Multiple mechanics suggested I might not know how to shift properly, but the actual problem turned out to be a bent chainring. That was only discovered after I went back multiple times and pushed for them to keep looking. It did not seem like the bike had been properly test ridden before I was told the issue was rider error. Communication was also difficult, and the overall attitude I experienced from staff felt passive aggressive rather than helpful. I was largely left on my own trying to sort out what was going on. They also replaced the wrong bolt on my saddle. When I asked about replacing the correct bolts, I was told they did not have the proper ones, and the issue was not properly resolved. After multiple visits, repeated charges, poor communication, and the real problem being missed until I pushed for further inspection, I would not return.

I've been trying to get my little guy comfortable just gliding around on his new bike. One thing I read suggested detaching the pedals until he's ready. I tried to detach the pedals myself but didn't have the right tools. So I brought it back to Bicycle Habitat to have them just unscrew the pedals. And guess what? They charged me $9! To do about 45 seconds of "labor". For removing the pedals of a bike that I just bought brand new from the store. Does this seem right to you? Seems like money-grubbing greedflation jerkmanship to me. It's sad because I wanted this to be the spot where we could come for repairs, gadgets, and service. After this experience, I'm compelled to look elsewhere. Really kind of shameful.

Updating my original 5-star review…read more I initially had a very positive impression, but after a later service I found that one of the derailleur jockey wheels had been installed backward, and the bike was not properly indexed afterward. The result was a bike that was not rideable, which seriously affected my confidence in the quality of the work. I was also charged about $260 in labor for installing my own tires, wrapping the bars with my own tape, and installing my own chain. Given the result, the overall experience felt hard to justify. I'm disappointed because I expected better attention to detail and a properly functioning bike after service. I won't be returning.

I took it over to Bike Plant and it turned out I needed a wheel replacement. The shop was about to close but the attendant still took the time to switch the wheel out right then and there! I've been in for other things and I'm always met by great service, honest answers, and a directness that is often lacking in these types of transactions. While I do not want for my bike to falter, I feel good knowing that if/when it does, a place like Bike Plant is here to care for it.

I then go to charge battery and find that they sent an old style charger, not the one that the manufacturer shipped with the bike to them. I went out and purchased one locally and now and even though they promised to reimburse me, they are not answering my emails. If you decide to buy from them, only buy if you can test ride and inspect. Do not purchase if it has to be shipped. Buyer beware.
