Nice location in Allentown. Huge wine selection. Lots of extras on the menu, waffles, pretzel tastings etc. They even have a book club. A little put off because I wanted to do a second tasting with their extensive list but they limit you to one tasting per person. But you can have as many flights as you want. Seems like a money grab. We stopped in here prior to a hockey game and will be back. We are cat obsessed and loved everything about this winery. The wine was great, the workers were beyond friendly and if we hadn't had reservations, we would have grabbed food too. They have cat quesadillas, which i wanted more than anything!! We enjoyed the ambiance and being "waited on" while here. We each enjoyed the larger tasting and not being rushed to finish it quickly! We were asked how things were but never pressured, which was so refreshing. My favorite wine was the sleepy cat fry white wine! We bought some merch and headed to the game. While driving back up to Woodstock, NY, we were passing through Allentown. We were looking for something to eat, but when we saw the name Sleepy Cat Urban Winery, we knew we just had to stop. The place is deceptive looking because it is in a strip mall, but when you get in you will be very happy. Mark and Carrie are really friendly and cat lovers! We sat and talked about cats (past and present). Then we drank wine. There are really good wines here, such as Cozy Cranberry, White Whiskers and Apollo's Criss Cross. There are more and many of them are award winners. They are so good, we bought five bottles. And the wine is produced and bottled on site, in the back. We had a cheese and cracker plate as palate cleansers between tastings and it was really good. I really loved the signs for the restroom: Litter-boxes. Their website is really cool, too; cat themed. We never did get the food we were looking for, but Sleepy Cat more than made up for it. I don't believe you will be disappointed. read more

Stopped in after receiving a haircut next door at Truth Beauty Salon. The lady welcomed me right away and asked if I needed any help or was looking for anything in particular. I told her I had planned on just buying a bottle of red wine since I was in the area. She asked if it was my first visit, which it was. She suggested I try a tasting since the fee ($5 for 6 samples) is waived with any wine purchase. She ushered me to a stool and was helpful and friendly throughout the whole tasting. The owner, Mark, was also hospitable and very informative. I ended up buying 3 bottles of wine and a catnip wine by the register for my friend's cat. The wine was good and if I had eaten more of a lunch I would've tried their specialty cocktail. They said every week they pair up with a local distillery and serve a different specialty drink. This week was a fruity red sangria and apple pie moonshine from Gallows Hills Spirits. It's a relaxed atmosphere, there's even a TV behind the counter. Overall a cute spot with good wine, I just wish they had crackers or something for a palate cleanser in between wines. This gem is tucked away in the same lot as "Udder Bar" in downtown Allentown. The owners and staff welcome you like family from the moment you walk in the door. Cat lovers rejoice in the over 40 cat themed wine choices, but also the simple, yet delicious food offerings. What fan of these four legged furry creatures would not fall in love with a pairing of their favorite wine and a "Catsadilla"? (A delicious quesadilla cut into the shape of a cats head, with the addition of toppings creating an adorable face.) The decor is welcoming and comfortable, with photos of the cats whom the many wines theme come from. While the tasting room seems small, fitting around 30 people at a time, they have additional space in their connected event/party room. This space can be rented out with catering from anywhere, as well as a sommelier serving wine for private parties. They hold many events from fundraisers, to trivia, to karaoke, painting, comedy and more. In addition to enjoying a nice drink or snack, know that they always donate a portion of proceeds ( 50 cents per glass, and $1 per bottle) toward their monthly foundations (Local rescues, vet clinics, and more). I wanted to like this winery so much but was truly disappointed. To give them some credit, the staff were very friendly, funny and welcoming and the store was very clean. We sat down for a tasting and a lot of the wines were out of stock, ok, that happens but quite a few on the list. I bought 3 bottles of Smokeys Midnight Treat and didn't see it until I was home that there was nasty black sediment in the bottom of the bottle. The wine didn't taste like the one I tasted in the store. Since I don't live near the store to return them I dumped them down the drain. I won't be returning here again. read more

