I had driven by this place a few times and finally decided to try it out. Was pleasantly surprised by how amazing it was. I walked in, asked if I could order to go, browsed the menu, ordered, paid, sat down, was planning to watch tik tok and browse IG but then they were telling me my order was ready and sorry for the wait.....it took me longer to order the food than to get the food I had ordered and they still apologized that it took so long o.O? Service is friendly and welcoming. Food is high quality and tastes great. Ambiance is family friendly - a cross between a cantina and a diner. It was 3pm on a Sunday and this place was still busy with people having afternoon brunch. It's not loud but there is a good level of brown noise ambiance - everyone is talking and having a good time. I tried the huevos divorciados and added bacon and really enjoyed it. I normally have a lot more to say but it I don't know how to describe why it was so good. The flavor and how well it was prepared was so high quality that it should be on the bib gourmand list and yet it is a humble diner where your mom might get brunch on a Sunday. Solid Taco Tuesday spot. Will definitely be back. Came through for Taco Tuesday and it did not disappoint. Self-seating made it easy to get in, grab a table, and get going. Service was quick and efficient--no complaints there. The michelada was on point, and the Taco Tuesday deal is honestly a steal for the price. Tacos were decent--nothing over-the-top, but solid and satisfying. The real standout for me was the beans. Super flavorful, creamy, and easily the highlight of the meal. Ambiance was chill--baseball game playing in the background at just the right volume where you can still have a conversation. Overall, great value, good vibes, and a reliable spot. It's family owned the people are very humble and welcoming. Their regulars are always very happy to see them so there's always positive vibes all around. Super A's is a Mexican restaurant located in Costa Mesa with a large parking lot. It has Taco Tuesday which includes $1.99 tacos all day along with $2.50 beer and $5 margaritas. I got the asada fries ($15.95) and the carne asada burrito ($12.95). The fries had guac and sour cream on the side but the fries could've been crispier. They were pretty soggy which made it hard to pick them up especially with the melted cheese. The burrito had a little cheese and onions but was mostly meat. This means it was on the smaller side. Note that both of these dishes normally come with beans so if you don't want them in your meal you should ask to remove them. They provide chips and salsa if you dine in as well as when you get takeout. The food came out fast and they accept card. read more

The food is consistently awesome, always fresh, huge portions, plenty of chips and salsa and outstanding staff. This place is a homey local Mexican restaurant. It's a little rundown and the margaritas are weak. But happy hour drink specials make up for it. Get beer, it's not watered down. The waiter was straight up retarded didn't even bother to sample wine just served the table My dinner was cold and stuck together because it was horrible. I actually used to come here a lot with my family when I was growing up in HB, not far from Super A's! I love the staff, I miss them, there are times I pass by and want to stop in to say hi. So I hope I can do that soon. And I hope that they remember me. I love their food, especially the Camarones à la Diabla, I always had it with fries. I started going to Super Antojitos on Bristol 30 years ago. My favorite menu item was the wet burrito, or burrito mojado. Just wonderful. That place burned down, and others with the same family popped up, and Super A's is one of those. I have a hard time saying no when my wife suggests that as a breakfast or lunch outing. I can't say I've disliked anything there. The staff are mostly relatives of that original Supers, and are always very friendly and welcoming. A couple of weeks ago I had their menudo. It wasn't offensive in any way. Not too fiery, not too thick or thin, not bland either. A nice, almost subtly chile base for the broth. Plenty of tripe, not gamey or too squishy, and accompaniments to customize it. They give you the option of adding hominy, which I opted for. Very happy with my brunch. My wife went for the burrito mojado with green sauce. Just as good as I remember it. It gets busy on weekends for sure, but waits are usually pretty short, as they have lots of tables. You won't see a lot of white faces here, which to me is a good sign. read more

