My husband and I couldn't have been happier with our decision to get married at Sunset Harbour on November 3rd 2023. Every step of the process was a positive experience - from the moment we toured the venue to when we picked up our decorations the day after our wedding (and everything in between!) - we were treated with such kindness and warmth. The staff is very accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure you have the wedding of your dreams. Sunset Harbour is a small, family-owned business, giving it a personal touch that makes it stand out from other venues. Visually, it checked every box for us. We loved how it's a waterfront location away from traffic. The interior is gorgeous as well: modern and elegant. We found that it was on the affordable side compared to most LI venues. We opted for the vendor package (minus photography because we already had someone in mind). Majestic Limousines was prompt and friendly. I LOVED my beautiful and unique bouquet from Floyd Harbor Flowers - it was exactly what I wanted, and the vibrant colors perfectly matched our Fall color scheme. Our guests had a great time on the dance floor, and many complimented our emcee, Jay, from Long Island Sound, who was engaging and kept the events of the night flowing seamlessly. I was blown away when I first saw how our space was set up! All our decorations were so thoughtfully placed. I couldn't have done so better myself! Our guests raved about the food. I received many texts the next day, including one saying "I've never been to a wedding with more food! And ALL of it was delicious!" I went to an event there today and things went from bad to worse. Now I've been there prior to today and everything was great. The event was supposed to be a sit down lunch but when the host arrived they had it set up as a Buffett they refused to refund any money and a sit down is more expensive than a buffet. The event was supposed to be over at 4pm yet the staff started clearing the tables at 3:25pm so the guests started to leave. The host said something to the person in charge and she told her that they were only removing dirty glasses. That was not true. read more

Sunset Harbor is one of our favorite venues! We've held and/or attended at least five events held at Sunset Harbor through the years. It's always a big hit with our guests. We tend to use the smaller room with the Octagon bar and its very cozy. The food and service have always been great and its a pleasure to work with Andy. I am giving this venue 1 star. I would have given them 0 stars if I could. Most of the time I reach out to the owner and if there was an issue/issues and they look to fix it which in my opinion that gets them the additional 1 or 2 stars. This establishment has done none of those things. Here's a little background. My wife and I had our wedding reception at this location in late June. We signed a contract that included their all inclusive package which came with a photographer, DJ, maitre d, premium open bar and a limo both ways. Let's start with the fact that the venue never called us to do any tastings to sample their menu but they never failed to call us when the money was due. The Maitre d at the venue constantly passed remarks about how unprepared we were and was caught giggling about our event to other workers by multiple family members and friends. She seemed anxious and unprofessional which are 2 traits no maitre d should have. The liquor was supposed to be premium open bar. We get there and they only have red label in regards to Johnny walker and no Jameson. I have lived on the island for 20+ years and have gone to multiple parties and events at catering halls. Never seen any place not have those 2 staple alcohols. When I asked for Jameson they told me they did not have it. But when I kept complaining they magically found 1 and told me multiple times it was only for me. For people who do not know liquor red label is the cheapest label out of the Johnny walker line. Nothing about it is premium. The last thing we ran into issues with us the limo. We got a limo to pick us up but when we were leaving the venue as a married couple for the first time it wasn't a limo that picked us up. It was a Mercury Mountaineer. A vehicle that has not been made in like 10 years from a manufacuterer that has not sold cars in the last 8+years. It was embarrassing eating in front of family and friends in such a shifty car. We weren't even told they switched the limo till we we were waiting to be picked up. I would like to say that I gave the venue a chance to sit down and discuss this and they kept making excuses. Management will look to blame you rather than own up to their own mistakes. Never ever hold an event here as you don't know what your getting till the day of and they don't hold themselves to normal standards. Hands down worst experience of my life. Highly recommend avoiding this place. Worst service and management I have ever seen. read more

