I actually quite like this place. I came to this place a couple times and enjoyed my time here, either with a group of people or by myself. I would go back again. The turnaround rate from ordering to receiving was kind of slower than other AYCE sushi locations I've been to, but it made up in the taste for the most part. Rice can be a hit or miss here sometimes, but it's usually pretty good. The fish was fresh and the plating was beautiful when I ate here alone! I honestly love their mozzarella sticks it just hits the spot for me. There's no limit on how much you can order, but there is a maximum of 3 rounds of ordering. The servers (only male ones) I encountered were friendly and attentive, too. Refilled my water and was there for my next order either before or soon after finishing my round. I came here as result of seeing the many instagram ads. To my surprise upon arrival, it was where an old favorite of mine used to be: SushiWave. I loved sushiwave growing up so i had reasonable expectations. The service was poor and un attentive. The ayce option with only rolls was priced on the higher side. i want to preface this and say I never leave reviews... this experience has been honestly the WORST dining experience i have ever had in my entire life and i'm not even exaggerating. I took my girlfriend out to try their AYCE $40 sushi and we were so dissatisfied. the first thing you notice when walking in is the lack of staff there to seat you, they have one active waitress managing all the tables making the order times slower and leaving us unattended, 3 round limit on the orders which is alright i guess but other places nearby don't have that rule so I'd recommend any other one of those places alone. Next was the order. We got the appetizers, the premium products that were limited, and ordered our first round of fish. TELL ME WHY they fucked up our order 4 different ways. First they forgot our seaweed salad, then forgot our tuna, then gave us 2 instead of 4 bluefin tuna, and they ran out of one of their appetizers!! That was 4 mistakes in just the very first round... We decided to give benefit of the doubt and just enjoy the food, who wants to eat sushi in a bad mood?! The avacado appetizer was good and lifted our hopes but then we tried everything else and it was incredibly mid. They forgot another order of seaweed salad we placed, forgot our soybean appetizer, and there's something else that i can't remember rn but holy shit we felt so terrible having to talk to the waitress to correct our order but i can't even believe that's possible, we ORDERED ON A PIECE OF PAPER, u can literally verify what we placed it's not even like verbal communication. horrible. then the chef tried to make an excuse for himself and say he didn't wanna give us the order that we marked lightly in pencil (when we could scribble over it if it was an accident) but wtv i guess that's a reason... TLDR: Waited an hour for no sushi order + rude waitress Really disappointing experience as we were excited to try the sushi based on a recommendation. $40 AYCE PP. The evening already started off on a bad note as there doesn't seem to be an organized waitlist system -- they seat parties based on whoever arrives first but we were seated after a party that came later despite having the same number of people... After waiting around 15 minutes, we were seated and started ordering what we wanted. Our waitress was busy handling other tables so we had to ask another waiter on 2 separate occasions for water cups, plates, utensils, etc. He seemed confused why our table wasn't prepared adequately. Our first appetizers finally arrived after 30 minutes which included the edamame, some tempura/dumplings, and takoyaki. The portions were tiny but good. Fast forward another 15 mins and the baked salmon roll had arrived which tasted subpar as the rice was incredibly mushy. After waiting another 15 minutes, we asked our waitress if we could just pay for what we had eaten and leave as no one had checked up on us and our order. It had been an HOUR since we were seated and no sushi rolls except one had been served. The sushi chef let us know to wait ten more minutes while he got started on our order, basically letting us know he forgot to make our food. We let our waitress know that we refused to wait any longer and to charge us for what was already served to which she replied with a snotty tone that other places will have longer wait times and rolled her eyes. I have been here three times now and never had a bad experience. The fish cuts are smaller than your average sushi restaurant but it's AYCE and the give you little rice in the nigiri which is great because you can eat more that way. For the price you get what you pay for, they have a good selection of cut rolls and baked roles and the quality is very fair. We also tried a few roles. And I wish I would remember what they were called, but it was all worth it. We did go on a Sunday; it was a little more pricey, but it does look cheaper for happy hour. The Lemon Flush Roll was another standout - flavorful and worth trying. A special thank you to our server, Nazanin. She was so sweet, welcoming, attentive, and absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant is relatively small with almost entirely indoor seating including a sushi bar and standard booths and tables. When we were there, one server managed the customers while two chefs worked behind the bar, so this made service a little slow sometimes. The menu itself has some pretty decent items but nothing that really blew our socks off: our favorites were by far the magnolia roll, cajun tuna sushi, burrito roll, salmon, eel, and baked green mussels! We also tried the salmon skin salad, samurai roll, shrimp sushi, tuna sushi, albacore sushi, and several other rolls. My husband and I came here for weekday AYCE lunch and were impressed by the food quality, flavors, and service. Though the restaurant doesn't have much seating, we only had to wait a few minutes for them to clean a table and seat us. Our food came out fast and I got to have my favorites like calamari, eel handrolls, and salmon nigiri. The mango salad was also tasty. We noticed that although the rules state they will charge for excess food, the waitress was kind not to charge a group of teenage boys next to us who over-ordered and were so terrified that they couldn't finish their food. This was by far the worst sushi buffet experience I've ever had. The food tasted spoiled