UPDATNG this review because I realized I was overly excited when I posted and I had SO MANY typo's If you don't go on a bear hunt looking for this place.. you'll never find it, unless you happen to be randomly driving or walking by -- it's a literal whole in the wall, but very well known by the locals What can I say about this place.. I've definitely been coming here since the beginning (before patio seating and mobile orders) haha thanks to my mom! It's stood out from the very beginning & I love how much they have expanded (3 locations now -- Visalia, Tulare, Fresno). There's something for everyone on their Menu. I personally believe that they have some of the best matcha's around. BUT... if you drink your matcha with LOTS of sweetener, you probably won't like a real matcha from here -- I say this because some will complain that it taste like GRASS... and well, it damn near is (green tea leaves) lol--all jokes aside, their drinks and food are all hand crafted and all made and / or roasted in house! I have not once ever had a complaint about this place. I love the ambience inside and out.. definitely a favorite here in Visalia! Service and time... always as expected. You are getting hand crafted drinks and food, so don't expect them to rush. ****Rush hour in the am and during lunch hours**** The workers are always very knowledgeable about their menu items & products. This was a Huge plus for me, because sometimes I like to ask the employees for their recommendations or personal favorites! They usually end up being pretty darn good Their pop tarts... if you can get them when they have them.. TRY THEM OUT!! Actually, all their pastry's and breakfast items are delicious! Some cafés are built for solitude; this one is built for motion. The staff was friendly, your standard modern barista crew, casual, quick, and easygoing. They run a tight operation, even offering mobile orders, something you usually see in bigger industrial coffee spots. Pastries, sandwiches, teas, espresso, the menu covers all the bases. Finding the entrance was its own adventure. Two doors, a divider in the middle, and a moment of "Wait... which side do I go through?" Not a dealbreaker, just one of those quirks that makes you laugh once you figure it out. Lighting is interesting here, low lamps mixed with a flood of natural light pouring in from the center of the shop. It gives the place a warm‑meets‑industrial feel, like a café that grew out of a warehouse and decided to keep the personality. Will I come back? Maybe. Came in around 10:30am on a Thursday. Parking is a little difficult as there is a parking lot in back (Apple Maps took us there) and looks to be for use of another business-we parked there anyway. The building is really cool and interior is nice too. There was a small line but it went quickly. We ordered a matcha latte unsweetened with oat milk and an ice coffee with an extra shot of espresso. It took around 15 minutes to get our drinks. Matcha latte had a really strong matcha flavor-YUM. The ice coffee is nice and strong with the extra shot!! (There are standard up charges-light ice .50$, alternative milk, etc) There is a large outdoor patio area-which was crowded today. Our server was friendly and helpful. Boo on the customer service here it's basically non existent The two times my husband and I have ordered ahead and paid for "side of crema" for the breakfast burritos they haven't given it to us. In fact the second time I went to pick them up and saw there was no side of crema I had to flag down a BOH member since the baristas just looked at me instead of offering help. I asked for the side of crema and was told "it's a 1.10" and he walked away. After getting his attention again I told him I know it's 1.10 I paid for it. He gave me one. I asked for another since I paid for TWO burritos with TWO sides of crema and he reluctantly gave them to me. Just rude all around honestly. I would be more understanding except for the fact that it says ON the receipt that's on the bag "SIDE OF CREMA" Just some very frustrating experiences for 32$ (2) burritos. read more

Despite being a coffee lab, I find Component's food to be the star aspect over their drinks. Regardless of the time of day, Component always appears full. There were outlets indoors and free wifi for guests. The service is limited but friendly. There was a self serve station for take out boxes and condiments near the register. *Matcha Latte: I've tried it both hot and cold, and both skewed milky. The matcha was very weak and clumpy, especially iced. The only tolerable form was when they had a seasonal strawberry matcha latte. *Chai Latte: similar issue with it skewing milky. The chai wasn't fragrant and it was missing the spiced aspects. One of my least favorite executions of chai. *Breakfast Burrito: top tier burrito. This was stuffed with egg, potato, bacon and onion and smothered in their chipotle sauce. The ratio of egg to potato was ideal and the chipotle sauce should be bottled. Everything was wrapped in a warm tortilla and it had some heftiness. *Potatoes: the side was tasty, especially with the chipotle sauce but it's a bit dry on its own. Still seasoned well though. This was a good study spot as most patrons are quiet and respectful. I would visit prior to noon in order to enjoy their food menu. Otherwise I wouldn't stop by for any of the beverages. read more

