Taiwanese bakery @ Fort Lee, NJ Tried their twisted donuts, white bread, sponge cake, shredded pork bun and black coffee. All tasted very good and liked the taste of the coffee too. They also had cake and other chinese bakery items. The price was reasonable and the cashiers were friendly. There was limited inside seatings and outside seats for warm weather.
A small bakery just off the parking lot in Fort Lee (there's a back entry off another street but that one looks like just a white corridor in a strip mall). They have a number of interesting bakery items including taro and tiramisu pudding/cakes and bubble tea (which was ok, bubbles weren't too flavorful). The sesame red bean donut - excellent. The taro pastry... less good. So mix and match based on flavors and style!
We have gone to Sunmerry Bakery for several different occasions the past couple of years. Each occasion, whether it was for a birthday, breakfast item, snack, has been a great bakery go to place for us when we stop by Fort Lee. A good selection of different sweets, breads, cakes, and more. There is more to be shown on the menu above too. I went here for a light Japanese cheesecake a few weeks ago. My coworkers loved it. I didn't include a picture because I forgot to take one! It was light and a different desssert for individuals to try. Back in October, my little guy turned a year old. A few days before we had his birthday, we realized we didn't figure out where to get his birthday cake and completely forgot. When we stopped in the bakery, we decided on two birthday cakes. When we asked the individual behind the counter if they could have this ready in time. Luckily, everything worked out as timely as it could. I called before we picked up the cakes if they could rabbit toppings (he is the year of the rabbit) and it was awesome they pulled through. Both birthday cakes were delicious and perfect standard size. Parking is available, use the parking app. Walking distance to Sunmerry Bakery is doable. All payments accepted, and you can be a rewards member too. We will always be back to Sunmerry bakery.
Been here a few times and the bakery goods are decent but nothing spectacular to note. The Hokkaido cream bun and caramel lava cake tastes like plain castella-like bread. The fluffy bagels excited me but they tasted a bit plain and like regular bread. Ive tried multiple other different unique flavored breads but they all fall a bit short. The idea of them seem good and exciting but flavor wise not the best.
Great selection of items - sweet and savory. There are croissants, buns, donuts, cakes, etc. I tried numerous items and there was not one thing I didn't like. Considering I ordered so much I ate everything over two days and still tasted pretty fresh! We tried the mango mousse and raspberry lychee cake slices. The cream in the cake is so light and not overly sweet. We didn't love the lychee in the cake. I had the red bean bun with sesame seeds. I'd get the one without the sesame seeds next time. The Ube concha was good especially if you don't want anything too sweet. The biscoff cloud donut was so light, like a cloud! I feel like this would be the perfect jelly donut so I'll have to go back and try the strawberry one. For a savory option, I had the mushroom and cheese, which seemed to have more onions than mushrooms. Everything was reasonably priced! The 6 items plus a medium iced taro milk cost about $30. I enjoyed the taro milk as well even with lowering the sweetness to 30%. I'm glad I went with iced as the employee recommended. They have numerous tables inside and outside for eating there. Parking is also convenient since the entrance is in the municipal lot.
This is my first time visiting this location. The space is clean and cozy, and the staff are nice and efficient. I got the mango lemonade at 50% level sweetness (SUPER refreshing - not too sweet, and a pop of tartness. I would love to try other lemonades in future visits). I also picked up some pastries (they have sweet pastries and savory pastries). Their cakes look delicious - always a nice option for special occasions.
