I want to start this review off by saying that the dedication and pride that both Ms. Arga and James displayed in response to my previous experience has given me a different perspective on Sunshine's. After a conversation with Mr. James about the history of this location and the importance of their reputation and providing positive customer service, I came to the conclusion that this food is best enjoyed hot, fresh, and in house. There are a plethora of spaces for all kinds of people, whether quiet and reserved or lively and communicative. Sunshine's has a partially shaded patio that has a great ambience and honestly a pretty good place for small gatherings. To speak on the quality of the food, my experience this time around was excellent. I ordered the Black Bean Burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The patty was perfectly cooked and the addition of the veggies made it such a nutritious and light lunch. The only addition I would make is having a sauce ON the sandwich. However I did get some vegan mayo and a smoked sauce on the side to help with adding some moisture to the sandwich. Overall I am very grateful that I got to have a second experience here as I was hoping to become a loyal customer. Sunshine Vegetarian Deli & Health Food Store, I tried the Sunshine Burger with homemade fries. Most of the fries were gone before they could make it to the picture! The fries were fresh, homemade, and tasted great when served hot. The Sunshine Burger was good overall, with fresh toppings and plenty of flavor. My only personal preference is that I'm not a fan of beyond meat substitutes, so that kept it from being a favorite for me. Next time, I plan to try the black bean burger instead. I also tried the Golden Milk juice, not a favorite of mine. The food was fresh, the portions were satisfying, and it's a great option for anyone looking for vegetarian or plant-based choices. I had just landed in Houston for a work trip and by the time I arrived they were 10 minutes from closing. I felt bad showing up so late but the person who took my order was so nice and didn't act rushed to help. While I waited for my order there was someone cleaning the dining area who said hi and chatted with me for a bit. It was such a welcoming experience. Over the next 24 hours I ate three meals from Sunshine's and all of it was so delicious. The beyond burger wrap was great and the quesadilla was so big I couldn't even eat it all. The nacho cheese that came with the quesadilla was amazing and I was so surprised to know that it was vegan! I took the almond pate to my hotel as leftovers and put it between two pieces of bread the next morning for a sandwich. It was perfect! I'm sad that I don't live in the Houston area because I would come here all the time!