The best place for drinks I've tried in Visalia so far! I only got them strawberry matcha which was seasonal but I enjoyed it! It kind of tasted like strawberry milk. I came here around a 9 AM on a Sunday and has no issues getting a seat! It started getting packed though in a couple hours. They have food here too but I didn't get a chance to try it. I was able to work at one of the tables and they had plenty of outlets! Parking will be found in the back (not the Main Street) if there is any. Otherwise there should be street parking! read more

During our short stay in the area my husband and I found this place while taking a walk around downtown Visalia. My first thoughts were that it was in a nice little spot tucked away from the main road but easy to get to. The vibes felt good and I loved that it was in an older building. We were greeted once we entered and our barista was very friendly! He even talked about the history of the building before it was a coffee shop. Our drinks tasted great and we were enjoying the chill atmosphere. If I lived here I would definitely be studying with a cup of coffee. Staying at the Marriott nearby, I returned again this year and this round, dined in the coffee lab for a nice lunch. Ordered the usual Oat Latte in a 16oz and a regular Cappuccino and with an hour lunch break, I opted to order the Bagel Sando and Avocado Toast. Bagel Sando had the Everything Bagel with Avocado, Bacon and a Runny Egg. Dense Sando but a good item when shared. I requested it to be cut in half when the order was placed. The Avocado Toast was very generous with Avocado, topped with sprouts and a poached egg. Love the runny egg. Excellent! Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Visalia. The indoor space was fully occupied during lunch. Luckily the corner couch and arm chair with coffee table was available when I arrived. We stopped by Component on our way to Sequoia National. I love that they're open early to catch those heading out and wanting a good cup of coffee for the drive. I ordered a cortado, the hubby and iced vanilla latte with almond and a drip on the side. The coffee was fantastic, smooth, rich, and not bitter. We took two bag of beans to go and just finished the last batch at home. We also grabbed a vanilla cardamom donut and a jalapeño popper-esque pastry to go. The pastry was awesome, flaky, had a kick, saltiness from the bacon, and cream cheese balanced it. I'd highly recommend this shop and will return the next time we're up there. Actually, Visalia was my least of the places that I expected to see a great place for coffee. The shop has an ample parking space, modern industrial style ambiance and great baristas. When I arrived in the late morning , the place was already full and had to wait a good 30 minutes in line. Surprisingly, they have great breakfast plates in menu. I really recommend to try Component Plate. Simple and healthy. As a coffee company, they are one of the mainstream coffee roaster in California operating a subscription base service. I am trying really hard to like this place but I don't know what is the hype here. Each time I pass by this place I try to grab one thing at a time to see what's good here but so far I can't find it. SERVICE : Nice, quick, and friendly. They're really fast at making their drinks but their food takes a while. Food service ends at 2pm. ( 4/5) AMBIENCE : Their location is pretty hard to find. It's hidden in the middle with a parking lot blocking it. The vibe is really NY brick wall. It gets really pack inside. They have a pattio too. It can get really loud inside. FOOD/DRINKS : ICED MATCHA LATTE : Taste like a plain water down ice matcha. I can't taste the milk because it's too water down. It taste a little powdery. It's not sweet. RATE : (1/5) SEASONAL WATERMELON LEMOMADE : it's ok. It does taste like fresh squeeze watermelon lemonade. RATE :(3/5) ACAI BOWL : A quarter of the bowl was made with peanut butter that taste like justin peanut butter. The other quarter is fruit. Half of it is acai. On top of that is just sprinkled granolas. PROS : Honestly, I think that is just too much peanut butter and apples. It feels like I'm just eating peanutbutter and apples only. Very good coffee and tea options here. Everything that I've had here is very good. The little snacks here are also worth ordering. The atmosphere has a great vibe that adds to the downtown area. I believe that they serve a better purpose then its more over populated competitors which is only a couple blocks away. Do yourself a favor and choose this place over the big name.
