Such a cute place for a restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor dining as well as upstairs and downstairs. It's a busy place for lunch with good salad and sandwich options. The Portuguese sweet bread was so good! We didn't try dessert this time but am looking forward to the next visit. Staff was very friendly. read more

Staff was wonderful, I MUST SAY!! The amount of food for the price let something to be desired, although the taste was nice. It was a nice place to meet up and have a lunch with friends. The lower floor was a bit loud when we first were seated, but quieted down as it emptied out. read more

This was my first visit to Hazel's Kitchen. I loved the older home setting and look forward to coming back when the weather will allow outdoor seating. The food is fresh and I chose the chicken salad sandwich on Rosemary focaccia bread, delicious! I selected their angel hair pasta side out of curiosity and it was also tasty, like a cold salad pasta. A brownie for dessert topped off the lunch. They had cookie and cake options too. My friend who had lunch with me is a vegetarian so more options for her would be my only suggestion. For salad and sandwiches this is your place. The food is always fresh and tasty. The service is top notch. The place is an antique 2 story home converted into a restaurant with seating inside and outside. It has loads of plants and trees and shady areas. You dine while listening to classical jazz. We loved Hazels .. it was our first time . The house is darling with all the Halloween decorations . The service was great the food was wonderful . Friendly servers . I had the oriental chicken salad and potato leek soup . My friend had a sandwich on focaccia bread and a bowl of soup . The cookie we got was good too . Will definitely go back . read more

Great food and quick help. The most impressive part of this restaurant was the atmosphere. What a peaceful and lovely place to eat. The friendly waitresses, Hostess, beauty of the shaded garden, temperature, fan, and music and good food all contributed to this excellent atmosphere. I had the half red pepper chicken sandwich with side of angel hair pasta. $9.99. 7/5 I ended up ordering an additional inside, and wish I had ordered the full sandwich. $12.99 7/5 The chicken sandwich, which you can choose the bread it goes on, was excellent. The chicken was actually seared very nicely and still moist, and the roasted red peppers were a great addition and not overwhelming with a nice slice of melted cheese. 3/5 The angel hair pasta, was good, but I would suggest a little more flavor. Either with maybe some fresh lemon and fresh thyme or other seasoning. It also tasted very slightly slimy, and this could have been from the pasta sitting out too long. 4/5 I also had the tropical iced tea, it was $2.99 and refills are free. It was nice, but I think I would've liked a little bit more citrus flavor in the tea. 5/5 snickerdoodle cookie $2.00 Fairly priced cookie, and kind of a normal size for a cookie to eat inside and crispy edges. 7/5 Overall, what a wonderful experience. As I mentioned previously, I think the combination of the atmosphere and good food contributed to a great dining experience. read more

I love this place. Their lemonade is so refreshening and their sandwiches are perfect. This is such a nice place for a quick lunch to catch up with friends. I always get the Turkey sandwich with potato salad. The interior is lovely too, since the restaurant is an old house which I love the vintage! We came to visit Tulare and decided to give this place a try. The veggie sandwich taste just like a cold bagel with veggies and the chicken salad was simple and refreshing. We only saw our waitress with tattoos twice the hole time, very rude. Vibe felt off-putting and unwelcoming and racist. If it wasn't for this classless behavior we would for sure come again but wouldn't recommend or come here again. What can you expect though? You're out in the country. read more

I haven't been to Hazel's Kitchen in years, but now that my new job is in the same city, I wanted to have lunch here. And it definitely did not disappoint!!! I used their online ordering system (very easy). I ordered the 1/2 turkey sandwich with Angel hair pasta and it is as delicious as the last time I've had it. I arrived 10 minutes earlier than what the online app said it would be ready, but it was ready early! They also offer curbside pick up. I will definitely be returning. read more

One of the gentlemen who is an owner of the restaurant helped me get my husband from the car. He's in a wheelchair into the restaurant when we got there and when we left. The food was good. We liked their potato leek cream soup. There was good, friendly conversations going on people all joined in to sing happy birthday to two ladies whom we did not know the spirit of Christmas was there. Our chicken teriyaki sandwich was good and the desserts are baked by one of the brothers fresh every day. I knew it when I tasted the lemon bars I told my husband this is homemade. read more

Hazel's is a mainstay in Tulare, with great salads and sandwiches in a lovely environment in an old house. Porch seating is great when the weather isn't too hot. The only unfortunate thing is that it's not open for dinner. read more

Normally I adore this place the food and service. Not so today. I know they were swamped but my service was very rude. I had tried calling in to place an order while driving into town... no answer 3 times. I wasn't sure if they were open since they usually close sometime around the holidays. I drove into town to check and when I went in to order I mentioned the phone...rudely I was told to order online. A little hard to do driving and I had never had troubles before phoning. They gave me a my drink then informed me it would be at least 30 minutes before my food would be available. I returned to work and picked up my order when called. No problem. But I asked for a refill of my drink since it was nearly gone and diluted after a 30 minute wait. I was informed that since I was take out it would cost me another dollar because I was take out. If they had told me that when given the drink I wouldn't have accepted it. I'm sorry that they need a $1 for an ice tea refill to make ends meet. I passed on the refill and got some water back at work. The ambiance created by staff was sheer frenzy. So glad I know this is not the normal or I would never be back! read more

