My dreams have been destroyed yelpers! The best wet burrito in the world ceased to exist. Super A's on Bristol in Santa Ana is gone...and they took the burrito with them!!! okay i'm sorry, i was jones'ing for a serious wet burrito and knew Super A's had a location nearby. The gf and I came in saturday morning and from the start was disappointed. I had to becon a waiter or waitress to get anything and everything. Drinks, ordering, utensils, refills, limes, check, box. It even took almost 5 full minutes for someone to realize we were waiting to pay. It was just a horrid experience. NOW the burrito, the carne asada was seriously bland and soft...far from the nicely charred salty deliciousness that i nearly offered my first born boy for (when I have one of course). This time it was just a let down. COME ON SUPER As!!! Step up your game!!! read more

Came here with a coworker for taco tuesday. Got 3 $1 tacos. It was good. the steak was nice and tender. Al pastor was good as well. Had two margaritas. It was a bit too sour and too much salt. The food itself was also a bit salty. Afterwards, I was bloated and felt sleepy. The chips and salsa was nothing to write home about. I wish the chips were warm and I wish their salsa was a bit more flavorful. read more

Authentic Mexican food for sure! They bring out homemade chips and salsa, so good! I had the carne asada which comes with rice, beans, salad, & tortillas. The salad comes with thousand island dressing. It was $14 and so worth it! Plenty of meat leftover. The rice has corn, peas, & carrots mixed in so it tastes like my fiancés moms homemade rice! my fiancé had the burrito with papas fritas (French fries) inside topped with green sauce. It's huge and about $10. They serve Pepsi products and your usual Mexican alcohols. read more

We were not sure what to expect at this restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very "old school"/ not pretentious, which we loved! The food was awesome. I highly recommend the chili relleño with a 22oz margarita. The servers were attentive and kind (and muy guapo ;) ). Head here for good food without the bad attitude and arrogance you find at (not to be mentioned) modern Mexican Restaurant on Harbor. read more

I love Taco Tuesdays. It's a built in excuse to eat massive amounts of taco. Lately I think I only eat tacos for the chips and beans though. Beans have become just as important as the actual tacos for me. Specifically pinto beans. I haven't actually been to Super A's but my husband picked up a to-go order for us so I can't really speak for the service. We ordered three different types of tacos: carnitas, carne asada, and pollo. We also ordered some chips with pinto beans and salsa. As far as the tacos go, they came generously stuffed with all the usual suspects. Out of the three, the pollo was the best. Granted it was a little dry but the flavor was very good. The carne asada was very very salty which made it difficult to eat. But it did have good flavor also. I did not care for the carnitas at all. Dry, flavorless, and overall it wasn't appetizing. Their pinto beans on the other hand was absolutely amazing! It was seasoned very well and the texture was spot on. I loved it and basically ate my weight in chips and dip. We enjoyed our meal for the most part. The prices were reasonable and it hit the spot. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to dine here but I wouldn't mind it if my husband picked up some tacos (and beans) again for Taco Tuesday. Casual and quick! 3/5 read more

Oh yes indeed.. time for an update. This is still the "home cooking" feeling place I go to. For some reason, its yummy good food. Quick and to the point -- Its burritos, tacos and more that fill that void for that delish and hearty meal. Quick Note: The last few years, especially on Cinco de Mayo, this place is rockin'! Great deals and great grub make your dollars and tummy stretch. I have loads of photos to view, and Oh btw my previous review on this place is still very valid. Check it... OverALL: Put the Sombrero on and have a cold Tacate! Worth a try if you're by OCC or in CM area. read more

Just stopped by the other day. STILL DELICIOUS!!! The service was great. Everyone was smiling and full of jokes! They are QUICK too! We sat down, our server gave us our drinks within 2 minutes with beans (topped with cheese) and fresh chips! Pour the salsa on the bean dip and it's more delicious!! Just wish they had unlimited supply of bean dip. Maybe they do, and you just gotta ask. Hahah! The chile verde omelette (green salsa with pork chucks in an omelette) is BOMB. It's sooo good. I'm asian and I would not have thought to order that dish, but their green salsa is gooood! Definitely better than an IHOP or Dennys, plus you walk out paying less! read more

The food is good authentic Mexican food and the service is superlative. The staff are smiling, having fun talking with the customers, and the dinners came very quickly. At no point did we have to ask for anything, because there are plenty of servers right there to help you. The quesadilla was enormous and full of chicken, and the soft tacos were just fine. We want to return and try the tamales next. read more

