. For my main I got a special tuna melt that included pepperjack & avocado. I swapped out the Texas toast for wheat bread and it was still excellent. The bread was so buttery and everything went together so well. Service was very friendly. A cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. The check was super reasonable for four people with full meals. So happy to find another spot I can come when visiting with family and looking forward to future visits.
