Shut up and go. This place is known for their baos AND their eggplant dishes. We recently discovered it two months ago and have gone to it A LOT. Everytime we go it is 2 orders of XLB (the original, nothing crazy though the spicy version, i heard, tastes great) and a veg of some sort. String beans - bomb. Sweet and sour eggplant - fav. Eggplant with String beans - love at first sight. The people there are efficient and very polite, though I think going every week at least once a week really helps. Lastly, they have QR code ordering and checkout. When we see that our host/waiter/second-favorite-cousin is busy, we just use the online ordering to check out. Fast and clean. My coworkers and I were craving some dumplings, and I was excited to find this new place in Mountain View. The menu is right up my alley since I love a soup dumpling in all forms, steamed or pan fried. But just an FYI, the parking lot is a little weird there's ample parking, but the layout is kind of strange, especially at night when you can't really see the lane markings. But onto the food! The winners for me were the pork and crab, soup, dumplings, beef scallion pancake roll, and black and gold lava salted egg yolk bun. 10 out of 10 would order again, no notes. Midtier were the garlic green beans, which were good but a little bit too salty, but that could be remedied with some rice next time. The weak points were the pan fried soup, dumplings and the spicy pork soup dumpling. Both of these dumplings didn't have much flavor. The pan fried soup dumpling was one that I was really looking forward to, and although initially it seemed crunchy to touch, when you bit down into it, there wasn't much of a texture to enjoy. The spicy pork soup dumpling was a flavor. I had never tried before, but I was disappointed because it was kind of just a bland soup with a kick that makes you cough. It wasn't actually spicy, just that Sichuan kind of chili that gets you in the back of your throat. Service was quick, and the workers were very friendly. It wasn't super busy at 6 PM, but around 7 PM, it got pretty full. Another minor complaint was that they brought us cold water, and we had to ask for tea. But when we got the tea, it was only slightly warmer than lukewarm. That was also a minor complaint about the soup dumplings; they looked like they were steaming and super hot but once I bid into them, they were actually at a temperature that was easy to eat. On the one hand, that's a good thing, but I do wonder why they were not burn your mouth hot like regular soup dumplings. This strip mall has been a bit cursed for a while especially after the phase oht of Hobees. But Rinco Sabroso has held serve for quite a while and still hangs on. With Super Bao there's another reason to go. Ive learned so much about Chinese food in being in this area over the last fre years as more and more folks being regional cooking from all over that giant country . I usually have my token friend who translates for me but this time i went in blind. Pan fried dumplings, soup dumplings, spicy chicken, fish with tofu and string. beans were all excellent . A friend and I were looking for a re-do after a recent Din Tai Fung letdown and came across this place. We came in right around opening and had our choice of seating. The waiters were friendly and quick to take our order, although they gave the "are you sure?" once they heard all we wanted to order. Because it was our first time trying this spot, we got a variety of items like the xiao long bao, dan dan noodles, spicy wontons, and onion pancakes, and every item was perfectly fresh and piping hot. Super Bao replaced the old Dumpling Garden at the corner of Rengstorff and Central. We got takeout from here on a Sunday night (multiple ordering platforms available, door dash with pickup was the cheapest). The menu has a wide variety of items, but since it was called Super Bao, we figured we should focus on the baos: - Shanghai pan fried dumpling: no soup inside, but the filling was flavorful and really good. I wish it had more of a crust, though. - Pork and cabbage bao: with the option to have it pan fried, so it was basically like an inverted version of the pan fried dumpling - Honey walnut shrimp: kids picked this one, I appreciate that they packed the sauce on the side. It had a generous amount of walnuts. - Super greens: cabbage, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, baby corn - a nice lighter dish - Sichuan boiled fish: tender fish, good mala flavor, not overly spicy Staff was friendly, and you could see them making things fresh. read more

