    Tri Tip and Eggs!

Sunny Hyde Up has great food and our waitress was really sweet and helpful! The music is great and upbeat and provides a modern touch. I really enjoy the tri tip and eggs and we always get the churro French toast to share. Thank you for being here from the J&R Meat Crew!

Amazing service. Sat at the bar for Easter. Max was an awesome mixologist creating amazing drinks that were off menu. Sat next to the owners parents who were super nice and even let me try their Chicharrónes and guacamole which was very tasty. If you love spice get the huevos rancheros. Definitely will be back. This place is such an amazing vibe. Loved the cocktail that max created for me it had carrot juice and gin in it---was the best cocktail I've ever tasted!!!

This place is very nice I am from Las Vegas so it definitely gives that vibe of a fun brunch, we came yesterday December 20th, 2025 and had reservations for 11:15am we arrived at 11:04am and checked in with the host the place was packed so we waited outside when some space inside finally opened up we took a seat we seen allot of guest walk in and didn't have reservations and were told a wait time many walked out, the hosts seemed a little overwhelmed and lost when it came to seating the guests we didn't get seated until closed to 11:30, they sat us next a door that was operable that guests could walk in and out of, imagine eating an people are are just walking in and out of a side door next to your table. We sat at the table for about 10 mins before a server came to us, I believe her name was Victoria she took our order and asked if we were ready to order food but we were not another few mins passes and received our drinks we ordered the Christmas tree of mimosas and it was $45 and they were good. She came back again and took our order, upon watching the dining room I could see they were very busy sections seemed a little large for the severs considering allot of them were not checking in on their tables. Everyone else got their food before me I ordered the chicken and waffles and received mine last significantly so past that everyone at the table was halfway through their food I had two different food runners tell me sorry yours should be coming soon, I have no problem waiting for something if you tell me that the item I'm ordering has a little more of a drag time but nobody did. The server never came around again until it was time to pay, we sat for awhile before she came by and we had to ask for the check and that took a while to bring as well, a manger or owner was walking around talking to some but not all tables and let's just say mine definitely wasn't one that was touched. The check was finally dropped and again we waited for her to pick it up, then another girl came and dropped the check off, as we were signing the check the server finally came back over and said thanks for coming by then it was too late you were barley talking with us engaging with us it was a very transactional experience. As someone who has managed many restaurants on the strip maybe my expectations were too high but interacting with your table isn't too much to ask for. Seems like they need smaller sections and updating resy on their turn times for reservations so it's not so overwhelming , the food is good and that's why this place is packed but the service is not good and with me the food can be outstanding but if the service is not then that creates a bad experience for me.

The food was amazing we had a large group and had a variety of things and everyone loved it! I read the reviews before we went to so I was expecting a long wait even with a reservation and slow service but we got sat right away and Liz our server was amazing and funny, definitely will be back.

Opened in summer of 2025, Sunny Hyde Up is a great brunch/lunch spot. It's been open for a few months and it's still a little rough on operations. The interior is pretty nice and appealing for a local brunch. It has a pretty large dining room with quite a bit of space. We went in on a Friday morning and service was a little slow but there weren't many servers working at the time. Our server was very lovely. There was a bit of delay with service but it wasn't too long. The food was very delicious. The French toast was so delicious. The filling was rich and could have been great with a little less. The churros were crunchy and perfectly dusted is cinnamon sugar. The chilaquiles were cooked very nicely and the beef machaca had such a flavorful broth that was paired nicely with the pickled onions. Picked onions by the way were nicely crunchy rather than soggy old onions that other places may use. The portions are BIG, both my friend and I weren't able to finish our food!

First I'll start by saying this place definitely gives you a Los Angeles feel here in Visalia. The restaurant is beautiful. Perfect for parties or special occasions. We came today for a causal breakfast. The Chilaquiles were 6/10. The Machaca was seasoned perfectly. The meat was amazing. My issue was the store bought salsa that was so running if you don't eat this fast you'll have soggy chips at the bottom. It ended up being more of a soggy soup. The chicken and waffles 9/10. We ordered them spicy and the macha salsa was perfect! The portion for the price was great too. Service was great. Seated fairly quickly, food came out quick also. I'll be back but we have better breakfast spots of food is the goal. If you're looking for a vibe and tipzy brunch this is the best spot in Visalia

My wife and I came here for a brunch date, and Sunny Hyde Up impressed us from the start. The restaurant feels clean, modern, and trendy, with a great vibe. The bar area is beautiful, and the place was packed with people clearly enjoying themselves. Despite being busy, the staff stayed on top of everything. We had a reservation, arrived a little early, and were seated right away. We started with coffees, which were surprisingly good for brewed restaurant coffee. For food, I ordered the chilaquiles and my wife had the salmon bagel with egg. We also split a pancake as an "appetizer." The chilaquiles were excellent -- warm, cheesy chips stacked with flavor and topped with a perfectly cooked egg. My wife's dish came with potatoes that were outstanding on their own. The salmon bagel was also solid. And that pancake? Light, fluffy, and full of flavor -- gone in minutes. Our ratings: * Ambience: 10/10 * Food: 10/10 * Service: 9/10 This is one of those restaurants where you can tell everything on the menu is going to be good. They put creative spins on both Mexican and American classics, and it works. Highly recommend for brunch, and I'm looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu.

