Another Cafe in Pali Park among the many. Even with the big windows, the inside is a bit dark. Limited seating, wood tables and chairs. A longish community table with bench. Grabby toy machines located near the community table. We ordered several coffees, one black (me), one with cream and sugar and a cold brew. Their coffee is good! And we ordered a Green Tea Match Bingsu and got a massive bowl of shaved ice milk infused with mochi, a huge dollop of sweet red bean, surrounded by almond slivers and top with Bungeoppang (Taiyaki), a Korean fish shaped pastry that was split opened, smeared with sweet red bean and filled with green tea ice cream. Was it good? If you like your deserts on the sweeter side, yes it was. The shaved ice milk is richer than others I've had. The red bean paste is richer and very sweet. The mochi that is infused into the shaved ice adds texture as well as additional sweetness. The green tea ice cream is well, greet tea ice cream. And the Bungeoppang elevates higher. Is it my jam? I came here with a friend after a massage around the corner, and it was the best afternoon pick me up, post massage treat. There are a lot of bingsoo places around the area and I actually overlook café oak all the time, probably because it's very small compared to the other cafés that are more flashy. Now upon entering you see a few claw machines, some rice punch slushy machines that are not turned on yet (maybe it was too early?) two girls in the back and some Korean older ladies gossiping away, who are customers. There are definitely seats available and the menu is pretty straightforward with some baked goods and some Kimbap to purchase. Ambiance is very chill and casual. My friend and I share the mango bingsoo which was so delicious. It had condensed milk, fresh soft Manila mangoes, soft shaved ice, mochi in a center and some lychee jellies on the bottom. Towards the end of the shaved ice, it was a little too sweet due to all the melted condensed milk, mango drizzle, and lychee jelly on the bottom however, from the top to the center it was perfection. Super yummy spot for dessert! I've tried the injeolmi waffle and matcha bingsu here. Both were so delicious and filling. This will definitely be one of my go to dessert spots in the area. The matcha bingsu was delicious and the presentation was so cute with the fish ice cream. It also had mochi and nuts throughout. At first, I was a bit skeptical of the nuts but it added a nice texture contrast and I really liked it inside the bingsu. I shared it with 2 other people and it was definitely a good portion size for us. Loved the matcha bingsu and am excited to come back to try the other flavors!! The medium sized injeolmi waffle came with 2 waffles and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side. It also came with some strawberry slices. My partner and I took my nephew and nieces here for bubble tea. Each of us ordered different flavors. My nephew ordered lemonade since he's not a fan of bubble tea. The staff was friendly. She answered all our questions and was patient with us. There were seatings so we were able to sit and wait for our order. Now the reason for two less star. Too much sugar. We all agreed our bubble teas were way too sweet. Even the lemonade had too much sugar. I got taro and I was too overwhelmed with the sugar to even enjoy it. I would recommend informing them how sweet you want your bubble tea. Another interesting thing was my taro bubble tea had a slushy consistency. It was creamy. Not actual milk tea. Cafe Oak is by far, one of my favorite cafe's in Palisades Park. They're honest with their food and their service is great! Ambiance is also really warm, intimate and charming (reminds me of Korea in many ways). Oh my gosh how my heart is happy!!! Im in love with this place! Bubble tea, waffles, bingsoo yeesss!! And everything looks so delicious! I've been wanting to eat ube or taro especially since i got back from the philippines and having to try their taro bingsoo here is like hitting the lottery! My tastebuds and tummy may have done a back flip in joy lol seriously though, they really offer a good variety of desserts and portions are generous that you can share them. There were a lot of seating available and the music wasn't horrible, although it did switch from Korean to American and back to Korean very randomly. The menu choices were abundant and they had unique bingsoo choices than the other cafes in PalPark. My group chose the matcha bingsoo. It came out fairly quickly (within 5-10 minutes) with a beautiful presentation. However, after taking a few bites each, we stopped because it just tasted like ice after we ate all of the topping with the first half (and that's after we mixed the toppings into the ice...we didn't just scrap off the toppings). Small place located in broad avenue. For the past 10~15 times I came here on weekend, it was always pretty empty (on weekends too). I like their warm and quiet ambiance. What a lovely new cafe. I came across this place after dinner and was excited to try to bingsu. So glad my friend and I stopped in because we've discovered a new chill spot. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing and management was so nice and friendly. The manager showed us picture of the items on the menu since we couldn't imagine what it would like and especially since we aren't Korean lol. He convinced us to try the mango bingsu and the sea salt coffee. Here is my break down of my overall experience 5/5 for management Its nice to walk into a place where you feel welcomed and where management acknowledges your presence. Oh and the manager took such good care of us that he even gave us a free tumbler for the grand opening special even though the special wasn't starting until the next day. You can never turn down anything free! 5/5 mango bingsu The shaved ice isn't you normal bingsu shaved ice. It actually had mango flavored ice which was pleasant and refreshing. The manager was kind enough to allow us to even pick our own fresh mango for the side. Based on the coffee alone - this was average, maybe even below average. The green tea latte was a bit too sweet while the vanilla latte had zero vanilla flavor. Unfortunately I was already on my way home when I tasted the vanilla latte or else I would've asked the barista to fix it. He even confirmed the drinks with me before I left, so it didn't seem like a misorder to me. While the drinks didn't taste bad (luckily I like regular unflavored lattes too!), I was definitely expecting more. This is one of my favorite places to come study, eat, hangout with friends, and enjoy bubble tea! I came here pretty often during my college semester. This place has a comfortable atmosphere and doesn't get too crowded. Therefore, it makes it a great place to study. I would spend hours and I mean it. I would come here on Mondays and Wednesdays to study. On Mondays I stayed from 10AM to 4PM. The staff here are so nice and they have never kicked me out for staying so long. Although the cafe is in a largely Korean town, I still feel welcomed coming in here. I would definitely recommend the beef panini here! If you love bulgogi, you'll love it in a panini form. The bulgogi tastes great and the cheese on it pairs with it nicely. I would also recommend the pupu bread which I thought was extremely funny since it is a poop shaped bread with Nutella, but don't be deterred by the name as it tastes amazing! One time, I ordered 6 of them! That's how amazing it is to me. The bubble tea also tastes great here. The tapioca pearls are cooked perfectly. I have never disliked any of the bubble tea I have ordered from here. I have also tried the waffles from here which also has an interesting taste. It sort of tastes like a Belgian waffle, but not. It's hard for me to explain. It tastes great though. However, I've gotten the bubble waffle which I thought was alright. The bubble waffle was a bunch of tiny balls of waffles on a plate drizzled with chocolate. I assumed it would look like the "Eggloo" bubble waffle where it's formed all into one waffle. It's not too bad though, but didn't satisfy me. Besides that, there are plenty of other items on the vast menu. There's also some quick grab & go items on the counter and in front of it. I came here with my sister before heading back down to school because I live in the town next to Palisades Park. We both wanted to try the bubble tea inside the famous (or infamous) lightbulb cup because we are both suckers for cool foods and desserts. I ordered the strawberry bubble tea and my sister, the taro, and we both got it in the lightbulb container. There is an extra charge to get your bubble tea in the lightbulb cup but you do get to take it home and was worth it for the picture. The bubble tea is nothing special but was decent and not too sweet, just the way I like it. We came here more for the pictures (which took us forever to get ones we both liked), so that counts as a win in my books.
