Fun place to have a great ceviche and cocktail ...Today i ordered individual size for shrimp cocktail $14.99 and ceviche de cameron $12.99. Quality and freshness talks first for me so price didnt bother me! Customer service was great! Hardworking ppl with a great attitude. Atmosphere reminds me Los Cabos! So 5/5 for sure. This place deserves it and its inside my fav mercado Gonzales north gate market!

My daughter sent a picture of the ceviches from here last week, so when we came into town we had to come try it. This is one of the many food stations in the Northgate Market on Wilson and Harbor. We bought an "Individual" container of two of the ceviches and taste tested two others. All four were fresh and full of flavor. My husband and daughter are looking for our next course inside while I keep our comfy booth in the outdoor patio. What a great addition to this neighborhood. The gal who assisted us was sooo sweet. The chunks of avocado were large and the amount of shrimp and fish and octopus in the various ceviches were quite fair for the price.

Amazing! Ceviche is my absolute favorite food and this place delivered. Mariscos El Pariente is located inside the Mercado Gonzalez in Costa Mesa. There are so many food spots to choose from at Mercado Gonzalez, but I'm glad I chose Mariscos El Pariente. The ceviche was flavorful and not overcooked. They make their ceviche fresh daily in lime. I loved that they have a variety of ceviches to choose from as well as aguachiles. We ordered the mixed ceviche and the avocado ceviche. They were both delicious but my favorite was the mixed ceviche. You can really taste the quality of the shrimp and the tostadas they give you go perfectly with the ceviche. I thought that the prices were reasonable and the service was great! There are many tables within Mercado Gonzalez where you can sit and enjoy your food. I can't wait to go back and try more of their ceviches.

    $13/lb pescado ceviche. Good!

Located in the popular Northgate Mercado, this was my first visit after waiting for the crowd to die down. I've heard a lot of good things about this ceviche so this was definitely on my list to try. First of all, the ceviche to me was just ok. Whether it was shrimp ceviche or pescado ceviche, it had the same flavor. I'm not sure if it was because I'm not a fan of shrimp ceviche but lover also thought the ceviche was just okay. I didn't try any of the agua chili ceviches either. I did appreciate the service as they were very nice and let me try whatever ceviche I wanted. Overall, this just wasn't for me but the other restaurants in Mercado would work just fine.

Came to the north gate market to check out the different vendors and stumbled on this place. The ceviches here are some of the best I have ever tried. They let you sample any of the flavors (they have tons to choose from) and are very generous with the sample size too. We ended up getting the mango shrimp ceviche because of the sweet, tangy, and spicy taste. The shrimp is super fresh and it pairs brilliantly with the mango which gives a nice crunch along with the onions. Every bite is so satisfying and light. I could honestly eat the whole container by myself. It is paid by weight, and this whole container was only 15$! I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you're in north gate, you won't regret it!

Located in the Mercado Gonzales market. They have a variety of ceviches at $12/lb. I asked what the most popular/favorite ceviche was and they recommended the aguaceviche (with shrimp and avocado) and it was delicious! Much better than any ceviches I've had at restaurants around Orange County. I also tried the ceviche with mango and white fish, but didn't think they were as good as the aguaceviche.

One of the restaurants inside of the Northgate Market, but really an amazing variety of super good ceviche. We have been here multiple times now and everything we've had is great. Tangy and citrusy, tender fish. Great kick for the spicy ones. Their chips were also exceptional. They are full tortilla rounds, but some kind of crispy almost puffed rice texture that was unique and great. Can't wait to get it again.

I had blue specs of plastic in my ceviche. They need to use stainless steel mixing containers

Nice little Mexican food spot located where HUB used to be. They don't advertise it on their menu…read morebut they have an unpublished kids menu that includes: grilled chicken with rice and refried beans, chicken strips with French fries or quesadilla (choice of cheese, chicken, or steak) with rice and beans. I really enjoyed the puerto Nuevo enchiladas and my 4 yr old loved them too! He also nearly went face down in the flan with coconut ice cream. My son loves coconut ice cream but now he also loves flan! They have a cool decor in the restaurant and it's very modern. There's a bathroom at the end and they have high chairs if you need them. Service was great and we'd come back again.

