I am leaving this review as a prior fan of this bakery. For the price point of three dollars for a pastry labeled as a mochi taro, from a premium style bakery, you would expect for this to have filling of taro. When I bit into this, I was severely disappointed there was barely any taro on the inside of this mochi. What is worse is that it didn't taste like mochi at all, but just a flour pastry, false advertising on both fronts. It doesn't have any texture of mochi or mochi doughnut. I purchased another pastry with a similar lackluster filling in terms of the amount that was provided. I had ordered a snoopy cake fruit cake with whip cream during the holidays last year. The woman who is black- its not racist this is who was ringing me up, rang it up as a black forest cake. If I did not check my receipt or see the manager of the store pack it and tell her that's not what I ordered I would have brought a black forest cake home and no one would eat it. The second time I ordered two egg tarts that come two in a package. That same black lady who took my order only gave one. This is twice in a row you still keep this person who keeps screwing up. I really had it and told the manager why you keep this one around this is the second time she screwed my order. Ok so I have only tried the taro red bean bread, the hotdog bun, and the black tea with salted cream so I can't say with confidence that everything is going to be amazing, but so far I am very pleased with what I've tried! The store apparently originated in Japan and then opened in Taiwan and now it is also in America - all of these moves...great signs for a great time. First off the black tea was very fragrant, tastes like good quality tea, and is not bitter. The salted cheese foam is the correct amount of thickness (very thick) with a good mix of sweet and salty and cheesiness to it. Their version is a little different than the traditional cheese foam I've had in Taiwan, but I have no complaints abt their twist bc it tastes closer to a cheesecake flavour and I love cheesecake. Absolutely recommend this drink. The taro red bean bread is good, but not too special. Their hot dog bun though is very delicious. I tried the tiger milk tea with boba and my goodness was it absolutely delicious! I've been to many boba places but this one definitely was one of the best. I chose green tea croissant, coffee brioche, regular brioche, coconut roll, rainbow roll and apple danish I have had many brioche bread but this was so fluffy and soft I wanted to just keep eating it . I never had a rainbow roll like this before it was again so fluffy and soft like it just melted in my mouth. I will definitely be back for another of these !! We also picked some pastries, a donut and a piece of cake. I generally liked everything except for the cake. Spongy and the cream icing was not to my taste. My girls unfortunately would not eat any of it. They did not care for the mochi donuts nor would they drink the bubble teas. Generally they love other Korean pastries and bubble tea. We got the strawberry tea with cheese foam, tiramisu puff and strawberry panna cotta. Strawberry chunks in the tea were nice but the tea itself just tasted like tea with simple syrup. The tiramisu puff had NO tiramisu flavor to it whatsoever. The strawberry panna cotta was not overly sweet but didnt stand out to me. This place is my go-to for good pastries and drinks in the area. I like their milk tea, which has a good tea flavor and doesn't taste watered down like other places I've had before. Updating my review for the cakes. I was looking for a birthday cake and haven't been too happy lately with the ones from Paris Baguette, where we used to get a lot of cakes from. I decided to go with Sunmerry and found a mango mousse cake from their website. I called in the order and the process was very easy. You need to give them a couple of days advance notice. The cake was delicious! It was really moist, full of mango flavor, and had good texture. It was half sponge cake, half mousse. The mousse was light and fluffy and was bursting with mango flavor. I'll be getting more cakes form here in the future. There aren't too many good places around. So glad Sunmerry is here! read more

Sheer satisfaction in everything I experienced from the easy location to find (2 doors down from 99Ranch), easy signage (semi bi-lingual for nonstudious Chinese school students like me), clear nutritional descriptors (including allergens), loving descriptions, Clover-based checkout (nice easy processing with everything-supporting card reader), and friendly cheery service famously associated with Sunmerry. I heard a lot of great things about Sunmerry Bakery, so when passing it on my way into work one day, I decided to stop in. I really like the concept of picking your own baked goods and bringing them up to the counter to pay. It gives you a chance to look at the selection as long as you want without feeling pressured to make a decision. Everything is in a plastic container with a lid that lifts up and slides back so that you don't have to keep an awkward position in order to remove the baked good of choice, both of your hands are free to hold the tongs and tray. They also have an assortment of cakes behind the counter that look very good. I ordered a few different pastries for us to try at the office, and a pineapple green tea. The girl who was making my drink asked how I would like it sweetened and because I wasn't sure what to expect I told her to do it the way they usually do. The green tea ended up being too sweet for me, so If you don't like your beverage to be very sweet, make sure you vocalize that. I don't hold this against them because they asked me when I ordered it and when they were preparing it how I would prefer it to be made. The pastries were delicious, among the pastries I bought, my co worker and I both really loved the Mango Cheese Tart. It tasted like a mango lassi in tart form - delicious! The custard tart was also very good, and a close second favorite. The scallion bun smelled better than it tasted in my opinion, the texture was nice but there was something missing from the flavor and it was room temperature, so I heated it up in our toaster because I think that kind of savory pastry tastes better that way. Overall I had a great experience, I like the way the bakery is set up and everyone working there was very friendly. 5/5 read more

