Combo plate with 1 fish and 1 shrimp taco
    Melanie L.

I loveeee all the options inside Northgate market but this lil spot is the place specifically for seafood tacos. If you're like me and you love corn tortillas, ask for any of their tacos on corn instead of flour. They also let you mix and match things in their plates and menu and makes it so easy to order exactly what you like. Flavors are wonderful and the shrimp taco is especially to die for. It's crispy fried with melted cheese and peppers inside. The fish taco is a classic. Highly recommend this place for seafood lovers especially.

We've been to Mercado Gonzales many times and have tried all the food vendors, everything is good here but El Sinaloense is currently our favorite. We enjoyed the flavor and texture of the dishes here from fish tacos, burritos to sushi rolls, especially the chill rellenos that came with the combo. It was crunchy, soft with a little sweet and spicy at the same time, hubby who generally doesn't like this kind of dish, gobbles up the whole thing and declared that it was so tasty and can't wait to have more. You can usually find a place to seat inside, it could get very busy high lunch, there's also a big patio so finding a table is not a problem. It's a food hall setting, casual and fun, if you haven't been don't hesitate to.

Jarritos are kept nice and cold...

We had a table in the far corner of the dining room inside the Mercado, and it was easy to see the surprising sushi menu of Sushi El Sinaloense. Wow, but I was aleady having Menudo and the lovely missus liked the fresh corn tortillas. We took another look at the monitored overhead menu with invitingly colorful pictures. The missus typically likes the Japanese sushi and sashimi, but for now the fusion of Japanese in the Sinaloa style wether it be rolls or fresh albacore tuna made into the taco way, will have to wait for another trip. But, we have the attention of one of the staff and he pointed to the place around the corner for bottles of Jarritos sodas. I motioned that we are there now and he can sell us bottles he has on display. He was kind and we got our drinks...that saved me 10 minutes of navigating thru the crowd. We thank Sushi El Sinaloense for the friendly staff and we will visit you properly in the future.

    ¡Sushi Mexican fushion!
    Kim K.

My friend brought me here after a day of rock climbing and before our night out on the town, and oh my, wow wow wow! It's a Mexican Sushi fushion. Must have is the tuna sashimi tosada, with the best shoestring fried onions on top We also shared a salmon jalapeño mango roll, quite delicious as well!! Order at the counter than sit wherever. This restaurant is located inside the Northgate Mercado, so it was quite crowded on a Saturday evening, loud, but good music, good vibe overall. Side note, the market is a-mazing, go shopping too.

    Fish taco combo

Sushi El Sinaloense is a Mexican Japanese fusion serving seafood tacos and sushi. It's located in the Mercado González Northgate Market right next to the bar. Service: Considering this was a takeout place there isn't much to touch on in terms of service. All I can say is that the cashier was nice. Ambiance: The supermarket this food stall is located in is not only huge, but very clean and bright. There are also plenty of other stalls nearby. Food: Both the fish and the shrimp in the tacos were extremely fresh. The batter was crispy and didn't get soggy even after sitting in the tortilla. The pico de gallo was extraordinary fresh tasting with heavy notes of lime. The fried peppers were stuffed with cheese and were good, but not a highlight. All in all Sushi El Sinaloense has very fresh and tasty tacos and would be a great place to stop at while shopping in the supermarket.

I ordered a Tacosta Fish Taco, and it was absolutely delicious! There was lots of cabbage, pico de gallo, and sauce. The salsa was fabulous! I had to wait a while for my order to be ready since they were very busy on a Sunday afternoon. It was definitely worth the wait, and I would order from there again if I ever go back to Mercado Gonzalez Northgate Market!

    Combo fish tacos and rellenos.
    Ted S.