Just celebrated my sons 1st birthday party at sunset Harbour catering hall and I am beyond impressed with the service, the food, the venue, and the people. My guests are all raving as well. The maitre D Susan is a gem and incredible at setting up and taking care of you and your guests. All the staff were so kind and took great care of us. 2 minutes ago I am extremely upset with this venue so beware if you are looking to book a party with them in the near future. You will be locked into your contract even though there is a global pandemic going on and they will refuse to refund your money and force you to postpone again and again. I have now had to postpone twice. They have all of my money because I paid in full as my first original date in March was canceled 5 days before my wedding! Now I am at their mercy. There has been zero compassion for the situation. I have ended all my recent phone calls in tears. I am being held accountable for a pandemic that is restricting the amount of guests that can attend my wedding and they keep finding loopholes in the system to force me into continuing my contract with them. I am being told to pay in full and ingore CDC guidlines for my first postponed date, postpone again, or lose my money. I was told this is "not their problem" and continue to get the run around. I want ALL of my money back. The happiest time of my life has now been tarnished because of this virus and this venue has only added to the heartache. read more

We had our wedding at Sunset Harbour during Labor Day weekend. Almost a year prior we booked the event. Andy and Cristina are very helpful and knowledgable and willing to make any accommodations to make your event more enjoyable. The day of the event, we lucked out having Kelly as our Maitre D and Lanna as our Bridal Attendant. Both were very attentive, helpful, diligent, experienced and went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The bartenders and servers were a big hit among all the guests. The venue is very nice and very clean. The food is very good and made to order. Huge array of choices from cocktail hour through dessert. The bride and other guests were vegetarian so we were able to make the penne a la vodka and many cocktail hour foods vegetarian. Everything is made to order at a very reasonable price. We have no complaints, nor did our guests. read more

My family threw me a shower at Sunset Harbour a few weeks ago and we all had such a wonderful experience. It was originally supposed to be for last year and they postponed without an upcharge (unlike so many venues). The food was INCREDIBLE (you'll never hear me boasting about a salad, but it was honestly all the food). The staff was exceptional--so nice, professional, and really kept the party moving. I have ADD so the experience was overwhelming enough, so it was so nice to have the staff keeping us on schedule. I also felt extremely safe with all the COVID-precautions that they took. My finance and I planned our wedding exactly one year from our engagement. We were looking for vendors all over Long Island and stumbled across Sunset Harbour. The day we looked at it we knew it was the one. Andy and Cristina (owner and daughter) were the best people to work with. Andy was super welcoming and warm and Cristina was there to answer my millions of crazy questions all throughout the year. Many times, food at weddings is..."eh". We were SHOCKED at how amazing the food was when we did our tasting. The food did NOT disappoint the night of the wedding either :) We had TONS of food and no one left hungry. We actually left with left overs the next day!! We did our ceremony on the outside deck and we had the best time. Cocktail hour followed right after with TONS of passed apps and pastas. The venue itself was recently renovated and is SO CLEAN and pretty. I cannot stress enough how amazing everything turned out. Attended a Sweet 16 this past weekend and they did a great job! Upon walking into our room it was set up perfectly for a party - bar right at the entry way with little cocktail tables around, passed hors d'oeuvres of beef Wellington, fried Mac & cheese, potato pancakes, Stromboli pastry and a table display of crudités and antipasto. The bartender was quick and remembered most of what everyone was drinking - he did a great job. Very personable young man. The main party area is a dance floor in the middle and the table areas are two steps up on either side. It's nice that the tables are a little above the dance floor so you can see all the action. The food was served buffet style - chicken parm, sausage & peppers, stuffed shrimp, chicken stir fry, an assortment of pastas. Salad and bread too. All very tasty. They do packages here from what I understand that includes dj and photographer - the dj was awesome - great dance music all night. The only thing I will say is the place could stand to be updated in its decor - it's a little dated. But not something that interferes with the good times and great service. read more

Didn't even get to eat or drink anything. Tables look over corn hole games and place where kids all jump around and play.... Literally 2 feet from all the porch tables, terrible experience. Sitting for 15 minutes in a 20% full restaurant, staff standing around and nobody came to get us a drink, sorry will be a few minutes, nothing if charging $90 for a steak and $31 for fried calamari and $4/oyster... Better be amazing food and experience. Experience horrible kinda think food wouldn't be that great but I will not be back to try. read more

