    Lotus au Espresso
    Benedict C.

I visited Cafe de Lyon with my girlfriend to grab some coffee and a quick bite before an appointment in the area. They're situated on the corner of Broad and Fort Lee Road so it's a pretty busy area. I believe it's street parking which can get annoying. The place feels very cozy and I felt it as soon as I walked in. It feels like a nice place to sit and read a book. Ordering is done via kiosk at the entrance, but I believe you can also be helped out by the staff behind the counter. I had a hot, black drip coffee with a shot of espresso while my girlfriend got the Lotus au Espresso. We also shared a butter scone and bacon, cheddar, and scallion scone. Everything was prepared quickly. I really enjoyed the coffee. I believe the description said the house brew was bright and fruity and it really tasted like it. I'm no coffee expert but I was surprised I could taste the notes so we'll. Their espresso was nice and strong too. The scones were buttery and delicious. I'd love to come back to try their other food offerings. Their cookies looked amazing too

I really like this spot due to their fresh baked goods. Their scone is insanely good. They warm it up and top it with jam and butter. The scone itself is slightly sweet with a crispy buttery outside and moist inside. Its not dry and cooked to perfection. It's a must try! Their coffee is also super smooth and great paired with any of their sweet treats. They also serve cookies but they don't jump out to me as anything special. I would highly recommend one of their cake or cheesecake slices or scones!

Another coffee shop in Leonia! I gave their cookies and coffee a try. Cookies are $5.25. I tried the double chocolate chip and real peanut butter cookie. Their size is comparable to a Levain so a decent size! The double chocolate chip was not as rich as a I would've expected; I was underwhelmed. The peanut butter is different with actual peanuts. I drank an Iced single origin house brew $3.75. Forgot to add sweetener so it was okay but did remind me of a Starbucks iced coffee, which I like.

The cutest little coffee shop! I ordered a delicious apple pie latte and it was perfectly cinnamon and delicious without being overly sweet! I tasted the apple and caramel flavor. It's very bright and lots of little tables and a nice corner couch that I got to sit in while enjoying my drinks and delicious scone with butter and jam! Service was wonderful! The guy helped me order and the drinks and food were ready right away! I loved the piano music playing in the background. 10 out of 10

I got my usual matcha soft serve on a cone and it came in a huge swirl on a waffle cone. The ice cream had a strong matcha flavor and was creamy and fluffy. I will say I had this at 9:30 pm and couldn't sleep due to the strength of the matcha but that goes to show that they really put a good amount! A great place to have some quick dessert in Fort Lee!

It turned out the red bean was spoiled, so I had to go back and ask them to remake the drink without it. This time, on 12/27 around 5:30 PM, I ordered a hojicha latte. After placing my order, I noticed there was a free size upgrade promotion running throughout December, so I asked if my drink could be upgraded. The staff member said no, explaining that it had to be done while ordering for the promotion to apply. That excuse felt very lame and honestly came across as laziness, especially since it was a free upgrade and could have easily been accommodated. At another Maiko location (Garden State Plaza), the staff proactively informed me about the promotion and asked if I wanted the upgrade, which is what I would expect. Unfortunately, the Fort Lee location didn't offer the same experience. Even after I asked, it felt like I was given weak excuses rather than a genuine effort to help. On top of that, the hojicha latte here was overly milky. I've had the same drink at other Maiko locations where it tasted much nuttier and more balanced, so this was disappointing. I really love Maiko overall, but based on these experiences, I wouldn't visit the Fort Lee location again.

Whether you're with kids, on a family outing, hanging out with friends, or just looking to recharge solo, this spot is perfect for any occasion. The food is great, made fresh right before your eyes, and the prices are very reasonable. For my part, I had my beloved hazelnut latte, while my husband went for a classic, straight coffee. The kid opted for cold brew and a matcha bingsoo. If you've never had bingsoo, you're in for a treat! The presentation alone is a work of art, featuring a fish-shaped serving of matcha-filled ice cream, topped with matcha ice cream, red beans, mochi, nuts, and light, fluffy ice shavings. One word: sublime! The staff is friendly and great at making recommendations. They also know how to brew a perfect cup of coffee: strong, just the way we like it. The space is well-maintained, and parking is metered, so keep that in mind.

Grabby toy machines located near the community table. We ordered several coffees, one black (me), one with cream and sugar and a cold brew. Their coffee is good! And we ordered a Green Tea Match Bingsu and got a massive bowl of shaved ice milk infused with mochi, a huge dollop of sweet red bean, surrounded by almond slivers and top with Bungeoppang (Taiyaki), a Korean fish shaped pastry that was split opened, smeared with sweet red bean and filled with green tea ice cream. Was it good? If you like your deserts on the sweeter side, yes it was. The shaved ice milk is richer than others I've had. The red bean paste is richer and very sweet. The mochi that is infused into the shaved ice adds texture as well as additional sweetness. The green tea ice cream is well, greet tea ice cream. And the Bungeoppang elevates higher. Is it my jam? Maybe not. A spoonful or too was enough. For what it is, amazing. I hear they have a mean Mango Bingsu that's seasonal, so yeah I'll be back!

Truly one of The Best in NJ. It is now a Korean Bakery shop \cafe and still makes very good products, but if you remember the "old PPB" it is not the same at all. Located on the main business district, there is street parking. I stopped in one evening to grab some items to go. The person working the counter was nice enough. They now have cafe\brunch items so it's not just a bakery anymore. Very little Italian pastries anymore; more generic cakes, donuts, cookies, etc are the norm now. Of course Korean specialties too. Their rice donuts were amazing. For many years, local bakeries in the area made a Bavarian creme filled pecan danish ring with streusel sugar drizzled on top. PPB still does and it is Amazing! The good thing now is that they have a broader selection of Korean style pastries, along with meal menu. I have had their pizza, salad, and pasta: they are very good - just tad bit pricey. This morning brunch was something more surprising. We had omelette ($18.99) and Eggs Royale with smoked salmon ($21.99), and they come with coffee included. The omelette was filled with veggies and the eggs royal benedict was perfectly poached. Great to sit quietly for brunch on a weekday.

While the menu is more expansive towards coffees, and drinks, accompanied by the usual suspects of desserts, they have two unusual items that drew my attention. First is the CROFFLE: Short for Croissant-Waffle. I didn't think anything of it but I was forced to buy it because they ran out of regular croissants. I was reluctant but she convinced me to try it! I don't get easily surprised but this homemade pastry is TO DIE FOR! It literally tastes like a croissant because it is made out of croissant dough but cooked like a waffle. This gives the crunchy effect of a waffle on the outside combined with a chewy inside that is made to order in a few minutes! You have a selection of eight sweet and three savory flavors to choose from but I like the plain with butter and may be some preserves, just like a warm flaky croissant. The second is the taiyaki in Japanese or boong-uh-bbang in Korean literally means goldfish bread because it is made in the shape of a large goldfish. It is filled with one of three flavors: Red bean, vanilla custard or Nutella. It takes about 12-minutes to make but they are really good too. The ambience is quaint, warm charming and somewhat nostalgic! Everything is clean and tidy too! The service is good and prompt. It is a little expensive, especially the goldfish bread ($4/piece; minimum of 4/order, so $16), but well worth the flavor explosion! This mini-cafe/desert place is a jewel and a find among the industrial giants that punch out the same -old, same-old and I recommend it highly, especially for the "Croffle" and the "Goldfish Bread!"