What a sweet treat! My family and I were all able to enjoy their delectable treats. my son got their choco twist; which his eyes lit up the moment he took a bite. He loved the lemonade spritzer drink. I LOVED my milk tea with boba, pudding and lychee. My husband got the iced Vietnamese coffee; I took a sip and that was the real winner for the day. Our desserts were perfectly packaged for travel and delicious by the time we got home. The boba pudding was....... Heavenly smooth. Staff were very friendly. Street paid parking and they accept card. Highly recommend
This bakery has some really good pastries! The cakes are light in sweetness and texture. I like their cream puffs, they are big in size and the cream inside is good! They always run out of this cream cheese chewy pastry that I love and couldn't get a picture of. I would recommend!
One of my go to places for Asian cakes! Love love love the cakes here. They are not too sweet and lightweight and you don't feel heavy after having more than couple slices. The other bakery items like their bread, Japanese roll, etc are also so fresh. No wonder they run out of them by evening. The fresh fruit cake is amazing and it reminds me so much of fruit cake back in India. Their tiramisu is also one of the best! The prices are reasonable as well. The staff is super friendly and amazing. They give good suggestions on basis of your liking. The cafe setting is cute, spacious and welcoming! Good place to sit, chit-chat and have something. There is lot of parking available. They are much better than other chains like Paris baguette, tous le jours.
Visited earlier during Autumn fest and got their mooncakes. The taro and rainbow ones were nicely made and tasted very good. Love the colors for both as well and wished i got to try the other flavors but perhaps maybe next time. I was able to try their matcha and chocolate croissant but unfortunately they were dry and didnt taste fresh. Granted we came just close to closing time so maybe thats why the quality wasnt good anymore? Idk. I also tried the matcha cream puff and I didnt like it either. Not fresh that the powder toppings were already starting to blend in with the dough. I even questioned the freshness of the cream and didnt bother finishing it. They do have a nice outdoor space. Maybe my experience would be better if we had visited at an earlier time but I dont think I'll revisit just yet.
We stopped by for some desserts after eating at Anytime kitchen (another 5 star place) across the parking lot. The Hokkaido cream cake was AMAZING!!! If I knew, I'd buy so many boxes to go. A box comes with a pack of 4 and that's just not enough. The cake was super soft and moist and the cream was perfectly sweetened. My other favorites were the matcha cream cheese bread and mango panna cotta pudding. I'd skip on the matcha cream puffs - the puff was soggy and the cream was bland and did not have much of a matcha taste.
This is a large Taiwanese-style bakery preparing Asian-European fusion baked items plus a variety of bubble teas. I have been to a location SoCal. I did not realize there was one out here. I stumbled upon this one as I was in the area having lunch with my folks at a nearby restaurant. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There are a lot of items to choose from -- something probably for everyone. Quick and courteous service too. From a baked items perspective, I only have had the shortbread cookies (2x). Quite good. Perfectly lightly sweetened and nice buttery semi firm texture. Looking forward to visiting again. Be aware: parking is pretty difficult. It's metered parking in a lot. This lot has a lot of activity -- with the Post Office + many other businesses. Factor in some extra time and money for parking.
Hidden gem with the most beautiful and awesome Tasting confectionery.. they make the best tasting sweet and savory bakery items. The birthday and occasion cakes are the best. I always come here for the scallion buns they taste just like khara bun from Bangalore. The cakes are very very decorated and are a treat to eyes. The staff are super helpful and always give you best suggestions.. I highly recommend this bakery