We recently attended an event at Sunset Harbour catering hall for my daughter and her dance company team. I have to say that we had an OUTSTANDING time from the moment we got there. The service was AMAZING with Susan A. as our Maitre D right down to the great music being played by Absolute Entertainment!!! Did I mention about the food? The food is delicious-which is not always the case in all catering halls. We have attended events like this each year for my daughter's dance company, but this year was all around perfect! I have been using sunset Harbour for different occasions for over 20 years. We just had my church's Christmas party there this past Saturday. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it was and gets better year after year. Andy and Kristina are the best and are so helpful. The staff at the party are wonderful especially Susan. They all took such great care of all of us. The food was delicious! Everyone at church the next day was talking about what a wonderful place to celebrate Christmas. I have had to go to two different events at this place each time was worse then the last. The wait staff seemed to be inexperience kids. And the catered food was not good at all. The first event was a brunch with b the worst eggs, seemed like they were powered to make a big batch. The pancakes were hard little Frisbees. Thank God I ate something before I left the house or else I would've been starving. The next event was even worse then the first one. The food was inedible and the wait staff even worse then the first time. I ask how is this place still inbusiness when food and wait staff age the two major parts of a catering facility. read more

We had our wedding here in October. Andy was so patient and generous with his time and accommodations. Our guests loved the food and the setting! This is a very affordable venue that is all-inclusive, which makes wedding planning too easy. One may think that limiting yourself to pre-selected vendors is not a good idea, but Sunset's vendors are top notch and may have been selected had we needed to select our own vendors. My son was married on 6/22/2018; the venue was wonderful. I can't believe how lovely everything was........... it really WAS. The reason for 2 stars is they recommended highly LifeArt photographers which we hired on their recommendation. Nightmare. After over a year we finally sent notification to LifeArt AND Sunset Harbour (so they would be aware of the awful dvd/service we received) and demanded the dvd. We got it... boy did we get it. If you watched it you would get a seizure it jumps so much. The church was AWFUL, couldn't see the few entrances they did capture because the glare from outside was direct! Not one shot of the parents... the reception just looped and looped ridiculous shots. Like a child did this very important memory in a married couples life. LifeArt said they would fix it and a month later sent the same horrible dvd on disc drives. Oh, and then Anthony blocked my number, NICE. Filed with BBB and then going to small claims court. They aren't stealing our $1700 after destroying the memory. Issue with Sunset: didn't bother to contact us to see if resolution was made... they shouldn't have HIGHLY recommended this photographer, they should be held accountable as well. We trusted them to guide us and they failed miserably. read more

The place was recently redone and is absolutely gorgeous, the food was incredible and the staff was on point all night. I cant say enough about the experience we got so much for the money we paid and Cristina walks you thru the process so your stress free you go there just to party. Best place, best food, best people. I attended a baby shower at this establishment yesterday..oh dear, I am wondering if this was the first time they have ever hosted such an affair? It was a brunch..and while the food was very good, some of it was cold.. (and there were no plates for the desert table ). We sat at our table, half of us had water glasses which were never filled. My 2 daughters actually went up to the bar and got two carafes of ice water and extra glasses for our table. After we ate our brunch, then we all piled our plates up in stacks because no one was coming to clear our plates! My sister, the mother of the shower recipient, had to go and ask them to come clear the tables to prepare for coffee and cake that was to be cut and served. A young man came around with decaf coffee..stating the caffeinated would soon be following. It never arrived. When this was questioned, they stated they ran out and were making more! (Did they not know how many people were attending?) They also had to be told to cut up the cake and serve the coffee again! The best part was when our little niece leaned up against the table and it almost collapsed (with all the dirty dishes that were not cleaned off) on us! We all grabbed the table while my sister in law investigated underneath and snapped the leg into place... I would not have this place host any other occasion for us. The food at Sunset Harbour was delicious. In the months leading up to my wedding, all my interactions with the staff at SH were wonderful. Everyone was helpful and accommodating. However, the day of the wedding I was informed by my close friends that melted chocolate was on both the table and chair skirt and crushed M&Ms were on the floor. Out of 6 coffee cups brought to one table, 4 had lipstick on them. Cake was served earlier than the agreed time (an hour before the end) which caused my guests to think the party was over and they started leaving. The staff was removing linens and centerpieces from tables where guests were still sitting...50 minutes before the end...there was no mistake they were pushing us out the door. I also paid full price for my vendor's meals, but they were only served the main course. I complained to the maitre d only to get a snarky response. Within the last 7 weeks, I have written to the CEO 2 letters (each with different issues) and never received so much as an acknowledgement or a phone call. I'm not even covering the full extent of the experience, but I think it's enough to give an idea. I was very disappointed to say the least. I felt "taken" because I wasn't asking for anything more than what I paid for and what one would reasonably expect at a wedding. read more

