We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

Because of the good experience I had with having Clean Solar install panels at my house I reached out to them to see if they would service panels installed by another, and thankfully they accepted the job. After some back and forth with their customer support, they remotely assessed that the inverter failed and they would install a new one for a reasonable price. Clean Solar employee Jose arrived early for the install and he was very polite and relatable. He replaced the inverter and did not leave until he made sure that the system was back up and running and production was being reported in the app. I recommend Clean Solar to anyone needing their panels serviced or to install a new system. Jose is an excellent employee and my mom had a great experience working with him.

The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. We originally chose them a few years ago because they offered free solar panel removal and reinstallation when we eventually needed a roof replacement. The initial install went fine, but trying to get them to honor their contract now has been a nightmare. Bait and Switch: They are suddenly demanding a $3,600 fee for the removal. Even their salesperson admitted this fee was not indicated in our main agreement from 2021, but is now picking apart vague fine print (outside of our contract) to justify it. We have sent the contract over multiple times and asked them to highlight the language where it specifies this charge. Unethical leadership: Leadership is aware of this $3,600 gap, but they don't want to back down. Terrible Customer Service: They are dragging their feet and refusing to coordinate with our roofer, who has been consistently asking for dates to remove the solar. Ignored Emergencies: We explicitly told them we have an active roof leak and asked them to prioritize the removal so we could fix our home. They did not care. Once they finish your initial install, they will abandon you and refuse to give you the time of day. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. If you are looking for solar, be very wary and look elsewhere.

SunVault Solar offered the best value and was easy to work with from start to finish. The replacement took about 1.5 hours, and the technician was knowledgeable, efficient, and professional. The new microinverter came online immediately and integrated with my existing Enphase system without any problems. Great service, reasonable pricing, and quality work. They are a lean team. No huge marketing or operational overhead. His quotes have been some of the best out there and for the quality and service he provides I don't think there is another solar contractor that is better than Aleksei. He is more than happy to accommodate your request but I highly recommend asking his thoughts. I had an existing enphase solar system and he more than doubled the solar capacity and added 2 PW3 all for a fraction of what others quoted. I thought I was buying the 3600 plus with wheels and handle! Instead I got this one which is a Pro model and as you can see by the picture on the box it had no wheels or handle but this one Does, not in the picture on the box but the actual generator did and was the Explorer 3,000 Pro, not the Jackery 3,600 Plus which showed the wheels and handle in the picture!

The owner of that business recommended Sunlight Electrical to fix my system. I spoke with Carlos at Sunlight. He sent out Isaac who seemed very capable. Isaac's assessment was that my system had multiple wiring issues and recommended a service that would require a larger team to complete. He explained why, and I concurred with Isaac's recommendation. Carlos scheduled a larger team to come out the next week. They were led by Jesus, who also seemed quite knowledgeable. Jesus and his team worked diligently for 4 hours. They found more wiring errors as Isaac has predicted. And they found a damaged Tesla MC2 unit on the roof which had cracked. After they completed their repairs, the system started operating better than it ever had before. I estimate that I am now getting an extra 10-15% more power from the solar panels. In addition to providing capable technicians, I really appreciate that Sunlight is so easy to work with. I asked several highly technical questions and always got thoughtful answers. If you want something done a specific way, just ask them. They have such a positive, customer oriented attitude that makes them a pleasure to deal with.

This included removal of the old units and ductwork, new ducting throughout, a two-zone ducted heat pump system with two new air handlers, an outdoor heat pump, and a ceiling-mounted cassette unit for our primary suite (a room that gets a lot of direct sun and had always been tough to keep cool with the old system). Teodor, our project manager, did a great job assessing our home and specifying the system. The installation crew, Azamat and Val, did excellent, careful work removing the old system, running new ductwork, and installing all the new equipment. The install took about 7 days. Communication was great throughout; scheduling, installation, and permitting all went smoothly.