Oh so yummy! I was craving a sando and their strawberry cream sando hit the spot along with everything else we had-- matcha latte, taro smoothie, taro milk tea, pork green onion bun, chicken roll, garlic bun, bolo bun (my child enjoyed I thought was ok), banana custard donut was also just ok. Service was ok, when I had asked if the matcha latte had added sugar to it the girl said it's mixed with whipped cream and then proceeded to say "I don't know". Regardless I ordered the less sweet version as it was tasty, not too sweet which is how I prefer it. Good amount of tables inside and a few outdoors but it is a pretty tight fit, indoors. Parking is paid for in the back of the shop or on the street. read more

If you're a fan of Asian (Taiwanese-style) pastries, desserts, cakes, bubble tea, and coffee, you have to check out Sunmerry! It's an international bakery/cafe chain that was founded in Taiwan. They offer a large variety of savory and sweet baked goods. Everything is baked fresh daily AND reasonably priced! This location is right near the heart of Fort Lee's bustling main street. Parking is available through metered streets, lots, and a garage. It's not a large bakery, so it can feel crowded during peak hours. Weekends are very busy. There's a few tables inside as well as outdoor seating. Wifi available. I was pretty impressed by the variety of pastries they had - egg tarts, bolo buns, cream puffs, breads, donuts, croissants, and gorgeous cakes! They also have seasonal items for holidays like the Mid-Autumn Festival and Halloween. Their pastries aren't intensely sweet - instead, they focus on creating a delicate balance between sweetness and other flavors. It's self-service, so you get a tray and choose which ones you want. You can pair your sweet treat with one of their many delicious bubble teas or espresso drinks. The employees are friendly and quick. This is a very busy spot, but they're able to provide efficient service while still being warm and welcoming. Here's what I've tried: *Honey Shaken Latte ~$7 - I can't stop thinking about this drink!!! Honey and espresso combined together tastes AMAZING. The espresso was smooth and rich. The honey added just the right amount of subtle sweetness. 10/10 need to order again! *Matcha Cream Cheese Puff ~$2.80 - The texture was super airy and fluffy! The matcha flavor wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be. I expected a lot of cream cheese filling, but the inside of the puff was mostly hollow... with little filling :( It was still tasty regardless, just not what I expected. *Classic Milk Tea with boba ~$7 - I asked for no sugar and the barista nailed it! The drink had the right milk to tea ratio. I was able to taste the bold flavor of the black tea, which was balanced with the creaminess of the milk. My only complaint is that the boba was too soft/mushy... I couldn't chew them :/ *Bolo Bun $2.10 - A light, buttery flavor with very mild sweetness. The outer crust was slightly caramelized and toasted, while the inside of the bun was light and tender. *Coffee Croissant $3.75 - This probably would've tasted better if I warmed it up, but I still enjoyed it regardless. Bread was nice and soft with subtle hints of coffee in every bite. I am 10000% returning to try more pastries and drinks! read more

THIS IS MY FAVORITE BAKERY. I went around 3pm - this bakery has different varieties every day. I love their savory breads - also their new tiger drinks were so good! I was worried I didn't mention less ice - but the flavor was packed in every sip omgness. This is my go to for my brown sugar bobas now. Tiger milk - 5/5 absolutely amazing Spicy hawaiin - 5/5 I normally don't find these in spicy versions elsewhere Tuna 4/5 could use more spice lol but that's just me Scallion 4/5 Egg tarts 5/5 never go wrong with egg tarts Croissants 5/5 di-vine Parking is metered. Entrance is in the back. Limited seating indoors but there are more seating outdoors. read more

This place is an absolute gem. First of all, I did not know this place existed and learned about it from a YelpElite event. It is adorable, part bakery, part cafe. As someone who has lived in both Japan and Taiwan and often misses baked goods from the local bakeries there, this was the perfect place for me to visit. They have a wide variety of pastries. On this visit, I tried the matcha croissant which was light, flavorful, and delicious. I also got the Tiger Coffee with Bubbles which I cannot recommend enough. I substituted regular milk for almond milk. I would come back just for the Tiger Coffee, I cannot recommend it enough. This is the perfect place to catch up with a close friend or meet a colleague for coffee. I would definitely come back here to work remotely or read a book and relax. The atmosphere is perfect. It is sunny and there are about 7 tables. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a very large party, at most 4-5. I will definitely come back and try other items. Service was excellent. The person assisting me recommended the Tiger Coffee and asked to make sure it was good, and it was excellent. Very impressed. read more

One of the better Asian bakery. Asian like their pastry not too sweet and light and this bakery does exactly that. This is our second visit to the bakery. First time we got a mango cake for a birthday party which was a big hit. This time we got some buns from the sales section which were from the day before. We ate them the day after and they were still pretty good. They have such a big variety of baked goods I feel like I'll never able to try everything. Service was great and there are several tables inside for a drink and baked goods. read more
Sunmerry is a well established Taiwanese bakery that has locations in Taiwan and the US (CA, NY, and NJ). This is the newer location (the original Fort Lee location eventually closed) and it is filled with light as it faces the South. The bread selection is more classic than its Taiwan counterpart. There are also more savory options and in general less butter (think light fluffy bun vs flaky items) than the nearby Paris Baguette. It's so good when it's fresh. You can place pickup orders on Toast. My favorites: - Black Forest cake (it's not too sweet and light) - Green onion bun (must like scallions) - Big coconut (must like coconut) Taro-lovers, I was going through a taro phase a while back. There is a taro pudding cake. The pudding is part of a layer and more gelatinous and custard-tasting than expected and didn't really meld with the taro. I've also never seen this sold as a slice. If you really like taro, I would recommend going for the taro milk cake, which is a packaged rectangular, refrigerated cake. Parking: there is free parking at the basement level. There is also a huge paid lot just south of the building. Covid: I love how all the buns are individually packaged. Very hygienic! read more

