After talking with and getting estimates from five local Austin shops for window tinting, paint protection film and ceramic finish I selected Sunbusters. David (sales I believe) was the person I spoke with for the estimate. One of the best I spoke with in terms of knowledge and willingness to take the time to clearly explain options. He was also timely in providing a thorough estimate. The excellent customer service continued with the work. Rene is the PPF master that has 14+ years experience. When I dropped off the car and discussed additional options I had in mind, Rene was outstanding and thorough in explaining options and making recommendations. The list of the work I ultimately had done: * PPF for full front including a-pillars, side door panels below the body line, rear bumper inside lip and down bumper * Formula One Stratos 30% on all windows except the front and roof * Front windshield with Air90 (no tint, but UV/IR protection) * C-bond windshield strengthener as the car will see a lot of freeway miles * Ceramic coating * Paint chrome Tesla logo and Dual Motor badges black The quality of all of the above are outstanding. The PPF is so well done that finding edges where the PPF ends on sections where there was just partial work like the lower section of the door panels requires touching the paint to find the edge. All edges for complete coverage areas are complete with wrap around (e.g. hood, front, a-pillars, etc). For the level of tint, I went with Sunbusters' recommendation. It is at just the right level. The rear doors and hatch are dark enough that contents are not visible, but the visibility out is just fine. Highly recommend Sunbusters -- thank you Rene, Dave and the rest of the team for the outstanding service and results! read more

I made an appointment and arrived at 10am to have my two front windows on my Tesla Y tinted. They completed the tinting in 12 minutes!!!! Ok, they had only two other jobs inside so put my car inside at 10:03 am after I checked in. The two techs each installed tinting on a window and then they drove the Y out to the front at 10:15am. Is that not amazing? They have their work well orchestrated. No wasted time. Thanks guys. read more

Trust the reviews! I got the Formula One Pinnacle ceramic tint (their mid-tier option) along with their Air90 windshield tint and all I got to say is wow. The heat rejection properties are AMAZING. With the tint, it literally takes less than 30 secs for the whole car to cool after I get the AC started even after leaving the car out all day in the sun. And when I'm driving around, I don't feel any heat coming in AT ALL. Setting up an appt was very easy and they went over all the options and the pros/cons of each option. I 100% recommend getting one of the ceramic options at the minimum. Trust me, the heat rejection properties in the Texas summer heat will make it worth it. The Formula One Pinnacle Ceramic is probably the best bang for your buck option. It comes with a lifetime warranty plus an additional "no-fault" warranty to cover damage to the film. If you nick, scratch, tear, scuff, or even replace a window they will replace the film at no charge. The only other tint option that offers that no-fault warranty is their top-of-the-line Stratos tint. I did run into some issues with a couple of the windows but they were quickly and easily resolved by the team. I'll definitely be using Sunbusters again for the future! Thanks! read more

I wanted to get a dash cam installed and checked around to see that these guys got high marks for their work. My research proved correct, as the entire process from contacting them, to scheduling, to dropping the truck off and picking it up went as smoothly as can be. Dave was very adept at explaining things up front as well as showing me how to take advantage of the cameras once installed. Price was competitive, service was great, communication was perfect. read more

Dave responded to my question on Yelp extremely quickly and gave me a great quote. I went with the Stratos window tints and although it was the priciest option it definitely made the biggest difference. Other pros: I like the in store display that allowed you to feel first hands between a couple of their tinting options, and they finished faster than expected read more

I'm really impressed with the service (and I'm not easy to impress). Dav & Clinton were professional, flexible, and responsive. This wasn't my first tinting experience but it was the most strightfroward. Tesla employees actually referred me to them and I can see why as it was quick and done right. For Tesla owners; just go with the ceramic tinting, the finish goes seamlessly with factory roof glass tint. Note: this is not a paid review, no one asked me to or gave me a discount to write a review. read more

If you want your windows tinted, please please choose Sunbusters Window Tinting! After toying with the idea of getting a tint on my car for the past year, I finally decided at 3pm on Friday to reach out to some shops for quotes. By 3:20 pm, Dave had already emailed me back with quotes for different tint options (tax included in quote) and many different appointment options. I selected an appointment for 10 am on Saturday. When I dropped off my car, everybody was extremely polite, professional and efficient. It took less than 5 minutes to get my car dropped off and within 2 hours, the shop called me and told me the car was ready. I couldn't believe how fast the service was done and my tint job really upgrades the look and feel of my old Ford Fusion! I am seriously pleased with my experience with Sunbusters and will definitely be using them again in the future! read more

I've been going to Sunbusters for 30 years when it was next to Pinky pagers (yes, a pager business next door) and have had about 25 autos done by them. I'm about to call on them again for another car so they better give me the returning customer discount. read more