After looking at reviews on Yelp, my wife wanted to come here for her birthday with our adult kids. It is an hour a way, but so worth the drive. Glad we made reservations. Started with drinks. The Banana Bread Old Fashioned's were excellent! Also had the Carajillo which was equally impressive. Usually split breakfasts, not today. I got the spicy chicken and waffles and my wife got the Lobster Benedict. Both were great but not really finding lobster in the Benedict. Son had the chilaquiles and my daughter had breakfast tacos. Server brought a birthday cheesecake slice out. The place is modern and laid out well. We will have to come back!

Christmas Eve day my friend and I decided to try the new brunch place in town. I made reservations the day before on resy. We entered and were greeted right away with a short wait. We were seated in the large room on the west side of the building. A server came by and took our drink order. I ordered a $4.50 decaf coffee. Shortly after, she took our food order. I ordered a breakfast burrito for $18. My friend ordered some a la carte items. Then we waited. Others were seated around us. Waited some more. The restaurant was busy, but had empty tables so not slammed. About 45 minutes in, a couple near us who were seated AFTER us, got their food. I finished my coffee. Our server never told us what the wait was for or why and I couldn't find her so I flagged down another server. I explained people seated after us had their food. He went to find out. Still we waited with no explanation. About 55 minutes after arriving, we received our food. Our original server checked on us a couple of times after that. She did not ask if I wanted a refill or another coffee. I would have liked to have the coffee WITH my food but pay another $4.50? No. The food was okay, but nothing special for the cost. When the bill came, the tip guide on it suggested a 30% tip as a minimum. I felt that was a reach. Not impressed with food, value or service.

Food was good. Our server was very friendly. I got the patty melt, which was very messy. They didn't have ranch or aioli for the fries and as an avid dipper that was a let down. They brought out a Serrano sauce, but it was a bit too spicy for my taste. However, the wait time for drinks and food was quite long. It took about an hour to receive all parts of our meal, which was just 3 entrees and a mimosa flight. It's cute inside. Not somewhere I would rave about but would go back again if invited by friends or family.

The ambience is really nice and the staff is very welcoming and attentive, Which makes it for a pleasant experience. However, the food didn't quite work for me. In my opinion, To many aromatic mixed flavors that don't always come together well. I've visited a few times with family and friends. Trying a new entree every time , but unfortunately, I've been disappointed each time. My tri-tip and eggs entree : Tomatillo sauce was very sour and over portion made crispy potatoes soggy., topped with pickled red onions added more of a pungent taste and did not go well with eggs. Huevos Rancheros entree. Again saturated with tomatillo chilinegro sauce (Spicy) also acidic with pickled onions. Menu just needs a little attention focus on some simple diverse entrees with great flavor. This is only my option to provide thoughtful feedback. I wish you the best in future success.

We've been wanting to try SHU even since it opened. Went to farmers market and the SHU for breakfast. We were seated quickly and appreciated the light airy feel of the dining room. Wanted to have something non traditional for breakfast and decided on the open face omelette with chorizo, fresh house made pico and house made tortillas AWA fried potatoes. So many textures and flavors! A little spicy which I love. Wife had the Lobster Benedict and loved it . There was a minor delay in the food coming out but the place was packed and the food was definitely worth the wait. Can't wait to go back to SHU again soon.

The Hidden Gem of the Central Valley: A Taste of Denmark in Visalia…read moreIf you find yourself cruising down Highway 99 or heading toward the majestic Sequoias, there is a culinary "X" on the map you cannot afford to miss. Nestled in Visalia, Valhalla isn't trying to be a Michelin-starred temple of gastronomy and that's exactly why it's a masterpiece. As a food critic, I look for soul. I look for efficiency. As amateur food photographer/stylist, I look for that "honest plate." Valhalla hits the trifecta with a warm, "hygge" (Danish coziness) atmosphere that makes locals feel like family and travelers feel like they've finally found home. The Aesthetic: Rustic Hygge The vibe is "Elevated Roadside Charm." It's clean, bright, and unpretentious. The wood accents and subtle Danish motifs pay homage to the heritage of the Solvang-style roots without being kitschy. * Stylist's Note: The food here doesn't need tweezers or edible gold. It's all about the texture of a golden-brown crust and the vibrant contrast of a red lingonberry jam against a snowy dusting of powdered sugar. It looks exactly how you want comfort food to look: generous and real. The Menu: Scandinavian Roots Meet California Fresh The menu is a masterclass in "less is more." It honors Danish history while remaining approachable for the hungry traveler. Signature Dish, What Makes it Special Aebleskiver Spherical Danish pancakes, light as air, served with jam. The gold standard. Fluffy interior with a delicate crisp. The Viking Omelet Packed with savory proteins and local veggies. A powerhouse breakfast that fuels a hike through the Kings Canyon. Better than your grandmother's (don't tell her). Why It Works (The Restaurateur's Perspective) Valhalla succeeds because it knows its identity. In a world of over-complicated fusion menus, they stick to strong roots. * Service: It's the kind of place where the coffee stays hot and the smiles are genuine. * Accessibility: The menu is easy to read, making it perfect for a quick stop-off for travelers or a Sunday tradition for families. * Quality: You can taste the heritage. They aren't cutting corners on the fats or the flours; they are honoring the recipes passed down through generations. The Verdict: Whether you're a local regular or a wanderer looking for a rest, Valhalla is a mandatory pit stop. It is a reminder that the best meals aren't always found in big cities, but in the small towns where history is still served on a plate.
