It was my first time coming here. It was a Monday at 10 am and it was already packed. It took about 10 min to get a seat. Once seated they came for out drink order and them menu order. The staff was really nice and friendly. I ordered eggs Benedict and they were great! The eggs were just right over a toast bread and the sauce had such a great flavor! I wouls definitely go again!

Food here is excellent and the portions are more than generous, to the point you might have leftovers for later on. The service was excellent despite being busy and the staff were attentive and made sure our coffee mugs were always filled. The ambiance is pure Americana, which is a nice welcome change of pace and love all the automotive decor! A car lovers paradise and all things local! We have not been since before the pandemic but we will back again as it was nice to patronize a local restaurant! Thanks and 'till the next one!

Fast service and about less than 10 minutes to get my food. I been here before and it was busy it's a nice restaurant to get away from the ihop and Denny's. The waitress was nice asked what we needed when she made her rounds. I would come back again and get their hamburger some sound pretty good to taste.

Before we left Visalia and return back to L.A. we went the Corner Cafe not far from Motel 6. We decided to go there when we arrive there they people in the restaurant we step and the waitess told us can seat anywhere we found the perfect table to seat at then we look at the menu. We look at the menu then we decided to order my wife order the chicken Fried Steak and a bowl of cream of wheat then I order chicken waffle. I have order different vision of chicken waffle from restaurants but this one it have a good flavors in the chicken it was light and crispy and waffle was airy and light. My wife enjoy her chicken Fried Steak she.say it wasn't oil or over batter. The serve was good and waitess were very friendly.

Come hungry! This diner is a staple in town and has quite a following. It's adorned with nostalgic decor for car enthusiasts. It's simple diner food in northwest Visalia. The portions are huge so come hungry. Not only is the food great but the service is amazing. They offer daily breakfast and lunch specials and you'll always see the same friendly faces when you dine here. Not a large space so most times there is a wait but they get you in rather quick. It's a great spot for eats!

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. For was absolutely amazing. But the server is what won me over. I didn't catch her name but she was the sweetest. The place was busy but she still made it a point to stop and talk to us. Not just asking about the food. But questions about our vacation. The kids wanna go back again tomorrow!!! Back to the food though. Good portion sizes. The pancakes were huge. And even though the place was busy our food was out super quick and it was fresh!!! I highly suggest getting the biscuits!!!

Corner Cafe never disappoints. They open at 6am. Plenty of parking. Very popular cafe. Polite staff, the food is made promptly. The portions are large enough to share.

Veggie omelet with hash browns, sourdough toast. Their blackberry jam is AMAZING!

The potatoes were amazing, the biscuits were great, and the gravy was so good! There's a small indoor seating area that feels like a modern diner and they have plenty of tables under the pergola outside, where there's vines, birds, and flowers, which feels very relaxing.

The…read moreplace was about 80% occupied, which says a lot for that time of day, but it still felt chill and relaxed. The interior is modernized (not overdone), clean, and welcoming, with a nice quote on the wall that adds character. I ordered the breakfast burrito ($11). It's simple but very well seasoned (scrambled eggs, potatoes, and cheddar cheese). No meat, which I was craving, but the herbs and spices definitely carry the flavor. Not sure what they use, but it's tasty. Portion-wise, it's a solid medium-to-large burrito and comes split in half, so it could easily be shared. I've seen bigger burritos elsewhere, but this one is filling enough. That said, $11 feels a bit pricey for something so simple. I totally understand inflation, but I think adding a protein option like bacon, ham, or sausage would really elevate it and make the price feel more justified. Service was quick; about five minutes total and the cashier was very friendly. I mentioned it was my first time there and that I'm part of Yelp Elite. I kind of wish there had been a bit more engagement at that point, like suggesting a popular item or checking with the manager about anything for Yelpers. Not a dealbreaker at all, just a missed opportunity to go the extra mile. Overall, good food, chill environment, friendly service, and efficient turnaround.

Elderwood is located in the darling hotel in downtown Visalia on the rooftop, it's a small beautiful location with indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to sit outside the weather was nice but there was a bit of a breeze we asked of a heater could be brought closer to us in which it did when we were done with our dinner. My friend and I dressed up nice only to find people wearing sweatshirts sweats, jeans and whatever else they found in their closet next time I know I can just come as I am, but hey we dressed up to feel good and look out best and we did! Our server wasn't very attentive she only had one other table outside and didn't seem to engaged we started by splitting a Caesar salad and ordered a lemon drop martini, we sat and chatted then she took our entree order in which we both ordered the roasted chicken. The food came and it was absolutely delicious incredible flavor the chicken wasn't dry, we continued to catch up the server came by when we half way through our meal to check on us, we did have another drink with our dinner, the lemon drops were fantastic. Overall location was prime food and drinks were excellent and service was mediocre at best but again why do I even have my hopes up for? I need to go in expecting less so when it actually is average at best I won't be disappointed like I am, like I said in this economy if I'm willing to spend my money at least act like to you care to help is that too much to ask?