Went in to try a sandwich and salad. The sandwich was very tasty. I ordered a hot Pastrami on basil focaccia bread. And a side order of potatoe salad. Very good. My wife ordered a Cobb salad and it had plenty of everything to make a good salad. Will definitely go back to try Orth sandwiches. read more

This find was an accidental one. While running lunchtime errands I saw right opposite the shiny vintage fuselage of what looks like a DC-8 a turn of the century wooden home replete with a wraparound raised porch that looks so so inviting. The kitchen offering outdoor dining should not be passed up. The choice today is French Dip sandwich served with au jus sauce with a side of garden salad and homestyle thousand island dressing The sandwich is of a very modest size . . . and that is their designated "whole sandwich". If light lunch fare is what you seek, say no more. This is your nirvana. If you are a footlong Subway sandwich connoseur this place won't satisfy your crave. read more

Can't comment on the food as we never got served. We got there around 12:30 and I'm assuming it was full as we never got inside. The server we saw was running inside and outside. She let a couple inside to get out of the cold. We got her attention and told her we had four people she rolled her eyes and waved us off like a fly that was bugging her. I had never tried their food but if they are this rude to customers than I don't really care to. read more

This was a first time for me. The place is so cute!! Have wanted to go since moving to Tulare. The staff are great and the food...? OMG the potato soup was exactly what I have been craving and the half chicken sandwich mmmmmm, and on the rosemary olive oil focaccia was to die for!! Friday, August 20, 2021 I went to Hazel's Kitchen for lunch I had a Chinese Chicken Salad and Angel Hair Pasta and for Dessert I had a Lemon Square and to drink I had their Specialty Tropical Iced Tea. I recommend the Chinese Chicken Salad and the Angel Hair Pasta and the Lemon SquareI for Dessert I also recommend on a hot day to quench your thirst Hazels Tropical Ice Tea it's very refreshing. Hazel's Kitchen is only open for lunch Thursday August 19, 2021 I showed up only to find out they just Closed Hazel's Kitchen for the day but there were still people eating outside on the porch and inside in the dining room. So if you plan to go to Hazel's Kitchen find out what time they open and close and plan your lunch accordingly and put it on your calendar you won't be sorry you did. read more

$9.99 for sandwich and small amount of pasta? Not sure if worth the price. Sandwich sooo dry could barely choke it down. Pasta the same! House dressing is the reason I give 3 stars best dressing I have ever had would buy bottles of it. Yelp said they had deserts nothing on display when I went had to ask then charged $1.75 for a small brownie and $1.75 for a cookie I bake at home. Not impressed. Disappointed spoke so highly of this place to my coworkers to be embarrassed for what I brought back for their lunch. Learning lesson! read more

Stopped in to give this place a try when I was in town for business. Noticed the Aero Hotdog place is literally right across the street from Hazel's. The place is small but with plenty of space upstairs and down. I was seated promptly and my drink order filled in what can only be described as a "speedy" fashion. Ordered the Ham & Bacon club with the basil focaccia bread and a green salad w/ vinaigrette dressing. Excellent on all of the above! Prices were reasonable but lunch ended up costing me about $13 with a drink and the tip. Not exactly cheap but not bad considering it's a sit down and relax kind of place. As far as eateries in Tulare go... this is the best I've found for casual lunch. I'll be back and next time I'm trying one of the delicious looking cookies they had in a jar. read more

Hazel's Kitchen is a great hole in the wall place to grab some of the best sandwiches and salads for lunch. Everything is freshly made daily with lots of variety and choices no matter what your dietary needs. My favorites are the vegetarian sandwich on the basil focaccia, the pastrami salad and the chinese Chicken Salad. Their homemade potato salad & angel hair pasta is the bomb. Soup is available in the fall & winter and potato salad in spring and summer. And they serve the best tropical ice tea ever. Anyone who knows about Hazel's, knows about their ice tea! Once you're done with lunch, try out the homemade desserts made daily and check out all the home decor items for sale. You can also purchase the tropical ice tea to brew at home. Hazel's also caters and is a great place to host baby & bridal showers, etc. I highly recommend attending their brunches when they offer them. They make killer breakfast too! Had red pepper chicken sandwich on basil focaccia bread, all super tasty and bread is so soft. Angel hair pasta is a little bland but everything is still pretty good. Hopefully next time I can try the potato salad or reg salad and switch up my sides, I've had the pasta twice. read more

The staff were so friendly. This place is amazing. When you eat here, it's like you are eating with family. The sandwiches we ordered were delicious. The chicken dumpling soup was just about the best soup I have ever tasted. I so... want the recipe. For dessert we had yummy, fresh cookies. I'm so glad we stopped here and tried this restaurant. So I called and she proceeded to say she was soo busy. I politely told her,you absolutely were not. I watched you for 20 minutes! And you ignored me multiple times after looking at me. You dismissed me. She claimed she had 3 online orders before I got there. She stated she found my order. I reminded her that I placed my order 25 minutes before I even got there. She then apologized again,while defending the fact she was "so busy" I stated that "being so busy" has nothing to do with customer service. I asked for management. She said they would be back on Monday. What a let down. What a shame that people With no customer service have to work in it just to have a job. I have sympathy and understanding to a certain level. But now I'm out the $20 I spent on a terrible sandwich from the neighboring store plus my expectations and business from what I was expecting to be an amazing sandwich. (I know this was long,sorry) lol. All and all,awful from start to finish. Don't go here expecting anything beyond what an employee is forced to do. PS,still waiting for my refund.
