I bought a Riese Muller bike here in the spring of 2023. When I got it home and began riding, I felt that the cranks were so long they were giving me lots of pedal strikes to the ground. I considered returning the bike, but instead Pierre helped me get a set of Hope cranks that were much shorter. Now my ride is wonderful, and I am grateful I hung in and worked on the solution with Pierre. Since I got the bike in the spring, it quickly got too hot for me to ride. It's getting cooler now. They gave me $100 off--big woop--but have been totally useless providing any help tracking down the paint code. They told me to go to a car repair shop... It's a RAF paint code... Buyer beware of buying any electric bikes from this company because the bikes are overpriced and the owner Chris is unwilling to budge on prices for used bikes They wanted to sell me a Reise & Muller tinker touring HS electric bike that was a year and a half old with a missing derailleur and with the old battery on it for $4,500 when this bike brand new was selling for $5,000 a year and a half ago I then asked one of his workers if the owner Chris would go down on the price & to then please get back with me & then the worker didn't get back to me until a week later to let me know that Chris would not budge on the price which to me was bad customer service because the most this bike is worth is $3,500 being that it was used it had a regular chain belt & was not even the gates carbon belt with the enviola drive which is ridiculous to sell something at this price so like I said I would steer away from buying any electric bike from this shop because the owner is not compassionate enough when it comes to people that don't have a lot of money and are wanting to buy a decent bike but don't want to be overpriced so in my opinion go to a different electric bike shop and deal with an owner who's going to have some kind of compassion. read more

My family bought an Urban Arrow from Propel in Sept 2019. Leading up to the purchase, we had a LOT of questions/anxiety because this was a big purchase and a big bike. Nahim, Pierre, and Zen answered literally 10,000 questions from my wife and me over the phone- with tons of back and forth as we priced and repriced the purchase based on certain add ons I was considering. We did a test ride with our kids and Zen was indeed zen with us - calmly answering questions, showing us features, and even offering to go above and beyond (eg if we wanted to take the showroom model home for a day or two to get a more realistic feel for owning the bike! we didn't do this but it was a really great offer). When we picked up the bike (another visit to our BFFs), our kids ran around the store and the mechanic in the back was calmly explaining gears to my 6 year old son. We could not be more happy with the showroom (it's incredibly nice), the friendliness of the entire staff. This is the only place in NYC that specializes in e-bikes and on top of that, they have several brands of long john (dutch style) cargo bikes that you can try out, which you basically cannot get anywhere else in NYC. So huge thank you to everyone. We just hit our 500+ mile mark on our bike and will be coming back in for a tune up and looking forward to saying hi to everyone! read more

I received my new R&M Homage this Tuesday, unpacked it and discovered the Bosch Nyon control system didn't work. I thought "Oh great, I have a problem with the new bike and I purchased this from a shop in Queens, a thousand miles away". I called the "sales match-maker" who transferred me to the service dept. David in service listened to my description and pointed me to the area on the bike which was probably causing the problem. I waited until the next morning to deal with it and found a wire connector that had probably come undone when I removed the protective foam padding installed to protect every inch of e-bike during shipping. I pressed the two ends of the connector together and everything started working just like on the e-bike I purchased from Propel last year. What a great way to start the day. When I opened my email I found a message from Propel service manager explaining that the service department had contacted the closest Bosch service center to give me local service assistance to get my new bike up and running. I was very happy to message informing him that everything was running and good as gold. Propel has made it possible for someone who lives in a tiny country town to get the latest and greatest awesome bike and have confidence that I will not end up with an expensive headache if an issue comes up in the future. This is probably one of the oddest reviews, and one that gives it a five star no less. I walked into the Long Beach store. My intention was simple. I wanted to see some E-Bikes that were higher end. I live about 3 hours away from the Long Beach store. I walked in and looked for a few minutes. I was approached by a guy and he asked if I had any questions. I asked him a few questions about the bikes because I did not know much about them. He answered my questions and then asked me some questions. He asked where I planned on riding the bikes. He asked me about the commute distance. He asked me about