I stopped by this restaurant at the end of a long road trip from NYC to Buffalo, and it is indeed in the middle of nowhere haha. At first, I was scared by the outdated decorbut the bartender and waitress were very very nice and accommodating typical western New York vibes. Clientelle was typical blue collar older/middle aged men sitting at the bar drinking beers/ watching the game and the news etc. We sat at a small table in the bar area and were fine. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad 5/5 VERY fresh, chicken was good n juicy dressing was nice and light My mother ordered the SkirtSteak and sweet potato fries 4/5 SO GOOD and a large 10oz steak, only note- cook needs to trim the fat off of the steaks spent the next 25 min after eating here picking our teeth for the fat that was STUCK in our teeth lololol If your expectation is for a small town/ LOCAL bar atmosphere with typical bar food then you will be fine here. We finished our plates and left satisfied, plus total for the bill was like $36 ?? Can't beat those prices lol read more

What can I say? It's just bad food. I was staying at the Inn next door and called for a take away. I waited about 45 minutes. By the time I finally got my food...the "River's Classic Bruschetta" was totally burnt. "The Babs", a pasta dish, was horrible! Plain noodles drenched in grease, a sprinkle of parmigiano reggiano, with artichoke hearts that had sharp inedible pieces. The "Artichoke French" had artichoke hearts without the sharp bits...but, it just tastes and looks gross (smothered in a sour rancid tasting brown goo - not a cream sauce you'd expect). They did refund $18 out of the $27...but, they should have refunded the whole thing. There are some other places in town that have better food. Like Tuso's Pizza/Pasta/Sandwich place in the back of the gas station. No joke. WAY better, extremely fresh, and much cheaper. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

After a long drive we wanted something close to have dinner. I'm pretty sure there is no relationship between the hotel and restaurant...but the front desk did recommend. So the food and prices are reasonable. Food is common and they offer a decent variety. I had the soup du jour (new England clam chowder) salad, and the river strip steak. My colleague had the pecan salmon, salad. Entress served with choice of potato and season veg. Food was very good. Have I had better...yes. Have I had worse...yes. So not anything special, but well worth the price. Mine with a beer and tip..$25. My colleague 's was $23 with a glass of the house merlot. So why only 3 stars...I worry about a place that has no one in it. We were it, minus the employees. The decorum is way outdated. In what looked like an old eating area was a pool table. only gave this place three starts because it is located conveniently next to the hotel we stayed at. when we asked the front desk worker where to go he raved about questa lasagna but it was sadly closed. he then half heartedly recommended this place with a "at least its right next door". we knew what we were getting into although we didn't think it would be that bad. we were seated in a weird lunch area next to an empty buffet. i ordered a caesar salad which was decent but my pasta with sauce was disgusting. even my partner who eats everything couldn't stomach it. there was no drink menu or music which was off-putting and the service was poor. only upside was the whole meal consisting of 4 entrees was $36 and it was a minute walk to the hotel where we could slip away in shame from the experience we just had. play it safe, get the burger. read more

TERRIBLE! Do. NOT. Eat. Here. To start, they've got a low-class decor. The place is down-right ugly. We picked the salad bar option, which was a mistake: they didn't even have necessities like croutons or cheese. I got the scallops dinner, which was actually good, but way too small. It would be the perfect size if you're 10 years old. My girlfriend got the chicken french, which was bland. BUT EVEN WORSE WAS THE DIARRHEA THAT CAME AFTER! This was supposed to be our romantic weekend getaway after some stressful times, and it COMPLETELY ruined the night. My girlfriend spent a couple rounds in the bathroom after her meal, and needless to say, it changed our night-time plans. Even though we had a $30 voucher from the hotel next door, knocking the final price down to $10, this obviously doesn't make up for ruining the vacation. Do not eat here under ANY circumstances. If your expectation is for a local bar atmosphere with bar food then you will be fine here. This is not fine dining by any means, however if you are looking for a local place to grab a beer and a burger/wings then this place will do fine. Atmosphere: Think trailer park. Old worn out thin carpeting. Blue tarp on the roof (I travel on business and come through town often- its been there for over a year) Food: Overpriced for the restaurant it is. Small portions. OK if you want to grab a drink and a burger in a seedy bar with the locals but if you want a dining experience go elsewhere. Its touted as a reception center so they probably are better at serving quantity vs quality. Other good options in town are Quest Lasagna, Brians Diner or drive about 8 miles north to the Yard of Ale. The hotel staff next door to this place pushes you to go there (I think they own it- the siding on both buildings look the same) so beware. Just ask for other options if you are not familiar with the area and they will give you directions to the other restaurants. read more

We were there for Easter brunch. A buffet and were asked to leave because they wanted our table. We were told we had 5 minutes. There were at least 15 tables set up and empty. Our bill had been paid and the hostess buzzed our table at least 3 times. She glared from a distance as well. WTH? The waitress apologized but the hostess was just rude. I came here with my boyfriend about a week ago for dinner and was really surprised how good and inexpensive the food was. We got the Fried Calamari as an appetizer, I got the Chicken Parm (delicious!) and my boyfriend got the NY Strip Steak. The portions were enormous and we both ended up having to get take out boxes plus the drinks were really cheap, $2.50 a pint! We actually ended up coming the following night for some wing special they had, amazing! It's definitely an older restaurant but the price was right and the food hit the spot. If you happen to come across this small charming little town, you should definitely stop here. Not only is it like 5 mins. away from one of the best State Parks in the U.S. but they had some great food too!! We went to a wedding here. The owner was so rude to the guests. She stomped around the place barking orders and it really affected the ambiance. Funny enough her son was a bartender and he was very nice. The food was ok. The prime rib was inconsistently cooked for example at our one table the meat ranged from medium well to bloody rare. The lasagna and chicken dishes arrived Luke warm. Other staff was rude as well while passing out appetizers. I would not recommend this venue for a wedding. read more

My family attended the Easter Brunch. Service was ok as soon as the server got there. It did take 10 minutes or so to get them there. Food and Buffet was terrific, and moved along fast. Only downside was the 18% added to the bill for a group over 5. Server was at our table a total of maybe three minutes combined. 18% for a buffet is way too high. 5, 10 or 20 people doesn't matter with a buffet. read more