I did my research on five to six different tint shops in the Austin area and wanted the best job for a reasonable price. I knew I wanted a tint with ceramic because I heard about the benefits of it versus dyed or metallic. Sunbusters was the best value and quality that I found and I'm happy that I made the choice I did. They used high quality Llumar tint and Installed the CTX/Ceramatrix tint on my 2019 Subaru Impreza Wagon. It looks clean, it was applied perfectly and they even placed a long sticker over my window controls so that I don't accidentally roll my windows down for the 3-5 days that it takes for the tint to dry. Dave was friendly and I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a fair price and a job well done. Everyone in the area charges very similar prices so I suggest going with whoever has the cleanest shop, the best tints and the friendliest service. Tip: Sunbusters will only install what is legally allowed by law on the front driver/passenger windows. They will not make any exceptions. read more

Took my Tesla Model 3 in this week. I had a high opinion of this place since they'd replaced the tint on my old (15 years old at the time) car without a hassle after it had faded, but I was still a little nervous because I'd been reading about how some places weren't familiar with the Model 3 and had ruined electronics or trim. My fears were unfounded. Dave explained everything and went over the various tint levels in detail, and it came out perfectly. One nice thing is he pointed out some really non-obvious dents in my car trunk (from things falling on it in my garage), so it was like getting a free deliver inspection - it might be a good idea to just take your new car to Sunbusters right after your delivery just to find any issues Tesla needs to fix. read more

They squeezed me in on a busy Saturday and had my car done within 3 hours. They did a wonderful job! Highly recommend

Reluctant to give Custom Sounds another chance to redeem themselves I did some searching and figured Sunbusters was the ideal choice for window tint. I called a few Saturday's ago while it was dumping rain in hopes they'd be less booked and sure enough I was able to bring my car in that afternoon. On the phone I was quoted for the work to take about 1 and half hours -- these noble gents did it in 35 minutes. I didn't even have time to finish the Yerba and baggachips I bought next door before she was ready. What more can I say. A mixture of luck and great service had me reeling from the other egregious experiences I've had getting tint done on other vehicles. I'll be coming back to check out their audiophile services in the future. Much obliged good sirs! read more

I had my brand new Mini tinted here yesterday. The BMW and Mini dealers recommend this place and they did an amazing job. My car looks amazing. They were able to accommodate my schedule and the price they quoted is the price I paid, not a penny more. I need certain tint for an eye problem I have and they helped me pick out the perfect tint, including a ceramic based tint for the windshield that wouldn't interfere with the multiple electronic systems in the car. Don't be fooled by the $99.00 tint places. Go to a local specialist like these people. They can even fix your $99 tint job that looks terrible after a year! read more

The only shop to get your Tesla Model 3 tinted -- they do the back window in a single piece. The front windshield piece doesn't touch your electronics and they even put some paint protectant rectangles for your registration and the slim toll tag behind the mirror. pinnacle darkest legal on front doors, 15% on the back (darkest they go for this size), limo on the back doors & small pieces, and the air/clear tint on the front windshield. These guys know what they're doing, they don't mess with any of your electronics and know exactly how to tint your car. The result is perfect and you get the lifetime warranty on the tint for any reason at any shop. This location has proven to be great every time I come here for auto tint. They take the time to understand what you are looking for and show you the range of options that they have available. They don't try to up-sale you but, simply explain what exactly you are paying for. They tinted my Raptor last year and it was sure tested this summer. 100% got what I paid for. Get the ceramic / heat reflecting tint because you live in Austin and its F'in hot. They just knocked out our Escalade and they were so efficient and reasonable on price. I don't think I'll ever go to any other shop for tint. Good job Sunbusters. read more

Had made an appointment to get my car tint done on my vehicle. I was happy with the results. They took extra care with my tint job and COVID safety procedures (wiping handles, steering wheels and any points of contact hands would touch) I was assisted inside on the different types of window tint and answered any questions I had. Also had my PPF done by this company. If you're in the market to get your windows tinted I would recommend going to this place. Best thing to do is make an appointment in a week advance time. Also have someone pick you up on your appointment. If not you will have to sit outside in the canopy. If you have old window tint on your vehicle, they will charge based on vehicle and take and extra day to complete the job of adding the new tint. read more

There are two companies in Austin that are the only ones I trust with my cars, and Sunbusters is one of them. My Beloved Husband died and his car is very special to me. My car now. My husband was a motorhead. He did everything. My first contact was with Clinton. He answered my questions and guided me on future maintenance requirements for my car. I went to get the windows tinted plus clear coat. Renee went above and beyond. Noticing some minor damage and in need of paint touch up....he arranged for it with "his guy" who was reasonably price and took care of it right on Buell Street. From first contact to the final good bye the knowledge displayed and good explanations for all my questions were stellar...but genuine caring is nothing that can be faked. I would and will recommend Sunbusters....Clinton and Renee Perez (and Jerry) to everyone. read more

