the best bike shop in bk
Renee A.

Worth the trek! With so many bike shops in Brooklyn, I will STILL come back to Mike's time and time again. Friendly and personal service. Not to mention the best deal for a tune-up there is. While leaving, Mike noticed I was struggling with carrying my things, ran out, and threw a bottle cage on my bike free of charge. Truly a class act. Worth every penny and then some.

Extremely annoyed as this is the closest bike shop to my apartment and I went there during open hours and surprise -- it was closed. Waste of time. They shouldn't randomly close when it says it's open everywhere else.

Best in Brooklyn! Quick, efficient, honest! I've come to Mike after checking several bike shops in Dumbo. My bike was in the accident and it needed to be checked and tuned before I could back on it. The shops in Dumbo were claiming I had to invest at least $150 in repairs, hinting that it was time to get rid of the bike and get a new one. When I met Mike and consulted with him, he checked the bike and said it was still a great one just needed to be tuned up a bit. I left the bike overnight and picked it up the following day. It was like new! Breaks, gears, wheels, everything felt so good when I took a ride. I was beyond pleased and grateful that Mike fixed my baby which will serve me another year or even more. And I paid $50 for everything! Mike is the best! He's very honest, no bullshit, reasonably priced and efficient. Ride safe everyone!

I haven't tried the bike out but I might no longer need max volume on my headphones -if there no squeaking...

At the beginning i was just a bicyclist who simply liked to ride and to save money so I invested in titanium frame bike. After the first year of riding, on my first service trip to bike shop I learn something new: owning a titanium bike is like helping your best friend who file bankruptcy by buying out his Ferrari for the price of Ford and insure the car somewhere in Texas...( assuming you can afford Ford:)) . You cannot tell anybody you paid Ford price but all assume if you own a Ferrari you can afford 300$ Oil change. Same story: my Bike was purchased on Ebay. From year to year the bicycle condition was getting worse and worse. I visited all the shops that was recommended : Syd's, Soho Habitat, Gotham Bikes, another in TriBeCa, one around 34 Str and plenty uptown...I would walk in and all will say: Ah, MOOTS! And a week later i will walk out with same bike in same bad condition minus money I paid. All the people I talk to either scam me by selling extra or simply were lazy. It's now the bike is old (2006 model) but years ago I would not leave it outside parked. So you can link bike and service change together better. I used to have hard time to explain what was wrong. I did not know that "skipping " has a termin as ghost shifting, " squicking" is a signal that you need new pads. Oh, I did not know what "pads" are. Neither spokes or chain-stretch. I learn all the terminology but even speaking same language did not helped until I visited Mike. I made a selection based on Yelp. The only negativity i read about his shop was the timing. However, I preferred getting bicycle in good condition so timing was not an obstacle. I jumped on the train and walked to the store: the front tubeless tire was flat. Another store sold it for me. Next day it was flat. I came back , they inflated it again but next morning tire was flat again. It was pointless to argue. I recived no exchange or refund. I simply said bye to the money. I forgot to mention that tire they sold me did not match in size the second one. They returned a Frankenstein to me basically. It took a while to get bicycle back- true, but! Bicycle grey color is polished to the point it is glowing in the dark. Everything is lubed, cleaned, no more nasty sound when stopping. All job priced accordingly. I did not feel overcharged and most importantly I finally seen some difference and Mike apologized for taking so long so he offered to deliver it from Bk to Manh. Whoa! Really!? I will most likely ride the bike tonight. The shop is far from were I actually leave but nevertheless I be returning customer. Mike, my big thanks!!

Great place to get bike serviced. Turnaround is quite fast given it's a 1 man shop. Friendly and price is very reasonable.

Basic, long wait time. No space for waiting inside or out while bike is being serviced.

Writing a review for a road bike I purchased a few years ago from R&A -- like the reviews note, the…read moreservice is fairly gruff/rude -- however, they were the only store that had the road bike I wanted in stock so purchased. I was all set to purchase, but the mechanic (I believe Luis) had me get on the bike and said I needed to size down. He then did an impromptu fit to get everything dialed in. 3 years later, the bike rides like a dream and is a perfect fit and has brought me years of enjoyment.

My client and I have had a few conversations with RA trying to figure out his next super bike and…read morearound every corner we were disrespected and insulted which is surprising when we are looking at dropping over $20,000 on a bicycle. Unfortunately, for one of his builds, I did use them to get some components that I couldn't source other places and around every corner they drop the ball. We were not notified that parts were on backorder, even though it said when I ordered that they were in stock and would ship within a few days. Another part they ordered the wrong size and along this process, they never let us know what was going on. I had to call to find out why I hadn't received something in a couple weeks and then again to figure out where his stem was. They never returned our calls, which meant I had to take extra time out of my day to call back numerous times. It is unfortunate that they are such a large distributor of Colnago bikes. There's no way I'm going to support this place again. They don't deserve my money and I'm upset about the thousands of dollars I've spent there thus far. It won't happen again.

It's rather sad that when I receive honest, fairly-priced, quality service, it surprises me because…read moreit has become so uncommon. I read numerous reviews praising this shop not only for their excellent service but also for their honorable business practices. Today, I had the pleasure of confirming that every one of those kind words were true in those reviews with the assistance of Sean. As a new rider with limited knowledge about my bike's needs, I made it clear to Sean that I didn't know bikes and told him to do whatever he thought was best. He could have taken advantage of my inexperience and charged me for unnecessary services, but instead, he walked me through exactly what my bike needed and what it didn't. He charged me a very very fair price to fix it right there on the spot. Thank you, Sean, and the team, for reminding me what great service feels like.

I've been going to this shop on and off for years and recently decided to give it another shot,…read morehoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.