I saw baja fish tacos on the menu, so just had to try them. It seems odd that so many places do them so poorly. This place didn't do a horrible job. They tasted good, and held together well, but the fish didn't have that sturdy batter that is the standard in the Black Fish Market in Ensenada. The fish was also a bit lost under the toppings, and didn't have that characteristic crunch that is expected. I liked my taco, but wouldn't have it again. Rellenos: I'm a huge fan of good rellenos, and they had an option of a combo plate that had two of those, and two fish tacos, so win win. These used the yellow peppers that are fairly mild and a bit larger than a jalapeno. They were stuffed with a cheese mixture that had the mouthfeel of Boursin, and a very crispy outer batter coating, and a nice drizzle of flavor. I liked these, but again wouldn't be terribly compelled to return for them. It is a sushi place, and I didn't have any sushi, so perhaps they need another shot. The service was pretty quick and friendly, and the price for the combo plate fair enough. It was around $15.

Bomb shrimp burrito. Love their sushi sampler and tostadas as well. The flavors and sauces are amazing. Only tip, don't roll the sushi quite as hard so that the rice won't get as mushy, sometimes it's a bit stickier than it should be. - sincerely, a Japanese person

    4-in-1 roll
    Steph H.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: A step above most fast-casual sushi joints, with a cultural twist. Located inside the Gonzalez Northgate Market mega complex, they're an intriguing mix of Japan and Mexico. I decided to get their 4-in-1 roll, which seemed like a good introduction to their food. It had a very fancy presentation, arriving on one of those sushi boats, with a flower and everything! The fish and rice were fresh, with tasty sauces and a pile of fried onions. The prices were reasonable for the quality, and I'm definitely game to try them again the next time I'm in the area. If you're looking for super-traditional Japanese sushi this won't be your jam, but if you're open to trying something different, give them a look.

We really enjoyed our sushi and shrimp taco! The service was great and ambiance was magnifico!!! It looked like a food court with big selection of food and Sushi El Sinaloense was exact next to the scene where the singers were singing! We teally enjoyed our time here in Mercado and our food! Everything was reasonably priced! Their tacos are most try ones!

Specializing in sushi, sinaloan style, Sushi El Sinaloense was a great place to have mexican flavors incorporated into sushi. There was no line during lunch, so decided to try this sushi place. Jacob was the employee manning the register, and he was very welcoming and inquisitive. After talking for a bit, he suggested I order the special cuarenta y four roll for $16, 8 pieces of 4 different types of maki, all with distinct sinaloan flavor. It came with toppings like avoacado salsa, jalapeno slices, fried onion strings. It even came with a grilled hatch pepper, which provided as much sting as you want (depends on much of the seeds you decide to eat). It was a great value roll for $16. Even if you dine it, it is packaged as if to go, with packets of wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce. There was space at the sushi bar, but we wanted a different meal to share so took our roll to eat outside, in the communal patio. The food was great here...I really enjoyed it.

The pepper included in every dish, peeled, cooked, and cut to expose seeds.

This a review of the service and food handling issues. I will preface that I have a nightshade allergy and this was made known to the workers when ordering. (Spoiler alert, I had similar issues to another review about them not listening to removal requests) I ordered the El Anthony Roll because it was one of the only options that didn't have some kind of chili or pepper involved. We asked if there were any and asked to make sure known were included. The worker acknowledged this and assured us it would not be an issue. My order arrived and low and behold it had a giant peeled and cooked chili pepper sitting next to and up against all of the sushi in my roll, seeds and everything freely able to cross-contaminate. (See photo of what the peppers look like) We took it back to them and asked why there was a pepper and if they could remake it. The worker asked if I was allergic and my partner informed them that I was and that's why we asked to make sure peppers were not involved. As my partner walked away to wait on the remake, he said the worker looked at my dish confused and left it open in front of him. This left my partner uneasy about what might occur but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since most food service workers understand the importance of food safety. (Well, I hope they would at least. Ten minutes later we got the replacement sushi, on a regular cooking sheet and missing a lid on the plastic food container, which was odd. The food did not have the pepper anymore and it looked okay so I ate it. When I got to the end of the meal, I discovered multiple pepper seeds floating in the bottom of the plastic container and the container itself was strangely moist. (see remaining photos for the pepper seeds within the dish, and the general wetness) To us, it looked like all they did was take the pepper out of the container, removed the sushi briefly, attempted to clean out the container instead of getting a new one, and put the contaminated sushi back in without remaking it entirely. We can't prove this because we weren't watching them, but the fact that pepper remnants were still present in the container tells me this is most likely what happened. The sushi itself was just okay, but due to the poor service and overall lack of care for a simple request, as well as owning up to a mistake the proper way, we will probably never come back to this place. There is better sushi, under better care, from many many other places. It's really too bad, cause the concept is cool. Do better Sushi El Sinaloense.