My family and I were visiting in the Cupertino area and were looking for a good spot with XLB and other Chinese dishes. We are so glad we ordered from Super Bao! The XLB were very tasty and reasonably priced and the baos we tried were excellent as well. The staff were very friendly and the food was packaged well. In addition to the baos, we ordered a Sichuan boiled fish (水煮鱼), string beans & eggplant, and a stir-fried beef with scallion. We decided to try this place after randomly craving Chinese food and realizing this new location opened near our house. When we arrived, we were greeted right away. The restaurant is super clean and spacious. You can conveniently scan the QR code and order through your phone without having to enter your card right away. We appreciated being able to look through the menu options and order on our time without feeling rushed. They brought a check at the end of the meal. We ordered: Cucumber salad with garlic Combination fried rice Orange chicken Honey walnut shrimp Shrimp potstickers with chive (not pictured) Everything was absolutely delicious and prepared fresh! The orange chicken and honey walnut shrimp were so good they had the perfect amount of crisp and a good sauce ratio. The fried rice was also very flavorful and authentic, and came with a really good amount of meat. My absolute favorite was the cucumber salad, it was dressed well and had a nice crunch to it and gave a fresh element to the meal. The potstickers were OK, they had great flavor, but I felt like the size was really big when I'm used to smaller size dumplings. Pretty solid doordash order today that arrived fairly timely, hot, and delicious. Got the beef tomato noodle soup and was happy that they included the noodles separately from the beef broth. The broth and veggies were quite flavorful and the beef tendon and pieces were portioned well and very rich in flavor as well. Overall a pretty decent bang for your buck! I really wanted to like this place but didn't. The crab xlb was soggy and disappointing. The pork glass noodle buns were mid...and in any case weren't even what I ordered. (For their mistake they did not comp the item, as any normal restaurant would, but instead only gave me a 20% discount.) The mini pan fried buns were good. I'll probably go back one more time in a few months and try to get the buns I actually wanted (pork, mushroom, and corn), and maybe some of the wet dishes, but the quality of the xlb and steamed buns doesn't give me much hope for those other items. read more

This is a rare find in terms of truly authentic mid to northern Chinese cuisine. Located in a nondescript, half occupied strip mall at one of the busiest intersections in the Mountain View Palo Alto area, Super Bao can easily be missed. And paradoxically this adds to its charm. And the food is, well, simply great. The bao's here are not just super, they are sublime. Their dough and ingredients are the best we have ever tasted outside of China, if not among the most competitive there. That's right, if you are looking for great bao's without going all the way to Shanghai or Beijing, this is your place. Besides the bao's, they also have an extended menu catering to diverse customer expectations. We tried different dishes on several occasions. All highly satisfying. An example is their hot and sour soup. Rarely do we come across such authenticity in this ubiquitous dish that you can't miss when stepping into almost any Chinese restaurants here in the US. But their offering is the real deal. Like others have commented, the service here is friendly and efficient. No surprise given their manager/owner Jason is an experienced restaurateur in the local Chinese food scene. That said, the vibe here is family, family, family. None of the snobbery one comes across in a great restaurant. At least not yet and hope one never would find that here. read more

Ordered steam pork soup dumplings, crab & pork soup dumplings, hot and spicy shredded pork, and a bowl of braised beef noodle. The soup dumplings tastes bland and the hot and spicy shredded pork is considered as minced pork instead of shredded pork. Waited more than 10 mins for the noodles after finishing all the soup dumplings and had to went to the staff to check the order status. Found Super Bao on the Yelp Hot and New Restaurants listing. It's located in a very unassuming strip mall with plenty of parking. Though the furniture isn't brand new, it is clean. We were warmly greeted by the wait staff, Victor. He quickly seated us, and delivered water and menus. Note that depending on your cell phone carrier, you may have no service in the restaurant. I asked Victor about that and he graciously hooked us up on the WiFi. Note that the password is not posted anywhere, so he personally adds that. It's very fast WiFi once connected. After ordering, Victor set our expectations for the wait time as 15 minutes. It's great not to think they forgot about our food. Of course the first dish of beef wrapped pancakes arrived in less time than expected which was a win. The beef was tender and flavorful while the pancake was hot and flaky. The pan fried buns were hot, tender and a good size though I wish there was more meat in them and more of a crunch to the bottoms. The pork potstickers were also tasty but needed a bit more crunch to them too. Overall the food was good and the prices quite a deal compared to what other similar restaurants charge. The service was excellent. Victor checked on us often and willingly asked for feedback on the food. Would love to go back and try more items on the menu. read more

