I've been to Vintage Press for both brunch and dinner, and it's honestly one of my go-to spots when I want something a little more elevated in the Tulare/Visalia area, there really aren't a ton of "fancy" options around here, so this place stands out. For brunch, I ordered the steak and potatoes, and it was sooo good. Everything was cooked really well and had great flavor, definitely felt like a more upscale brunch compared to your typical spots. One of my favorite parts though is the pastries they bring out -- such a nice touch and always super good. I also tried their cappuccino and it was just okay, nothing amazing but not bad either. The service here is always amazing, which honestly makes such a difference. I think the brunch is better than dinner, oops hot take! But everyone is super attentive and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels classy but still comfortable. Definitely a solid spot for a nicer brunch or dinner, I'll for sure keep coming back. read more

The first thing I'd like to say is how amazing I was treated here. Jared provided stellar service and always came to our table with a full genuine smile. I love his authentic interaction not some scripted junk to get a big tip, but so kind hearted that I can tell it's just who he is. The husband and I needed a date night and to my surprise he texted me reservations to VP. (Just throwing it out there that we also dressed fancy and he also opened every door for me. Gotta give the man credit for trying. Lol) Any who, we arrived and were seated right away. We were offered beverages, given menus, and blessed with a loaf of love (bread) and told about the specials of the evening. We tend to look at the menu beforehand to save confusion and because we like to be prepared. I love beef so I knew I wanted steak. My date has his heart set on the duck but once he was told about the Swordfish, he caved. My hunny had an appetizer of the tin oysters and a wedge salad that was split in two and I actually got to enjoy alongside him. I'm not a fan of oysters so I passed but he mentioned that they were good. I took his word lol. I'm usually not a fan of blue cheese but this one was quite tasty. We also shared the mushroom goat cheese chile relleno and when I say shared I fed him two bites and claim the deliciousness as mine. lol By the time we got our entrees we were hitting our max, but still took a few bites for quality and freshness. EVERYTHING was delightful. I was very impressed again. Dining here sure is a treat and I'm sure we'll return because we had such a great time. An absolute gem of a restaurant that makes you feel as though you've stepped into an old Hollywood film or been transported back in time to a classic French dining room. Of course, the atmosphere isn't all Vintage Press has to offer. The service and food are equally top-notch. I visited for Thanksgiving dinner, and despite the restaurant being packed to the brim, they graciously seated us in the main dining room upon request. While we waited, I took in the surroundings and quickly realized that no detail is spared here. From the stained glass windows to the opulent solid wood molding, everywhere you look there's something beautiful to notice. The food was excellent as well. I ordered the seasonal baby pumpkin stuffed with smoked chicken, and it did not disappoint. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and the pumpkin was cooked to a perfectly custardy texture. I also enjoyed the harvest salad, which had a wonderfully balanced vinaigrette. To drink, I had an amaretto sour that was expertly made. I loved the Vintage Press! It had a very old school sophisticated vibe. They even had a man playing piano which was a lot of Elton John , Dinsey, and other throwback songs. I split the fall pear salad and it was a perfect combo. They brought out bread and butter and the bread was even warm - delicious My filet mignon was perfectly cooked to medium rare and the sauce on top was creamy and delicious but I think the steak alone would have been good The twice baked potato hit the spot. On July 4th, this was one of the only places open. We popped in for dinner and ate in their lounge area. The lounge transports you back in time with vintage furnishings, Tiffany lamps and dark wood wherever your eye roams. The cocktail, wine and food menus offered choices for pretty much any pallet. I ordered the True Love Rickey cocktail that was refreshing and a beautiful concoction. They also have Coke products if regular carbonation is your choice. We started the meal off with the meatballs, spicy to my taste with a heavy tomato sauce worth dipping g the meatballs in. For dinner, I had the 14 day aged Rib Eye cooked medium with herb butter, twice baked potato and grilled veggies. My husband had the Atlantic salmon with creamy sauce, pickled onions, carrot puree and friend spinach. We ate every bite! First time having Sunday brunch but it was amazing. I've been here plenty of times with my family over the years and have never been disappointed. So when I was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday and have brunch while I was in town visiting family I knew I had to come here. And just as expected this spot was perfect! Their brunch menu has a wide variety of options and their cocktails are delicious. Probably one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. For brunch they provide a fruit/pastry tower. It came fully loaded with many different fruits, mini croissants, poppy seed bread, cranberry scones, jams, and butter. For appetizers we shared the mushroom puff pastry and pork belly bacon. The mushroom pastry is insane, basically mushroom butter at this point but sooooooo good. And the pork belly was high quality, cooked great, and had a delicious sweet/spicy glaze. For entree I had the salmon and shrimp cake Benedict, AMAZING! So rich, a little zesty, and flavorful seafood. I would easily eat this for breakfast constantly. Everyone who dined was very satisfied with their drinks and food. This place is general is so cool! Disappointed! First I made a reservation and the only table was horrible! I informed the server several times I'm not able to have dairy. We ordered the escargot that was smothered in dairy along with the deviled eggs that was 3 half's $35.00. I had the prime rib I asked for straight horseradish not the creamy when it came I was sure it wasn't without she