Stopped in our our way through. Spacious, one level, diner style restaurant with plenty of tables and booths. Location is accessible but there are 2 doors to go through to get in if you enter from the street. You can also park in the back and enter. Bathrooms are gender-specific, but one at a time. The ladies room was tiny. I don't think a wheelchair would fit comfortably in there. I loved that the booths have artwork separating them - clever and beautiful idea! It was a Monday morning, not very busy. Hubby grabbed a booth while I used the ladies room. We still did not have drinks by the time I got to the table, and it was a few more minutes before coffee and tea arrived. Our server Angel (according to the receipt) just moved slow. She is also not particular about germs. She served my coffee with the bowl of creamers on top. That bowl of creamers travels from table to table and you put it where I have to put my mouth to drink? It's just not sanitary! Napkins are on the table with the wine & beer list so I was able to wipe off my cup and hope the heat would kill any germs. Another nice thing is that they use different mugs for tea and coffee! When places use one mug for either tea or coffee, the tea usually tastes a little like coffee. Business did pick up and we did not see Angel again until our food came up. We saw our food come up and sit under the lights for about 5 minutes. Then I watched as she grabbed some jelly packets and put them on top of our food. More germs from her hands and the jelly, great, thank you so much! The other servers appeared to have some hustle, but not our girl. Slow and steady. I had to ask for more coffee. She strolled by and asked about our food but didn't really expect an answer as she didn't even stop. Our food was good. Hubby had 3 eggs over easy, sausage and toast - great. I had the Greek omelette, no tomato, and it had lots of spinach, also great. We finished and she never came by with more coffee or the check so I went over to the cashier to wait for her. Initial service was prompt, food came out quickly. Just a word to the wise..the Greek salad has Kalamata olives in it and they WEREN'T pitted. Bit into one and found out quickly! We came here on a Wednesday in the early afternoon and they were pretty busy; the place was filled with seniors. Our party ordered burgers, a Philly steak sandwich, a greek chicken pita wrap, and a turkey bacon sandwich. We sat down and were served our food in about 10-15 minutes. Our waiter was also really nice and attentive the whole time we were there. Everyone enjoyed our food here and the prices were reasonable. The only minor thing is are the little details; my partner ordered medium but the burger was more well done; I had a sourdough sandwich with turkey and bacon, but the bread and turkey were a bit dry. I just ate there and received terrible service. My food was lukewarm. I ordered eggs Benedict. I received my food and she dropped it right off. I was gonna ask her for a glass of water, but she was in a hurry to leave the table and I had to basically be loud to ask her for a glass of water, cause she was very much in a hurry. I completely understand it's busy but to check on me for just a second would've been nice to see if I needed anything. I waited very patiently use manners and let her know that I appreciated her and nothing in return she's not polite. I told the man at the register pointed out the waitress because I didn't even know her name and I hope she does get talk to you because that's disgusting and the service is terrible and I won't be coming here again. On our way to Letchworth and needed a bit to eat. Very cute ambience with nice paintings on all the booths, recessed ceilings, and cute light fixtures. Very friendly staff, service wasn't speedy but wasn't slow either. Service and atmosphere two steps above comfortable, food priced reasonably and prepared within reasonable expectations. I was on a mission in Dansville, camera in hand, when I realized I had left early in the morning without eating breakfast. My coffee and honey cruller from Timmy's was fine a little after 6, but by 10, I had that empty feeling. I had been seeing lots of locals going in here so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered one blueberry pancake and my waitress lit up and smiled broadly as she said, "Those are the best!" She brought it out a little while later, I had time to check my email and make sure the world back home hadn't come to an end. I enjoyed my coffee in a mug covered with advertising squares that resembled a miniature, minor league, outfield wall. My pancake was thick and large enough to almost cover the plate. The blueberries, and there were plenty of them, had settled into the surface like salt crystals sinking into a cake of ice. I buttered it up and added syrup. (Syrup here is served in a bottle and not those annoying, portion-controlled, pre-packed squares that are never enough to last an entire breakfast.) I was concerned that a pancake that thick might look good on the outside but be soft and doughy on the inside. It wasn't! It was soft and chewy, just the way I like 'em. The wait staff was friendly and made me feel welcome. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and set for 2020 social distancing. So this was the 2nd time visiting the Sunrise. The 1st was on mother's day and I was served cold hash browns which aren't even homemade, but the frozen patties and my mother was served spoiled ham. So we decided to give it another try not being a special occasion. This time was not better but worse. We waited 45 mins for our food only for the homefries this time cold and eggs overcooked and omelets dry. When we were finally able to get our waitress attention she brought out steaming hot homefries yay less than a minute of us complaining. Then to make matters worse I found a short black curly hair on my plate. Once again we tried to get our waitress attention and she completely ignored us. I grabbed another waitress who was kind enough to take my plate to show to the owner. They did take it off the bill but to make matters worse when we finally got our bill and I went to pay the owner who was running the register didn't even apologize or acknowledge the poor service and food, just took my card and expected me to sign the receipt and leave. Needless to say we will never be back and will travel elsewhere for a decent breakfast where customers feel appreciated. So they have now lost not only 2 locals who live in the area but 4 other potential customers who visit the area often. read more

