Great service! The food was delicious and the vibes were right! Our waiter Laz was great!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. From the moment we walked in, the guy working seemed annoyed we were even there. I placed my order and asked for water, which I never got, not during the meal and not even when we left. I kept trying to wave him down, but he completely ignored me, even though there were zero other customers. The shrimp was also disgusting , chewy and clearly undercooked. When I brought it up, he just said they "cooked it correctly" with no apology or effort to make it right. Terrible customer service and even worse food. Which btw was $25 with undercooked tortillas as well and no drink read more

I just had one of the best California Burritos ever at this restaurant today. The California Burrito has Carne Asada Cheese French Fries on a flour tortilla. The green salsa was amazing!! Again, it was one of the best ever!! Clean restaurant and a friendly staff. Definitely going to be back. Happy Monday everyone!! read more

Just enjoyed a Machaca breakfast burrito, and it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be ordering again.

Enjoyed the great ambiance. Music was fun with great cultural vibes. The staff was very friendly and kind. You need to order shrimp ceviche and tacos. Huge shrimps with a fair amount of tostadas. The Carne asada was very tender and scrumptious. There's complimentary chips and salsa. (Very addicting) They give you a variety of hot sauces to choose from at your table. I can't wait to come back and try their menudo next time I'm in the area. (Available on Sundays) read more

Romans Mexican Restaurant - Sooo dang good. Carne asada burrito. Big enough to feed a family. - Mexican Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

Jalapeno poppers: Pretty standard, always delicious, big portion and the ranch is goooooood. 5/5 Chicken Flautas: I enjoyed these much more than my typical flauta experience! The dough was flaky and the chicken was not as dry as the usual, they also filled it with cheese, which helped. Buttery dough, moist chicken, and generously applied cheese - it's like these guys know the way to my heart. 5/5 Shrimp Burrito: Usually I like my shrimp burritos to be more fresca style, like with white rice, white cheese, tomatillo sauce, cilantro - but this was one of the few that I enjoyed as a tomatoy rice and beans mix up but it was still very tasty! Usually shrimp are overcooked, this was no exception, but despite being a bit rubbery, the tortilla shell was good and I still enjoyed. 4/5 Ordered from here through GrubHub and it was a satisfying and huge meal (like 4 total per person mals) for about $50. My only complaints were the very small portion of the sides of rice and beans that came with the "plate" at the restaurant it is a much larger portion and since Grubhub jacks up the price already it is extra disheartening when the portions are smaller as well. The gaucamole and pico de gallo mix was also nothing to write home about, but the warm food was definitely all very satisfying. Yelp is a must-use before you order from here because neither the restaurant website nor the Grubhub website have descriptions of what the food is (let alone having pictures to show you what you're in for). Yay yelp! read more

Pambazo!! Chorizo y papas! I called every Mexican restaurant from Santa Ana to Newport and NONE (but Roman) had a chorizo y papas pambazo. So e of the food trucks have them but only chorizo without potatoes. Anyway, it was delicious; only thing is I wish the bread was fried. But the flavors were the same and what I was looking for. It's huge, share with a friend. read more

I tried Romans for the first time after seeing it on the OC Registers Oct 2021 Article in the best taco places in OC. I've tried several on the list but not this one. I got what the critic suggested to try the carnitas and desebrada aka Barbacoa, or shredded beef. As advertised, both meats were very moist and favorable. I will definitely try this place again if I'm in the area. read more

A small Mexican taqueria in Costa Mesa that is primarily known for their Rancho Huevo (fried eggs on corn tortillas and topped with fresh salsa). The Desebrada, or sometimes referred to as Barbacoa (slow cooked beef), is also often mentioned as some of the best in Orange County. Tacos are the way to go here. They are hefty sized and loaded with meat that is always cooked to order. (So expect a longer wait time for your orders here.) The meats were all very flavorful but a tad dry and overcooked. Choice of meats: asada (beef steak), carnitas (braised pork), pastor (Shepard style pork), cabeza (beef head), pollo (chicken), desebrada, buche (pork stomach), lengua (beef tongue), tripas (beef tripe) Seafood choices: breaded fish, grilled fish, grilled shrimp, salmon (if ordering as a taco plate only) A comprehensive menu of mostly authentic Mexican dishes includes 30 lunch or dinner plates with meat, fish or shrimp. Prices range from $8.99 to $17.99. Their menu also includes breakfast plates, breakfast burritos, grilled quesadillas, nachos, antojitos Mexicanos or American appetizers, burger combos, side orders, salads and soups. Mexican beers, alcoholic cocktails, domestic and other imported beers, and seafood cocktails complete their menu. There is an impressive array of refrigerated beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, in a huge glass door merchandiser cooler that will rival those of any liquor or convenience store. A good spot for Mexican food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open 7 days: M-F, 9am-9pm, Sun 9am-3pm read more

We had dinner here last night, and I went for El Pastor Tacos. Drinks and tortillia chips are really good here. I drive by here all the time on my way to work, and never had the chance to stop by until now. Food is good, and service is great. Might be my go to spot since I live not far away. read more

If you like food with flavor, this is NOT the place for you. This was my 1st time eating at this restaurant. Super disappointed. The presentation of the food for the most part looks like any other. However, everything that was ordered was pretty much missing seasoning/flavor or overcooked to the point it was not edible. The chicken was so dry nothing could help it. Pastor taco was a little dry and had somewhat flavor. Carnitas were ok. Meat wasn't super dry and tasted ok for the most part. Rice was bland. Chili Verde burrito huge. Will not be returning back. read more

