Stepping foot into this place was like stepping foot into a Winter Wonderland in the middle of summer. With that being said, I have never ever been to a Mexican place that 1. had super friendly service and 2. is set up like a diner. The flooring was black and white checkerboard and there were counter seats and you could tell there use to be mini juke boxes that were screwed into each table. This place had to have been an old diner before Super Antojitos took over. It's hard to believe that this was the original concept they were going with. Their prices have gone up than what is compared to what is on their website. I got the burrito al pastor and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. While you wait for your food, they give you a basket of homemade chips and red hot sauce. You can tell they're homemade just by how they look and the thickness of each chip. The sauce was nothing special. It was a two-man show that night and they were both kind and attentive. Our drinks were always filled and they would frequently come over to check on us. My burrito was fat as hell. I asked for just rice and al pastor, nothing else. They stuffed that puppy with al pastor! Call me crazy but I wish there was a little more rice and not so much of the meat. The al pastor was very dry and the spices were so strong. It literally cleared up my sinuses. You could tell that it had been marinated for awhile. The meat was red and it had a slight scent of herbs, like cilantro. Ick, not really my cup of tea but the spicyness made up for it. The spanish rice had peas. It would probably taste a lot better with some carrots and/or onions. The burrito was so big I could only eat half of it. I ended up taking the rest home. I'm not sure if I'd come back. The experience was definitely different but the food was just average to me. read more

Ordered 2 of the 3 taco combinations that come with rice and beans, and 2 enchiladas on the side.. and it was so damn good..the beans and rice were sooo flavorful and the carne asada tacos were sooo delicious.. the man who answered the phone when he took my order was soo nice and informed me my food would be ready in 15 mins and we got there exactly 15 mins and our food was ready and on point! The prices are really great here as well.. definitely will keep coming back. read more

I got food poisoning from here Saturday 4/21/18 I ordered a tamale and enchilada plate combination. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla. We never finished our food and took it home. Later that night my friend decided to finish her left overs of the quesadilla and she immediately threw it back up. My body didn't react to it until Monday 4/23/18 I had all the symptoms of food poisoning (dehydration, headache, fever, chills, throwing up,etc.) I've also noticed there are a couple reviews here that also mention food poisoning. I would recommend staying away from this establishment. The food is not properly prepared and they need to temp their food better. I work in a corporate dining establishment, there are a lot of food safety regulations I have to follow. I'm positive this restaurant Super Antojitos is handling their meats improperly. read more

This place is amazing, from the crew working to the food there producing. This place is top shelf!! They just started doing happy hour as well. 3-6 mon-fri you can get 24 oz of Modelo or Pacifico for $5 which is a great deal. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THERE WET BURRITOS!! I've tried wet burritos all around California and even into the desert wastelands of Arizona. Everything from 20 dollar San Francisco to the roach coaches of the world. This we burrito is the GOAT. The meat is done perfectly. I opt for Asada or Al pastor. The cheese and green sauce is perfection. I've literally been buying wet burritos here since I was like 15 so it might just be the nostalgia. My dreams have been destroyed yelpers! The best wet burrito in the world ceased to exist. Super A's on Bristol in Santa Ana is gone...and they took the burrito with them!!! okay i'm sorry, i was jones'ing for a serious wet burrito and knew Super A's had a location nearby. The gf and I came in saturday morning and from the start was disappointed. I had to becon a waiter or waitress to get anything and everything. Drinks, ordering, utensils, refills, limes, check, box. It even took almost 5 full minutes for someone to realize we were waiting to pay. It was just a horrid experience. NOW the burrito, the carne asada was seriously bland and soft...far from the nicely charred salty deliciousness that i nearly offered my first born boy for (when I have one of course). This time it was just a let down. COME ON SUPER As!!! Step up your game!!! read more

