    Tri Tip and Eggs!
    Shelley C.

Sunny Hyde Up has great food and our waitress was really sweet and helpful! The music is great and upbeat and provides a modern touch. I really enjoy the tri tip and eggs and we always get the churro French toast to share. Thank you for being here from the J&R Meat Crew!

Amazing service. Sat at the bar for Easter. Max was an awesome mixologist creating amazing drinks that were off menu. Sat next to the owners parents who were super nice and even let me try their Chicharrónes and guacamole which was very tasty. If you love spice get the huevos rancheros. Definitely will be back. This place is such an amazing vibe. Loved the cocktail that max created for me it had carrot juice and gin in it---was the best cocktail I've ever tasted!!!

This place is very nice I am from Las Vegas so it definitely gives that vibe of a fun brunch, we came yesterday December 20th, 2025 and had reservations for 11:15am we arrived at 11:04am and checked in with the host the place was packed so we waited outside when some space inside finally opened up we took a seat we seen allot of guest walk in and didn't have reservations and were told a wait time many walked out, the hosts seemed a little overwhelmed and lost when it came to seating the guests we didn't get seated until closed to 11:30, they sat us next a door that was operable that guests could walk in and out of, imagine eating an people are are just walking in and out of a side door next to your table. We sat at the table for about 10 mins before a server came to us, I believe her name was Victoria she took our order and asked if we were ready to order food but we were not another few mins passes and received our drinks we ordered the Christmas tree of mimosas and it was $45 and they were good. She came back again and took our order, upon watching the dining room I could see they were very busy sections seemed a little large for the severs considering allot of them were not checking in on their tables. Everyone else got their food before me I ordered the chicken and waffles and received mine last significantly so past that everyone at the table was halfway through their food I had two different food runners tell me sorry yours should be coming soon, I have no problem waiting for something if you tell me that the item I'm ordering has a little more of a drag time but nobody did. The server never came around again until it was time to pay, we sat for awhile before she came by and we had to ask for the check and that took a while to bring as well, a manger or owner was walking around talking to some but not all tables and let's just say mine definitely wasn't one that was touched. The check was finally dropped and again we waited for her to pick it up, then another girl came and dropped the check off, as we were signing the check the server finally came back over and said thanks for coming by then it was too late you were barley talking with us engaging with us it was a very transactional experience. As someone who has managed many restaurants on the strip maybe my expectations were too high but interacting with your table isn't too much to ask for. Seems like they need smaller sections and updating resy on their turn times for reservations so it's not so overwhelming , the food is good and that's why this place is packed but the service is not good and with me the food can be outstanding but if the service is not then that creates a bad experience for me.

Opened in summer of 2025, Sunny Hyde Up is a great brunch/lunch spot. It's been open for a few months and it's still a little rough on operations. The interior is pretty nice and appealing for a local brunch. It has a pretty large dining room with quite a bit of space. We went in on a Friday morning and service was a little slow but there weren't many servers working at the time. Our server was very lovely. There was a bit of delay with service but it wasn't too long. The food was very delicious. The French toast was so delicious. The filling was rich and could have been great with a little less. The churros were crunchy and perfectly dusted is cinnamon sugar. The chilaquiles were cooked very nicely and the beef machaca had such a flavorful broth that was paired nicely with the pickled onions. Picked onions by the way were nicely crunchy rather than soggy old onions that other places may use. The portions are BIG, both my friend and I weren't able to finish our food!

First I'll start by saying this place definitely gives you a Los Angeles feel here in Visalia. The restaurant is beautiful. Perfect for parties or special occasions. We came today for a causal breakfast. The Chilaquiles were 6/10. The Machaca was seasoned perfectly. The meat was amazing. My issue was the store bought salsa that was so running if you don't eat this fast you'll have soggy chips at the bottom. It ended up being more of a soggy soup. The chicken and waffles 9/10. We ordered them spicy and the macha salsa was perfect! The portion for the price was great too. Service was great. Seated fairly quickly, food came out quick also. I'll be back but we have better breakfast spots of food is the goal. If you're looking for a vibe and tipzy brunch this is the best spot in Visalia

Our waitress Liz was amazing! Very attentive and very personable. Our food was so delicious and our drinks were 100%! We will definitely be back

My wife and I came here for a brunch date, and Sunny Hyde Up impressed us from the start. The restaurant feels clean, modern, and trendy, with a great vibe. The bar area is beautiful, and the place was packed with people clearly enjoying themselves. Despite being busy, the staff stayed on top of everything. We had a reservation, arrived a little early, and were seated right away. We started with coffees, which were surprisingly good for brewed restaurant coffee. For food, I ordered the chilaquiles and my wife had the salmon bagel with egg. We also split a pancake as an "appetizer." The chilaquiles were excellent -- warm, cheesy chips stacked with flavor and topped with a perfectly cooked egg. My wife's dish came with potatoes that were outstanding on their own. The salmon bagel was also solid. And that pancake? Light, fluffy, and full of flavor -- gone in minutes. Our ratings: * Ambience: 10/10 * Food: 10/10 * Service: 9/10 This is one of those restaurants where you can tell everything on the menu is going to be good. They put creative spins on both Mexican and American classics, and it works. Highly recommend for brunch, and I'm looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu.

