We frequent the Summit Grill about twice/month for a nice evening after work with some drinks and nice appetizers. Never again. Normally, everything is fine. But we discovered tonight that if you're black, you can get free food and free drinks. We sat down, ordered our stuff (one of which was a Reuben Sandwich). At some point, a nice-looking, middle-aged black couple sat beside us at the bar. Nothing out of the ordinary. This was AFTER the happy-hour time after we came in and certainly after the black couple came in, but the bartender mistakenly gave them a Happy Hour menu with discounted drink prices, so the bartender felt "obliged" to give them the discounted drink prices. Following that, my +1 was served her Reuben sandwich and we overheard the black "gentleman" say that he "didn't know it was going to be so large." This was a good bit after they had ordered their food. The bartender told them it was already ordered and the kitchen was making it so it's ok, and they'd take it off the bill and they could go ahead and receive and eat the food. In addition, another server had an order that wasn't claimed so they gave that to the black couple also. Of course, I'm only vaguely paying attention to all this and at some point become slightly annoyed and ask the bartender, who had just brought our bill, what I have to do to get on the "free food" list also. He responded with a muffled, "wouldn't that be nice." I didn't really expect he, as only a bartender, would have much to say about it, but I definitely wanted it known that I witnessed exactly what was going on. So, here we go. Another Hereford House situation where, some people of the right color, know how to get free food and drinks, and nobody from the restaurant can say "no" to them. I guarantee if I had asked for the Happy Hour menu after sitting down, I would have been told that it was too late. But, if you're the right color, it seems, Happy Hour can be whenever you want it to be. Regardless, this is more of the same old crap. These places are so afraid to say no to a POC. Meanwhile, other patrons are ordering their items, paying full price without the benefit of black privilege. No thanks. Never going there again. If you are black - go in there and get everything you can for free. Order everything you want, and then within 10 minutes or so, just claim there was a "mistake" or a "problem" and the ol' Summit Grill will take it off your bill and bring you the food/drinks anyway. First off, if you don't know where the restaurant is, please don't give up on searching for it. It sits next to a hotel, but you can't see it from the highway nor the outer road. I had been anticipating Sunday Brunch for three days. I met a group of ladies and we arrived, hungry! We got there at 12:30 pm - reservations made via Open Table. Tyler was our server. First, I had to call him over to assist us. He took our "water" order and a couple of us added mimosas. Whenever Tyler circled back around and decided to stop at our table, he chimed in on our conversation, which I felt was a bit annoying. His service was so slow. I do realize the restaurant was busy but we continued to flag him down just to take our drink order, food order, and ask for refills on water. One of the ladies orders coffee, because the food was taking too long to come out. It was about 20 minutes later, the food arrives, but no coffee. One of the ladies ordered the French Toast with the fixings. When she received her order, the toppings were not the same as The Summit Grill's French Toast in the Waldo area. When we asked if they were separate establishments with the same name, we were told they were not but each location may prepare their food differently. Huh?!! I was rather confused on that one. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. It came with fresh green beans and mashed potatoes that taste as if they were instant. The chicken is enough two meals. The lightening was VERY dim...to be so early in the day. The restaurant side was dark. The bar area had metal tables and had a little more light because of the large window in the area. One of the ladies was overcharged $6 on her ticket. I can't understand how that is done when the amount is already entered in the system. Tyler tried to explain that he swiped B2 instead of B1 - whatever that means. We really didn't need to know that part of the service. It just made things worse. Great place! Our dinner was almost perfect. We were looking to try out a new place for dinner, and having read some good reviews decided to stop by. This is a very elegant looking place. The whole place is dimly lit, with candles on the tables. Everything looks very nice and clean. We came in on a Sunday night around 8 and the dining room area was deserted, so we opted to sit in the bar area. The bar itself was full, but there were plenty of open tables. Service was initially a little slow as there seemed to be only one server, but there were only 6 tables with people. A few minutes later another server showed up and service was pretty smooth from then on. We started with the wings, which were great! we ordered them naked, they were meaty and juicy, and very flavorful even without any sauce. My wife had the chicken club with a side of Mac & cheese. The sandwich was very large and the meat was very tender. The Mac and cheese were delicious, cheesy , but not too rich. I had the farmhouse burger. That thing was almost too big and had almost too much going on between the thick beef patty, the bacon, lettuce, tomato, lettuce, and alioli. Regardless out was delicious! And the shoestring fries were also very good. After such a delicious meal we HAD to try their deserts. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The chocolate gooey butter cake was surprisingly dry and chalky. And the creme brulee was bland and the consistency was much to hard. I have been here thousands of times. Tonight I went to the restroom and a male and female came into the stall next to me and engaged in sexual encounters, right next to me. A child and mom came in to wash thier hands. I let the staff know what was happening. Multiple females entered and escorted the perverts out in front of the entire bar. (A male and female) I was very upset. Renee was terrible from the beginning slamming beers down and having an overall bad attitude. No one acknowledged me about the situation. Just ignored the fact that I experienced this. Then I asked management to come out and was way worse. "I didn't know" "it wasn't my fault" "I didn't know you were still here"I sat in the same seat for hours after I reported it. poor excuse for management and inclusiveness. This is probably some of the very best Calamari we have ever had.... !!!! The salmon was awesome but according to the husband the pot roast was to die for! Sadly there was no room for dessert so no review. So why only 4 stars? Our entree was just a bit to quick after the appetizer moved out, otherwise everything was spot on. I'd love to compliment our waiter, but lucky us... he didn't feel the need to be on a first name basis. Came here with a large group of friends for dinner. We were seated quickly with our reservation and waters were quickly distributed. We had some issues with our server immediately doing something when someone asked him something and not waiting to see if someone else at the table needed something but otherwise the staff was friendly and good came out in a reasonable time given our party size. Parking was an issue at 9 on a Saturday evening as the place was packed to the brim. Food: The seared tuna appetizer was good but be warned you only get about 6 2-inch slices of tuna so it'll vanish almost immediately if you share it with anyone. The fried shrimp app was much better with about 12-15 shrimp that were crispy and not-oily served with some generic sauces. The blackened salmon salad was delicious and packed with guacamole, corn, and a decent slab of salmon. The only complaint was that it had been dressed too early and the leaves were already starting to wilt by the time it hit the table and was a soggy mess by the end, again probably related to our large party size. My wife had the NY strip steak which was moist and tender, a decent medium rare like requested. The mashed potatoes, asparagus, and croquette were also solid. Overall we really enjoyed our meals with only minor issues with the service. The prices are exorbitant but the food is well-executed and the ambiance enjoyable. I would gladly come back again but probably only for occasions. read more