Just disgusting. I'm not even upset because DoorDash gave me my money back. But this "pazole" and "guacamole" must have been made by a Ms. Greta because this is NOT Mexican. They should be ashamed! read more

I was really hoping this place would be good for me to come back since I get my laundry done next door. I ordered a breakfast burrito and I was excited because the size is big. But it's just a thin layer of egg with like Jimmy dean sausage patties slapped on top. The red salsa is just hot no flavor and the green salsa is sour and not in a good vinegar hint type way. I won't be coming back read more

Charged me $27 for a bean and cheese, a coffee, and a chorizo burrito. Didn't think anything of it. Walked home. Pulled up my transactions and couldn't believe it. They charged me $15.99 for a chorizo burrito plus an extra $1 to add potatoes? Come on. This is unreasonable, and it's not cool to over charge your community like that. On top of all that - food sucks. I won't be back. Neither should you. read more

I love this place! My dog and I eat here once a week! The food and service is always amazing!

In this sleepy little establishment, you will find some of the best tacos in Costa Mesa! Roman's is a traditional Mexican restaurant that features a full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tacos, burritos, nachos, tortillas, quesadillas, seafood, Antojitos, soup, salad and burgers are among the choices you will find, as well as a full breakfast menu for those on the morning-time go. Everything is always fresh and the flavors are consistent during each visit I've been to yet. Grab a beer and enjoy the best tacos one will find south of the 405. There are none other nearby. The best! read more

I've been going to Romans for many years but have been disappointed in the last couple of years because their prices are outrageous and they add a 4% charge now to your bill. The owner charges a dollar extra for each little small round container of salsa that you order and you're only allowed two small containers per burrito! They used to have an amazing salsa bar but stopped doing it, I think it's because of greed and not because of inflation, my Mexican style breakfast burrito was $16.99 because I added potatoes and bacon that is ridiculous. and it was $5 for a few more small extra salsas that are not even filled up all the way. I had forgotten that my last experience going there was disappointing because it was so expensive but I decided to try it again. I will never go back it was $46 for three breakfast burritos that weren't even as good as they used to be. Super disappointed read more

Solid little spot in Costa Mesa. Tacos were packed with meat and the salsa and tortillas were ok. Not the best. I would have to say that the carnitas and asada were just a little bit bland (add a little salt) but the barbacoa was legit! Would highly recommend if you are in the mood for barbacoa. Will not be disappointed. read more

Everything has gone downhill at Romans ever since he bought out Filomena's. The food has no flavor to it. Last time I got my two tacos they were dripping with grease. I used to go there 2 times a week. Not anymore. The service has gone downhill. The ambience was ruined by trying to match up Filomena's. It used to be so nice. It's a shame. read more

The breakfast burrito with the tater tots are soooo goood! Keep up the bomb cooking!!!

There should be a warning sign somewhere visible that states "This is NOT Mexican Food!" Doesn't even resemble it from a flavor standpoint. No cilantro, no lime, no onions, no salsa bar, etc... Furthermore, 1 breakfast burrito (without potatoes) and 2 Tacos cost me $27.57.... no drink and no chips. Ridiculous. None of these items had any flavor! Bizzzare!! read more

Terrible location. Food tasted like it was preheated prestored. Just not authentic at all. Shoutout to the female taking the orders. Terrible singing voice, terrible memory. Asked her for a RED pozole, waited a cool 10 min, and was served GREEN pozole. And she was complaining to me about it. Whatever the case was, location inside is shitty, customer service is shitty. Everything was just unprofessional read more

Ordered a steak and cheese burrito through DoorDash. I didn't think it would only come with cheese and meat... usually at a taqueria, you get rice, beans, cilantro and onions. I think that's pretty standard... So if you ever DoorDash from this place, make sure to specify. The meat was bland and over cooked. I conclude this burrito was not worth $10. Also ordered pozole which was huge but not very flavorful either. Probably compensating. $10 also Overall the food is nothing special read more

Welp. I've ordered from this place before on uber eats. Last time they included an Allergan I asked to be taken out of my food (a garnish really) and they forgot it. This time they undercooked the shrimp on my shrimp salad by A LOT. Like sushi places have less alive shrimp. That being said, they have a good green salsa, Mexican coke and quesadillas. I hear the burrito was similarly awesome. But you undercook shrimp and it could get really bad. If I get sick I'll update this review to 1 star. read more

1 star for not wearing a mask while they made my food. They should close them down. I asked if he wore a mask and they said yes but ignored my request. 2 out of 3 without a mask. Also the tacos are too over priced. 3 for a taco? If I get 5 it's already 15 and without a soda. If u Latino or Mexican u will know they are over pricing without the quality. read more

I have one word for this local Mexican favorite DELICIOSO!!! Tacos, enchiladas, tortas, burritos, taquitos, and quesadillas just to name a few. I have been coming here for years the ingredients are always fresh, the flavor authentic and the customer service is excellent! I've tried this place twice. Didn't like it. Prices way to high. We came at dinner time and only one other customer. He got a beer and snacks. This place is easy to miss, if it weren't for Yelp I wouldn't have known about it. When I moved to Orange County I desperately started seeking authentic Mexican food. I was super glad when I discovered Roman's. It's great. I usually order the bean and rice burrito. I love the beans and the rice. The nachos and tacos are also delicious and authentic. This is definitely my go to spot whenever I am craving Mexican food! Also, they have about 4 different variations of red and green salsas and all of them are soooo good on top of the food. I highly recommend this place if you want real Mexican food. It's so good. read more