We stumbled upon Sunrise Family Restaurant after a night slumbering in Stony Brook State Park. And let me tell you, after a night in the woods, replenishing the tummy with breakfast at this place was INCREDIBLE! To be specific, the pancakes (according to our waitress, made with sweet cream!) were fluffy and ACTUALLY tasted like cake. Usually when we eat pancakes, they're more like griddled medals of butter. Very surprised how much I liked this place!! It's in a little town in upstate NY. It's very quaint and super family little restaurant. They have the old computer systems, the singular TV, and that good old country folk food. I opted for the Greek salad with grilled chicken. The salad was actually really big! I love how they default put the dressing on the side for all their salads. The grilled chicken was actually better than some grilled chicken I've ordered in much nicer looking venues. The chicken wasn't greasy and it just tasted really good! The salad was big and hearty, however it was mostly just lettuce, so that was a letdown. There were very few olives and not much cheese. It should have just been named a fresh greens salad. I also liked how it came with some fresh pita bread as well. And the pita bread wasn't hard! It was nice and soft! The other members in my party ordered a veggie omelet and hash. The hash was alright. Again, I really liked how it wasn't greasy! I also liked how the portion was huge as well! And they gave you toast with it. The veggie omelet was my favourite! This was probably one of the best Omelets I've gotten!! It wasn't greasy as all and it had the perfect amount of cheese and the eggs were perfect. My only complaint would be I wish it had more veggies. We asked for no mushrooms and black olives, but I still wish they could have added more of the other veggies to substitute. I also liked how that came with toast as well. It was better than Omelets I've gotten at IHOP and Silver Diner. My only big con about this restaurant was the fact that the server didn't tell us about any up charges. I don't like it when people don't inform you about that so we all thought the hash browns were included in the meal but it costed extra. Granted, it wasn't that much, but still, it's more of a courtesy thing. Anyway, if you're in town, definitely come here! Prices are just right and the food is actually really good!!! read more

When you hear 'Farmer's Market Omelette', you think veggies, right? Or am I nuts? All this omelette had was burned meat and some peppers and onions. However, it still tasted good. I just think $8.50 was a little steep. My son LOVED his ham, eggs, and toast. Being told ham was an extra $1.60 would have been nice. My daughter's pancake was nice and fluffy. The omelet was ok--I was taken aback to see a razor thin slice of processed cheese and a few canned mushroom slices atop the very thin, non-fluffy omelet. I was home for Christmas visiting family and so was a dear friend of mine, both in our home towns. So we decided to meet half way and it was Dansville, we chose Sunrise. It was great! It was quiet, they accommodated our large party (including babies), waitress was friendly and topped off our coffee numerous times, fast delivery of food, and the food was good. Disappointing. I've lived in the area for years and decided to try breakfast at this place. Will NOT be going back. Very dated and worn out inside. Old desert rack near checkout. Just plain old. The waitress named.....????.....she never told us her name, never said hello. Just asked for a drink order. Never smiled once. Very cold and uncaring. The food portions were reasonable, but the quality was low. "Home fries" were undercooked potato chunks. Pancakes were super thick and doughy. French toast had no flavor at all. Omelet was okay, but had cheap american cheese slices on top instead of real cheese inside. Save your money and go to the breakfast buffet at the truckstop in town. Much better food and reasonably priced. Also check out Cartwright's Maple Tree Inn when they are open. Awesome food and service! read more

food was horrible. my boyfriend and i went there for breakfast one morning, and we were not impressed, nor satisfied. the wait staff was nice, but the food was not. i ordered cornbeef hash and it was straight out of a can and heated up!!! my boyfriend orded some type of omlet, it had sliced processed cheese inside and out, and was a frozen omlet, NOT fresh. it wasnt even shredded cheese. we asked the waitress what was the popular thing there, since we are from CA, and never ate there, and she told us the blueberry pancakes. the blueberry pancakes were GROSS. not even fresh blueberries, more like just a blueberry pancake store bought batter!! we will never return here if we visit NY again. read more