After looking at reviews on Yelp, my wife wanted to come here for her birthday with our adult kids. It is an hour a way, but so worth the drive. Glad we made reservations. Started with drinks. The Banana Bread Old Fashioned's were excellent! Also had the Carajillo which was equally impressive. Usually split breakfasts, not today. I got the spicy chicken and waffles and my wife got the Lobster Benedict. Both were great but not really finding lobster in the Benedict. Son had the chilaquiles and my daughter had breakfast tacos. Server brought a birthday cheesecake slice out. The place is modern and laid out well. We will have to come back!

Christmas Eve day my friend and I decided to try the new brunch place in town. I made reservations the day before on resy. We entered and were greeted right away with a short wait. We were seated in the large room on the west side of the building. A server came by and took our drink order. I ordered a $4.50 decaf coffee. Shortly after, she took our food order. I ordered a breakfast burrito for $18. My friend ordered some a la carte items. Then we waited. Others were seated around us. Waited some more. The restaurant was busy, but had empty tables so not slammed. About 45 minutes in, a couple near us who were seated AFTER us, got their food. I finished my coffee. Our server never told us what the wait was for or why and I couldn't find her so I flagged down another server. I explained people seated after us had their food. He went to find out. Still we waited with no explanation. About 55 minutes after arriving, we received our food. Our original server checked on us a couple of times after that. She did not ask if I wanted a refill or another coffee. I would have liked to have the coffee WITH my food but pay another $4.50? No. The food was okay, but nothing special for the cost. When the bill came, the tip guide on it suggested a 30% tip as a minimum. I felt that was a reach. Not impressed with food, value or service.

Food was good. Our server was very friendly. I got the patty melt, which was very messy. They didn't have ranch or aioli for the fries and as an avid dipper that was a let down. They brought out a Serrano sauce, but it was a bit too spicy for my taste. However, the wait time for drinks and food was quite long. It took about an hour to receive all parts of our meal, which was just 3 entrees and a mimosa flight. It's cute inside. Not somewhere I would rave about but would go back again if invited by friends or family.

We've been wanting to try SHU even since it opened. Went to farmers market and the SHU for breakfast. We were seated quickly and appreciated the light airy feel of the dining room. Wanted to have something non traditional for breakfast and decided on the open face omelette with chorizo, fresh house made pico and house made tortillas AWA fried potatoes. So many textures and flavors! A little spicy which I love. Wife had the Lobster Benedict and loved it . There was a minor delay in the food coming out but the place was packed and the food was definitely worth the wait. Can't wait to go back to SHU again soon.

The ambience is really nice and the staff is very welcoming and attentive, Which makes it for a pleasant experience. However, the food didn't quite work for me. In my opinion, To many aromatic mixed flavors that don't always come together well. I've visited a few times with family and friends. Trying a new entree every time , but unfortunately, I've been disappointed each time. My tri-tip and eggs entree : Tomatillo sauce was very sour and over portion made crispy potatoes soggy., topped with pickled red onions added more of a pungent taste and did not go well with eggs. Huevos Rancheros entree. Again saturated with tomatillo chilinegro sauce (Spicy) also acidic with pickled onions. Menu just needs a little attention focus on some simple diverse entrees with great flavor. This is only my option to provide thoughtful feedback. I wish you the best in future success.

I was really excited to try this place out for months, and man was I disappointed. Upon entering, there is a sign to wait to be seated. The restaurant was somewhat full, with a huge party in the back. We were the only ones at the door at the time and waited a minute or two for someone. I walked around to see if I can get anyone's attention but no one was around other than a few servers serving food. By this time, about five minutes pass, and another gentleman walks in. He asks if we were waiting long and we said yes. Not a minute later someone finally came to get us seated, which even then took a few minutes. The hostess stated that he was trying to help with the party in the back, but he wasn't serving them. I understand it being busy and helping, but I feel I am just as important as the bigger party. The table was super tiny for even 3 people to share. Another 2-3 minutes pass, and our waitress finally came to take our drink order (the drinks were the main reason I wanted to try the place other than the food). After taking our drinks, water and 2 cocktails, she leaves again tending to other tables who have already been served or finished their food. Maybe it's just me, but I would have assumed she would ask if we were ready to order or needed a few more minutes to look at the menu (we were both ready). By this time more and more people have come into the restaurant and have been seated more quickly than we have. They have also been served their drinks just as quick. She didn't come back until she came to serve our cocktails, but by then it's been 15 minutes and I told her we were just going to have our drinks and leave. The drinks were delicious, I got the hot cocoa and my sister got the eggnog. I am really sad I didn't get to try their food, but it's hard for me to enjoy any food if I start off with a bad experience. I will likely not return here and I am very disappointed to say that.

