This place wowed me.
Or rather I should say the food and the service wowed me.
I came in on my mom's birthday (with my bday just days away). We had the choice to sit at a small counter area/ sushi bar or inside at a table next to the window. We opted for the view. The inside isn't interiored designed and kind of lacks a style, but with a wall that is just a window overlooking the pool and beautiful grounds, and another that is a pictoral display of the location's long history, I was entertained. It's nice to be able to go inside on a hot day (in your swimsuit) and feel like you are outdoors.
The server knew we were celebrating our birthdays and that we had a massage to get to, so I started to become a little irked when it took a while for an order of salmon sashimi to come out. But, when it did, I was soooo happy. Not only were the portions huge (perfect light meal for a spa day and yet large enough portions to be filling), and omg so fresh and delicious, but they had written Happy Birthday on each plate in sauce and decorated the plates with edible flowers. The presentation was spot on. See photos. Then later, she brought out a large slice of chocolate cake with a candle in it and sang Happy Birthday. Aww! It was a wonderful memory within a wonderful day spent at Glen Ivy Spa.
Will absolutely come again and order the same thing. $16 for sushi, but worth it. Plus, the staff were really nice and friendly. read more