Puuurrrrfect!! :-) So, where can I start? My husband and I went to an event / overnight trip to the Allentown area and I was searching for wine spots and came across this one! I love cats (my nickname is "Kat", so.. hehe) and the atmosphere is so cozy and cute and there were lots of paintings and photos that mixed the cat and wine themes together. The staff was SO SO SO friendly and the wines were amazing!!! What I really liked were that my hubby and I have different tastes in wine (he likes sweet and I like dry) and they had such a great variety that there was something for each of us! They even WAIVE your tasting price if you get a bottle and the average bottle is only $12/$13.. so you can get a tasting of 6 wines and a bottle for $12! Seriously amazing!!! Not going to lie - we came cause the name had "cat" in it (we are cat people) and we were close by and said why not. We stayed because the owners are frickin awesome. We had a blast hearing stories and just talking about everything and anything! They have about 30 different wines available for tasting, which is $5 for 6 tates. The fee is waived if you buy a bottle (roughly $13). They also have a lot of fun knickknacks- from cat wine glasses to wine for your cat to funny signs for your kitchen. Highly recommend if you are in the area- you will be blown away by the hospitality! read more

I stopped by this local winery a few hours before they were open. They let me in anyway when they saw me at the front door. I came in to buy a bottle of wine as part of a silent auction gift basket. We were in the area and looking for something to do before we headed back home to Harrisburg. I love trying new wineries so from the Lehigh Valley Mall parking lot I plugged "local wineries" into Google and this was one that popped up. Since it was only 2 miles away, I thought we'd drive into town and try it out! There is a small parking lot as well as on street parking. There were plenty of spots at 3 pm on a Saturday. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the girl behind the counter. They have a tasting bar, with stools, which was nice. We were the only ones there and were asked if we were interested in doing a tasting, um...YES!!! :) She explained that the tasting was $5 for 6 samples but they waive the fee if you buy wine. She gave us a sheet of the wines they offer and we marked off the ones we wanted to try. We loved the sweet white and the blush so we bought a bottle of each. I also had a glass of their awesome Sangria. Service was very friendly and I would visit again when in Allentown. read more

I visited Sleepy Cat once during my time in Allentown, but wish I could've stopped by one more time before leaving. The folks behind the counter have hearts of gold and are FUNNY. This stop was just out of the blue. We were nearby and looking for a new winery to visit. Being new it was a pleasant surprise with owners being personable and fun. There were a few wines with cleaver names and good taste but being a dry wine drinker the selections were limited. We enjoyed the wine but nothing to me was outstanding but the sweeter wines were decent according to my fiancée. The time spent was worth the trip and wines were good. read more

Great little winery. Owner was very hospitable, and welcoming. We went on a night where they had dip pairings. They were delicious! Definitely try their chicken salad mix and tail-gator dip. My wife and I stopped in tonight for our first time, we saw the Sleepy Cat ad on the video board at the IronPigs game. We never heard of this winery so we quickly looked it up and made it a point to stop in this week. We arrived shortly after opening today (4pm) and were promptly welcomed by Mark. We each did a tasting of sweet and fruit wines they had. They do have a good variety of dry which he said were relatively new to the list. We really enjoyed quite a few of their wines, left with 8 bottles and we'll be sure to stop in again to replenish them when they're gone. Mark was an awesome host, he even showed us around the tanks and told us a lot about his wife and their cats. The girl who came in at 5:00 was also very kind and personable (sorry we didn't get her name). We've never been to an "urban winery" but truly enjoyed the comfy space and friendly conversation. It's nice to enjoy a small winery versus going to the liquor store and picking a bottle you hope you like. We'll definitely be back and will be bringing family and friends. read more

My husband and I were at Sleepy Cat for a music event, but I had to do some sampling. Six samples for $5, which is deducted from the purchase price of a bottle.That evening there were 21 wines on the list. I decided to stick to the whites and save the reds for another visit. I thought it odd that I was not given a fresh glass for each sample but was told they do it only when you switch between reds and whites. Doesn't the flavor still cling to the sides? Unlike other wineries, I could not buy a bottle and drink it during the performance. I had to purchase wine by the glass (Kitty Kisses $5), which I did, and bought a bottle of Pawsitively Peachy ($14) to take home. The employee that waited on me was helpful. Only one owner, Mark, was on the premises that evening, and was very friendly. On our second visit, again for a music event, we bumped into some friends who were there for the first time. They were also confused by the sampling process. Like me, they expected individual glasses for each sample, served at the same time, so they could go back and forth to compare. Instead, it was just one sample at a time and the next sample is poured into the same glass. Although I intended to sample reds this time, I decided to just purchase by the glass. Despite this, I must say that Sleepy Cat provides some very good local live music events, so it is worth going. read more
