No consumption CTs installed (there should be 4 more wires next to the blue and white pair)

TL;DR, Stay away from this installer! Do not use this company unless you have a ton of time to waste and want to learn all details of solar installation. There are several negative reviews of them, but all were blamed to the company. To prevent this review being treated the same way, I want to be clear that this review is for Freedom Solar based in Campbell (95008) whose owner/president is Rich M. I seldom leave Yelp reviews, but feel that I have to share my experience with more people regarding this company. Also, their ops manager Michael C. encouraged me to share my experience here. Comparing to most other reviews here, I believe I know a bit more details regarding how solar system works, since I have a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering. Before signing the contract, everything moves fast, and very person I talked to was responsive and reasonable. However, once I signed the contract and the made the $1000 deposit, everything stopped, no actual response from they anymore, except saying "will get back to you", but never did. After waited for more than three months (original estimation was 6 months, so they said they did me a huge favor), they contacted me and told me that they could schedule the installation after two days. This was a short notice, but I adjusted my schedule. Then, in the next day, the screws showed up in front of my house without any notice, and wanted to start installation. In the email from Dylan C, he said "We are going to use the Ironridge Flashfoot 2 flashings for your project. These are the equivalent to the Pegasus flashings!", but the crews actually used QuickBolt, which can save a lot of their installation time (google it to find out more), but how long this would last is unknown since this just came out a few years ago. The installation went pretty smoothly and professionally, maybe because of the QuickBolt? And the city inspection went well too. Then the long wait started to get the PTO from PGE. There was no communication or any update from Freedom Solar, the only messages I got every week was the request for final payment. I told them, per contract, my system didn't get the Permission to operate from PGE, which depending the review and approval of the solar system design by PGE. Without the permit from PGE, the solar panels are just useless. But Freedom Solar argues that their contracts with customers require final and full payment after city inspection regardless if it passes PGE review or not. I insisted making final payment only after PGE reviewed and approved the solar system design and sign off the permit to operation (PTO). Because the work has not been completed yet, and here is an email from Freedom Solar: "Once I get the PTO email I will go on the SunPower monitoring portal, turn on your PV, send you an email with access to your homeowner portal." During this time, I contacted PGE many times, and was told that PGE was waiting for installer into upload required documents via their portal, and suggested me to contact my installer. When I contacted Freedom Solar, they blamed PGE for the delay. After another 3 month waiting, the billing department repeatedly sent messages requesting for final payment, and threaten to send the bill to collecting agency. However, the company clearly told me that, they have to wait for PGE's approval before they can turn on the SunPower system and the App. The lady from the billing department then talked to the owner Rich, who is very reasonable, and helped me escalate this to their ops team (who never replied any of my emails), then guess what? The PGE approved the PTO within 36 hours! After the system being turn on, I noticed that power consumption is missing in the SunPower App, which should be a default feature by SunPower as they wrote in the website https://us.sunpower.com/blog/2023/02/02/monitoring-solar-energy. However, Freedom Solar said this is an extra feature and their customers have to pay extra to enable it. I asked everyone I know who has installed solar, and everyone has this feature no matter what they installed, e.g., SunPower, Tesla, or Enphase monitoring system. Their Ops manager Michael C. is very rude and unprofessional, and was willing to spend 1 hour arguing with me in front of my electrical panel rather than have it installed. This Michael from Freedom Solar Campbell insisted the customers have to pay extra to enable this, because this is not in the contract. The contract is really simple, and basically has nothing inside, not even mentioning about the monitoring system. If I had made the final payment, I guess they won't even bother to come and discuss this with me. Michael also told one true by accident, he said his company does not enable several default feature like the panel level monitoring provided by SunPower, simply because they don't want to answer questions due to these features. Stay away from this installer!