Came here with a coworker for taco tuesday. Got 3 $1 tacos. It was good. the steak was nice and tender. Al pastor was good as well. Had two margaritas. It was a bit too sour and too much salt. The food itself was also a bit salty. Afterwards, I was bloated and felt sleepy. The chips and salsa was nothing to write home about. I wish the chips were warm and I wish their salsa was a bit more flavorful. read more

Authentic Mexican food for sure! They bring out homemade chips and salsa, so good! I had the carne asada which comes with rice, beans, salad, & tortillas. The salad comes with thousand island dressing. It was $14 and so worth it! Plenty of meat leftover. The rice has corn, peas, & carrots mixed in so it tastes like my fiancés moms homemade rice! my fiancé had the burrito with papas fritas (French fries) inside topped with green sauce. It's huge and about $10. They serve Pepsi products and your usual Mexican alcohols. read more

I called in dinner last night for pick up, it was a simple order, the cheese enchilada combo and a burrito. When I got home, (I live right around the corner) the food was cold. Not even remotely warm. And the enchiladas looked like shredded cheese had been rolled up, covered in sauce, and microwaved with more cheese on top. It wasn't melted and I could have made better food at home. The beans had a rancid smell to them but that could have been the cojita (spelling?) cheese they put on top. I will never eat here again. I'm really mad I paid cash and gave the guy a $10 tip because that whole meal wasn't worth it. I don't usually leave reviews, and I know businesses are struggling, but the quality of food should not suffer. read more

Oh yes indeed.. time for an update. This is still the "home cooking" feeling place I go to. For some reason, its yummy good food. Quick and to the point -- Its burritos, tacos and more that fill that void for that delish and hearty meal. Quick Note: The last few years, especially on Cinco de Mayo, this place is rockin'! Great deals and great grub make your dollars and tummy stretch. I have loads of photos to view, and Oh btw my previous review on this place is still very valid. Check it... OverALL: Put the Sombrero on and have a cold Tacate! Worth a try if you're by OCC or in CM area. read more

My first impression was very favorable -- fast, friendly service. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and ushered to a table. Before I had even taken off my jacket and sat down, a basket of chips, a bowl of refried beans, and a bottle of house-made salsa were on the table, along with a menu and a glass of iced water. Impressive! The drink waiter materialized just then and took my order, returning with it in less than a minute. I scanned the colorful menu, made my choice, and closed the menu. Within 50 milliseconds, a friendly waiter was at my side ready to take my order. I wanted some minor alterations to the burrito I chose, and he assured me it was no problem. A few minutes later, my food was served with everything exactly as I had ordered it. My wet vegetarian burrito in mole sauce was on a hot plate and stayed hot throughout the meal. The burrito was delicious and the mole sauce was excellent. My only minor niggle was that the sauce was not spicy enough for my palate, but a few shakes of Tapatio soon fixed that. The restaurant is large and loud -- ideal for parties and family groups but definitely not what I would call intimate or romantic. The staff were all friendly and fast, and the food was top quality. I will certainly eat there again next time I'm in Costa Mesa. read more

Me and my mother were craving Mexican food and began our venture to find a new place. Driving by, we decided to give Super A's a chance. Luckily, it was Taco Tuesday for us so all of the tacos were $1-something. I got 2 Al Pastor and 2 Carne Asada. Let me tell you, the al pastor was simply delicious, and for the price? Oh my. Just stopped by the other day. STILL DELICIOUS!!! The service was great. Everyone was smiling and full of jokes! They are QUICK too! We sat down, our server gave us our drinks within 2 minutes with beans (topped with cheese) and fresh chips! Pour the salsa on the bean dip and it's more delicious!! Just wish they had unlimited supply of bean dip. Maybe they do, and you just gotta ask. Hahah! The chile verde omelette (green salsa with pork chucks in an omelette) is BOMB. It's sooo good. I'm asian and I would not have thought to order that dish, but their green salsa is gooood! Definitely better than an IHOP or Dennys, plus you walk out paying less! read more