and had a garbage-like smell. When I told the waitress, she dismissed it and suggested maybe I'm "picky" and should just add lemon to fix the smell. Even the roe on some sushi tasted bitter. We were told we could order three rounds and advised to order the limited "special" items in the first round -- which we did. Unfortunately, they were all terrible. The octopus was rubbery and tough like leather. The sushi rice tasted old and stale. The seaweed around the rolls was clearly pre-wrapped long ago and smelled rotten. Some of the fish even had a yellowish color from sitting too long. We couldn't even finish the first round and told them we were still hungry but the food was inedible. They still charged us extra for uneaten items as a "buffet penalty," which almost doubled our bill. The portions weren't large -- they were just bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To make things worse, there was a sign in the restroom asking customers not to throw food away and instead admit they couldn't eat it, which made it feel like they expect this to happen and profit from it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've tried sushi at many places across Orange County and have never experienced anything this bad. honestly a hysterical situation here but please read their low reviews before ever thinking of coming here. To keep it short: 1.5 hours to get seated and to order , within that time span, we received 1 order of a sushi roll.... long story: first off theirs no check in system, you just have to tell the 1 waiter they had running around you are here and they will call u. No official waitlist. took a while to get us seated but once we did, we had to ask for cups, plates, chopsticks and sauce trays... basically 0 preparation. we finally placed our order in, and were ready to eat. After 30-45 mins, we only received some of the small sides we ordered as well, which honestly tasted frozen/microwaved. after more time I asked the waiter to check on our order. To our surprise it wasn't even prepared.. the chef at the bar apologized while the waitress keep trying to make excuses. Since it was 30 mins til close with basically no sushi we decided to pay for what we received and leave. The waitress tried to persuade us to stay. I said we are hungry and will go elsewhere, where she said "you will wait longer to eat any other place you go to". After I said I don't mind I just don't wanna eat here, she rolled her eyes. She asked the chef what they should do, while he said they can just comp it. I insisted I can pay for what we did eat, but the chef said it was fine, because we barely did eat anything. such unjustified attitude from the waiter with 0 accountability. I understand places get busy and their are many tables to attend to but to not even check up on your tables orders when their is 0 sushi being sent out is crazy. They even have rolls without rice for anyone who is carb conscious. Service was great - our water was refilled quickly and our food came out very promptly. Some of the appetizers left a lot to be desired - like the French fries and chicken nuggets. But honestly what do you expect when you order fries and nuggets at an AYCE sushi place lol. Solid food for a solid price. We went there before heading to the fair and it was the right choice. Chill place, good food, good price. We did the all you can eat option ($40/person at dinner) plus a pitcher of beer ($16) and had a good time. I loved that it was 1 piece per sushi order which helped us try new things without feeling like a commitment. Surprisingly my favorite item was the wings - I did not expect that from a sushi place. We went to this place after an epic fail at the Japanese Festival... we were hoping to redeem our Japan themed day with some sushi... but what a horrible mistake we made! I do not particularly like to write bad reviews... but not only was the food here bad, they literally ripped us off - NO SHAME! We looked on Yelp and this place had good reviews and was close to the OC fair grounds, so off we went. As far as this place goes, it is a small spot, so not many seats available and the location is a sketchy strip mall. Parking here is free. I will say, we were seated in a timely manner though. We all did the AYCE menu. There was 3 adults: myself, my husband, my friend... and we had my 13 month old BABY! Food was slow to come out and when it came it, it did not really look as fresh as other places. Sushi was just okay. For $40 a person, there are MANY other better fresher places. Also, many of the items we ordered NEVER came and when we asked, they were not all that friendly about checking on things we never received. Eventually, it got to the point where we did not even want to ask about our missing items anymore and were just over the meal. As far as the appetizers that came out, most were NOT appetizing. For example, the calamari was mushy, not crispy and seemed like it was just bathing in oil. The best appetizer was probably the gyoza, which was pretty much the ONLY thing my 13 month old BABY ate and even then he only ate a few pieces. Anyways, so at the end of the meal, I took the baby out first to get fresh air because he was getting fussy being in the high chair for a while. My husband paid and for some reason, my friend who always checks the bill, did not check this time for wrong charges. I looked at the bank statement later and was shocked at how much we paid. I asked my husband for the recipient... and they had the audacity to charge us for FOUR FULL PRICED ADULTS!!! They charged my 13 MONTH old BABY the FULL price of an adult!!! WHAT A COMPLETE RIP OFF!!! This restaurant should be ashamed of themselves for BLANTENLY ripping off their costumers!!! Not even a kids price, FULL price for a 13 month old who ate like 2 gyoza. This place is a very quaint and small restaurant in a very unassuming plaza (my friends who met me there missed the turn into the plaza!) Overall I would say this place is okay. Nothing good but nothing bad about it. For $40 before tip it's not terrible but I would rather pay an extra $10-20 for other AYCE places that I frequent. I did love the rice to fish ratio got the nigiri (very little rice to a large slice of fish) but the rice wasn't as seasoned as I like it. It didn't take slightly sweet or vinegary at all. Their rolls are stuffed with too much imitation crab. The one appetizer that we got that wasn't very good was the baked mussels; it was VERY fish so beware.