was a little upset and said it was along with the person bringing the food she then brought me the bottle that was labeled with all kinds of ingredients including dairy! Review is for Thanksgiving Dinner 2024! Vintage Press is a classy, old school restaurant in Visalia with a large bar separated by a large dining room. Its the sort of place for a formal banquet, or maybe a live musician or singer. We booked dinner for Thanksgiving dinner since that way we avoid having to cook, clean, or deal with days of leftover turkey. Dinner was outstanding and probably one of the better Turkey dinners I've had in a long time, Both the white and dark meat were moist and juicy, and the sweet potato and whole cranberries shined as sides too. For non-turkey fans, their Scottish Salmon was melt-in-your mouth soft and decadent. Even our picky 4-yo son enjoyed this, and he usually only likes penne pasta for dinner. The other items on the set menu were also good. There was a nice, mushroom puff pastry packed with umami and texture contrasts. Then, an edible roasted pumpkin bowl with chicken meat inside. Creative and healthy dish! The only minor letdown was dessert - we wanted cheesecake but they sold out and gave us an average pumpkin pie instead. Service was friendly and the ambiance is very good for parties. The head chef even stopped by to say hello. They had giant pumpkins for decorations and a nice patio outside for pictures. I went there with family to have lunch and celebrate a couple of birthdays. As we walked into the restaurant, I immediately realized that this place felt upscale and classy. The servers were wearing cummerbunds, and the tablecloths were white with white cloth napkins. After sitting down, I couldn't help but admire the detail of the woodwork and etched glass. A lot of thought went into the design of the restaurant. It was elegant and yet warm. I couldn't help wondering when the restaurant first opened. At the risk of making the restaurant sound dated, they do things like deliver warm sourdough bread to the table, something you don't see as much these days and yet the menu was very current offering tinned fish alongside classics such as steak and frites. I had a White Cheddar burger and fries. Other people at the table ordered the Lamb Lulu Kebab and another person ordered the chicken breast. We all enjoyed our lunch! I came here for a bridal shower, unknowing this restaurants, long reputation I live in Fresno, but I would travel here just for the vibes alone. I am obsessed with old architecture and stepping into this restaurant felt like a step into another life before Yelp existed before phones were even thought of this place had such an an ethereal vibe to it. The servers were very attentive and very kind, and I myself was very satisfied with the meals that I had First off the bread and butter you can't go wrong with bread and butter it was delicious I hadn't known the reputation that the stuffed pumpkins had so I got a bite off of my friend's plate. I immediately regretted not ordering some for myself because they were absolutely delicious and such a unique concept I myself ordered a steak wedge salad, and to my surprise, it was cooking perfectly medium rare. They didn't even ask me how I wanted to cook, which made me happy that they went ahead and did that The Prosecco they provided for the shower was delicious. Delicious I myself don't double in wines too much but their Prosecco made me change my mind. I am definitely a fan. I would like to return on a good payday and have a great date night here The course ended with a lovely dessert similar to an apple crumble ice cream. I wanted to give another 5 star review, based on our dinner Monday. Everything was spectacular!! The wedge salad is big enough to share, so we always split it. The special of the night was mussels in a white wine garlic sauce. It was the best ive ever had! I order mussels every where, and these were above and beyond. My husband had meatballs and he loved them. The bread is rustic and flavorful. We saved room for our favorite cheesecake with lemon curd. We shared a wonderful bottle of wine from their extensive wine list, and also had a cocktail. The gin orange press is no longer on the menu, but the bartender was able to make it. I heard that this morning place is the best in the Central Valley. I must say I'm a bit disappointed. I came with a party of 11 women for my sister-in-laws baby shower. The place is beautiful with stained glass everywhere - although it looks like a run down restaurant on the outside. It must've have been the prettiest restaurant I've been too. The food however is mediocre, some items were bland while others were overly salty. Most entrees came with the same sides - two asparagus, puréed carrots, and some beets. For the price I'm paying I was expecting something more lavish. For example, the filet mignon cost $75 and came with a large baked potato plain and two asparagus. Disappointing. The corn soup was starchy and not creamy. The summer salad was tasty but presentation looked sad. The salad just came with bell pepper, grape tomatoes, feta cheese, and red onions! I understand that this place might the best in Visalia but coming from Fresno I have had better options. I wouldn't pay the price to eat here, it's overly expensive for the food they serve. read more

This was an unbelievable place with unbelievable regulars to match. The restaurant thinks it's all that, the waitstaff think they're all that, and the patrons think they're all that. The whole experience was condescending and disappointing, but if they knocked it out of the park, I would understand and even give them a thumbs up. They didn't, I would go as far as to say that it was barely average--these people think that they're cooking exemplary food and sophisticated recipes. This is like buying an obviously fake Rolex and paying Rolex prices because an influencer said it was cool. Hope the analogy makes sense.... I had the duck. It was a full $20 more than my favorite duck that I've had at a different restaurant+different city which, unlike this one, actually has a Michelin star. Doesn't make any sense where they get this confidence from. LOL. Ambiance wise, horribly outdated in a sad and not classy way. The bones have lots of potential--if they wanted to they could make it look much more polished in a sophisticated Sean Connery type of way. read more