I got food poisoning from here Saturday 4/21/18 I ordered a tamale and enchilada plate combination. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla. We never finished our food and took it home. Later that night my friend decided to finish her left overs of the quesadilla and she immediately threw it back up. My body didn't react to it until Monday 4/23/18 I had all the symptoms of food poisoning (dehydration, headache, fever, chills, throwing up,etc.) I've also noticed there are a couple reviews here that also mention food poisoning. I would recommend staying away from this establishment. The food is not properly prepared and they need to temp their food better. I work in a corporate dining establishment, there are a lot of food safety regulations I have to follow. I'm positive this restaurant Super Antojitos is handling their meats improperly. read more

This was my first time here, and this place has some pretty good Mexican food. The beans were awesome, most mexican restaurants lack good tasting, quality beans but these were the best I've had. When you sit down they bring you beans and chips and salsa! The staff was super friendly and attentive. Personally I had a great time, and it wasn't full on a Sunday morning (before 10 am) so that's a plus. The Horchata was ok tasting and the fountain drinks were kinda flat, best bet would be drinking from the bottle! I ordered the combination plate of sope and taco, and it comes with rice and beans. The sope de lengua was okay and the asada taco was amazing! Will definitely come back for the tacos tbh. read more

This place is amazing, from the crew working to the food there producing. This place is top shelf!! They just started doing happy hour as well. 3-6 mon-fri you can get 24 oz of Modelo or Pacifico for $5 which is a great deal. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THERE WET BURRITOS!! I've tried wet burritos all around California and even into the desert wastelands of Arizona. Everything from 20 dollar San Francisco to the roach coaches of the world. This we burrito is the GOAT. The meat is done perfectly. I opt for Asada or Al pastor. The cheese and green sauce is perfection. I've literally been buying wet burritos here since I was like 15 so it might just be the nostalgia. I called in dinner last night for pick up, it was a simple order, the cheese enchilada combo and a burrito. When I got home, (I live right around the corner) the food was cold. Not even remotely warm. And the enchiladas looked like shredded cheese had been rolled up, covered in sauce, and microwaved with more cheese on top. It wasn't melted and I could have made better food at home. The beans had a rancid smell to them but that could have been the cojita (spelling?) cheese they put on top. I will never eat here again. I'm really mad I paid cash and gave the guy a $10 tip because that whole meal wasn't worth it. I don't usually leave reviews, and I know businesses are struggling, but the quality of food should not suffer. read more

My first impression was very favorable -- fast, friendly service. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and ushered to a table. Before I had even taken off my jacket and sat down, a basket of chips, a bowl of refried beans, and a bottle of house-made salsa were on the table, along with a menu and a glass of iced water. Impressive! The drink waiter materialized just then and took my order, returning with it in less than a minute. I scanned the colorful menu, made my choice, and closed the menu. Within 50 milliseconds, a friendly waiter was at my side ready to take my order. I wanted some minor alterations to the burrito I chose, and he assured me it was no problem. A few minutes later, my food was served with everything exactly as I had ordered it. My wet vegetarian burrito in mole sauce was on a hot plate and stayed hot throughout the meal. The burrito was delicious and the mole sauce was excellent. My only minor niggle was that the sauce was not spicy enough for my palate, but a few shakes of Tapatio soon fixed that. The restaurant is large and loud -- ideal for parties and family groups but definitely not what I would call intimate or romantic. The staff were all friendly and fast, and the food was top quality. I will certainly eat there again next time I'm in Costa Mesa. read more

Me and my mother were craving Mexican food and began our venture to find a new place. Driving by, we decided to give Super A's a chance. Luckily, it was Taco Tuesday for us so all of the tacos were $1-something. I got 2 Al Pastor and 2 Carne Asada. Let me tell you, the al pastor was simply delicious, and for the price? Oh my. I highly recommend. The chips and salsa I noticed were below average to typical chips and salsa. read more

