I came here from Dash, after it switched from Bubbles to Dash. Dash has gone downhill recently, especially after they either let go of the attendant (or she left because she wasn't paid enough or something?), as the attendant was the best part of Bubbles. Anyhow, I'm here to write a review of Sunshine, not Dash! Haha Anyway, Sunshine is definitely cleaner. The machines are newer. One downside is that it's really really hot. Also, it's a bit more expensive than other places in Chico but (a) not much more and (b) it's totally worth it because they spent a ton of money on all new machines. The other downside is that there's no sink!! No running water. That's kind of a huge one. I'd say it's a great place, but I like coming in the evenings and there's an attendant there that STANDS OVER YOU, almost an hour before closing, starts washing the floors around your feet, closing off sections that can be used to fold, and instead we have to all smoosh together in one section, it's a little nuts. Entire time she keeps telling everybody what time they close and "it would be nice if the people can possibly leave earlier" because her back hurts. She even suggested to me that I could "fold my clothes at home" if I wanted to! I was speechless. The final complaint was that it was 106° out that day, and into the evening (9:00) it was still hot out but much cooler outside than I was in Sunshine, because of the dryers. So I like to open the doors when it's cooler, so that the cool air would come inside, but she always closes it, telling "that's my job, I have to keep the door closed." I understand that she's following the rules but sometimes common sense can override some of these things and she can definitely cool the place down opening the door for an hour, especially since she is there to watch over everything/everyone. Overall, I'd say sunshine is a 4 and a half, but I'm so seriously bothered by the attendant (can you tell? ) as well as the fact that there's no sink, so I'm going to rate it a 3, because a sink is pretty essential and the attendant can often make or break a laundromat. So my advice? Don't go the last 2 hours before closing time! Other than that, it's far from downtown, so no worries about the homeless element. I'd still watch your stuff, but it feels safer and it's cleaner. read more

Very disappointed with this laundromat. It costs $4 for a small load and $8.25 for a large load, which feels way too expensive. To make matters worse, the coin machine shorted me, and there wasn't an employee around to help. There was also nowhere to sit because the tables and chairs were covered with belongings from people hanging out there. Overall, not a great experience, and I won't be coming back. read more

Went to sunshine because bubbles (closer to the area I'm staying) larger machines were medium sized and a woman filled every single one of them up and at 7:30am when I got there was slowly adding laundry soap to every single one. Seen the review picture on Yelp and just thought it can't be that dirty so early in the morning. The place was clean, they had 5/6 load size machines and no one was there. No one is on site and I'm literally doing laundry at 12:35 pm. Someone is in here smoking weed inside the laundromat while doing laundry. I had to have my child had to go sit in the car because the whole laundromat smell of weed. Unfortunately my clothes are in the washer so I can't leave. read more

This place is super clean and reasonably priced. I went to the other one in the same shopping center since it had better signage. Then I saw this one and went to check it out just to compare. It's way cleaner and cheaper. Wish I had gone here instead. No one was staffing it at the time. I paid $6 for the giant loader at the other one and this place was only $5. read more

Clean facility for a laundromat, lots of washing machines in varying sizes from $3.25 for small loads up to $7.00 for xtra-large machines. Have $3.25, $4.25, $5.25, $6.00 and $7.00. $0.25 for a certain amount of dryer time. (Didn't use dryers as mine at home is working!). Has a change machine in working order, no problems with the four small washers I used. A few bench seats, and plenty of folding tables available. Vending machine for supplies (didn't use, brought my own). Prices seem reasonable comparatively, but was nice and clean, bright and in a safe location with other shops restaurants and FedEx in the strip mall. Plenty of surveillance cameras, but as with anything any more, would never leave clothes unattended! All decent people in the facility (2 pm ish in a Monday). Would definitely recommend. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT "dry clothes" this place has the WORST dryer ever. I always make sure when I'm drying my clothes to separate them into separate loads it's only 25 cents to dry, but once it's done you're clothes are still wet just yesterday I went to go and wash my clothes spent almost 2 hrs waiting for my clothes to dry and yet they were all still wet and there is nobody there for you to tell. The only time I've seen someone is when it's closing time and it's time to collect the quarters for a day and they don't even clean the dryer lent the worst laundromats I have ever been too hopefully you guys stay away from it read more

Came here today, laundry clean but hotter than hell, no air conditioning on and I won't be back, too cheap to turn on the air!