We could not tell the difference between regular salmon and the salmon belly nigri they brought us. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely not fatty salmon belly. 3. The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5. I also had to use the restroom really bad. I walked in and spoke with a lady at the front counter and I told her I needed a table for 1 but before I was to be seated I needed to use the restroom. She looked at me with a skeptical look and asked me "Are you just trying to use the restroom? Are you really gonna eat here or just use the restroom and leave?" in a very condescending tone. The way she looked at me and spoke to me made me feel like someone off the street, a bum, trying to use the restroom. I'm Latino and a blue collar worker who wears work boots and work pants, so I feel like my appearance made her feel comfortable to question me and speak to me the way she did. If I was a white dude in regular clothes I highly doubt she would've talked to me like that. I insisted I was there to dine in but that I really needed to use the restroom first. After I convinced her, she pointed to the right corner of the restaurant and told me to go ahead. I was halfway to the restroom when I said you know what, **** this. I'm not spending my money where I'm not being treated with respect. I did an about face and started walking out and the lady asked me if the restroom was closed or something but I told her I didn't want to eat there anymore. You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!

The evening already started off on a bad note as there doesn't seem to be an organized waitlist system -- they seat parties based on whoever arrives first but we were seated after a party that came later despite having the same number of people... After waiting around 15 minutes, we were seated and started ordering what we wanted. Our waitress was busy handling other tables so we had to ask another waiter on 2 separate occasions for water cups, plates, utensils, etc. He seemed confused why our table wasn't prepared adequately. Our first appetizers finally arrived after 30 minutes which included the edamame, some tempura/dumplings, and takoyaki. The portions were tiny but good. Fast forward another 15 mins and the baked salmon roll had arrived which tasted subpar as the rice was incredibly mushy. After waiting another 15 minutes, we asked our waitress if we could just pay for what we had eaten and leave as no one had checked up on us and our order. It had been an HOUR since we were seated and no sushi rolls except one had been served. The sushi chef let us know to wait ten more minutes while he got started on our order, basically letting us know he forgot to make our food. We let our waitress know that we refused to wait any longer and to charge us for what was already served to which she replied with a snotty tone that other places will have longer wait times and rolled her eyes. The sushi chef was kind enough to comp our meal after this disaster, but the waitress left a bad taste in our mouth. Won't be coming back here.

Already craving this as I write this post. The flavors really pack a punch & miso soup with edamame is an excellent touch! Servers were nice and the club lighting takes you away from the hot sun or away from a drab ordinary night. Highly recommend!

The parking garage has many underground levels and is often very busy. I was lucky to grab one of the last few spaces on the second level down on an early Tuesday evening. The interior is trendy with lots of neon signs, cool wall décor, stylish seating, and an attractive bar. In addition to booth and half-booth/half-table seating, they also have two enclosed glass wall rooms for more intimate dining. We went for the all-you-can-eat dinner, which is $38.99 per person for the regular menu or $45.99 per person for the premium menu. We wanted to have the premium menu, but one person in our group of four was running late. We asked if we could have the premium menu and just get regular menu items until they arrived. We didn't think it would be a big deal, but our server said everybody had to be there at the beginning to order premium. We ordered a rainbow roll to hold us over until our friend finally arrived. We had various nigiri including salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, scallop, eel, uni, masago, salmon egg, as well as soft shell crab, broiled and fried mussels, octopus, and shishito peppers. There were probably some other items I forgot. Everything was generally good, although a few pieces of tuna were a little on the dry side. Slow service the main issue. The restaurant wasn't very busy, and it seemed like there was only one server who I'm sure was trying her best. It often took quite a while for food to arrive, and several of our orders were mistakenly delivered to the table next to us. We thought we were done, and at the very end another large plate came out including some of the premium items we never got earlier. The meal was ok, but we probably wouldn't return.
