We have been wanting to make it out to Funk Brewing for a few years now as it's over an hour from Philadelphia. Well, we made the trip on Sunday! We met up with some of my boyfriends family and it was a great afternoon! There were five is us. I enjoyed the Brownie Surprise stout and a can of the lemon shandy. Both were very good! My boyfriend got a flight and a beer after that although I forget which one. The shandies were a hit with the rest of our party. It's a great space! I think they just opened this location. Just terrible. Nothing good about this place except the dog that the owner seems so proud of. The owner just sits there while the bartenders work and does his house dad stuff. The food trucks they hire are terrible, the beers are unbalanced and just don't taste right. I'll give them this. They have one good beer but we all know which one that is. This place sucks. Fun little brewery. Good place to get a variety of beers. Try a flight! Not too much seating inside, but a good amount outside so a cool place to stop by in the summer. No food but I guess sometimes they have a food truck here. There was a BBQ truck when we went that had some really good brisket! Hit the spot. Fun afternoon. read more

Funk is a great brewery in the heart of Emmaus. Perfect to stop in for a beer or 2. The staff is always friendly and helpful and their new beer just keeps getting better. The bar has about 10 seats, but there are a few high top tables to have everyone sit around. Parking can be a little problematic if there is a big release, but it's not a busy road so you'll be able to park up a street or 2 and walk over. Last time I was there they had a food truck. I tried 2 flights (4 beers per flight) Pretty much everything they had on tap.I have to say it's the first time I loved every single beer from one brewery.Kind of small bar,seats maybe 12 people.Tables inside and out but not much to see inside (pretty crammed) and outside (fenced in loading dock area) I didn't go there to expect a great view,next time I'm going to try the food trucks that were out back.Parking on side street is limited and loading dock area has a few spots to park. Food trucks were there but we had pizza from Joes Pizza on Chestnut Street. The Pizza was out of this world. So there's an option if you don't want food truck food. read more

Small taproom, no TV's on my last visit. Only cans available for some reason? No drafts. Large tented area in the back. My opinion is there is WAY TOO MANY IPA's and Double IPA's. Last visit there were 11 beers on the menu, six of them were some type of IPA. If IPA's are your bag go there. If not there are limited to 3or 4 choices. No dogs even with outdoor seating. read more

With a failed attempted at a ski trip, they didn't have group lesson yet we didn't want to spring for a private one and my friend had one of her boots and one of her boyfriends, we didn't decide not to waste are drive north of the city and go on a random brewery tour. Googling what was near by we came across Funk Brewery which the cool name grab our attention and we set it into our line up of place to stop. Being our last stop it was dark so we passed it the 1st time around once we realized that we looped around and looked for a place to park. When we walked in we were shock about how packed this little brewery was. We searched around and finally found a small opening at the bar where one of us was able to order. We went with the 7 for $8 tasting which you got to sample all 7 of there beers. While doing the tasting we learned that you could sub out and double up on a beer you like. Not being an IPA or stout person I tired one of each than for the other 2 just double on on a style I prefer. Eventually some space opened up and we were able to get two seat at the bar. The bartenders were amazing. Very knowledgable about the product and beer in general. Super easy to have conversations with we had blast chatting them up as we sampled Funks beers. Most people in the tasting room were locals, Friday is one of the most popular nights, if you're in the area this place is worth a stop. Great staff, good beer, fun atmosphere! read more

Been coming here for years as it is a local spot. It has gone down hill. Filthy bathrooms, outdated broken furniture and very dark. I believe there are new owners. They need to invest in upkeep. Also, very loud. Beers are ok. I'll be finding another watering hole. read more

