    Criitter guard gap

Got critter guards in 2023. They worked fine until last September, see the gap in a corner of the panels. A squirrel got in and damaged a panel irreparably. Simply Solar showed up October 8, bypassed the broken panel and repaired the critter guard ... I believed when I climbed up the roof later. I thought that I had done a superior job. But ... not so. The system went down and when I inspected the roof October 28: THE SAME DAMAGE TO THE CRITTER guards and yet another panel broken. Called up and experienced heavy push back. "It could be the inverter." Send them an email and asked them to take responsibility for not fixing the root cause. Nothing. Got a call with even more push back; Why? the agreement had not mentioned fixing the critter guard. Unacceptable. Their own website has glowing reviews.

    oversight missed

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Stop treating a $30,000 project like a $300 job -- or it could end up costing you $3 million NOTE: If you're considering a contract with Simply Solar and have any questions or concerns, I'm happy to share my experience and discuss further. Feel free to reach out via email at ethinkgreen@gmail.com. ###### May 2025 Simply Solar communicated that the final inspection is scheduled; however, we discovered that a large section of roof tiles was removed and not properly reinstalled as required. How was this oversight missed? Once again, there appears to be no one assigned to inspect or verify the work. Had this gone unnoticed, the inspection would likely have failed, causing further delays. This is part of a recurring pattern of poor workmanship from Simply Solar that I have observed consistently across multiple installations. ###### April 2025 OMG -- Things are repeating again. I now feel terrible for ever referring any customer to Simply Solar. I even referred my own family, and unfortunately, problems started right from the beginning: They sent two teams for the installation, but within just a few hours -- after wasting time -- both teams left. We were later informed that they were no longer working with Simply Solar. After that, they sent a single person -- without a hydraulic lift table cart -- to unload the Tesla Powerwall 3 from his truck. It dropped! and my family was injured while trying to assist. This situation presents a strong legal case -- just so you are aware. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? It should have been obvious that this is not a one-person job. A single person cannot safely handle a Tesla Powerwall 3 alone.

Great communication and work by simply solar. This review is long overdue but the crew run by Andy was spectacular. My rooftop looks great and we have had 0 problems with our solar and battery setup since. Dave, the regional manager came out to our house for the initial site visit. Jack led the communications after. Both great. Would definitely recommend.

two strings of solar panels on front side of house

Simply Solar offered me the best value for my money from over 10 firms I got bids from and got my solar panels and battery on to my single-family home in less than two days flat. They also came up with a creative solution to solve a challenge posed by my legacy 2005 main panel whose upward-opening door was only 1" away from the PG&E meter when fully opened. PG&E just imposed a new rule that it wants a 3" distance, which could have been a problem. I have no idea how Simply Solar pulled this off, but they got PG&E to agree to timely install the gateway between the solar battery and my main panel to ensure the city inspectors would sign off on the implementation despite my main panel being close to the meter, and it worked. David Frank, the account executive, did a great job of making efficient use of my time when we were discussing what size system to install. He listened attentively and actively and answered my many detailed questions. He has many years of experience and an encyclopedic knowledge of home solar installations. I chose Simply Solar over all the other firms I got bids from because they (1) have a large number of online Yelp and Better Business Reviews, and (2) their average review rating is extremely high, and (3) they offered me the best value for my money out of all the firms I got bids from. When it came time for installation, Simply Solar did not disappoint. Andrew and his team showed up on time and got the solar panels on the roof and the batteries on the wall in less than two days flat and left the worksite spotless. Andrew showed up again on the day the city inspectors came by to inspect the system. Once we had permission from them to turn the system on, he took me through installing the app on my phone and made sure I knew how to use it to monitor the system's performance. I've now enjoyed three days with 99% of my home's power generated by the solar system and am looking forward to decades of saving money. Wish I'd done this decades ago! The best time to install a solar system is 20 years ago. The second best time is now. I would use Simply Solar to install a solar system on my home again in a heartbeat and give them my highest recommendation for knowledgeable staff, high-touch responsive service in person, by phone, by email, and by text, setting expectations accurately, and executing as promised. Because I want everyone else to put solar systems on their home to reduce the severity of climate change, I created a deck explaining how and why I chose the system size and components that I did and why I chose Simply Solar over the competition. You can read the deck at https://bit.ly/GoSolar2025 . I also chose to give in-person seminars in my community and and a Zoom seminar online. You can watch the YouTube recording of the online seminar at https://youtu.be/g1rR6LynENI . Go solar right away and make Simply Solar your choice to do it!

