I came to this location expecting to receive my usual Thursday special. I do not like the hemp protein, and at multiple other locations I have requested that it not be added without any issue or additional charge. Unfortunately, at this location, what should have been a simple request became unnecessarily difficult. I was informed that I would be charged extra simply for asking that the hemp protein be omitted. Charging a customer more for removing an ingredient is unreasonable and inconsistent with the experience I have had at your other locations. This was frustrating and disappointing, especially considering I have never encountered this issue elsewhere. I hope management reviews this situation and ensures policies are communicated and applied consistently across locations. read more

Hubby got a home run smoothie which is their simplest one with apple, banana, and strawberry. He said it was ok. I chose the made to order watermelon juice which tasted very fresh and refreshing. I rarely buy smoothies from shops anymore, but I wanted a light lunch replacement and Yelp suggested this place. Things started off strong when I walked through the door: vibrant decorations, friendly employee at the counter, a myriad of healthy options... It's a shame that my actual smoothie turned out incredibly disappointing. The strawberry cloud smoothie is hardly strawberry; to be honest, it hardly tastes like anything. From my first sip to the last, all I got out of it was a bland experience with only a slightly sour tinge that did not compliment the drink whatsoever. I legitimately thought my smoothie must have been missing ingredients. According to the menu, it's "new" and a "protein favorite" -- statements that I'd consider comical if not for the fact that I'd just been robbed out of $14. Generic chains like Smoothie King and Jamba blow this smoothie out of the water. Even my 1 minute homemade smoothies of milk, frozen berries, and protein powder outperform this by miles. My wife and I made a quick stop in the early morning to pick up some smoothies. I ordered the "Wild Child" smoothie: pineapple juice, mango, banana, dragon fruit, lime, pea protein, maca, and coconut oil. The woman behind the counter was nice enough to suggest to get the smoothie blended (even though its advertisement looks great as it is). Made a great choice, the smoothie was fresh, with a combination of sweet and tartness. The lime flavor really came off strong which I was fine with. Would recommend this smoothie to start your day! There weren't really any seats available to sit down and eat or drink at, just an fyi. Likely will want your items to-go if you're coming here! PARKING The JuiceLand is located next to a Black Swan Yoga (BSY)--like they share the same inside space. I mention this because their parking lot was super full at 7:45 AM that morning with mostly participants of BSY. The neighborhood next to it does not let you park there, there are a number of signs throughout it and even inside the business stating to not do so. Just be aware! We did park in the parking lot across the street from them with neighboring businesses. Thankfully it was early enough for those to not be open. West U has no shortage of healthy juiceries and Juiceland is certainly among the most underrated options. Located along Kirby and sharing the same space as Black Swan Yoga (#1), it is a place that serves as a good option for folks on the go and nourishment post workout. I've been pleased with their smoothie, particularly the wundershowzen smoothie which has a nice blend of banana, hemp protein, spinach, peanut butter, and almond mylk. I also really like the moontower, which is a tad sweeter with the added dates and cacao, but the banana, almond mylk, and brown rice protein even it out nicely. A large is around $9, and is so filling that it practically qualifies as a meal replacement. I've also had good results with their berry fruity smoothies, which are definitely spendier at $5-11 depending on size. I think the morning sunshine is a pick-me-up, since it has pineapple, orange, mango, banana, goji berry, and local bee pollen. The rehydrator is going to be the most complex one with mint, beet, lime, coconut oil, and some fruitiness with watermelon and raspberry, but it's also as much as $12 for a large. While one can order at the counter, there is also a self-ordering kiosk as well. The staff is usually friendly and there aren't too many folks lining up here, except after yoga class. I got the I Dream of Greenie, which had a lot of typical green juice ingredients but tastes mostly of hemp milk, which has a nutty/grassy milky flavor. I got the large, which came filled up to the line but not to the brim like the other smoothies that were made. I wonder if it's because the consistency doesn't flow as easily since there was plenty that was tossed down the drain. The table was covered in pink/red fruit spills, so my cup and others were covered in it when the drinks were ready to be picked up. I wiped the drink, stepped out and wondered why my hand was covered with the drink. There was a 2" vertical crack near the top. It was remade pretty fast since another customer's drink was in the process of being made. The next drink was still a little dirty but was made to the side of the fruit spill, so it was cleaner than the first one. Some of the staff seemed friendly when interacting with customers. The prices here are a bit more premium than what you would expect at a Jamba Juice or Smoothie King but then again, so are the ingredients. I tasted banana and nothing funky, so that was a major win. The shot is a blend of lemon, beet, ginger, garlic, cilantro, jalapeno, tumeric, oreganol and habanero... As it sounds, this shot is HOT. Hot in the best kind of way. You almost immediately feel the strong components of this shot going to work cleaning out your system. It has a strong bite but you definitely feel like you are consuming something really potent and good for your immune system. I also had the 'Bam Bam' smoothie converted into a bowl. I normally go visit this Juiceland on Tuesdays as it is, and luckily the Bam bam is the featured smoothie. I tried as a bowl for the first time and was definitely pleasantly surprised. The bowl adds banana, strawberry and a granola medley. I love acai/pitaya bowls. And I also love it when I receive discounts for said purchases. JuiceLand texted me with an offer so I made my way to their Kirby location. JuiceLand has a couple of locations across Houston including one in Montrose and one in The Heights. They're all a little different. This one is interesting as it shares its place with a yoga studio. The downside of this is that the seating is limited, we're talking three or four tables at most. That makes it more of a grab-and-go type spot. When I'm eating acai bowls, I like to do some of my freelance work so this location isn't the best for me. They have a small parking lot and I was able to snag a spot on a weekday afternoon. The pitaya bowl itself was good. Not the best I've had in Houston but solid. With more seating, and more comfortable seating at that (their chairs aren't comfy at all), JuiceLand would be a four-star experience in my mind. read more

Changing my review to a 3...because as I learned today customer service at this Juiceland varies based on whether they "had a bad day" or not. That is unacceptable in my opinion. I walked in to the store with one person ahead of me waiting on their order. There were 4 workers behind the counter, not one person acknowledged me for 5 mins...not a sneeze or even eye contact... I assume it's secondary to their "bad day" When someone finally decides oh hey there's a customer here I guess I should work, he asks me am I ready now as if I hadn't been standing there looking them dead in their eyes...this was my 6th visit since they opened so I was ready upon entry to the store.