Fuse came in significantly lower priced than everyone for a superior system. We wanted to add an additional vent on the main floor, and some dampers for a few of the vents and everything went like butter. Lex and Maxat were the nicest people, arrived on time, left at 6pm each day leaving the house clean. It was a 3 day install and they finished on the third day. Beyond what they needed to do, Lex walked through things that would be checked by the inspectors even on work they didn't do (GFCI plugs close to where the old unit was), and walked me through why they did some of the things they did because I was curious. We're 3 days in so far, but the installation experience was great, and the daikin system is cooling the house great (and I can already see from the energy monitoring systems we have, it's so much more efficient!).

He was very knowledgable about the HVAC systems used for the homes in my neighborhood. He was able to quickly confirm the issue, diagnose the problem, and find a solution. He then performed a series of tests to confirm the issue had been solved. During each step of the process he explained what was happening in a way that was easy to understand. Not only did they not listen to my needs, the whole time they offered solutions that cater to what they want instead of what I want. 1. They recommend dual zoning which cost about the same amount as installing a new mini split. I have a single state HVAC which isn't recommended for dual zone install. 2. They keep pushing for fixing/upgrading central instead of installing mini splits. 3. They keep asking for my budget (red flag), talking up high end units (red flag), talking down low end units (red flag). Look, we all know Mitsubishi and Daikin are the top of the line. However, the cost of DOUBLE of the price of lower end models isn't due to just superior quality and technology. Heat pumps and mini splits are not new technology. One isn't vastly superior to another. Yes, it may be better, but not double the price better. The cost are always due to the commissions and kickbacks for these installers. That's marketing and salesmanship, but please be more transparent next time. Finally, I asked for quotes and options so I can decide. The person walked away disappointed and I suspect they think they lost a sale because of the way I did not want the highest end models and stayed firm with my mini split request. I sensed the guy walked away disappointed. Yet I still expected a courtesy quote like the other installers. They never sent it. I was not surprised. In the end, I decided that a whole system upgrade to mini-splits (30% more efficient just from being ductless alone) with rebates made more sense instead of add ons to existing system. But these guys did help me cross them off the list and went with the installer who actually listened to my needs and gave the recommendation and options that I wanted. I do not recommend these guys. They will push for the highest cost system and will ghost you if you appear to be knowledgeable enough to call them out on it.

We took our work van to Stress Free Auto Care after finding them on Yelp. They were close to home and, more importantly, veteran-owned. As a company that supports veteran nonprofits, we were excited to support another veteran-owned business--even though their pricing was higher than other shops we considered. Our van had been having issues starting and randomly shutting off. They quickly diagnosed it and sent us an estimate for around $1,200, which we approved. We were told it would be ready by the end of the day and picked it up the following morning. The very next day, the van broke down multiple times on the freeway, nearly causing accidents. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying. We immediately contacted the shop and were told to bring it back. We had to leave the van at a jobsite and figure out how to get it back to San Jose, which created even more stress and disruption to our business. We dropped it off in the morning and heard nothing all day. The next morning, we had to follow up ourselves, only to be told they were still running diagnostics. We were then told there was now another issue that would cost even more to repair. If the original diagnosis was incorrect, I expected the shop to take some responsibility and offer a reasonable solution. Instead, the resolution offered was a "free" diagnostic--which is essentially already credited toward service anyway. There was no real effort to make things right, no empathy for the situation, and no meaningful resolution. We were basically told we could come pick up the van. Business owner to business owner: this is not how you take care of customers. When a customer spends over $1,200 based on your diagnosis and their vehicle breaks down immediately afterward, leaving them with a dangerous, non-operational work vehicle, you should be doing everything possible to make it right. This entire experience has been incredibly STRESSFUL. STRESS FREE AUTO CARE?! Yeah, right. Take your business elsewhere.

