After!

My pedal snapped right off my bike while I was 5 miles into a ride, but thankfully I was only a 15 minute walk from this shop! They got me a new set of pedals and installed them all in just a few minutes! I live in Astoria, but if I ever need good fast work done I'll be coming to this shop again.

I sent these guys a text (as per their request) to ask if they are able to fix electric scooters. The response said "It really depends on what needs fixing, the best I can say is to come by and we can take a look, but I can't guarantee" So i brought my scooter to their shop and waited in line behind 2 other guys with bikes who were waiting for service (outside in the hot June sun). The guy serving them was moving at a snails pace (which is bothersome but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I had already come this far). It took him about 45 minutes total to check-in 2 bikes and finally make his way back out to see me in the front of the line. He says "what's up" and I respond "my scooter turns on but doesn't go, can you take a look at it?" The guy (with platted long dark pig tails) responds "we don't fix those". I told him that I had received a text saying they would take a look at it if I brought it in and he simply said "nope. We don't do that". Why he didn't tell me this 45 minutes earlier, when he very clearly saw me in line and acknowledged my existence, is completely beyond me. I was standing there in the hot sun like an asshole for almost an hour just to have this grumpy (cultural-appropriating) hipster wet-blanket say "nope". What kind of fucked up reality does this person live in? There Is really no excuse for this and I will be sure to let every person I know with a bicycle know that this overpriced stolen-named bike shop is absolutely not worth it. Thankfully there are plenty of other more civilised bike shops with decent customer service in Brooklyn... It should have been obvious by the name (stolen from a legendary musical artist) that this place lacks the kind of originality that a reasonably run, customer-first type of business would have.

Conveniently located off the WillyB Bridge on S4 & Driggs.

Sun and Air is a great bike & coffee shop! Went in right before closing last night to get some new brake pads installed and they did it in 20 mins flat. I also ordered a new tire that will be coming in just a couple days. Best of all, the prices were extremely reasonable. Owners are really nice folk and the vibe in the store is awesome. It's also a good stopover for folks looking for a quick coffee and snack refuel - bring your bike right in without worrying about locking it up outside! Anna Maria and her husband won me over in a heartbeat; I think I found my new regular bike shop. Next time you come off the WillyB Bridge, stop on in and check it out!

I haven't been here for bike service, but their coffee is fantastic and it's always a friendly vibe.

Great new addition to NYC cycling. I stopped by for a quick tune-up and they did a great job. Will definitely come back. Thanks!

Writing a review for a road bike I purchased a few years ago from R&A -- like the reviews note, the…read moreservice is fairly gruff/rude -- however, they were the only store that had the road bike I wanted in stock so purchased. I was all set to purchase, but the mechanic (I believe Luis) had me get on the bike and said I needed to size down. He then did an impromptu fit to get everything dialed in. 3 years later, the bike rides like a dream and is a perfect fit and has brought me years of enjoyment.

My client and I have had a few conversations with RA trying to figure out his next super bike and…read morearound every corner we were disrespected and insulted which is surprising when we are looking at dropping over $20,000 on a bicycle. Unfortunately, for one of his builds, I did use them to get some components that I couldn't source other places and around every corner they drop the ball. We were not notified that parts were on backorder, even though it said when I ordered that they were in stock and would ship within a few days. Another part they ordered the wrong size and along this process, they never let us know what was going on. I had to call to find out why I hadn't received something in a couple weeks and then again to figure out where his stem was. They never returned our calls, which meant I had to take extra time out of my day to call back numerous times. It is unfortunate that they are such a large distributor of Colnago bikes. There's no way I'm going to support this place again. They don't deserve my money and I'm upset about the thousands of dollars I've spent there thus far. It won't happen again.

It's rather sad that when I receive honest, fairly-priced, quality service, it surprises me because…read moreit has become so uncommon. I read numerous reviews praising this shop not only for their excellent service but also for their honorable business practices. Today, I had the pleasure of confirming that every one of those kind words were true in those reviews with the assistance of Sean. As a new rider with limited knowledge about my bike's needs, I made it clear to Sean that I didn't know bikes and told him to do whatever he thought was best. He could have taken advantage of my inexperience and charged me for unnecessary services, but instead, he walked me through exactly what my bike needed and what it didn't. He charged me a very very fair price to fix it right there on the spot. Thank you, Sean, and the team, for reminding me what great service feels like.

I've been going to this shop on and off for years and recently decided to give it another shot,…read morehoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.
