The minute I saw my plate. I knew it was wrong. I ordered chicken pozole before I even took a bite I checked through it. No chicken more like a tomato soup/what's left at the bottom of the pot ...no broth texture at all. I mentioned it to the waiter and instead of taking it back and making a proper bowl of pozole. Just as I recommended 11 years, ago, begin your meal here with the Queso Fundido ($14; $8 in 2014). Between that, the free first basket of chips, a tasty salsa, and the drink (full bar) you're enjoying, you might never get much further on the menu. I haven't. Just like all those years earlier, my meal at Amorelia began as mentioned above and ended with an entree-sized salad (Mango Asada, $24). I vow - next time - to break out of the salad category as the menu is strewn with (and specializes in) the foods of Michoacán. These are offerings not found in your local taqueria. Thought not mine, I was able to sample the Mole Verde ($28), a big serving of organic chicken bathed in a tangy green sauce accompanied by rice, beans, and tortillas. It was a delicious example of the food in which Amorelia specializes. A quick scan of the other tables indicated that mine was, perhaps, the sole table of diners without Hispanic or Mexican roots. This observation, coupled with the knowledge that the place is still filling up eleven-plus years after my first visit, certainly says something good about the place. read more

So Authentic! We wanted to try this nicely dressed up restaurant as it's well rated and after our trip to Yucatan we developed a craving for elevated Mexican food. Amorelia definitely delivered! Our hostess Fernanda was very personable, inquired on our questions instead of saying "I don't know". Kudos for that BIG time! Our enchiladas de mole verde, sopes, peppers on the side, all beautifully presented and delicious until the last bite. Yes, go ahead and mimic our order as it's a nice journey for your tastebuds. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos with scrambled eggs and added steak. The steak had a flavorful, slightly sweet marinade--not really my thing since I prefer a more savory or crunchy bite, but still tender and well-prepared. Very soggy. I didn't even finish half of my dish. My husband had the huevos rancheros with chorizo--bomb.com Crunchy, spicy, and packed with flavor. Definitely a standout dish! I had two coffees (yes... guilty ): First was the Mexican mocha--rich with a hint of Abuelita chocolate. I added a Splenda for some sweetness. So good. Okay so my family and I were in the area and decided to try this place for the first time for breakfast. To begin, the coffee was delicious! (If you like sweet coffee). They have café de olla here and it was amazing. My grandpa loved it and I loved it. And I personally never ever drink hot coffee, but I would definitely come again for the hot coffee here!! Only down side is, if you like your coffee black they do already add the sugar when it's being made so that would not be an option here unfortunately. Okay, now onto the food. My brother and I each tried one of the chilaquiles with steak and we both really enjoyed it. My grandparents each got the Amorelia omelet and said it was very good, and lastly my mother got the pozole and said it was very good as well! The ambiance on the inside was really nice as well, and they also have a bar area. Only thing I'll say is when it came to service it did feel like often times we had to kind of look around for the server and always ask for stuff like a refill on the water for example (since it's a shared pitcher), but besides that nobody was rude or anything. I would suggest maybe just checking in on the table more especially if it wasn't busy! But overall good experience I definitely plan on coming again!! I love this place for breakfast. By far the best chilaquiles you can get, especially with the steak. Always fantastic service. They've been so successful they were able to expand to the neighboring spot. Only suggestion I would have is their cafe de olla is consistently far too hot. Salsa is not spicy at all. It tastes like water to be honest. 1x Alambres de Ribeye 8/10 $24.00 Not bad! A decent slab of meat. But could have been better. 1x Queso Fundido 7/10 $14.00 The cheese was melty. But lacked flavor overall. 1x Mini Sopes 7/10 $13.00 These were just okay or meh. Not the best sopes, but also not the worst either. 1x Taco de Papa 8/10 $5.00 This was alright. A good amount of potato inside. The taco shell was soggy though. I would have liked it to be crunchy. 1x Enchiladas de Espinacas 8/10 $18.00 The enchiladas were good. They came with spinach and corn inside, and a side of rice and beans. Oh, this actually saddens me, but I have to do it. I've been loving this place for so long and haven't been there for at least a couple years. I was craving their green Chilaquiles. I am not sure what happened but the quality of the food and a little bit of service I have to say, but mainly the presentation of the food has declined. I mean before they used to give you there's a lovely plate of green chilaquiles , with either scrambled eggs or sunny side up eggs on the side with beans and they used to put this like jalapeños on the side with carrots and a little bit of greens but oh my gosh, this time they gave me such as small amount of Chilaquiles. They were lacking sauce. I think they maybe did one scrambled egg that was hiding on the bottom of my little pile of Chilaquiles with very little amount of beans no jalapeños whatsoever I mean the plate looked so sad. Today is a sad day. Amorelia's was my go to place when I was craving green chilaquiles. But the chilaquiles just don't look or taste the same anymore. They used to plate them beautifully on a square plate with the beans next to the chilaquiles, a nice portion of meat on top, and a little salad with jalepenos and a pickled carrot. But the plate today looked nothing like it. The serving of chilaquiles and meat was smaller than before, the beans were served in their own bowl, and the little salad I used to love was gone. The price over the years has continued to go up and I didn't mind paying the extra $ when the quality was still there. However, the chilaquiles with steak are now $23 and I'm afraid they are not worth that price anymore. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning after today. read more

First red flag- they charge you for chips n salsa The food is NOT bad, its just not amazing either. For $17-$21 for pazole, I would hope its bomb but it wasnt. $7-$10 drinks ( Arnold Palmer and Horchata) Overall I was disappointed because I couldve made 3 "actually" fluffy pancakes at home , and made my homemade green pasole rather than paying $60 for 2 meals that were just blah. This was our first time coming here and we loved it!! It is such a cute little cafe! When you walk inside you feel like you're transported to a cozy cafe in a beautiful Spanish Pueblo. The service was so friendly and they really make you feel like you're at home! In terms of food I give it a 10/10!