I cannot recommend Reuben Veek and SunWork highly enough. Reuben installed our heat pump water heater, and his work was phenomenal from start to finish. I am a detail-oriented homeowner who tends to research major projects heavily before making decisions, and Reuben was one of the rare professionals I have worked with who was not only willing to engage at that level, but clearly welcomed it. He was meticulous, patient, technically knowledgeable, and extremely thoughtful in walking through options, installation details, incentives, and long-term maintenance considerations. When I had questions that went beyond what I could find on my own, he either knew the answer immediately or tracked it down quickly and got back to me. SunWork's nonprofit model also made a major difference. Other installers quoted substantially higher prices for the same general project, but SunWork's pricing was so competitive that I was able to use available incentives not just for the water heater installation, but also to add valuable related upgrades, including a whole-home surge protector installed by a licensed electrician and extra anode rods for future maintenance. What impressed me most, though, was that Reuben stood by the project even after installation. We later had complications with the water heater itself that were entirely manufacturer-related and not caused by SunWork. Even so, Reuben remained available, helped me think through options, and provided support when he had no obligation to do so. Knowing I could count on him made a frustrating manufacturer issue much easier to navigate. Because Reuben works across a large service area, you may need to wait for him to be back in your area. In my experience, it is absolutely worth the wait. If you are considering a heat pump water heater or other electrification work and SunWork serves your area, I would put them at the very top of your list. read more

My husband and I recently had a solar installation by SunWork. We are both very happy with our solar system and with the entire process working with this company. Travis Moe was the main contact. He did the site survey and supervised the installation. Travis was professional, personable and enthusiastic. He answered my questions thoroughly and in language that was easy to follow. Our system has 8 solar panels and was installed mostly in one day by Travis and Fernando, a terrific volunteer. Travis walked us through every step of the way. During our inspection, Travis displayed extensive knowledge of electrical code and was able to pass an incredibly detailed and perfectionist inspection with flying colors. I recently got an email from Travis to advise me on how to manage maintaining my solar panels during the recent fires which have left troublesome ash on the panels. I was impressed that Travis was thoughtful enough to reach out to customers with sucj helpful unsolicited followup. I am very happy to decrease my carbon footprint and that SunWork was able to make installing solar on my house affordable. I appreciate how committed the SunWork staff are to being Green. Excellent experience. SunWork installed a seven panel 2.1 Kilowatt system on my house in Sunnyvale for thousands less than the estimates of several commercial vendors. Bryan Noel, who oversaw the installation of my solar system, had an intelligent answer for all of my questions, was always professional and punctual in our meetings. I thought his transparency in responding to my questions was exceptional. It takes a leap of faith to trust volunteers puncturing the shingles on your roof to install solar panels. Bryan gave me the confidence that under his supervision everything would go right. I was particularly impressed that Bryan came out to our house to sit and wait for the city building inspector to come to ensure that everything was approved. He then helped me set up the computer monitoring system and walked me through the complicated power sharing document from P.G.&E. He made every step of the way understandable and easy. Our monthly electric bill is about $40, making photovoltaics more of a green choice than a big money-saver. With SunWork I could afford to help protect the environment. The process to install my new heat pump water heater (HPWH) could not have been easier or more enjoyable. Reuben and another SunWork colleague were extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with, and pleasant. Reuben answered every question patiently and in as much detail as I wanted. He also handled the rebates directly for me, so I paid less up front and didn't have to do anything to to facilitate the rebates being paid to SunWork. Reuben also solved the problem of finding enough vertical space in the garage for the HPWH by sawing a built in wooden platform and removing half of it, at no extra charge. The city inspector was there less than 10 minutes and complimented SunWork for having done the installation properly. I would absolutely recommend SunWork and would be delighted to work with them again. I like their non-profit volunteer business model. I am happy I went with the heat pump water heater technology. SunWork was, without a doubt, the most comprehensive and perfect service we have experienced. Typically the cost of any remodel, addition, or home improvement has followed the old saying of twice as expensive and three times as long as the initial quote but this was not the case with SunWork. From start to finish Bryan and Reuben were there to answer any questions and to keep the job moving forward. We added 15 panels in a single day, helped installed our own panels, got to know and work with some cool individuals, and got our system up and running in less than 24 hours. I rarely proselytize for one business or experience over another but, in this case, it made both cents and sense to have SunWork supply and install and connect our solar panels. We have a less than 5 year payback time on our panels and SunWork was with us through design, quote, installation and city inspection! Amazing! read more

