We recently moved here and this is our second time coming here! :D Less stars because the male server has a rude attitude (we've been here before, so this was my second observation ). Next, they close 30 minutes before closing time- their body language, ie. Banging bowls down, will be felt if you come in around 7-3:30pm even if it's simply a to go order (this was only our second time here but I think it is important to note). I've previously worked in foods businesses too and I understand the excitement of going home after a long day, but never do I treat customers like they are a burden! That's whack. While poke is absolutely delicious in Hawaii, here on the mainland (continental USA) it's often drenched in overpowering sauces to the point where you can barely call it poke. Fortunately, that's not the case at Low-Key Poke Joint -- the seafood is fresh and subtly seasoned and marinated. The Menu: Here you choose from one of two sizes: regular and large. The former gets you 3 scoops of protein while the latter gets your 5 scoops. Low-Key has all the classic proteins, from salmon and tuna to shrimp and octopus. For vegetarians, there is tofu and avocado. The proteins are served on one of six bases: spring mix, kale mix, Jasmine rice, Hula rice (rice blended with purple cabbage and coconut), Bootea rice (bamboo with green tea rice), or half and half. Then you add in your desired sauce, sides, and toppings (of which there are many to choose from for each). The Food: I ordered a regular bowl with 1 scoop of tuna and 2 scoops of scallops on top of Hula rice. I got it with the Truffle Shuffle sauce; green onions, crab meat, seaweed salad, and ginger for the sides; and furikake for the topping. Everything tasted fresh with no overpowering sauces. While scallops and tuna weren't the best I've ever had, they were tasty enough for me to be pleased with the quality. And I was shocked at how much I loved the Hula rice. The regular size (3 scoops of protein) was enough to keep me satisfied, though I wouldn't say it's a generous portion -- more like "just right." The Setting: I can't comment on the sit-down experience, as I ordered to-go, but the inside was clean and organized. I wouldn't necessarily come here with a big party (it's a medium-sized fast-food joint after all), but you should be able to find room for a part of 6 or smaller, though 2-4 would be ideal. The Service: The staff was fast, friendly, and polite. Top notch! The Price: Here's where I have to knock off a star from my rating. For a regular bowl and a drink, plus tax, you'll be paying about $20 for a meal. For one person. At a fast food place. Wow. Sure, it's raw seafood, not manufactured burgers, but paying that much for fast food and not being completely stuffed is a downer. The best Poke spot in Riverside. What sets them apart has to be how great the staff is and how fresh the food is. I really appreciate how friendly and welcoming the staff is. They are very helpful and always offer us samples of their items so we can decide what to order. The fish always tastes fresh and never looks grey. My go to is salmon or salmon belly but their tuna is great as well. I always order the regular scoop which is loaded up. I'm usually always able to have some left over for later as well. They have a bunch of sauces and toppings to choose from including masago,corn, crabmeat, seaweed salad and even hot Cheetos. I believe they also offer sushi burritos which i have not tried but seems like a very unique and interesting item you don't see in many spots. Also solid for the price - about ~16 for a regular bowl. There are 3 different types of rice and I opted for the hula rice which had a savory coconut flavor. Stopped by Lowkey Poke Joint on a Wednesday at 12:30 PM and had no trouble finding parking in the free lot. I was greeted by the friendly staff upon arrival. I sampled the rice options and especially loved the Bootea--bamboo rice infused with green tea, which was flavorful and unique. I ended up doing a mix of Bootea and kale, which they offered with a light vinaigrette. I ordered a large poke bowl with five scoops, opting for salmon. The fish was fresh and delicious, and I appreciated being able to sample the sauces before deciding. Total was $19.56, not including tip. I used to really enjoy coming here, but lately it's been one disappointment after another. It seems like every visit comes with some kind of issue. I've been charged extra for avocado multiple times, only to find that it wasn't included in my bowl. They're also frequently out of salmon belly, and even when I come in the morning, I'm told it's still defrosting. The quality of some of the ingredients has also gone downhill. The rice and crab often have a stale or stringy texture, and during my last visit, the cucumber had a strange bitter and almost spicy flavor that didn't seem right. It's frustrating because this used to be one of my favorite poke spots. Overall, it's disappointing to see the quality, consistency, and attention to detail decline over time. read more

Absolutely unacceptable service on 12/22 around 6:45 PM. Devon was aggressively tossing our bowls on the counter and slamming metal bowls into the dishwasher bin, creating a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere. His tone while taking our order was harsh, dismissive, and outright rude. Ordering four poke bowls felt stressful and unpleasant due to his obvious negative attitude. I even pointed out how distracting his energy was. Meanwhile, the other employee, Joshua--who mentioned he was new--was polite and professional. I felt bad for him having to work alongside such behavior. I've been a loyal customer for years because the food is consistently good, but this experience completely ruined it. Customer service , and this level of hostility should never be directed at paying customers. Management needs to seriously address this behavior. OK so I really wanted to love this place but I don't think I'll be coming back. I had the regular bowl (there is no smaller size) so this was a bit too much rice for me. I actually ordered extra crab meat which of course I would pay for and that was a dollar but the avocado was extra so they charge $1.50 for that. Almost 5 dollars for tea which I thought was crazy but I got that too. I had tuna and shrimp. They weigh it out to make sure you get an exact serving and nothing more. A couple pieces of the tuna had a little bit of a fishy smell/taste to it but others did not. I ate the others. Well tried to. Half of the good ones had a lot of connective tissue in them so they are inedible and I had to spit those out. The corn tasted a little weird too. Not sure what that was about... just disappointed. The first time I came here was a couple years ago and food was pretty decent. But $24 for poke and tea is just expensive. It's set up like it's covid still and not really welcoming for many to sit down. Only few tables available. The bathroom was dirty and run down.. it's giving gas station vibes. For the prices he's charging and for not having the restaurant floor fully open, I would think the place would look much nicer than that. It felt like she wanted me to hurry, which made the experience uncomfortable.
