Okay, look. First of all, they serve your soda in actual, full-sized mason jars. Which I am personally obsessed with, because nothing gives me a baseline level of panic quite like having to make awkward eye contact with a server every four minutes just to beg for a refill. So having a massive jar of soda already right in front of me? Huge win. Now, moving on to the slightly traumatizing part: they did not bring out bread to the table. Excuse me? I'm sorry, but if I am sitting down for Italian, table bread is not an optional courtesy--it is a fundamental human right. And it became an even bigger issue when my fettuccine arrived, because the portion size was... let's just say aggressively small for a dinner entree. I was expecting a meal, not a decorative sample. However... it was infuriatingly good. They make their own pasta fresh in-house, and the texture was honestly undeniable. My husband ordered the Margherita pizza, and he literally declared--with complete, uncharacteristic enthusiasm--that it was hands-down the best Margherita pizza he has ever gotten. So, massive points there. What was not a massive point, however, was the subterranean seating situation. We were escorted downstairs into the basement, which was pitch black. But more importantly: the stairs are completely unlit. I'm sorry, but they are actively asking to get sued. It is a litigious nightmare waiting to happen. Someone is going to take one wrong step in the dark, tumble down that staircase, and own the entire restaurant by next Tuesday. They are practically begging for a lawsuit. That being said... despite the pitch-black staircase of death and the tragic lack of dinner rolls, overall? I really liked it. The food completely won me over, and I would definitely go back. My husband and I decided to spend our long awaited date night at Bistro Di Bufala and we are so glad we did! We got insider tips to ask to sit downstairs and that is the move for a more intimate experience. It is dark tho! We order the goat cheese appetizer and it had great flavor. My husband commented he wished it was larger haha. The Diavola pizza was delicious. Just the right amount of spice, the jalapeños were chopped up which I loved! Came here with our two young boys for dinner and while they don't have a kids menu, they can do some basics (i.e. buttered noodles, cheeseburger, pizza) in a kid's portion. We made a reservation for 8:30, not knowing the restaurant closed at 9. The food took a while to come out. The server hardly checked on us and was rushing us out when we weren't even done with our food. It was our fault for not checking, but why would a restaurant have reservations available 30 minutes before closing and rush us out? Spaghetti is usually a safe go-to but this one missed the mark. This is hands down the BEST food in Visalia! The only place I recommend to out of town visitors and where I take my family when they stop by. Brunch is by far the most delicious in the valley and a little slept on imo. Their breakfast flatbreads are cooked to perfection and frenxh toast is soo delicious. The menu is small and simple not alot but I would say everything is probably delicious since it tastes authentic. We walked in on a Saturday around 11:30am and since we didn't have reservations, we were told to be seated outside. Good thing the patio area where we were seated had a fan to cool us down since it was in the triple digits that day. The order: I have been on a pasta run lately, so I ordered the spaghetti with meatballs, no parm cheese sub mozzarella. It was such a delicious meal. The sauce was great, my noodles were Al dente, and my meatballs were a great size, not dry at all. It was splendid. My husband opt for something healthy and hearty so he got a beets salad and added beef to it. The salad was a nice blend of Smokey flavor from the beef, it has caramelized walnuts that's was a nice added texture and sweetness to the plate, and the beets were so good. Loved his meal, I kept forking for some. I got the kids the Margherita pizza and they loved it. It's more of a thin crust, flatbread style pizza and I thoroughly enjoyed it. To eat I had the Capelli D'Angelo with shrimp. This is such a simple and delicious tomato pasta made with San marzano tomatoes. The shrimp were also a delicious addition! I of course enjoyed a delicious amaretto sour, and then I also tried a cocktail with Marmalade in the title. The flavor was unique, citrus and floral and not too sweet, but not my favorite. Our meal consisted of the Alfredo di Bufala dish (I added chicken), the Chicken Marsala & the special of Bone-in Ribeye. The Bronze cut Pappardelle pasta was cooked to perfection the creamy alfredo sauce, with two cheeses (parmigiano reggiano & pecorino romano) with parsley in my opinion it could have used a little salt, but if that's the only complaint, it's fine. I would still order the dish again. The chicken Marsala included sautéed vegetables (cooked perfectly), the hand-cut pasta topped with mushrooms & a wine sauce, made this dish a favorite. The ribeye was 20oz with a red wine glaze the steak was ordered medium and it was served with tender potatoes, definitely a meat and potatoes lovers heaven! The clams were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Another server mentioned afterward that you can actually add pasta to the dish...
