I wanted to give the Sunset Grill in Moab five stars. Service is five star. The host, our server, and all the staff were incredible, attentive, informative, and excellent at their jobs. Location is five stars.The Sunset Grill is located in the Charlie Steen house. There are great views of the Moab valley, the mesas, and mountains. These views only get better at sunset. They have indoor and outdoor seating and ninety five percent of tables have a great view. Some times the outdoor seating is closed due to weather, so be mindful of that. The staff will let you walk around and explore the house and various outdoor locations that have lights, decorations, and nice views. The vibe is casual 1970's steakhouse inside. There are a lot of photos and memorabilia, the music was a solid mix of rat pack and modern tunes that matched the steak house theme. The drinks are five stars. We had the U-92, a nuclear green cocktail/martini that was like a balanced cross between a Midori sour and Tom Collins, sour, fruity, sweet and strong. We also had some classic drinks, a moscow mule, and mojito, margarita, all were solid and balanced with strong pours. The only thing we had to take stars off for was the food. The food was three and a half stars. Everything our server recommend was very good. She recommended the artichoke baguette, and prime rib. The artichoke baguette was very good but not exceptional. The prime rib was exceptional. We had it prepared the rustler style and medium. It was cooked to perfection and the sauces, baked potato, and vegetables prepared excellently as well. The french onion soup gratinee was very good, good flavor, broth, bread, and cheese. The bread is made in house fresh and good. Now, if you like 1960-1970 style steak house style food and sides, then the food may be five stars for you. However, the salads were fine, nothing special, good greens, big pieces of fresh tomato, onion, cucumber, carrots, and dressings were basic. The linguini Olivia was fine, nothing special, shrimp was a bit over cooked, pasta was a bit over cooked, crab had a little chewy cartilage left in it. Everything edible and decent just not excellent. The prices are a little high but worth it for the staff and location. This place is a must visit just for the location, staff, and drinks alone. We had an evening here. It was far from ideal. It took over a 1/2 hr to get our waitress to stop at our table another 1/2 hour to get our initial drinks. About another 15-20 mins to get an order in. We sat down at 6:20 and paid our bill finally at about 9. We did have a party of 16 so it was a big party but we had called several days in advance and they advertise they do no need reservations. It was keep weekend but there were several empty tables on the patio. Now if the service was slow, but the food was amazing, I would live with that. But the food was ok, nothing to write home about and expensive!! Basic spaghetti almost $30. My daughter said Olive Garden was better. One of the members of our party attempted to tell the manager who said it was because of jeep week. Again if it was simply slow service I wouldn't have minded but our orders were so messed up also. One of the guys ordered the special, it came without the sauce and by the time he got it his meal was cold, my son ordered a shrimp cocktail which we had to remind the waitress about once it arrived the shrimp were frozen. Another member had items missing It was by far a great experience I did take them up on their offer and I emailed them with the events of the evening in more detail and crickets. We had reservations for a party of eight, but still waited about 30 minutes to be seated. Once we finally got to our table, service remained slow--it took another 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order, and about 15 more minutes for the drinks to arrive. After that, our server took our food order, but about 20 minutes later returned to inform us they were out of prime rib--after several people in our group had already ordered it. This forced half of our party to scramble and choose different entrees, which was frustrating. I ended up ordering the New York steak. Given the high prices, I expected something much better, but it was underwhelming and tasted comparable to a budget steakhouse. The vegetable of the day, asparagus, was overcooked and rubbery. Overall, the experience didn't justify the cost. Between the long waits, lack of availability on menu items, and mediocre food, I would not recommend dining here. read more

We recently celebrated my daughter's 8th Birthday in Moab and thought this would be a great spot for dinner, but I couldn't have been more disappointed. It took more than 20 minutes to be greeted by the waiter, and that was only after I complained to the hostess. Once we were greeted the slow service continued through the entire meal, so my wife asked to speak with the manager on our way out just to share our experience and she was a complete nightmare. This establishment should be ashamed to have her representing such a lovely place! She actually has the audacity to walk away from my wife after stating "some people just like to complain." If this is how you treat a customer that is just sharing an area of opportunity...then we'll just pass the next time we're in town, and suggest others to do the same! read more

oh man, this is the best food that has ever been in my mouth, seriously guys im talkin about FLAVOR, if i was the presedent of the united states of america i would make it illegal to not eat here at least once. i brought home the rest of my GIANT meal, i was so excited to start back up on that bad boy, but then my dog ate it off the table before i had a chance, i dont have that dog anymore. his name was Luke. For me, its a good thing i live 3 hours away, because if i lived close, i would eat there so much i might put on too much weight. The best of all dining in our 2 week vacation. Beside the beautiful view the food was fantastic. We ate here twice and it was great both times. They have a shuttle so the second night we used that and it was a nice service to use, free too, but the small tip was really appreciated. If you go, sit on the patio, arrive early to avoid the long wait for it. Try the Prime rib or Salmon, we had that one night and the filet and pecan chicken the other night, all the meals were really just perfect. Salad and fresh bread come with each meal. read more

Been coming here for years. This is the best dining experience you can have in Moab. My prime rib was perfect , medium rare , tender and tasty. I love a good wine list and the Sunset Grill menu keeps updated with many local wines , Castle Creek Winery, and a good selection of Napa Valley. My friends are big whisky fans and there's no problem getting my buddies their favorite. Been coming for over ten years and always had great service . Just ate here this evening. The free shuttle was a real bonus, and David, the driver and an owner of the restaurant, was fabulous. The evening began with him and his good humor and friendly manner. The view from the restaurant was lovely, and we had a very nice sunset. Eric, our waiter, couldn't have been nicer. The food was perfectly prepared. We had the tuna and the trout. The Sunset Grill is the best place in Moab to have dinner. Not over the top. Just amazing! Its my favorite place to take my wife or the whole family. David is Incredible. In Moab I can have a mediocre meal for $5-10 less at any restaurant. Or I can have a Good Meal every time in a great atmosphere. One if the worst Food we have ever had. You cannot flavor the food as it had too much salt for the steak and vegetables. Their honey pecan chicken is served with brown sugar and not honey you cannot flavor anything but sugar. Horrible service! You literally forget the beautiful view of the place because of the awfulness of the food. read more

Beautiful view at sunset as well as into the evening hours under the stars and above the city. The shuttle was a huge plus so we didn't have to drive our RV into town. The food is not very good. The service is pretty bad. My daughter ordered pasta and hated it. We told the waiter. He took the entire plate away, but charged me for the meal. He never offered to give her anything else. My food was edible, but not great. I don't recommend this place. You can get a great view someplace else! read more

If you visit Moab, don't miss this place! Our food and very friendly service was great but the view and peaceful setting at sunset was astounding! The story of the Uranium King was interesting and inside we got to see some of the uranium and some amazing dinosaur bones! Good wine list also. Highly recommend this place!! read more

Really Great services. The pasta was amazing. It is called Linguine Olivia. Once of the best pasta I ever had at a restaurant that was not Italian. Also the services was great. The Chocolate Mousse Pie is really rich and yummy. The view from looking down from Moab is the best view you will get. read more

This is a great place with the bread being extraordinary and the waiter that I had was clam and helped me decide what to do in moab. The View was also once in a lifetime sight. Wendell was great. Because he messed up on our steak he gave a discount on the steak and a free desert. read more
