My family and I were in the mood for a little dessert after dinner (as we often are), and we saw this place nearby and wanted to check it out. So yummy - if you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you. We got a speculoos waffle and pistachio chocolate crepe to share and we ate up every bite. I personally loved the speculoos waffle more (they may call it something else besides speculoos but I can't recall at the moment), but I'm a big fan of cookie butter. The place is a little small and my family thought we might have to wait, but it was actually really easy and quick to get a table. The food comes out quickly and then you end up wolfing it down. Gotta love a dessert place that's open until midnight! I stopped by Leyra Chocolate around 10:30 pm on a weekend and it was busy and bustling. The two young gentlemen were working very hard fulfilling both online and in-person orders. They specialize in dessert crepes and waffles, but also offer chocolate-covered fruit skewers, milkshakes, sundaes, and vegan kofteh. Prices are steep, but I'd only get this as a treat once in awhile. I ordered the Lotus Crepe (~$13) which came with Lotus Butter, Lotus cookie crumbs, and milk and white Belgian chocolate. It took around 15 minutes, but I wasn't in any rush. The crepe didn't last very long once I took my first bite... The presentation was 10/10 and it tasted just as good. The cookie crumbs really elevated the sweet flavors. I wish the prices weren't so high because I would come more often. I think $13 for a crepe, especially since there wasn't even any fruit or many toppings inside of it, is high. read more

Store is clean and bright. Workers were polite and talented at making the desserts. We went with pistachio crepe and the peanut butter waffle. Pistachio crepe was our favorite, it was decadent and filled with chocolate goodness! The ice cream didn't hurt either. This is a place that serves delicious waffles in my opinion their Dubai chocolate one is my favorite because the chocolate tastes good. But I do have some things to say about the service the guy working there was awesome he's a real good at making the waffles. I used to love this place during the winter but idk, the staff lately is rude. It completely different from when I first discover this place and especially came here for their hot chocolate which they magically took it off their menu pretty much within three days. Even when I asked about the hot chocolate the response from the staff was so discerning considering this was our late night sweet spot. read more

I used to love this place back when it was Nefista! Thankfully they still do the cig kofteh and I highly recommend getting the spicy ones. Definitely get the pomegranate sauce, and add onions and walnuts to your wrap - and thank me later! In terms of the chocolate, we've only tried the lotus waffle, but holy moly. It is. So. Good. The layers of chocolate plus the crunch of the lotus root sprinkles... heaven! We've gone back for it - the second time we went, they didn't have dark chocolate (we usually sub the white choc for dark instead). I hope that was just a one time thing and that they have dark chocolate available generally. The service has always been great. It's a small spot so keep that in mind. I've had a similar one at the nutella cafe and other places never came close to that signature taste and quality. LeyRa definitely comes close and I'll be coming back often. Come here for their bulgur wheat kofta! It's vegan and bursting with flavor. You can build your own lettuce wraps with them, which makes the experience even more entertaining. I've been a huge fan of chocolate dipped waffles and am so glad this place opened up! I used to go to Chocolate Dip but their primary demographic was young middle schoolers who kept trashing the place and I remember the establishment blatantly disregarded Covid restrictions when covid was still at its peak. Leyra Chocolate has a much cleaner seating area with all the photo ops including a flower wall and a Willy Wonka inspired mural. My only qualm is that they don't have a clear sign out front so I kept walking past it. They have milk, white, and dark Belgian chocolate that taste heavenly. I got a milk chocolate waffle stick for $6 and it came with a cup of vanilla ice cream to my delightful surprise! It was the best waffle I've ever had! So crispy and fluffy that I had to stop for a second from the shock of how good it was! I also got the pistachio crepe roll that came with brownies, strawberries and a cup of vanilla ice cream for $13 I think. It's definitely a show stopper. Crepes aren't my favorite in general but this one was rolled really nicely and tasted great. You definitely get your money's worth. This is easily my favorite dessert spot of all those I have encountered in New York City. They do dessert and they do it well. My boyfriend and I shared the strawberry crêpe and the Oreo waffle. The Belgian chocolate topping on both desserts was absolutely delicious. Each dessert item had a very substantial portion of whatever the filling or flavor was supposed to be. There's a lot of dessert spots on macdougal but this one was fairly new so I decided to try it out. Oh man it was so good! The waffle stick was drenched in Belgium chocolate and I asked for crushed pistachios on top for an additional 50 cents. Wait until the waffle isn't so hot so it's secure on the stick and doesn't swivel around.