Delicious Menudo! My family and I recently moved to Irvine from San Diego. I had a craving for menudo and googled Mexican restaurants that prepared menudo near our home. I found nothing but great reviews for Super A's and was very happy we had breakfast there. The portion was huge and it came with tortillas, oregano, "chile de árbol", cilantro, and limes. I still dream about there menudo and look forward to breakfast there on the weekends. read more

This was my first time here, and this place has some pretty good Mexican food. The beans were awesome, most mexican restaurants lack good tasting, quality beans but these were the best I've had. When you sit down they bring you beans and chips and salsa! The staff was super friendly and attentive. Personally I had a great time, and it wasn't full on a Sunday morning (before 10 am) so that's a plus. The Horchata was ok tasting and the fountain drinks were kinda flat, best bet would be drinking from the bottle! I ordered the combination plate of sope and taco, and it comes with rice and beans. The sope de lengua was okay and the asada taco was amazing! Will definitely come back for the tacos tbh. read more

Me and my family have been going here for years. They have always been kind and served good food. Their salsas are to die for. The food here is really good and authentic. I had the green chilaquiles and my friend had the ceviche. The micheladas were made perfectly also. Due to COVID we had to sit outside and there was about a 20 min wait. I was excited to have a local mexican restaurant down the street from my house when I first moved to the neighborhood. Five years ago my wife and I ordered some Enchiladas and they came with melted kraft singles on top. It was hilarious and total BS at the same time so never came back until last weekend. Over 200 reviews, 4 star on yelp, WOW, this place must have really turned around?!?!? (it was 2.5 to 3 stars when we moved in five years ago). Chips and Salsa - Chips were cold (bad) Salsa was smoky and spicy (good) Carne Asada Burrito with spicy red sauce - good, not great. Salt Bomb Beans and Rice - Beans were good. Crispy Chicken Taco - Tacos shells were pre-fried so better than taco bell, but El Matador has you beat. In Summary, the food is ok (not 4 star), the restaurant is filthy. Not a bad experience, but not worth coming back either. read more

My husband and I came to Super A's in search of pozole. We called ahead to make sure they had some and rushed over as soon as they said yes. We were sat immediately by a very nice hostess who asked if we were the ones who called about the pozole. We excitedly said yes! and she left to get the soup. I had a small bowl, which was more than enough, and my husband had a large. We absolutely LOVED it. It was delicious and flavorful. We also ordered the carnitas and a burrito and both were awesome. We had a few different waiters and waitresses stop by our table to make sure we had everything we needed and they were all very attentive and friendly. We felt like we had been coming to this restaurant for years. The employees seemed to know most people who came in to eat and we are looking forward to becoming regulars like them! We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious, home-style Mexican food. read more

I only had one breakfast burrito here and I had it to go, so my review is for the burrito only. It seems like the place would be a nice authentic Mexican restaurant to sit down and have one of their favorable reviewed meals. I got the machaca burrito, and it was not like the machaca I imagined based on past experiences. To me, machaca is seasoned, shredded meat, beef or chicken. The A's version is finely chopped steak, moist from the cooking sauce, my rather chewy and not flavorful. The rest of the ingredients were fine and the burrito was rather filling. On the scale of 50-100%, where 50 is still hungry and 100 means can't finish in one sitting, it's an 80. With a different choice of meat then burrito could have been a bigger hit, but they don't have sausage as a choice, and I'm not a fan of bacon or chorizo. read more

There are three sauces available next to the drinks machine and they are all delicious. I'm super addicted to their yogurt sauce. It's creamy and pairs well with the salad, pita and meats. If you want a nice spicy kick, try the green sauce! It's cilantro jalapeño and adds a nice flavor which also pairs well with the white yogurt sauce. Store is clean, and service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend!

I read up a little bit about how the food is sourced. Consumers are definitely getting quality products here, but sometimes quality doesn't always transfer over as deliciousness. Again, the food was good, but not something that I'm going to be yearning for. I would like to come back and try the chocolate cake that is also very popular and perhaps the Ramen.