SunWork installs photovoltaic (solar electric) systems only for non-profits, and for people with electric bills under 100$/mo, ie, very long pay-back periods. My project presented several challenges. Reuben Veek, the principal lead of SunWork, had to pull 110 ft of cable through three structures and underground conduits to reach my one sunny location. He dealt, very patiently, with three dubious arguments at my building dept, over a period of five months. Once the permit was issued, he installed the system fairly promptly. He was always positive, always hopeful, always a pleasure to work with. Oh, and his price was less than half of what several commercial installers quoted me. read more

SunWork was a very smooth and easy contractor to work with. I worked with John Beard to ensure my new roof was unobstructed for the foot print of the panels and my service panel was upgraded to the current code. John gave me all of the options available, sizing, and micro inverter vs. string inverter. The work was scheduled for 2 days but completed in 1!! The install crew was prompt, knowledgeable, and cleaned up when they were done. The project came in $442 under budget! SunWork took care of the permit, drawings, meeting with city inspection and PG&E Solar agreement. I would highly recommend Sunwork for any solar project. We were completely satisfied with our solar installation and happy to be part of the team that worked on our installation and that of our neighbor. Because we were out of the Bay Area (Santa Cruz), it took awhile to get volunteers but we had a terrific lead in Matt Thompson of Day One Solar here in Santa Cruz. He and Reuben Veek were professional from the start and we enjoyed every minute we were up on the roof working with Matt. SunWork fills a niche for households using less than $100 of electricity monthly. We easily fit into that category and were so happy that SunWork was willing to work with us in Santa Cruz. Bryan from SunWork was awesome to work with. He was meticulous in the design and implementation of the project. While designing, he even took into account my concerns for a potential remodel to the house. My service panel needed replacement (an old Zinsco) and they subcontracted it to Henry (California Light & power) and provided me just one contract to work with. I was on the fence for a while about going Solar, but the quote from SunWork was so competitive that it was a no-brainer in the end. read more

It's an amazing company!! They installed a complete system on my house. I usually do the work on my house and can be very specific on doing a job right the first time. They were more careful and detail oriented than myself! They have a different business model than other solar companies. They use volunteers for the grunt work, thereby reducing the cost by about 30%. I volunteered for a few days first, then I helped with my install. It was a wonderful experience to work with Bryan Noel, senior project manager, from designing to installation and setting up a top-of-the-line monitoring system with state of the art features. The workmanship was superb. Bryan designed the system that fit smartly on the roof of my custom home where some other major companies had attempted, not as successfully. Because of the good experience I had with having Clean Solar install panels at my house I reached out to them to see if they would service panels installed by another, and thankfully they accepted the job. After some back and forth with their customer support, they remotely assessed that the inverter failed and they would install a new one for a reasonable price. Clean Solar employee Jose arrived early for the install and he was very polite and relatable. He replaced the inverter and did not leave until he made sure that the system was back up and running and production was being reported in the app. I recommend Clean Solar to anyone needing their panels serviced or to install a new system. Jose is an excellent employee and my mom had a great experience working with him.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

For anyone either new to solar systems or looking to replace an old one, I highly recommend Cobalt Power Systems for three reasons. (1) Time will tell, but I would say product quality is excellent. (2) Alex provided me with accurate and reasonable cost estimates, so I know what to expect. He also offered payment options. (3) Everyone on the team was a good communicator--ready to answer my questions and accommodate my travel schedules. The funniest thing happened on the first installation date--it rained! The team cheerfully used the time to help me clear out my garage, put the new panels in my garage and organize them so they are ready to use. Then I just google searched & found this company with 5* rating and thought of giving it a try. What happened: When I called 'Pacific Edge Electric & Solar' it went into voice mail, but within 2 minutes I got a text message - " we will be calling you in 10 minutes". I was so surprised by their fast response as I tried connected with other companies as well and never got response from them. Adem from Pacific Edge called me in few minutes and he asked me what's the issue. I explained him & he assured me that he will stop by within few hours. Then a representative called me and took the details from me. It was very fast moving service & response from their end. Their services: Adem texted me the time frame when he will be coming. He came & inspect everything max within 15 minutes and found the issue. Fixed it. & he explained me the issue - why it happened & how it needs to be fixed. Also he charged a nominal fee. I was extremely happy with his prompt service starting from responding me. He considered it as priority work & made it done.