3rd time was not a charm. Dirt issues with the tint. All windows have a small amount which isn't great but I let it go because they're not very noticeable. Although one back passenger window really bothered me as encased dirt spots were really noticeable. Had it done 3 times truthfully needs to be done a 4th to fix the issue but it's time consuming and frankly outright outrageous to have to keep going through this. Extremely frustrating experience to say the least. I have to say the employees there are friendly and great but the service itself needs work. They need to check the tint before giving it back to the customer ESPECIALLY if it's getting redone. read more

Took the vehicle in to get the Stratos tint along with Air clear for the windshield. Thanks for Mr Oxford for walking me through the different series and advantages. It was completed in the time they stated. 4 days later noticed some blemishes on the sunroof and rear window. Returned and they made an attempt to fix on-site with negative results. They were able to get the car back in the shop two days later. Replaced the tint and the car is perfect now. Solid service and craftsmanship. read more

CONSUMER WARNING FOR PAINT PROTECTION FILM. SUNBUSTERS WINDOW TINT DAMAGES VEHICLE AND CUTS PAINT DURING INSTALL Sunbusters damaged my $370,000 Bentley when they installed Full PPF on the whole car. They completed 2 of our cars on the same day back to back. Very timely and clean service.

Well, I now understand why everyone gives this place such high reviews. Glad I came here. Dave is the man. I came in and scheduled a time for a consultation. Before we ever talked prices or got ahead of ourselves, he walked me through the different tint options and not only explained them, but demonstrated them with a light to show the difference between all of them. The shop is set up in such a great way visually. It's one thing to say something blocks light and heat better, it's another to have the tools necessary to showcase it first hand with the customer. It makes you feel more comfortable and like you're not being upsold. The quality of the work was great. Not to mention they do the tinting for Covert Cadillac and have a guy onsite at the dealership which speaks a lot to their quality and consistency. Dave is possibly the coolest man I've ever met. I'll definitely be back. Nice work boys! read more

I had my windows tinted here on 05/01/20. They did a great job. It's a bit pricey, but I paid a bit extra and got the job done right. I do recommend them for window tinting. Thanks Yelp for pointing me in the right direction; can't go wring with these guys! Easy to make an appointment, and I appreciated the consultation; I felt confident in both the product and the price point. I dropped my car off; got it back in a couple of hours. I'm not very tint-savvy so not sure what else to say other than it looks great (i.e., invisible) and it's effective! Great customer service start to finish. read more

Sunbusters is fantastic and does excellent workmanship! Best of all, they offer LLumar FormulaOne film which in my opinion is the best film in tinting and has the best coloring that actually matches the factory tint when looking out of the vehicle. I've had multiple vehicles over the years with LLumar tint and it's the best. Unfortunately, a week ago I had the two front side windows tinted to match the back windows at a different shop in Austin (NOT Sunbusters) that did not use LLumar film... and I learned my lesson. Upon getting the car back, the tint had a blueish/green hue when looking out of the vehicle and it was extremely unpleasant and looked really cheap. Before the tint even dried I ripped it off the vehicle and found Sunbusters on LLumar's website as the main LLumar installer in Austin. I scheduled an appointment and today I had the two front windows tinted at Sunbusters and could not be happier! It's night and day how much nicer Sunbuster's LLumar tint is compared to the crummy tint job I had done across town last week. Sunbusters' clientele is a lot of high-end vehicles as seen on their website and that speaks volumes for the caliber of work they do. If you are at all particular about your car (like I certainly am), go to Sunbusters! I will 100% be back to Sunbusters for all of my tinting needs in the future here in Austin and will go nowhere else regardless of price. read more

Bought a brand new car a week ago, and I needed to get the windows tinted asap because we live in Texas...and it's summer. Found Sunbusters on Yelp and wow, did they do a good job. I called to schedule an appointment and get a quote, and they quoted me on two varieties. When I got there, I saw that they have more than the two I was given, and was told that I was quoted for the ones that would best color-match the privacy glass on my car. (Wow, very considerate and knowledgeable.) The one I chose was the formula one ceramic with transferable lifetime warranty, meaning if my window got smashed (which has happened to me in Austin, on my old car), they'd tint the replacement window FOR FREE. Yeah, you read that right. FOR (hand clap) FREE (hand clap). My appointment was for 1 pm and I expected them to be finished by 3 pm. around 1:40, I went to a neighboring pet store (WHICH WAS GREAT -- visit Gallery of Pets) and came back around 2:40ish. My car had been completed and parked back outside the garage. I wish they'd given me a call, but I think they knew I'd have to come back before they closed since I couldn't have gone far without my car. They tinted my two front windows for $149 and for a lifetime transferable warranty and really good heat reduction without adding too much color to the window, I'm am extremely satisfied. Great service and the waiting area was full when I arrived and returned, which tells me how popular they are for tinting options in Austin. read more