comfort versus speed. He then stated, "These two bikes are probably the ones that meet your needs. Would you like to test drive one?" I said sure. This is where things changed! I thought we were going to go on a ride around the block or maybe two blocks worth of riding. NOPE. We went for a decent ride. Why? Because one of the things I mentioned was that I wanted to go faster. He took me about a mile away to an area that was free of traffic and a massive parking lot so that I could get speed. He showed me how to set the different modes on the bike and try this big ole loop in different modes. After I finished that, he suggested I try the bike he was on, as it was the other model he suggested. He pointed out that the gearing was electric and it would feel a little different. He quickly fitted me for the bike and away I went. I did a few loops. He asked me which one I liked better. I actually liked the first one better. We then went back to his shop. What was also interesting was that he didn't tell me his name at first. He didn't enquire about getting a ton of personal information about me like typical salespeople do before even talking to me. So when we were on the ride, he introduced himself. It was Chris, the owner. Our total test ride time was about 45 minutes. I loved the bike. I loved how he treated me. I thought it was the utmost in professionalism. Now why is this a weird review? Because I didn't buy a bike from him. It has nothing to do with him. It has nothing to do with his store. It has nothing to do with the bikes. It has everything to do with my wife and her being smart. My wife pointed out that these would be our first bikes in over 20 years. She didn't want to spend roughly 12,000 for two bikes for us and have them collect dust. So when I told her that I wanted to bring her there to test drive and get two, she said, "Why don't we do this. There are some other bikes that we can get for around $1500. Why don't we get two of those. Then let's take the extra 9k you wanted to spend and go on a very nice vacation. If in a year, we find that we are mad that we got those bikes because we use them all the time, we will sell them, lose money on it and go and buy two bikes from Chris." Damn . . . she is smart. So if you want professional service. People that KNOW their products inside and out. GO TO PROPEL. They sell quality bikes that will last and last and last. They do not sell low end quality. Now as I mentioned, I live about 3 hours (driving time) from their Long Beach store. I mentioned to Chris that I live in Santa Barbara. He said that is not an issue. Just last week, they came and picked up a bike for service from a client in Santa Barbara. WOW. Seriously. WOW. So 5/5, 10/10, whatever you want to score it. I bought a bike from them at a great price and they set me up with all of the accessories and instructions that I needed. They were very knowledgeable, honest, helpful and accommodating. Loving the MK1 leaning trike! I was having a tough time figuring out the best way to get around the city, with shopping, or another person, etc. Had my eye on cargo bikes for some time, but its a pricy game still in the US, so I hadn't got experience with one yet. These guys really helped me out, they new their stuff, gave me fair warning the cargo trike is hard to get used to in the 1st 10 seconds of riding. The first 10 seconds is like "omg im going to fall over!" even though its impossible to fall over... its a trike, it stops leaning after a certain angle. But the guy there yesterday talked me through it, i pushed past the initial fear and illusion and man that thing is stable. Even the wife loved it after 3 reassurances, and she is generally mistrusting of these unkown machines. It feels like riding a 2 wheel bike after. I recently bought an E-Bike from a Chinese Distributor in Queens. It was inexpensive (for an E-Bike), and I anticipated "pay as I go repairs and parts". Their overall customer service attitude was "its your Problem Now, get it out of my shop". I paid a visit to Propel Bikes in Brooklyn, for a tune up, and their attitude was "cool bike, here are your options on the work youd like done". so I dropped it off on Friday for a Tune up | Tighten up, and it was ready on Sunday. The price was very fair. The bike rides better now, and feels less rickety than when I bought it. Kyle and all of the other staff answered my questions, no matter how off the wall, in a professional easy going manner. Most importantly for me, they did not give me a hard time because I hadn't purchased the bike from them. this did happen at Green Path Bikes, whom I will never return to. Propel said that even though they were not familiar with my bike, they would work with me, and repair what they felt comfortable with. Truly the company you want to do business with! How refreshing to work with a company that you think you know what you are doing and then talk to a true professional and he points you in the right direction. It turned out to be the perfect fit. Keep in mind the original bike I was looking at cost $1000 more than what Chris finally recommended would be the right bike for me. He could have just let me get the more expensive bike but being a pro, he fit me with the right bike. I purchased the Easy Motion 27.5 and love it. I have bad knees which has prevented me from riding for years. With the peddle assist I am now able to ride for miles. I still get the excercise benefit but no pressure on my knees. I also love the look of the bike, it doesn't look like an electric bike, but rather a sharp looking mountain bike. I did a ton of research on other companies before purchasing from Chris. I have no hesitation saying that Long Island Electric Bikes is the place you should purchase from. The bike was put together, tested and shipped out quickly. A great company! read more