After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

    # Extremely Disappointing Experience with Infinium Solar -- Poor Communication and Project…read moreManagement I am a property manager, and I chose Infinium Solar for a newly built ADU solar project. Unfortunately, my experience with them was extremely disappointing. If you value your time and want to avoid unnecessary stress managing your own solar project, I would not recommend using Infinium Solar. ## Initial Experience The sales process was positive. Marcia from sales was responsive, provided different options quickly, and was easy to work with. We chose Infinium Solar because of their good reviews, our positive experience with Marcia, and pricing that was approximately 5% lower than other companies we contacted. Unfortunately, after the project was handed over to project manager Dai Danh, the experience changed significantly. ## Communication Communication became one of the biggest issues. After the initial site visit, there were revisions to the plan, but we had to repeatedly follow up to receive updated plans and pricing. For example, Infinium Solar recommended that our roofer waterproof the mounting anchors to preserve the roof warranty. We needed anchor specifications and quantities to obtain a quote from our roofer, but despite multiple people being copied on the emails, we waited several days for this information. Throughout the project, we constantly had to ask for timelines, status updates, and next steps. Instead of proactive communication, we had to chase Infinium Solar for answers. ## Project Management Issues As a property manager, I understand construction projects are complicated and issues happen. However, the purpose of hiring a professional contractor is to manage those issues. Unfortunately, I felt that I ended up managing the project for Infinium Solar. The clearest example was the roof mounting anchors. Based on Infinium Solar's specifications, my roofer ordered the required anchors. However, Infinium Solar also ordered and installed anchors themselves -- and the anchors they installed were the wrong ones. They eventually asked my roofer to bring the correct anchors for reinstallation. The frustrating part was that my roofer and I had the correct anchors based on Infinium Solar's own specifications, while Infinium Solar did not. The anchor count also changed multiple times (34 50 56), causing additional cost and delays. There was supposed to be a $100/mount deduction because my roofer handled the mounting and waterproofing, but I had to repeatedly follow up before receiving updated pricing. The battery installation was another major issue. The battery location recommended by Infinium Solar was approved by the city but rejected by the fire department during inspection. This required relocating the battery and caused weeks of delay. The relocation also damaged the wall. Infinium Solar initially did not clearly take responsibility for the repair until I informed them my GC would complete the repair and bill them directly. At that point, I had already lost confidence in their work and used my own GC to ensure the repair quality. The timeline was also disappointing. Before signing, we were told there would not be delays after permit approval. However, there was a five-week gap between permit approval and panel installation, even though the installation itself only took one day. ## Billing and Quality Issues The project pricing changed multiple times. While some changes were expected, the anchor-related pricing was poorly managed. Infinium Solar provided incorrect deductions based on outdated anchor quantities, and I had to provide their own previous emails to show the correct count. I also discovered multiple versions of the CAD drawings, and the latest CAD did not reflect the correct anchor quantity. Even after discussing the correct amount with project management, the billing department still sent an incorrect invoice. The installation team also damaged our roof during installation, requiring my roofer to repair the roof membrane afterward. Infinium Solar did pay for the repair, but this should not have happened. ## Lack of Ownership The biggest issue throughout this project was the lack of ownership. After signing the contract, it felt like the level of attention and care significantly decreased. There were repeated examples of internal miscommunication: * Incorrect anchor information * Wrong anchors installed * Incorrect billing * Conflicting instructions from different teams I frequently had to identify problems, coordinate between parties, provide documentation, and push for solutions. A professional contractor should manage the project -- the customer should not have to manage the contractor

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. I can't say enough good things about Carlos Gomez from Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions…read more I've been working on a non-standard solar setup using an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra X and EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, and finding a contractor who truly understood this type of system was incredibly difficult. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. If you're in the Bay Area and need electrical or solar work done the right way, especially for a non-standard or custom system, I highly recommend Carlos and the team at Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions.

Juan and his team are true solar experts and know exactly what they are doing - they were great at walking me through key details I should know about the system, how to best take advantage of having a solar system, and did their best to get me scheduled (in spite of multiple difficulties) for installation before the end of the year. Just for context, I've talked to another solar company where clearly they were just about trying to close the deal and sell sell sell, which really turned me off - it felt like they just wanted our money as opposed to wanting to understand what we really needed. Juan's team really shined here by just showing up to be real experts who are thoughtful about what system you need, as opposed to trying to close a deal. Juan and his team were also really patient and flexible. Our new home's solar system had to be turned on before we could start any work, and that process took months due to Sunnova going bankrupt. And, they were also really thoughtful when we mentioned we had added in some upgrades that would affect electricity use (ie saunas and outdoor electric heaters), and they reassessed their initial project and updated it to accommodate that.
