Winter Melon Tea
Amber M.

Love this place we newly discovered! The street parking out front is a little bit limited. There are many options and they are all super affordable starting around $6. I love the winter melon tea with honey boba and mini boba. Great for everyone; groups, dates, kids/families.

First time ordering from here. Walked but wasn't greeted. I preordered my drinks so they were ready for pickup but I wasn't acknowledged. Ambiance is quiet and calm. I really wasn't feeling the vibe. Got my drinks and left. The watermelon cooler was decent but not to my expectations. I was expecting more watermelon flavor. The jasmine tea was good though. Not sure if I'll yo back.

I have come here a few times and I have to say they have the BEST cheese foam. Roasted oolong is very strong and robust. I enjoy the fruit teas the most. Pretty straight forward service. You can park curb side or there's a structure you can park behind the store.

I stopped by Sunright Studio and tried the mango drink, and it tasted just like I hoped it would. The flavor was really good and refreshing. The service was excellent too--there was no delay or confusion at all. I used the automatic ordering system, placed my order quickly, and had my drink within just a few minutes. Overall, a really smooth and enjoyable experience. :)

I feel like their drinks are kind of subpar as the tea flavor isn't very present in the Ceylon milk tea or their fruit tea. The best drinks I would get are the frosties, which can be made with 25% sweetness and still be very sweet. I got the mango frostie, and it was refreshing! Nice clean spot and they make your drink quickly.

Parking is in the back and we didn't have any trouble finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon. There is no seating inside and two kiosks to order from. They had free samples of their peach oolong milk tea which was good but sweet even with 75% sugar. We ordered 3 drinks and only had to wait like 10 min. Comes in a plastic bag. Drinks were decent but nothing to scream about.

Needed a quick refresher so we stopped in to pick up a Jasmine tea no ice no sweetener and a matcha. Ordered through thy kiosk so very lil interaction and service was just okay. Drinks were not worth the $12+. We parked behind the store in their parking structure.

My go to spot for a special drink treat! This locations is fairly small and doesn't have any seating besides a small bar by the front entrance. You can use the self checkout screens to place your order. Drinks tend to come out fairly quickly just depending on how busy it gets. I have come here so many times that I've joined their rewards and I always get the same drink- the strawberry frostie with cheese foam. This combination is so tasty and it reminds me of fresas con crema. Couldn't reccomend this drink enough and honestly many of the other ones they have too!

Many drinks.

Sunright is always solid for milk tea and fruit teas. There's touch screen ordering, ample parking, and the service is generally quick, even for large orders. Unfortunately the interior is very basic, no seating or anything, so consider this for to-go only. At least it's large enough inside so you don't feel too crowded.

DRINKS: Grapefruit Jasmine Tea 5/5 (Suits my taste/appeal to me) Cream Pudding Milk Tea 4.5/5 Cosmic Apple Fragrant Oolong 4.5/5 Lucky Peach Lychee is decent, but kinda like CAFO better. Mpk's Lucky Peach Lychee (Anniversary Exclusive) 4.25/5 Got it at 75% sugar. It was a fragrant tea. Taste is not bad.

Too watered down and not enough tea flavor. The fruit teas also just taste like syrup water. This is like any other average boba tea place

Ask the Community - Sunright Tea Studio - Monterey Park

Is the boba vegan?

Our Brown Sugar Boba is vegan, our Honey Boba is not (due to the honey).

Are the milk teas vegan if we substitute with oat milk? Thank you!

If you substitute a normal milk tea then yes! Please be mindful of any toppings added as many of them have added dairy.

Is the BOGO offer for any drinks?

The Bogo offer is only on Sunright Boba Milk Tea and Sunright Fruit Tea. These two drinks are 50% off until 9 pm today. 😊

Is it possible to buy a sunright Tshirt? I really want one :)

We do not sell them unfortunately but all of our team members receive one and we are hiring!

Do you have non-dairy options?

Yes, we have almond milk and oat milk available.

Can you adjust drinks? For example, can we switch matcha oolong milk tea for jasmine tea instead?

Yes, you can customize any of our drinks within reason! There is a box for "Special Instructions" in both online ordering and the self-order kiosk where you can type whatever you'd like and the team will adjust your drink accordingly.

Does the self order kiosk also accept debit cards as well or only credit cards?

Hi Austin, our self order kiosks support both credit and debit cards! Daniel

You can ask them to try toppings. With the pandemic I don't think customers can pay by cash. So far all my orders were online. No promotion

I've already experienced Colombian and Ethiopian coffee, so I was curious to see how Panama coffee would compare. The flight comes with an Americano, a milk beverage, and Ember, a coffee inspired cocktail. You try them in that order, and each one brings something different to the table. The Americano was the strongest, but I wasn't a fan of the coffee bean itself. The milk beverage, on the other hand, was SO good! The milk and coffee balanced each other beautifully, giving it a smooth flavour that was neither too sweet nor too bitter. Last was Ember, made with espresso, ginger, and dark chocolate. I was nervous about this one, but everything blended surprisingly well! I couldn't really taste the espresso, the ginger wasn't overpowering, and the drink was incredibly refreshing. I'm torn between the milk beverage and the cocktail because they're both great for different reasons, depending on your mood. I also tried the egg and tomato croissant, which I'd give a 5/10. The flavours just didn't work together for me. On a previous visit, I tried the pumpkin spice foam hojicha. It was my first time trying hojicha, and honestly, it tasted like green tea with milk that had been steeping a little too long I definitely prefer matcha, but at least now I know! Overall, the Panama flight was a fun way to try something new, and I'd recommend it if you enjoy exploring different coffee experiences.