I just walked in, the guy at the counter with the beard, I think he was wearing glasses asked me if I needed any help. I told him 'Just checking out your shop'. He said let me know if you need any help. I checked out the bike lights, testing them all and looked at the pannier bags. I wasn't in there more then 20 minutes (I kept checking the time because I had to meet a friend two blocks away), looking at products before he said 'Are you going to buy something?' I said 'In the future when I get more money. I just spent it all on new tires, bike helmet, and a bell..... What you don't like people looking around your shop? You make people feel unwelcome.' My exact words. Then I left. I have never been asked 'Are you going to buy something?' In my intire life. That is one of the rudest thing you can say to a potential or feature costumer. It made me feel like he thought I was homeless or something like I didn't have any money or was going to steal something. I'm in my early thritys and look like every other brooklyn transplant with a bike helmet, skinny black jeans, and tshirt with a bike parked out front. I guess I'm not the CEO'S that buy their $6,000 Electric carbon Fat Bikes. I wonder how they treat black people hear. This place left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I hope they learn how to treat customers. Around Brooklyn I run into so many bike shop employees that have a better then you attitude like you dont know anything about bikes but this one was the worst. I felt sick to my stomach by the way this guy treated me. I'm just glad I wasn't black or a homeless person. I probably got treated better then they would have. I work as a messenger, all my extra money goes to bike gear. I make a habbit of stopping in every bike shop I run across when I have time. I have an extreme love for everything that has to do with bicycling. So to have a mean person make me feel so unwanted hurt me way more then it should have. Let me start by saying This place is amazing. It Has the best customer service you can imagine. When i first went to the store even with Chris not there i was treated with best and greatest service. Chris spent numerous times answering emails and messages from me. He felt bad that he was not there when i first came and spent an hour on the phone with me answering any questions I had on the bicycle i was interested in. This is by no means a regular store. What i mean by that, is that yes of course it is a business and they need to make some money but i never felt i was talked into needing anything I didnt want or had a use for. Also what is different about this store, is that it is not a typical store front. You need to call or email and make an appointment. Some people may feel turned off by that but let me explain. In my situation and experience i think it is actually a better set up that you make an appointment. Why ? Well, as I stated earlier, and keep repeating, this company, and Chris go far beyond in customer service what any other place does, trust me. When you make an appointment, Chris or his associates are able to devote their entire attention to you and your questions. How can you get any better than that ? One thing is that you may think because it's a personal appointment that they may try to talk you into buying something that you do not need. This is not the case and the total opposite. Chris explains any questions and options you may be interested in doing. For me, i really wanted a front and back light integrated into the bicycle which would run off the the bike battery. He contacted the Currie's technical support, that being my bicycle's brand, to see if it was possible. Sure enough, he found a way to get it done. Also, they let you test out any bicycle they have in stock. There was a few other options i wanted to change, such as a more comfortable seat for long rides, handle bar grips, a very good horn, an accessory bag, and attached tire pump, and a few other things. Chris helped make the process easy and made several recommendations. He knew from the start i did my research on this bicycle and any question i had that he didnt know right away, he made sure to find out quickly and responded back almost instantly. This really is a special place. I know there might be a few other places in NYC or what not that sell similar bicycles but I assure you that you will not receive the same customer support. Also, his pricing is very competitive. After you make your purchase Chris will personally deliver the bicycle to you if you are somewhat local and further explain any questions you may have. I really felt that Chris's goal was to make me happy and feel great about the purchase. I never once felt that it seemed he only cared about making a profit or extra money. In conclusion this store gets an A+++++++ from me in price and service and support. The owner Chris went way above and beyond to meet my personal needs on this bicycle. There is no doubt this is a top notch company. I wish every other place and company I have dealt with and that I will deal with show the same service to its customers how Chris and his company do. read more

