Best in all of LA; Lower Alabama. Great scenery and unbelievable food. I have been to three of Pete's restaurants at least thirty times since he opened the first Panini Pete's in Fairhope. It is amazing that every time he opens a new shop the quality and experience just get better. My daughter and I stopped by for a quick dinner and it was amazing. We started out with the BBQ shrimp appetizer which is always fantastic. The server brought extra toast to sop up the sauce and all was right with the world. I had the grilled grouper sandwich on a brioche bun. She had the seared tuna BLT on a ciabatta roll. To call these just a sandwich would be like saying the coliseum is just a building. The flavors meld together and the side of grilled cole slaw is great. The meal ended with the bread pudding and a beautiful sunset on the Mobile Bay. Perfect night and amazing energy from the owner and staff to make sure everything is at the highest standards. This was our first trip to Sunset Pointe and hopefully not our last. Great place on the bay with a nice variety of items on the menu. All of the food came out hot and fresh. The crabmeatballs were delicious and were the fried green tomatoes that were the special. I had the fried grouper sandwich with grilled slaw and my husband had a shrimp pasta which he wanted to love but did have specific seasoning he did not love. Wow! Beautiful setting. Gorgeous sunset, this the name. This lovely restaurant is set on the bay in Fairhope, AL The cocktails are handcrafted and the Makers Blueberry was incredible. Great view but other than that terrible. I went in with my friend and ordered the tuna nachos and the tuna tasted like it has been in a freezer for a week. My friend ordered fish and chips which came out without the chips and came with Cole slaw. When we told our server he proceeded to just say oh I'm sorry the expo must have made a mistake then picked up the slaw and never brought out the chips that we are charged for in the entree . My wife and I went here for lunch on a Thursday. We called ahead to make sure that dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area. When we were seated, our server brought our dog a bowl of water. My wife and I shared the simple farm salad with citrus vinaigrette dressing, the tuna nachos, and the seafood lettuce wraps. Everything was fresh and delicious, and this was the perfect amount of food for a light lunch for two. They have a nice selection of local craft beers on tap as well as a decent wine selection and a seasonal specialty cocktail menu. Our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful with our menu selections. The view of the marina was nice, and the deck and outdoor furniture were nice and comfortable. Sooo this place was just O-K. We came here because I saw such great reviews on Yelp, but I was a little disappointed. The atmosphere is nice and the sunset view really is beautiful. However, the food wasn't great. We started with the crab meatballs and they were pretty good, probably the best thing we had. I ordered the grilled shrimp that came with squash and orzo. The dish was bland and overpriced. My husband had the snapper throats which were just good. I would definitely order his dish over mine. Then we were really looking forward to dessert only to find out they were out of two of the three desserts that were offered. So we opted out all together. The view is amazing, the restaurant clean, and the server did a great job. The food is another matter. I ordered the burger and was told it was right at a 1/2 pound. The burger was not even a 1/4 pound and look liked a burger from McDonalds. It was super thin and right at $15. The sweet potato chips were so spongey that they did not even crack. Served with nice crusty bread. Very fresh and you have a choice of ranch, citrus balsamic or Mediterranean vinaigrette dressings. But honestly it's good without dressing! We tried two drinks that were delicious! Cool as a cucumber martini with fresh rosemary and cucumber. The other had fresh mint, raspberry, champagne and tequila. It hurts to write this after several outstanding meals over the last several years, BUT, my last night's entree was abysmal. I've had the bouillabaisse before and it WAS world class, the richest seafood broth I've ever had. Not so last night. The dish arrived at the table with one of the mussels unopened. That should have been the first clue. Who serves a dish with a dead soldier? The first sip bore out the foreboding mussel, there was almost no flavor to the broth and it almost had a sour overtone. Told the waitress who sent over the manager (Luke), who first went to a wrong table. I explained my issue to have him explain there was a cook in training in the kitchen that night. Oops, first customer service rule is "Don't throw your staff under the bus". I explained the broth was tasteless and he commented they were famous for the broth, that it was framed on the wall, and asked if I wanted a copy? Then he offered to bring another bouillabaisse - was the chef in training going to build a complex broth just like that? As my wife was already eating her entree, ordering a new entree really wasn't going to work, so I sent it back, stating I was not expecting to be charged, and I wasn't. On the way out the manager caught me to apologize and please come back and ask for him. He never acknowledged that he or anyone on staff had tasted the broth, nor offered any incentive to give them another chance. We enjoyed casual marina-side dining at Sunset Pointe. Even with an afternoon storm and oppressive heat and humidity, we had a very pleasant meal outside on the covered patio. Food was a pretty solid implementation of basic waterfront seafood. My fish and chips was just fine, and I really loved the refreshing coleslaw. There were a few interesting beers on tap along with a solid wine list. We also witnessed a sunset during our meal. Unfortunately, the actual sunset was hidden behind some trees when we dined, but the area was bathed in lovely hues of orange and lavender. Cover up?it was gulf grouper but the piece was too small. It did not even cover 2/3 of the bun. 20 dollars. Now for craft beer. The bar was so inviting, with its great view of Devil's Hole Lake, but we walked on by to get to a covered patio table outside. We started our meal with cocktails. I had the pineapple monitor and my husband, being a historian, got "the historian" (seriously). It was super yummy - a blueberry jalapeño margarita.