The food at Recipe night was very good. The wine not so much but you can get drinks from the bar on top of the 125 per person experience. The macadamian encrusted Halibut was delicious. It was nice to be able to ask the chef about how some of the recipes could be tweaked a bit. He even stated exactly what type of wine to use in the reduction sauce that went with the halibut. I wish they shared how they made the mashed potatoes under the halibut because those were really good. The ambiance inside has a lot of antique elements to it. The lighting is darker so it feels upscale. They have the coolest angel mural in one of the dining rooms. read more

Vintage Press might be the fanciest restaurant I've ever been to. My boyfriend's friend's parents treated us for dinner and to celebrate the upcoming new year. It is a three course meal with soup and salad already included regardless. For my starter, I had the escargot which was delightful and delicious. I wanted more! The only thing is that there were only 4 shells that were filled with meat and the other 2 were empty which was a disappointment. After my starter, I had potato soup and blue cheese dressing on salad. I normally do not like blue cheese at any cost but I ate it all! After those two meals, I had the lobster and baked potato for my entreé. The lobster was a little overcooked, hard to chew on but still a very good dish that filled me up. I forgot to mention my drinks. I had a Strawberry Basil Martini and Lemon Drop! Both were delicious and got me a little tipsy. read more

Beautiful place and setting inside. It was unexpectedly busy for a Tuesday night. Lots of chatting and people, great for the business, but the service was not up to par unfortunately. My husband and I waited for what felt like forever just to get service. We were seated around 6:25PM and got our food at 7:30PM thought about dessert but did not want to wait 30 minutes for the menu to be brought out another 30 to take the order and 30 to get dessert. It felt like a waiting game. It was our 1 year Anniversary and had somewhat of a high expectation for the price we were paying. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, but none of the vegetables complimented the steak. The Brussels sprouts should have been cut to bite size and not kept whole, it was like I was playing with my food. The carrot puree tasted like I was eating raw carrots, the potatoes were not fully cooked and under seasoned, the pickled red cabbage made absolutely no sense. The crushed whole peppercorn was a little confusing along with whole mushroom caps on the steak. This dish visually looks like a hot Christmas mess plate. I think there was just too much going on with all the sides. A simple sautéed broccolini or green beans and mashed potatoes would have been better option. read more

Came here for a work dinner with a provider and a colleague. It has old world money vibes, it's elegant and a tad bit stuffy, but not in a bad way, if that makes any sense!lol We walked in through the back by the bar, which seemed like a cool spot to have a drink! We dined in the back room. Food was great, we had 2 salads to share, which were very generous portions. I had a Willamette Valley Pinot and the salmon, which came recommended by the provider, and it was great! And for dessert, we shared the crème brûlée and I had a latte-they don't carry non-dairy milk so I had to go with dairy. Service was pretty good. It's a tad bit pricey to dine here, but from what I hear, it's one of the nicest restaurants in town! Oh and the patio is darling, I would love to have brunch someday here. Everything tasted WONDERFUL. I would give the taste of all the appetizers, entrees and dessert a 10 if I could. Service started out great and then went to a zero by the end. We were never asked if we wanted more water, wine or drinks when the glasses went empty. Waitress kinda disappeared at one point and got busy with other tables. I ended up sick for 24 hours. My stomach started swelling in the parking lot and was up all night sick and nauseas. It lasted 24 hours. Not sure if it was something I ate? Maybe caviar? I've never had that before. As elegant and refined as this restaurant may look, cleanliness is a serious issue. When we were first seated, I was served a glass of water that had a noticeable lipstick stain. I brought it to the waitress's attention, and she replaced it--something I was willing to overlook. However, when our coffee arrived, two out of the three cups had visible hairs in them. Once again, we reported it to the waitress, but she neither seemed surprised nor offered a genuine apology. Her attitude came across as indifferent and dismissive. Very poor customer service. For a place that presents itself with such sophistication, the lack of basic hygiene and professionalism is unacceptable. I do not recommend dining here. read more

We had had a disappointing trip but we happened upon this incredible jewel! I don't have words to say how great this place is. We had no reservation but we were seated within 15 minutes. (Who thought you'd need reservations in Visalia?) Jerrod was our excellent waiter. He took our order with a smile. Yan wanted escargot and she was beyond pleased. We shared a beautifully cooked artichoke with an aioli dip. My God it was good. A salad followed and it was on to the main course. Yan had the halibut and I had the ribeye. The atmosphere is like you're eating in the grand dining room of the Titanic. In fact, the restaurant was designed to replicate the Titanic. I must warn you, it isn't cheap but there is total quality here. A step back into time! Felt like I was time traveling, love all the vintage appeal of this restaurant. Came for the brunch menu. I had the bacon omelette - tasted high quality and so was the filet mignon hash. The coffee was delish and the little pastries and fresh cut fruit. The best mini croissants too!