You'd think that after a purchase of about $4,500 a business will keep you updated on your purchase. I'm in CA and I'm short, 5'3". On their website they had the bike size I wanted, no shops in CA had them neither other websites. Based on their website they had sizes for people 5'3" to 5'7" -size small based on size chart for this paticular bike. I order but I called them up immediately bc I changed my mind perhaps an xsmall is better. Someone answers and tells me the manager will call me right back, no call. 4 hrs later I email them and Kyle responds that the size change will be no problem. That was Nov 27. A week later I attempt to track my purchase... show it's "on hold". Ok, gave it a few days.. still "on hold". I called them, spoke to someone who states they thought they had explained to me they had to order the xsmall... even though their website said in stock. That was a friday he told me that bike would get to them that day or latest on monday. Ok, about a week and a half goes by I check the website..."on hold". I called once again and spoke to the shop owner Chris (i think that is his name)... said the bike had been shipped a week ago. I told them I never got an email with a tracker, said as soon as he hung up he would send me the email. Hung up. 1hr, 2 hr, 4hr go by... no email. I call my bf and ask if he could call them that perhaps my english is not clear enough and that is why they are not taking me serious. He spoke to a Marisa, the wife of the store owner stated the bike had been shipped and to contact the delivery business. My bf then says how if we have no information from you guys or them... make long story short he said we were contacting paypal and cancelling the order if nothing is fixed withing the next 24hrs, sure enough i get an email with tracking # from Marisa -within minutes! And later that day after work a call from the delivery service people - girl I spoke to seems to hate her life.. the bike comes in the following day Dec 14. A size 48 for someone taller than 5'3" with a seat not meant for a person shorter than 5'7". OK. My husband & I had been researching electric bikes for the past couple years but were somewhat frustrated that there was no place convenient for us to see and compare models. We had seen this site but were a bit put off by the fact we would have to make an appointment. Well, what a wonderful experience we had and I am so glad we called. Chris and Kyle spent so much time with us, discussing options, brands, what our needs would be but allowed us to draw our own conclusions. We never felt we were being pushed in any direction. We tried out a couple brands and decided on the BH Easy Motion. Chris discussed with us our needs for different tires, comfortable seats, panniers etc. After we brought our bikes home, we found we needed some adjustments. We called on our way back and the guys were there and ready to tune and tweak! We are spending some time on the North Fork/Shelter Island and are enjoying getting back into biking. Both of us are in our 60s and I had not been on a bicycle in about 15 years. A ten mile round trip to Horton's Lighthouse was a PLEASURE with the E Motion !!!!!! The different speeds as well as several levels of pedal assist gave us the flexibility we needed for different terrains and traffic conditions.. My personal favorite is the full assist (no pedalling at all) that I used for a while on the way back........NOT because I needed to but because I wanted to try it out. Going up the small hills on LI are effortless-no walking the bike for this lady. We plan to travel extensively in the future and our bikes will always be with us. Time is money, and I saved a lot of time and money by riding the Neo Race that I bought from Long Island Electric Bikes! I've had the Neo Race for over a year with no problems! It came with 28cc tires, so I had to upgrade to 32 cc to avoid flats on the tough Brooklyn streets. The bike costs the same amount that I would pay for a year's worth of metro cards. I can get any where in Brooklyn within 20 minutes. That is more than what I can say about my car. I don't have to pay car insurance, gas, parking fees, or outrageous repair fees , like I do with my car. Of course I don't ride when it's extremely cold or in the rain, but I can work around that. I can get anywhere in the city in a fraction of the time that I can by public transportation. Everyone compliments me on the bike. The cops never mess with me no matter how fast I'm going. Just make sure that you wear a helmet and go with the flow of traffic and you will be okay. I think that this bike has been the best investment that I've ever made! read more