This is probably the only Taiwanese bakery here in the area. And I personally love it! I've been coming here for years and the prices have definitely gotten steeper but still cheaper than most of the very overpriced Korean bakeries in the area. The location on center ave I have to admit is really annoying there's no street parking that is technically free and the GPS on google always leads you to the other side of the building. You have to go to the fort Lee municipal parking lot side and park in the lot outside there. I always run in and grab what I need without paying for the spot but technically you are suppose to pay for parking. Definitely liked their leonine ave location better. I do appreciate that they keep trying new pastries every once in a while. My favorites are the cookie dough (which is essentially the classic pineapple bun), the green tea croissant, and the danish doughnut. The Portuguese tarts are also very solid. And their cakes Tastes great! My favorite cake is the strawberry cream. I always grab pastries as gifts for coworkers and they also love them too! They have plenty of seats outside if you want to eat your pastries there. They also provide gloves for you to put on before grabbing a tray to put your pastries on. read more

We visited their location in Flushing before and the experience was not good. However, we were craving for Taiwanese pastries, especially any style with pork floss, so we decided to give Sunmerry Bakery another chance. This location was much better than the one in Flushing regarding to service and the freshness of products. The variety wasn't the best due to the pandemic which was understandable but was still pretty decent. We got a loaf of toast, 2 egg tarts, one green tea almond croissant and my favorite cake roll with pork floss. Overall their pastries were delicious but the price was higher than Hong Kong style bakeries. read more
I used to come to Sunmerry in Fort Lee a lot at their old location as a kid. I was really sad when it closed. I think I've been in and out of this new location once before but it was nice to sit down and appreciate it by myself. It's smaller than the previous. The staff greeted me politely. There weren't too many people at 10 am but within the hour many people trickled in, taking a seat to chat for a bit or to do work. I definitely get chill vibes from this place and the natural lighting is great. I love how there's also plenty of outdoor seating. When I arrived I noticed they have a bin for "yesterday's bread" for a buy two get one free deal. Unfortunately that would be too much for me, though I'll note that it included some pineapple buns and sugar twists. I went for a chocolate twist which went down great with a coffee. My black sesame cafe latte only came in a large which was probably more than I needed. It was prepared very quickly. I usually really like black sesame. It was a more bitter coffee than expected but not enough that I wanted to put more sugar in. I realized it had heavy cream in it which I generally really dislike. I'd probably go for a different drink next time. Either way it was a nice morning snack. read more

The original location across from the Fort Lee High School was closed and this one opened sometime last year. Glad to have a (Taiwanese) bakery in the hood in addition to the abundance of Korean bakeries. Glad items were fully stocked this time compared to when it was first opened. I was excited to see new items added! Couldn't believe it had the shredded pork bun which is one of my favorites from any Chinese bakery. Loved its wide range of goodies so decision to choose was not easy. Opted for the matcha oreo chiffon which was highly recommended by the friendly staff. Nutella bun and coffee brioche are my all-time favorites. Glad to see different flavors of cream puffs and we got the big cream puff to try. So many options just means that we will have to come back! Would love to try those cakes too for special birthday celebrations. Ample paid (meter) parking in the area. There were outdoor seatings under a large tent and a few tables inside. This is a more convenient location especially if you plan to have dim sum at Aquarius across the street or Pho at Saigon Kitchen next door or dine at any other restaurants in the area. Welcome to Fort Lee and thanks for supporting the local business especially during the pandemic. read more

Probably the best bakery in Fort Lee, NJ area. The breads and pastries are good! Location: It is located in Fort Lee. Huge parking so its convenient! The interior is okay, great display of breads that you can just pick on! Service: pay and go, not that much interaction. Food: The breads are delicious, fluffy and still good after few days. CAKES: they have themed cakes which I like, everything is delicious and cakes are light. MATCHA CROISSANT: I don't have a picture tho but this is good! You can taste the matcha well! BOBA TARTS: actually it is not bad, the boba were topped on a eggy tea infused cream filling. I wouldn't order it again to be honest. Lol Price rating: 6/10, not that bad for goodies. Definitely will come back for more! Been here multiple times! The cakes were amazing! Light and fluffy! read more
