The only one open until 6 PM was Trek Bicycle in Cobble Hill, so I power-walked my bike there like I was in the Tour de France: Flat Tire Edition. I rolled up at exactly 6PM door still open and slipped inside hoping for a quick top-off with the pump. The gentleman who helped me was incredibly friendly and took a look at my wheel right away. Turns out, it wasn't just low on air, my front tire and tube were completely shot, riddled with holes. Honestly, after 13 years of daily riding in all conditions: rain, snow, potholes, and the occasional broken glass buffet, I can't say I was shocked. I've been airing them up pretty regularly this past year, which probably should've been my sign. What really surprised me was that I had just had a full tune-up and inspection at my regular bike shop two days prior, and no one mentioned that my tires were basically waving a white flag. Even though it was closing time, they kindly replaced my tires efficiently and professionally, staying past 6 PM to make sure I had a safe ride home. So I went down to The Bike Shop on Court Street for a second opinion, old school place across from Court Street Grocers, and they told me all it needed was some oil. Went to two other bike shops before I came to this one. First bike shop said all I need to do is clean my tires, but that if I wanted them to do it, it's $20 and will take 30 minutes. Second bike shop I went to said they don't have the noodle for my break and didn't even bother looking into my bike and said they can't help me. I called a third bike shop and was quoted $10 to fix my break but that id have to wait until Tuesday. So I ended up here. And even though there were people ahead of me in line to drop their bikes off, someone came out to assess my bike, and then brought me in so that they can take a deeper look. If I could rate them a 10, I would. This store is incredible. I brought my classic Trek in for an overhaul, and from the get-go, from start to finish, I was treated with professionalism and respect. I was greeted as soon as I came in. I was told how long I would wait. I was informed whom I would speak with about my bike. Andrew T, in charge of repairs, spent tons of time with me discussing my bike and coming up with a game plan for what he thought we could do to get it up to speed. His colleagues worked with me to take a look at shoes and various other accessories that I might need. At no point did I feel pressured into buying anything or accepting some type of major repair job which may have not been necessary. They answered emails and returned phone calls throughout my overhaul experience. I have had my bike now for over a week, and it rides like a dream, even though it's 25 years old. I would return to this Trek store again and again, and can't recommend them highly enough. I'm so glad they're in the neighborhood. read more

While incredibly nice and well-intentioned, they really mostly know their own (Sram) bikes / groupsets. I got coaxed into a drivechain clean, and they replaced my cable and barrel adjuster without asking (for free, I should add, so I had no complaints at the time). The problem is they couldn't get it working with my Shimano GRX set, so they had to throw out the chain and cassette. First day on my bike packing trip, and the cable the put in failed, had to be replaced. I went back to my original Canondale shop, and they told me exactly why Trek couldn't get my derailleur dialed in; I ended up getting my old cassette at the end. I would only go here if you have a Trek bike - that's what they know. Sorry guys. read more

I am consistently blown away by how good this place is. Have brought my (non Trek) bike several times, about once a year. The team is kind and unpretentious, good at explaining exactly what needs to be done, and does exactly what they say they are going to do. I took my bike in yesterday to replace brake pads and expected it would take overnight. I got a text 90 minutes later saying it was ready! Beats expectations every time. I brought my 10 year old Trek hybrid in for a tune-up yesterday and everyone was super helpful! After taking a look at my bike, they said I didn't need a tune-up and just needed new brake pads. I got some new handlebar covers as a gift and was having trouble getting them on at home. Brought them here (where they were purchased) and they installed them no problem. But then they said that something was wrong with my fork and it's connection to the rest of my bike. In my head I thought "oh great how much is this going to cost?" But he took it on back to take a look, and returned in ten minutes. "You're all set" he said, having fixed the issue free of charge. Customer service at Cobble Hill's Trek is superb, speedy, and knowledgeable. We've been to this neighborhood shop a few times already this year, for bike repairs and to get bike accessories for our entire family. Everyone picked out fancy bells for their handlebars, and for Christmas I also got a matte black bicycle rack with slick paniers for the rear wheel.