And have had excellent service, and superb food. However, tonight I have never been so embarrassed and disappointed. My friends got there before me and were all enjoying drinks and appetizers at the bar when I arrived. The restaurant was quite busy due to prom. Even the elevators weren't running properly due to kids wanting prom photos inside of them. I made it to the lounge and walked up to the bar to greet my friends, and was immediately confronted by a waiter who told me,"This isn't a standing bar, and there are no empty seats. You'll have to go down stairs and wait for us to let you know when a seat is available." I've never been so humiliated and embarrassed in my life. There are so many ways this could've been handled differently, politely discreetly, kindly, but this was the choice, to publicly shame me for greeting my friends and "standing" near them for less than 2 minutes. We were celebrating a friend, and were planning on drinks, appetizers, and dinner. With there being 6 of us, and that would have been a sizable check. I went down to the concierge, explained the situation, and asked who the manager was, only to be told that this is the restaurants policy. She looked at the video of the bar and said, "it is really crowded at the bar right now", to which one of my friends who left with me said,"yeah, that's our group, and now we are leaving". The concierge came over and gave me a card to contact someone else. But it was little too late. I can't recommend this restaurant due to such rude service.

The indoor seating place is well placed and doesn't feel too crowded. Being from out of town, been fortunate to have their breakfast and lunch. Breakfast: had the chicken fried steak, egg and hashbrown. Big portion enough to take some home. The breakfast was good but nothing flavorful to brag about but what you would expect for a good chicken fried steak. Cooked perfect. Lunch: had the fried burger and regular fries. The burger was a good size, seasoned well and cooked (medium) as requested. The fries were plain and i would recommend the curly fries. I also had the sampler plate. Onion rings: cut and cooked good. Fried pickles: tasted as they should. Cheese curds: batter well but needed and little longer to cook. The cheese had that laffy taffy stretch. Chicken wings: buffalo. The flavor and cook was tasteful but just too small. About the size of a fun size snicker. Overall: the service and food is still great. I recommend this place for sure. The Hidden Gem of the Central Valley: A Taste of Denmark in Visalia…read moreIf you find yourself cruising down Highway 99 or heading toward the majestic Sequoias, there is a culinary "X" on the map you cannot afford to miss. Nestled in Visalia, Valhalla isn't trying to be a Michelin-starred temple of gastronomy and that's exactly why it's a masterpiece. As a food critic, I look for soul. I look for efficiency. As amateur food photographer/stylist, I look for that "honest plate." Valhalla hits the trifecta with a warm, "hygge" (Danish coziness) atmosphere that makes locals feel like family and travelers feel like they've finally found home. The Aesthetic: Rustic Hygge The vibe is "Elevated Roadside Charm." It's clean, bright, and unpretentious. The wood accents and subtle Danish motifs pay homage to the heritage of the Solvang-style roots without being kitschy. * Stylist's Note: The food here doesn't need tweezers or edible gold. It's all about the texture of a golden-brown crust and the vibrant contrast of a red lingonberry jam against a snowy dusting of powdered sugar. It looks exactly how you want comfort food to look: generous and real. The Menu: Scandinavian Roots Meet California Fresh The menu is a masterclass in "less is more." It honors Danish history while remaining approachable for the hungry traveler. Signature Dish, What Makes it Special Aebleskiver Spherical Danish pancakes, light as air, served with jam. The gold standard. Fluffy interior with a delicate crisp. The Viking Omelet Packed with savory proteins and local veggies. A powerhouse breakfast that fuels a hike through the Kings Canyon. Danish Sausage & Eggs Authentic, snappy sausages with a unique spice profile. A savory trip to Copenhagen on a single plate. Swedish/Danish Pancakes, Paper-thin, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth. Better than your grandmother's (don't tell her). Why It Works (The Restaurateur's Perspective) Valhalla succeeds because it knows its identity. In a world of over-complicated fusion menus, they stick to strong roots. * Service: It's the kind of place where the coffee stays hot and the smiles are genuine. * Accessibility: The menu is easy to read, making it perfect for a quick stop-off for travelers or a Sunday tradition for families. * Quality: You can taste the heritage. They aren't cutting corners on the fats or the flours; they are honoring the recipes passed down through generations. The Verdict: Whether you're a local regular or a wanderer looking for a rest, Valhalla is a mandatory pit stop. It is a reminder that the best meals aren't always found in big cities, but in the small towns where history is still served on a plate.