We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We met with multiple solar companies and settled on Highlight due to both the great recommendations…read moreas well as our experience during the initial process. We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

Clean Solar - Beautiful solar install on clay roof

    Clean Solar

Unreservedly recommend Clean Solar!…read more Had PV Solar installed when the house was built in 2006. Under our existing rate plan (time-of-use, meaning pay high rates 4-9 pm and low rates the rest of the time), and metering agreement (NEMS 2.0), we were selling more electricity (in $ terms) than we were using. However, we will be forced to switch to the new metering agreement (NEMS 3.0) in late 2026, which drastically cuts how much PG&E pays us for electricity we sell to them--we will end up paying money to PG&E. This motivated me to consider installing a whole-house battery storage system to do "rate shifting"--store the excess electricity generated by our PV system in the morning and early afternoon to power the house during the high rate period (4-9 pm). And of course provides energy in the event of a power outage. I also wanted to take advantage of the energy tax credit before it expires at the end of the year. Reading reviews on Yelp, Google, and other sites, I decided to contact Clean Solar along with 3 other companies. Clean Solar was the first to respond and I had a thorough conversation with a Senior Design Analyst, Art Balaoro. He listened and understood my goals, answered my (many) questions and said he would get back to me with options in a few days. Of the other 3 companies, 2 never responded to my inquiry at all! The other one did, but I had to repeatedly reach out to them to make any progress on getting a quote. In contrast, Art did as he said and responded within a week with several options, primarily around which battery vendor to go with (Tesla vs. Franklin, I preferred the latter) and the battery location. Clean Solar scheduled a technician to come out and look at our house: location and configuration of the main panel, possible battery locations, where the existing PV inverter was, etc. Took a lot of photographs and measurements to verify compliance with building codes. In contrast, the other vendor was sluggish to schedule someone to visit, so I ended up sending them photos and measurements from the Clean Solar visit. Because of the peculiarities of my house's main panel, it was going to be more difficult (and expensive) to install the Franklin battery. And although I would have preferred to put the battery inside my garage, building codes would have required a replacement of the entire smoke alarm system throughout the house, also adding significant expense. Art walked me through these issues thoroughly and so I went with the recommended (and cheaper) option, going with the Powerwall and an outside location. In contrast, the other vendor didn't do as thorough an analysis and wasn't aware of these issues until I pointed them out. When I did get a comparable quote from them (exact same system components), it was slightly more expensive than the Clean Solar quote. I started this process in June, and immediately Art said it was going to be a close thing to finish the project before the end of the year--so many people were wanting to install solar or battery projects and claim the tax credit. Art also walked me through the timeline for the whole process and how it would be managed on their end. Based on the interactions I had with him and others, I felt that Clean Solar was the best choice for my project--and my experience bore that out.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

So I had just been burned the end of the year that cost me 20K in extra taxes. I was mistrustful about the entire industry at that point, but I wanted solar and the tax credits were to be eliminated end of 2025. That's when I called Sunwise and met Ali. He stayed in contact with me, and then came to the house to do an evaluation. From the beginning there was something more human about his approach than my previous experience. He is professional, knowledgable, and an excellent customer service representative. After signing a proposal that was about the same amount of money as the previous one in 2024, we started figuring out delivery and installation. Because the tax credits were expiring, all solar companies had a rush of business. As with any project, there were a few glitches along the way. Ali was always available and able to smooth things to keep the project moving forward. Chris came with his team to install the panels and batteries. They knew what they were doing. I have gone into my attic months later during a big rain storm and there are no roof leaks. After the installation, there was a glitch with the batteries and I still remember Chris and Sam working in the rain, on the phone with the manufacturer until the system was working correctly. Also the previous solar company insisted(at the last minute) that I needed a sub panel for an extra 5K. Sunwise figured out how to install with no extra expense. Ali, Chris, and Sam are owners of the company and that's who I dealt with. All professionals. I can still write any of them and they respond quickly Even though my experience with the previous solar company was awful, things worked out best for me.