This was such a disappointing visit. We came here back in early November as we had heard good things about the beer, but it was definitely a bust. The service was fine and the staff were kind, but the beer just didn't taste good. We tried almost everything on the menu (with 2 flights) and only 1 or 2 beers were actually ones we enjoyed; one in particular, the Project Haze 002 was just disgusting and one of the worst beers I've ever had. The beer is amazing. Great quality, small, friendly, and GROWLERS!!! I would give it 4 stars for the limited hours and lack of food, BUT they are a brewery. Not a restaurant. Not even really a bar, even though they have an area to sit and drink. I hope they expand and open up full time as they close at 10, but until then, I will just have to settle with their amazing beer at local restaurants when I want food, and come here directly when I want a refill or a random beer. read more

Came here on a Thursday night while I was on vacation in Pennsylvania. This was right around the corner from another brewery we were at so it was nice that we could walk and not worry about driving. I really love the logo for this brewery. It really stands out. When we got there it was pretty busy. We ordered their white Ale and IPA. They were pretty good. My husband and I really enjoy this little local gem for craft beers. We have begun traveling with a growler just in case we are nearby and can stop in and fill up. Funk is a small repurposed garage that has been turned into a beer nirvana. There is a small bar for tastings and a few bistro tables of you decide to sit and relax while enjoying a pint. I hope I don't screw this up, but I think it's $6 for a 6 beer flight taste. They have a chalk board list of what's on their rotating tap and they give you a punch card and a marker to choose your flight. Generally, I like something about each of the beers I taste at Funk, there have been a few exceptions...this week they had some weird tasting turmeric cider that I could have done without, but in their defense it was not pure Funk-they created that brew with the Furcon cider folks (no offense Furcon!). My default is the double IPA or the citrus; both taste exactly the way I want them to. I like my IPAs hoppy and the citrus is an easy drinking beer. My husband really likes the 365 and any porter. The staff/bartenders are awesome. They seem to enjoy telling us about the brews, don't seem to mind some annoying small talk and are all around pleasant! The only problem we sometimes have is the parking. We sometimes have to circle the block a few times till we find a spot. Stop by-maybe you'll find yourself traveling with a growler too!! read more

The Citrus IPA is my go to beer. It is so good. They also have a bunch of limited run brews that are always worth checking out. The staff is always friendly and it's a cool atmosphere. They have food trucks if you get hungry and want a little something to go with your beer. Definitely worth a stop if you are near Emmaus. read more

An awesome valley and emmaus find!!! It is a great spot to hang out with friends, try some beers, and have a good time. I love that they feature a local pizza shop often because it has some rest unique slices and sandwiches. I enjoy the beers here especially the cream ale. I don't really Go for the overly hoppy or citrusy beers but they are tastey. The sampler goes for $10 so you can try all 8 for 20 bucks which is a steal to me!! We visited here twice and I would like to give this place a better rating. The beer is pretty good and deserves a 3-4 star rating. Unfortunately, the unfriendly staff and the uninviting space bring the rating down. The bartenders act as though you are bothering them when you order. It reminds me of Seinfeld's soup nazi. The bar is small, the tables and space are small and the stools are hard and uncomfortable. Finally, don't visit in the summer. They have no AC and own 1 fan to ventilate the space. Great beer and a great atmosphere! I love that you're sitting in the taproom where they make the beer. We had three beers each and ended up spending about $50. Absolutely worth it I had two of the Citrus beers and was a big fan. My boyfriend had the Project HAZE and the VENTOUX. All were a little more hoppy than I'm used to or normally like, but I really enjoyed all of them. I will say that a lot of their beers are higher in ABV, so be careful! . The decoration in the taproom is limited but its perfect. I love the fact they had the garage door open to let the air in and it was just as good as being outside. We plan on coming back all throughout the fall and can't wait to hang out in the cooler weather. We did not order food so I cannot comment on that. read more

I think this is my favorite brewery in the Lehigh Valley. They always switch up the beers on tap and will gladly fill growlers from other breweries. I'm partial to the South Mountain Stout and Red River, but they are all great! Haven't tried any of the food trucks yet, but I usually eat before I go there, next time I'll wait! read more