This is one of our very favorite restaurants! The food is delicious and never disappoints! We love eating here any time of the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My boys really love the burrito mojado with al pastor and my husband really likes the chile relleno. I'm a creature of habit and tend to order one of the combination plates or enchiladas. If you are visiting on the weekend, I highly recommend the menudo - it is amazing! We really love that there are Mexican beers on tap (Modelo Negro, Pacifico, etc.) that we can enjoy with our meals. Everyone who works at Super A's is super friendly and helpful! They really take the time to make sure that you have a great experience at their restaurant. I believe this is a family owned business and you can definitely feel the friendly family vibe that they give to their customers! It can sometimes get a little loud when it is crowded but that does not take away from the awesome dining experience. When soccer is in season, you can be sure to see games on the televisions! If you are looking for Menudo this is 100% the place to be! Super A's only has Menudo available on Saturday and Sunday so plan accordingly. The Menudo portion is huge! You get a big bowl with all the fixings (dried chili, Mexican oregano, onions, lime, and cilantro) which is a must. The amount of meat is impressive. The bowl was filled with meat up until the very bottom so if you love tripe this is the one for you. The waitress told us it takes them almost a whole week to make this dish (from the cleaning, prep, and cooking of the soup). You can tell just by all this processing that it leads to the quality of the dish. Some places make shortcuts to making menudo which makes for a unclean tasting soup but this place preps it so well you do not get any of that. Whether you eat this for the cold weather or the day after a night of drinking, I highly recommend this place for their menudo alone! read more

After reading the reviews, I had high expectations for this place. It is a darkly lit and modest restaurant w booths lined at the right side and the kitchen to the left. Was immediately greeted by staff who welcomed us and provided complimentary chips and a brown salsa. Was not a huge fan of the salsa, would have liked a variety but understand that beggars can't be choosers, esp when chips are free! asked for alternative options, and was provided pico de gallo but did not realize I would get charged! Unfortunately, felt underwhelmed by the lack of flavor of both salsas. Ordered the California burrito. It's a huge portion but was extremely heavy. Did not include the classic recipe of French fries or sour cream, but did add beans. Was only able to finish a quarter of the dish. Tacos had an amazing deal ($1.99/taco). Different options. Also have margaritas and tecates on discount. Overall, the experience fell below expectations. Their saving grace is the service and Taco Tuesday deal. read more

A friend was in town from Vegas and was craving a good burrito, so we decided to try this place. We had carne asada fries, a carne asada burrito, and a carne asada torta (lol I guess we really like carne asada). The portions were pretty good for the prices, they also have 1.99 tacos on Tuesdays which is pretty good compared to other places. Everything was incredibly flavorful!! My kind of Mexican eatery. My dad and I stopped by here after the car show at the fairgrounds. We were the only non-Hispanic people there. I knew I was at the right place. Ordered wet burritos - super tasty. I was only able to finish half of mine. Constant soda and chip refills. The salsa tasted a little off to me, but it could've also been my interpretation. Service was fast and very friendly. Everyone spoke English well. Owner came out and cracked a couple jokes too. The bar area was ripe for a fight starting but it was probably too early in the day. Fairly authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. My fishing buddy is a regular at super A's and has been for years. We met 2 other fishing friends there for lunch and a strategy meeting preparing for a weekend fishing tournament. We all ordered different meals and everyone's plate was clean when we finished. I was stuffed with the carnitas plate. Great carnitas some very crispy, other pieces juicy and soft with all the textures in between. Just the way I love my carnitas and make it myself. Service was good, our server came by to check on us and offer drink refills several times while we were there. Often enough to show that he was paying attention but not intrusive. Considering how many tables he had I was impressed by his attention. Ambiance is typical Mexican restaurant, Spanish music playing in the background, mostly Hispanic staff, and lots of bright / loud colors like red, yellow, and orange. Went here on a weekend for lunch. We got three soft tacos - barbacoa, pollo and pastor and the carne asada plate. The carne asada plate was awesome, the meat and grilled onions were nicely cooked but a bit pricey at around ~ $22. Of the three tacos, the barbacoa was the best so I'd recommend that! The meat was just a bit dry on the other two. That said the tacos are extremely filling and the service was very fast and attentive. read more

Went to dinner here last night and was seated immediately. The son of the owner came over after immediately giving us excellent chips and salsa and then took our order. He talked to us about the updates made and the pride he has in his family restaurant was evident. We hadn't been to this place in well over 15 years and wow-the inside was completely remodeled and looked great. We were nervous that the prices would be high or the food quality would be different but we were amazed. The food, atmosphere, and prices were phenomenal. Solid 3 stars- food was okay. We ordered beef taquitos and got chicken taquitos..ordered fajita that was supposed to have mixed chicken and shrimp and steak- it was only chicken and veggies. Service was A+. Had a funky dirty mop smell when you enter. The restaurant felt dated but clean overall. I'd still come back for the pozole. I hear it sells out before 1pm on weekends!