I first came to the bakery as part of a Yelp elite event and I was able to try a handful of their goodies. Everything I had was delicious and I even got a few of the rolled cake samples which were easily cut in half to serve two people as my wife and I split most of the things. Their teas seem very fresh and it looks as if they pour the tea from containers that are kept warm instead of making the tea from powdered mixes which I've always heard means it's a better quality tea. But I don't actually know if that is true or not. When I first came here I had their dalgona tea and the second time I came back I tried their taro tea. Both were really good and I had boba added to the tarot tea which I really like. They seem to have a great selection of baked goods, however if you get there towards the end of the day they do sell out of things. So if you were looking for something specific definitely try to get there as early as you can. As for the staff, I've interacted with several people there and they have all been super friendly. Saw this place right next to Le Peep and decided to walk over for some baked goods after lunch. It was pretty busy and packed! The tables and benches were occupied, and in the middle of the store was a line getting longer and longer. On the other side of the store, you can pick up a tray and choose baked goods on your own before going in line! It looked like there were many regulars because they walked in and grabbed what they needed in minutes. I randomly picked up the garlic parsley bread and red bean bread! Overall, the bread texture was a bit chewy for my liking but tasty nonetheless. Maybe not my style, but my friend who loves this soft texture was raving on how this was one of the best bakeries she'd ever been to!! Clean Taiwanese bakery with a treats for a little something for everyone. Definitely come here during the weekdays for a calmer experience. The atmosphere is super chill with many people coming in to purchase baked goods to bring to work or home. I saw several patrons seated and plugged in, working on their laptops. Music fills the air but it's not loud that it's hard to have any conversation. They have at least 5 tables and benches against the wall and several round tables in front those tables. Two to three high tables are by the window. Several outlets allow patrons to plug in and do some work. This bakery has savory treats, sweet treats, treats that are light and airy, treats that are more dense. They have pineapple cakes, hot or iced coffees, espresso, lattes, capaccinos, bubble teas, and the list goes on. Personally, I do enjoy their cakes. They have both individual and whole cakes for sale. If you purchase an entire cake, they will include an edible chocolate birthday or anniversary card along with candles and a plastic pie server. Service is quick and efficient. Upon paying, they will ask you if you are signed up on their loyalty program. If you are, you just give them your phone number and it will automatically give you a discount of x items that are on sale for that week. If you are not a participating member, no worries because you can sign up literally within a few minutes and you are on your way to rewards. They honor both Android Pay and Apple Pay. But you are now reading this and still asking me: "but is it worth the price?" Somethings yes and somethings no to be fair. All their beverages are very competitive and yes, it's definitely worth the money. All the beverages I had here have all been stellar. Same goes for all their cakes. They have plenty of different varieties but my favorite one is the mushroom bread. One because it is nice and long and it is covered in tasty mushrooms with cheese on top of it. Plenty of calories but the mixture of this is so tasty! Came here in the morning and bought a few different styles to try. Overall I was pretty happy with the selection. But what was weird is some breads weren't ready yet when we got to the location. But by the time we finished there was a lady that brought the fresh bread and started putting them in the boxes. Sunmerry has a great variety of breads and pastries at a fair price. I fell in love with the green tea cream puff. Other bakeries have disappointed me where it's mostly bread and not enough cream, but Sunmerry surprised me with the amount of cream inside! (see attached photos.) I've been craving a Portuguese egg tart while in the area and they happened to have it and a mango cheese tart as well. If you love mango, I suggest trying this tart! I'm already missing these delicious treats. To make this place even better, they also offer Happy Lemon bubble tea. I tried the strawberry green tea with lychee jelly and they really do not skimp on the fruits. It seems like they have certain specials like a certain percentage off specific pastries. I have been coming to this location since they opened and now I will finally write my review. The staff here is friendly but they need to be a little more outgoing and smile as well. They have some bakery goods such as bread and some cakes as well. You can also sign up for their loyalty program and you get a discount on your orders when you accrued enough points. Lemon Special Cooler: It is kind of like a slushy lemonade type of a drink. It is not really for me but my sister loves this drink a lot. Fresh Lemon Green Tea: This drink has a lemon taste and a hint of green tea in it. This is very delicious and is really refreshing on a hot Summer day. Strawberry Green Tea: My brother said this is a unique type of a drink. He has never tasted anything like this and would recommend it to others. It has a strawberry taste since it has the strawberry pieces inside of the drink itself. It has a little taste of the green tea but he did not mind that at all. Mango Green Tea: It does not have a lot of mango taste in it and definitely has the green tea taste. It does not meet my expectations of a mango green tea because I like it really really sweet. Kumquat Lemon Green Tea: My daughters love this drink and says that it is really refreshing. They are kind of addicted to this drink because it is just that good. It has the kumquat lemon taste which is way better than Mr. Wish. Passion Fruit Green Tea: This definitely hits the spot when I get this drink. It has the passion fruit taste but not like other bubble tea shops. It has a hint of the green tea flavor as well. The only thing I don't like about this drink is that on the bottom of the cup it has black spots. I do not know if it is from the tea leaves itself or if the ice has mold or something. It's very light and delicate so you won't feel as bad eating these treats.
