They carry pro level bikes Knowledgeable staff and good stock. I highly recommend if you are avid cyclist.

R & A Cycles is for Bicyclist's who have deep pockets. If you need an inexpensive bike, or a casual repair, you may want to look elsewhere. R & A sells some of the most expensive bicycles that are manufactured, and it is not uncommon to spot international visitors shopping low production Colnago's and Pinarello's. Bicycle shops in NYC are also experiencing unprecedented demand for bikes and repairs, you'll need to be very patient, and expect to shell out lot's of dough. R & A, like Bergdorf Goodman, is not for everybody.

I can't say good enough things about this place along with the folks I've met there (Sheila, Felix, Luis etc).

I had mixed results here…read more They did improve my Trek overall, but I still had to take it to another shop afterward because the brakes were rubbing. On my Giant, they found a backwards jockey wheel, but I was also charged for derailleur adjustments multiple times and later learned the actual front shifting issue was a bent chainring. At one point it was suggested that I might not be shifting correctly, but the problem turned out to be mechanical. They also adjusted my saddle and stripped the bolt in the process. After multiple visits and additional issues, I lost confidence in the quality and completeness of the work.

Instead of helping, he gave me attitude and sarcastically asked, "What's 700C?" Before I could answer, I clarified my tire is 27 1/4. He then rattled off a bunch of other sizes before finally going to the back to get one. When he returned, he handed me a single tube, priced at $10. I asked if there were other brands or options, and again, more attitude. He told me it's all rubber anyway and questioned why I even cared. At checkout, I gave him cash and asked if he needed anything else. He said I owed him 88 cents, so I gave him a dollar, and he threw the change into my hand so carelessly that it bounced off and fell onto the counter. No apology, no decency. Do yourself a favor: skip this place. There are plenty of other bike shops where the staff will treat you with basic respect, actually help you, and not act like you're bothering them by being there.

I've been going to this shop on and off for years and recently decided to give it another shot,…read morehoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.

Heard that these guys do so I brought my bike here on Sat to get the brakes fixed, wheel trued and some screws tightened. Gave me a $60 quote and an hour wait. Cool, I left the bike there and took a walk to get some money (cash only). 10 minutes after I'd left (15 since I dropped off the bike), got a call saying they were done. Ok, so maybe they're really really good? Well, brakes are fine, wheel not any better, and screws def not tightened. Meh. Got a flat tire Monday night (2 days after my 'tune-up', go figure). Was told $20 and 10-minute wait. Fine. I waited outside for at least 20 minutes. They brought my bike out. Charged me $25. Whatever, it was cold and I needed to get home. Hopped on the bike and started pedaling. Rear wheel locked up. Took another 5 to fix their mistake. Alright. Time to go home. A few blocks down the road, rear fender got loose and started to rattle everytime I hit a bump. And the best part of it? My 8-speed IGH only goes up to 6 now. I agree with the other reviewer. They're definitely taking advantage of people just because they're licensed (?) to work with motorized bikes. Stay away.

They also repair small motorcycles. And pretty much anything (non-motorized) on wheels :) Did anybody say rickshaw?

The sign in the front says "hand truck" in large letters, but they're really a bike shop.