I had a delivery driver who also happened to pick up my orders from here. We got to talking about other spots in town and I mentioned this place and he says, "ohhh you're THAT Frank". Automatically I'm like "uh oh" lol. Now before you start wondering "two sides to every story"; here's mine. I order a burrito combo with a large limonada. I ask for my burrito with just meat and rice, sometimes onions. I ask for it to be grilled. I asked for (2) to (3) serrano peppers on the side. Before they "disappeared" off of GrubHub, they had a button on their page for sauces. They don't charge for them on the app and don't have a quantity cap, so i usually ask for around (4) to (5) green and the same in habanero. The burritos are big and I'm a salsa kind of guy lol. If 10 sauces overall is too much, then that's fine. At least give me something lol. I've been given (0) or (1) at times. My burrito is 50/50 sometimes grilled, sometimes not "mostly not", they will forget my drinks from time to time. When i ask the driver, they say they weren't given a drink. My food has come cold, the meat has been chewy and fatty. I've had to get refunds on orders because of the quality. So I always ask the drivers to make sure my drinks are there and my sauces are in the bag. But here I've been, coming back cause i was genuinely a happy customer more times than not. Then to randomly hear from a delivery driver who's picked up your orders from here before, you've been talked "sh$t' about. So much that he even contemplated telling me "DONT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE". This is a place you've given business to on a regular basis! It's disheartening and it hurts. My last review was even a good one lol. Needless to say I'm not coming back. Pretty messed up too, cause i was happy to see them come to town since i first encountered them in Bakersfield. Oh well.. talk all the crap you want now, hope you read this. I know one customer ain't no love lost. But now everyone will know how they're being treated behind their backs. Better places in town to find.

I found them because they were close to my air bnb and had a good rating and I see why. Everything was good. For dinner I had the carne asada burrito it was one of the best burritos I've ever had. I absolutely loved the green salsa with avocado chunks in it. Everything is 10/10 I went back the next morning for breakfast with my family and I had the carne asada sopes. For 1 burrito and 1 taco with tip, came out to around $33. Don't do delivery from here. The Burrito was not very good. I tasted more beans than rice but even then, it was more of a soupy burrito with a tortilla that you had to rip at and hope each bite wouldn't undo the whole burrito. There was some kind of salsa inside it that wasn't apart of the description. It gave it an off flavor. Al Pastor taco was meh. The corn tortillas tasted homemade, which was nice. But the meat was stringy, kind of fatty and an off color almost a light orange. It tasted better than the asada but still wasn't very good. I do appreciate they followed my request for extra salsa, but these packs look like they come from a frozen dinner you get at the store. Absolutely off putting. The flavor was "ok" but nothing special. Overall, not worth it. $33 and I was left with an upset stomach. I had such high hopes! I knew this place when it was El Presidente and I knew that it had closed. The land lord that owns…read morethe property is a friend of mine and wanted to meet me here. Like another customer stated that it had a funky odor and it was covered with bleach smell was true on my first visit and after talking with the owner of the restaurant, the menu sounded like it was worth coming back. I came back a second time and the owner recognized me and greeted me and directed us towards our table. There was no odor this time and it is an older establishment that actually was a house at one time. If you sit in the back area you can still see the crown moldings of the living area. We ordered the Marlin Empanadas- there is 4 to an order ($12). I wish I cut one so that you can see in the picture that it definitely is Marlin. Marlin is red flesh and I've fished in Cabo San Lucas and caught marlin and it's not the best flavored fish as it is dense and very oily. This definitely tasted like I remembered the last time I caught a marlin! Still this was good as I don't see marlin on the menu much so I usually order shrimp empanadas. We ordered Cooked Seafood Molcajete- Shrimp, octopus, crab, fish, and mussels. It came out boiling hot and I'm going to post video of the clay pot so you can see that it comes out hot from the kitchen!! Ordered a side of whole beans and homemade corn tortillas. Yes they do have homemade corn tortillas here and I definitely recommend! They also have a Tomahawk steak served with shrimp ($75) that I hear is a good seller!! Come support this restaurant! It's located on North Sante Fe and away from most businesses so you don't know it's there or has re-opened like I did!! Quality is good and everything had good flavor!

I'm very disappointed with my recent experience on 6/29. During our lunch visit, I placed a to-go…read moreorder for an "El Limonero" (fish ceviche) tostada along with our dine-in meal. When we arrived at my family member's house in Shafter and opened the container, the entire lime juice had leaked into the bag, and what was left was basically just a tiny portion of cucumber and avocado--definitely not a complete order. How was this almost $20 ($15 + Svc fee) I immediately took a photo and called the restaurant. Our server, Adriana, asked me to text the picture to the # I was calling +1 (559) 830-4004 so the manager could approve a refund. I did exactly as instructed, and they did respond after reviewing picture and said they would issue refund... but despite following up multiple times, no one ever processed my refund or even responded. Considering how expensive the food is here (plus added service fees), it's really disappointing to be treated with such unprofessionalism. All I expected was accountability and a resolution for an order that was clearly incomplete. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and customer care has left a very negative impression, and I don't plan to return.