The Americano was also really good, not so sour like most and if all americanos were like that I'd drink Americano much more. Latte was just a latte unfortunately. The donut was slightly of putting because of savory taste of the donut but really tart grapefruit filling

Matcha flavor comes through, although there is more strawberry than matcha flavor. Still I enjoyed it. It was super creamy too, but I know some people may not like that. Matchas are made with Dona Matcha. MATCHA KINU This was similar to the Ichigo Matcha in texture. Heavy cold foam on top and lightly sweetened. Maybe because it was my second matcha cold foam drink, I was full and tired of drinking it. Matcha was good, but very creamy as expected. Matcha was quite mellow with very sweet matcha flavor, grassiness and very light bitterness. Still very mellow overall. Personally, I prefer the Ichigo Matcha over this one. AMBIANCE + SEATS Most of the seats were white boucle chairs and sofa. Metal tables. Seats were comfy, but dirty. One wooden table with wooden chairs for cleaner seats. There were a good amount of tables and seats. One unisex bathroom available. LOCATION + PARKING On Garfield + Main. It is along the street, so you will need to turn into a parking garage or street park. The best parking spot I found was on First + Main. Right across Days Inn by Wyndham and The Chicken Koop. Free parking. There were EV charging stations too. There is parking right behind Three Fields, but it is so tiny, I wouldn't recommend parking there. Plus, it would be difficult to get in and get out. It was so crammed in there. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was friendly, but the barista seemed a bit impatient as I was deciding on what to get as he tapped his fingers on the table. Then he tells me, "No, take your time." Sure, man. Would I come back? Of course when I'm in the area and when I'm craving for the Ichigo Matcha. It was delish!

The vibe feels timeless. The paint-speckled brick walls and polished tiled floors starkly contrast the heirloom porcelain and framed Indonesian memorabilia. Small square tables and metal chairs are crammed into the narrow space. Close to opening, seats are plentiful, and serene pop blends with the espresso machine; later in the morning, the air is filled with chatter, and the queue stretches to the door. Of the drinks, our go-to has been The Putu, a pandan-forward latte that isn't too sweet. But don't sleep on the Indonesian pastries. I particularly enjoyed the Dadar Gulung, a vibrant green pandan crepe filled with sweet coconut. The scarlet, tortoise-shaped Angku Kueh is stuffed with an addictive mung bean filling. The Talan Ubi sweet potato-and-coconut treats tasted like fall. The Kueh Lupis, a sticky rice triangle with a side of palm sugar syrup, sports a spot-on Q texture, but is one-dimensional in flavor. Service is friendly and efficient. Pastries cost about ~$3-5, while specialty beverages run in the $7-8 range. The location is stellar (just steps away from the Alhambra Farmers Market), and the coffeehouse fare is uniquely crave-worthy. In all, Uncle Fung is a key member of Alhambra's specialty coffee scene, and it cracks my regular rotation.

You see a fun selection of Indonesian / Malaysian desserts as you get to the counter, and their drink options are unique and plentiful. We tried two of their artisanal kopi, Kopi Susu and The Putu and tried the Putu Ayu dessert. The drinks were absolutely incredible! The flavour combination and sweetness level of The Putu was perfect. I love that the bold delicious espresso came through, it wasn't overpowered by the sugar, pandan flavour or coconut cream. The drink wasn't too heavy or creamy, it was just so well balanced it left me wanting more! The Putu Ayu however was just alright. The cake flavours were fine, but it was just a bit dry for my taste. It's a long, narrow shop so seating may be limited if you have a larger party, but the ambience was very pleasant and nice. Menu is stacked with the names of different types of teas but offers zero description on any of them, so you have no choice but to ask the barista to describe the flavor profile of the teas you're interested in. The barista seemed a bit tired of explaining the tea flavors on the menu, and I honestly don't blame them at all. I'd be annoyed if I had to recite and explain the same large menu over and over again to countless customers throughout the day, when it could've just been written on the menu. If mgmt is reading this - you should fix the menu to make it easier for workers (and customers). This could also help move your line faster, which I've often heard complaints about. I ordered the Koan-Im milk tea, unsweetened, without toppings. I usually like my teas and coffees dark and less sweet, no toppings - especially when I'm trying a new tea shop so I can taste the quality of the tea first, and see whether they get their milk to tea ratios right. The Koan-Im oolong was described to me as a dark roasted oolong so it sounded like it would fit my preference. Unfortunately I barely tasted any tea in it at all, and the drink was mostly just milk. I'm not even sure it was fully milk, since I tasted hints of non-dairy creamer (I should've asked the barista about this before ordering but I didn't want torment her any further after she just rapped an entire menu to me, so I made a hasty choice here). Unfortunately I had to bring the drink home and add more tea to fix the milky flavor. My honest thoughts - I should've ordered a plain tea drink rather than milk tea, so I could at least taste the quality of the tea. I don't think this place makes milk teas that I would like. They're likely one of those tea shops that are popular for their sugary milk tea drinks that lean heavier on the milk and toppings instead. I'm sure their tapioca mochi is lovely, as is their popular "popcorn milk tea" but if you're a person who prefers darker tea drinks with less of the fuss and frills like I do, this place isn't for you.