Delicious Menudo! My family and I recently moved to Irvine from San Diego. I had a craving for menudo and googled Mexican restaurants that prepared menudo near our home. I found nothing but great reviews for Super A's and was very happy we had breakfast there. The portion was huge and it came with tortillas, oregano, "chile de árbol", cilantro, and limes. So if a friend isn't craving something soupy they have other great options! There is generally a wait here, ranging from 20 minutes - 1 hour and a half on any given night so definitely plan in advance. I remember they had a Yelp waitlist as an option if you're nearby and want to check in and run errands! Upon entering, you can expect to be tended to and your order taken relatively quickly. There are a lot of tables here to seat parties of various sizes. I typically lalways get the beef pho shaken style here and it's definitely enough to fill me up. One thing to note about this place is that similar to its sister franchise (Kin Izakaya), they do unlimited noodle refills here! Definitely take advantage of that if you have the stomach for it. Our food came out pretty fast, super hot, super fresh, and super delicious! I tried some of my wife's soup ramen, and yes, had great flavor... not too salty, and perfectly medium firm ramen noodles. As for my Mazemen noodles....woweee!.... this was my first time trying Mazemen noodles, with a large board on the wall with instructions on how Wadaya's Mazemen noodles should be eaten. When the instructions were followed, I dug straight in and...mmmmm good! The combination of ingredients in the bowl.... peppered ground chicken, scallions, chives, poached egg, minced garlic, fish umami, and seaweed flakes.... when all tossed together just made for an amazingly delicious bowl of noodles! I really loved and enjoyed it so very much! The Chicken karaage and spicy wontons were very delicious too and went great with our noodles. The parking was not too terrible on a weekday evening -- I was worried about the warnings, so we parked on the street. When walking to the hotel, I saw that there were many open spaces in the parking lot! We had the chicken cartillage and the calamari for appetizers. The cartillage was good, but portion was quite small. Some additional seasoning/salt would have also made it much better! The calamari was definitely VERY different from other places, but I liked the batter texture. What I loved about the ramen here is that they let you customize from the noodle size, texture, spice level, and the salt level! I always prefer the thicker noodle type, so I found it comforting to be able to request it at no extra charge. Beware there is extra charge for Spice level 4 & 5! I had the Garlic Tonkotsu ramen, which was flavorful and not too salty/creamy. My fiance had the Tan Tan ramen at level 5 spice, which he thought it was not spicy (it was for me!) and not as flavorful as what I ordered. Overall, I would definitely revisit this shop next time I'm in Oahu!

First thing I noticed when I walked into this place was that it was packed. Always a good sign though. It was also one of the places my friend always goes to when he's in town craving some Mexican food. What we ordered: Sope, a pork and hominy soup and carne asada dish. I got to try all the dishes and did not really like the soup. They use pork stomach as the pork. It was chewy. Initially, I thought the sope was the soup. When it came out, I was wrong. It looked like a colorful taco, which was appealing. I liked all of it except the masa tortilla. It never tastes fully cooked to me. My dish didn't look good, but I think it tasted better than the other 2 dishes. I liked the rice and beans, but the meat tasted dry and it was hard to chew also. I had to add a lot of sauce enhance the taste. Besides, the food, I enjoyed munching on the complimentary salsa and chips. We added on the beans, which went well with the salsa. Service was alright. It was good enough since the servers were running around doing everything in the packed restaurant. If you need something done ASAP, you'll have to waive them down. My wife and I were staying local at the Motel 6 waiting for escrow to close on our new home, and decided to check this place out for dinner one night, and we weren't disappointed in the slightest. The portions were a plenty, and the flavor was on point. I ordered the poblano burrito with carne asada, while my wife ordered a carne asada burrito a la carte, and we shared an order of nachos. The mole sauce on my burrito was an explosion of flavor with just the right amount of heat, tang, and savor, while the carne asada had the right textural bite. The crema is to die for, and for anyone that just puts a dollop of daisy on your burrito, for shame. Never here! The guac on the nachos was, according to the wifey, better than [my] mothers, which she holds in the highest regards among all guacamoles she's ever tasted. All in all, nice little atmosphere, prompt and friendly staff, and delicious food that won't break your bank. Stop in and enjoy--worth every minute and penny spent here. My visit to Super A's in Costa Mesa was an experience that leaned more towards a vibrant bar vibe, so if you're in search of a quiet spot, this might not be the ideal choice. That being said, I found myself enjoying the lively atmosphere because it seemed like everyone was having a good time. The interior decor, I must admit, is a bit dated, so don't expect a visually stunning setting. However, the seating was comfortable, which made up for the aesthetics. As for the food, I ordered the wet burritos with Carna Asada, and it was an absolute delight. The flavors were on point, and the accompanying chips and salsa were a nice bonus. I tried Super A Mexican Restaurant after seeing a few TikToks hyping up their menudo, and honestly, it didn't quite live up to the expectations. The menudo itself was pretty bland for my taste, lacking that rich flavor I was hoping for. The one thing I did like was that they included pata, which was a nice touch. I also ordered a breakfast burrito, which I'd rate about a 4/5. It was solid and filling, but nothing really stood out to make it memorable. this place is terrible! i love mexican food and was excited when i found out i lived right next to a mexican restaurant but that excitement quickly changed when i sat down at super antojitos and experienced the terrible service and bad food. they seated me and i sat for 15mins before i had to go get the waiter the same person who seated me (mind you i was the only person in the place) then when i got my food the it was bland uninspired didn't taste fresh at all the lettuce they served was brown and wilted. i will never go back and discourage all my friends from trying it. read more

Super A's in Costa Mesa is hands down one of the best Mexican spots in Orange County. The food is packed with flavor, tastes fresh and authentic, and you can tell they don't cut corners. They also have a great michelada that pairs perfectly with the food. A big shoutout to Celio and his team, who are absolutely amazing -- friendly, hardworking, and always make you feel welcome.