Palenque in Costa Mesa definitely nails the moody, Instagram-friendly aesthetic, but once you get…read morepast the low lighting and chic decor, it feels a bit more like a scene than a real value. It's a fun spot to grab a drink for the ambiance, but as a full meal, it leaves a lot to be desired. The food itself is okay--the quesa birria tacos have decent flavor and the carne asada comes with a nice char--but given the steep prices, you expect way better execution and more generous portions. Paying high-end money for pretty standard street food staples dressed up on nice plateware just feels overpriced. Service was fine enough, nothing to complain about, but the value just isn't there for what they're charging. On top of that, parking can be a bit challenging since it's tucked away in kind of a weird location. If you're going purely for photos, fancy cocktails, and a trendy date night backdrop, it fits the bill, but if you're looking for great food value, there are much better spot-on Mexican joints in OC.

LOVE this place for GREAT, FRESH, Coastal, Mexican food!…read moreThis location in Costa Mesa in particular, has been updated (new paint, new chairs, new lighting, etc.) and they have updated their menu with even MORE, Seafood items! They make GREAT Guacamole, customized at table side to your specs and their FRESH Chips, Tortillas and Salsa's are homemade in the restaurant. Husband LOVES their Pomegranate Margherita's and I can't get enough of their Enchilada's (Cheese, Chicken) and their Crunchy Taco's (Shredded Beef is my Fave!). Add in that their FRESH, Side Salads are AMAZING along with their new menu items - including Seafood combo's and there is no where else to go in OC for better Mexican food! Our INCREDIBLE Server, Hector (He IS the Acapulco restaurant - always upbeat and advising us about their new menu items!) and their FANTASTIC Chef Hector and all of the other Servers and Cooks there, make this a casual, yet special date-night restaurant! P.S. We've also tried their EXCEPTIONAL, Sunday Buffet and literally had to almost be wheeled out of there, there were SO MANY DIFFERENT, AUTHENTIC foods to choose from and sample! VERY nice to find this level of a PERFECT MEXICAN restaurant - with HIGH QUALITY FOOD INGREDIENTS, nearby! Can't wait to go back!

My server was very friendly and brought me chips and salsa about 5 minutes after I sat down. The salsa was really good by the way. I was able to place my order right away as I already knew I wanted the steak and chicken fajitas. The steak had a yummy char on it, and the chicken was moist. They provided a good amount of "fixings." I'm partial to fajitas in Texas. but besides that, I really enjoyed this spot and can't wait to come back to try more of their menu!

I appreciated that the quesadilla was super cheesy, it was a great size too and was perfect as an entree with the beans and rice. I was very happy with the flavor of the beans, you could tell they were cooked with a lot of love! The tacos were delicious as well, the roasted salsa was slightly smoky with a good jalapeño flavor, the meat was tender, and the tortillas had a great chew. The churros are not to be underestimated- they were thick and fluffy, and the dipping sauces were perfect accompaniments. The flan was the super star of the whole night for me- genuinely the most perfect, custardy, unctuous flan I've ever had. The vanilla bean specks throughout gave it such flavor, there wasn't a ton of syrup but it honestly did not need it. There is absolutely nothing that could have improved that flan. Will definitely come back, hopefully dine in and try a few drinks!

Despite booking a 5:45 PM reservation and specifically requesting a nice table for the occasion, we were seated at a terrible spot. The service was shockingly slow throughout the night. We constantly had to flag down our waitress just to get basic attention, and to top it off, my order was completely missed. We would have loved to get dessert to salvage the evening, but we simply couldn't risk waiting another hour just to get served. They did absolutely nothing to acknowledge my husband's birthday, making what should have been a special night completely forgettable for all the wrong reasons. We will never be back, nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone.