Class of '75 had their 40th Reunion here last week. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. Let's start with 3 weeks before the event I called to ask about the menu since I have some dietary restrictions. I was told the menu hadn't been finalized yet. I should call back the following week. Really? Then how did the committee know how much to charge? The next week I tried calling. The first 4 times, nobody answered the phone. The 5th time, I called a different number and was transferred. Again, nobody answered the phone but I left a very detailed messaged and asked for a return phone call. Nobody called. I got into town, the Tuesday before the event and was on their doorstep on Wednesday morning. I explained I was just trying to plan ahead. The woman read me the menu. I asked if they could grill a piece of chicken and steam some veggies for me. She said it wouldn't be a problem. Wrong. The night of the event, when I ask for my meal, I was handed a plate with beef on it. When I explained I had asked for chicken, the man (tall, balding, glasses, mustache, shitty attitude) replied "it was a choice of beef or chicken". Yes, I choice chicken and this wasn't chicken. It was clear he wasn't going to try and right the situation. To make it worse, the beef turned out to be a piece of left over prime rib that had been cut to look like a steak and then reheated till it was gray in color. At this point, I should mention I'm a retired professional cook and I do know the difference. So I ended up with 2 huge pieces of broccoli (apparently nobody knows how to break down a stalk of broccoli), that was under cooked. But hey, at least it was fresh (from the looks of it, it was the only thing fresh that was served that night). Fast forward to dessert. I wandered back in off the back deck for a cup of coffee. Again, the man with the shitty attitude yelled at my friend and me that coffee and dessert wasn't available till after the speeches. I inquired as to a gluten free option and he said nobody had ordered one. To which I replied, I had on Wednesday when I order my gluten free meal. "And you got your meal" was his reply. No, I didn't and wasn't dessert included with meal? At this point, I was thoroughly pissed off. Not wanting to make a scene, I reminded him that this was exactly what Yelp! was for and I would be posting a review. He just gave me a dirty look and I walked away. As for the other things: 1. It was an open bar. The drinks were so watered down it was impossible to even get a buzz off them (I don't drink much anymore, classmates reported this). Plus side - it was below bottom shelf stuff so it was probably a good thing. 2. It was suppose to be a buffet for dinner. The same guy with the shitty attitude was behind the table with the servers making sure people didn't take too much. After all, how was he going to fill those 18 or so take out boxes to the brim to feed the staff if the people who actually paid $65 a head for the food ate it? Yes, one of my classmates opened them and checked it out. I should also mention that when you got within 3 feet of the buffet table, you were knocked over by the fishy smell. Fresh fish doesn't smell. 3. When dessert was finally served, if you weren't quick you didn't get any. Dessert was probably only out for about 20 minutes. I didn't know they still made Sanka. 4. When it was time for the event to end, again the guy with the attitude, thought it would be a great idea to flash and shut the lights off inside. Those of us out on the back deck got locked out. When we hadn't left the deck area, at 11:20 pm he came out on the deck and rudely announced "We are closing, I've locked the doors." He stopped short of telling us to get the hell out. Wow. If you don't mind serving food to your guests that probably came off a Sysco freezer truck, inferior drinks and dealing with management with a bad attitude then this is the place for your next event. I've never eaten such expensive broccoli before and it wasn't even organic. read more