I was really disappointed to see that Dumpling Garden was replaced with a new restaurant. It had been my go to for take out Chinese food. But I didn't want to take my feelings for Dumpling Garden out on Super Bao, so I had to give it a try. I had the sesame chicken and the pork and mushroom siu mai with rice. The sesame chicken was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside with loads of flavor and sticky sauce. I want more of that! The siu mai were packed full of pork and mushroom...they were big. Also very tasty. The rice was cooked right too. They have a very large menu of different Chinese dishes, including fish, chicken, pork and vegetarian. The service was friendly and fast. I'm going to try it again...it may become my new go to for take out Chinese ;-) read more

This is a gem of a restaurant in a shabby looking strip mall. I almost want to gate keep, but want to support the small business and for the restaurant to flourish. On the first visit, Victor welcomed my family of 3 with a warm greeting and the Jason the owner was just as friendly -- constantly checking up on us to see how the food was. We have since returned with a big group which they were super accommodating with (one table for adults, a separate table for kids) and have ordered take out a couple of times. The food is delicious. We loved their signature paned fried baos, xlb, pig ear, beef tendon, noodles, and my friends really love the hot and sour soup. Their desserts are delicious as well, can't go wrong with the black lava egg buns or the sesame balls. They also sell frozen baos and dumplings, which we have purchased to cook at home. All of the dishes are authentic and delicious. Service is very helpful and friendly. Since it's is new, there was no wifi for online order. Also, you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the restroom. I will definitely return for more. read more

At a not very noticeable location that change hands a few times over the past 20 years. I use to love that Shanghainese restaurant but they moved to Wolf/Homestead. Before Super Bao was a dumpling place I never visited. When I saw a super Bao clip pop up in my TikTok feed, I decided to try. Overall is average, xiao lung bao wrap much thicker than Ding Tai Fung. The xia lung bao delivered almost immediately after we ordered, came out with no smoke and a dull skin color suggested it was sitting on the counter or a reject. We ask for replacement, the replacement came out with little smoke also. Steamer not hot enough? I don't know. The pan fry pot sticker was average, also wrapper on the thick side. The spicy wonton in hot chill sauce was also average, not spicy enough and no "ma lat". The 2 spicy cold dish, tendon and beef tripe combo ( husband wife lung slice :-) ) similar, spice not powerful enough like Shang Cafe in Cupertino. The beef fry rice was probably the best of all from our visit. Hope they continue to improve and I will come back in a few months. read more

We ordered xiao long bao, pork baos, pork potstickers, pan-fried dumplings, honey walnut shrimps, Mongolian beef, and the panda custard baos. Everything was good quality! The beef chow fun has a lot of flavor and wok hay, no bean sprouts as filler either. The cumin beef also had wok hay and lots of flavor. Meat could have been a little more beefy. The Dan Dan noodles was a great portion and delicious. The spicy chicken was good but I don't like cilantro and it was loaded with it. All in all given the fair price, the portions are very generous. Staff is disorganized and unable to keep up with the waitlist. We signed up for the waitlist, waited 20 minutes while a line formed behind us. We helped other guests sign up for said waitlist and patiently let the staff know who was next in line. When it was finally our turn, the lady pointed us towards a table. Then a male staff member stepped in to tell us that our party did not have enough people to sit there. He told us we had to wait for the next available two-top table and seated the next party at the table we were at. The man told us that they were cleaning a two top table for us, then proceeded to use that same table to stack someone else's order. The staff completely ignored us even though we were quietly waiting by the door. Waited 30 minutes to be kicked out of line and no food. Why have a sign up waitlist if you don't even use it?