Needed to wash 2 king size mink blankets. $5 wash, $1 dry. Clean, well lit, security cameras, good number of multiple sized machines. There is a machine to get quarters and vending with soap and softner. No bathrooms and no pets allowed. Sushi, pizza, frozen yogurt all in same plaza so you can keep eye on laundry. *the only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because there was no attendant which would be nice seeing there are a number of transients in the neighborhood. read more

I wanted to leave a review with regards to ethical laundry mat behavior. I left a load of laundry in the dryer for 24 hours. Totally on accident. I stopped in thinking everything was gone of course. Sure enough, the load was still there and I was so happy. I called the owner beforehand and he was nice on the phone. I got everything with a smile on my face. Thank you sunshine laundry and the people of Chico for not taking my stuff. :) Furthermore, the washing machines are top of the line. Dryers too. read more

I have used this laundry mat since they opened. Recently, it has been increasingly dirty. I know there has been additional usage since the Camp Fire, but it's still disappointing. I have been referring people to this location because if it's proximity to eateries while washing. They have been disappointed in the condition of the floors and counters when I've asked if they liked it. I'd love to go back to giving the five star rating. read more

Owner is icredibly rude. Lectured me for propping the door open with a wooden wedge, rather than kindly explaining why he's opposed to it. This laundromat smelled so strongly of mothballs, how do you expect anyone to breathe without proper airflow? Also, no need to be reprimanded like a child. I went to sunshine laundry on Nord ave. The last time I came here was a couple of years ago and the employee literally stood over me as I was removing my laundry, trying to rush me out even though it wasn't even closing time. I decided to give this place a second chance due to my normal laundromat being extremely packed. If anything, it's gotten much worse over the years. The moment you walk in all you see is trash all over the ground. The washers were beyond disgusting with wet gunk all over and extremely smelly. You can definitely tell they are not well maintained. When I opened the dryer it was actually smoking due to all the lint build up. Looks like they haven't been cleaned in months. This might sound harsh, but I wouldn't be surprised if this place were to catch on fire due to the lack of upkeep on the machines. A good portion of the machines were out of order and the ones that were working sucked up a good portion of my money. If I could rate this place a -1, I totally would. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

The place isn't very well maintained or watched. The washers are dirty and seems like when I go wash I get stains on my clothes when they come out from dust or dirt that weren't there before. I went into Sunshine Laundry tonight at 9:20. I had 2 loads of clothes I needed to dry. I walked in and was stopped by the woman who worked there and told that I didn't have enough time to do laundry. I told her that I just needed to use the dryer Ii didn't need to wash anything. The sign on the door said open until 10 pm, last wash was at 8:30. She informed me that it was useless to argue with the owner about it and just kind of blew me off with a shrug. I stood there for a second and she informed me that they were closing in 30 minutes so if I was going to stay I could use the dryer. So, even though I was there 40 minutes before they closed I only had 30 minutes, despite what the sign on the door said. I have been going to this laundry mat for about a year now and was kind of put off by the woman's attitude. I decided that I would go to a different place. I told her she had lost my business, I would go somewhere else from now on. I took my stuff and left. As I walked out the door I suggested that if they were not going to honor their hours, perhaps they should change them on the door. I left and went to Esplanade Laundry and was finished by 10. I also discovered that their facility was just as nice but had a better cooling system. Which is nice since it got really hot at the other place when you were drying clothes. read more