First time here and I had the stuffed Salmon dish with mashed potatoes and salted veggies. Overall this dish was good. The stuffing used in the fish was a little too salty for my taste. I finally came in and tried this restaurant after seeing it off the highway. Oh-boy was I surprised with how awesome the food looks and tastes. I would of gave it 5 stars but the only down side was the small amount of soggy bread due to the natural juices of one of the meals. An adjustment in placement or a quick wipe before it goes for the table would of made the difference. The waitress (Juliana) is so friendly and very attentive to the customers needs. We will definitely come back and try more of the delicious food. read more

So myself, and some friends of mine decided to have a lovely brunch since we were all available. We all agreed in this restaurant. This was my first time ever at summit grill and it was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was very refreshing, as well as the exterior/interior beauty. All of the staff were attentive, polite and helpful. Our server, Cole, was friendly and catered to all of our needs in a prompt manner. However, I must say that my favorite thing about this restaurant were their exquisite trash can nachos, and the classic Mad Dog 20/20 beverage that I dipped along with my food. Love this place. This was recommended to us when we first moved to town last year. We live near a lot of chain restaurants, and were looking for something local. First of all, the atmosphere can be all things to all people. Whatever you are in the mood for, they have an area of the restaurant that will suffice. The dining room is very quiet and intimate if that is what you are in the mood for. If you are looking for something more lively, the bar area is expansive. The bar itself is huge, and there are many seating options in the bar area. From small tables to larger areas that can accommodate big groups of people. It is loud in the bar area, but very alive. Sitting in here is generally our preference. If it is nice outside, by all means enjoy the patio. It is lovely. But the food is really just so good. I highly recommend the Chicken Pesto Pasta. Very thinly sliced chicken with penne, vegetables, and pesto. It is perfect every time. The Pot roast is also very comforting, yet feels sophisticated. My husband alway gets the Prime Rib on the weekends, but also loves the Chicken Fried Chicken. Last night we tried the Pot Roast Nachos for an appetizer, and I don't think we will be able to go back ever again without ordering them. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that I sometimes find the bar staff to be dismissive. It's not that they are not efficient, it is more about the fact that they don't seem engaged with the patrons, which is something that you usually look for when seated at the bar. We had an amazing meal here after a long day of driving May 2021. Excellent food, good covid precautions. My husband had the largest and tenderest pork chop we have ever seen! My first trip to Summit Grill was what I consider mixed results. I ordered the potato soup which was more like country gravy but the rest of the meal and service was okay. Our next trip I took the family and we always eat spinach artichoke dip and we were given a very small bowl of chips which didn't last long and I ordered two subsequent small bowls of chips. When I got home I found in looking at the bill that I've been charged $2 per extra bowl and was never disclosed to me of that charge. The restaurant is dark and noisy and there's too many other good places to choose from. read more

Great restaurant, but be warned if you sit outside you will be surrounded by smokers. Came here for happy hour and got great service. It was a beautiful day, so we asked to sit outside. Smoking was not only allowed, but ash trays were provided. It was very disappointing to have cigarette smoke surrounding us during an otherwise lovely meal. I expect smoking at a normal bar patio, but definitely not for a nice restaurant. We would not have come to this patio if we knew smoking was allowed. read more

I've always loved the food at Summit Grill & Bar, but the service has always been lacking. I've had the chicken fried steak, filet mignon, KC strip, and multiple appetizers--calamari / steak street tacos / spinach & artichoke dip. The parking lot is deceptively full during happy hour; granted, the happy hour is awesome because of lively folks, drinks, and delicious discounted appetizers. During happy hour, the dining area is usually not that full of patrons. That being said, service in the dining area has always been less than stellar at this location. At our latest visit (Thursday night @ 6:30pm), we ordered the filet and strip. Both steaks came out at the perfect temperature, but we were not given steak knives. There was a runner that delivered our food, but our server did not come back to check if we had cut into our steaks to check. Because she did not come check, she didn't realize we had no received steak knives. I had to get up and ask another server to receive our steak knives (I wasn't about to just sit there and the steaks get cold!). In addition, my cup of water did become empty three times during our night. Our server was obviously busy, taking care of a large party, as well as two smaller 2-tops including us. Nothing against her--because she was super nice and tried her best! She was just too busy. It wasn't just out waitress either, there were two other tables who were visibly agitated because they had either waited too long for someone to pick up their bill or get their food order. For the older couple who were waiting for their credit card to be picked up, it took over 10 minutes for someone to come by. For the couple who were waiting to place their order, the gentlemen also waited about 10 minutes before he physically got up to tell someone how long he had been waiting. Walking into the bar, you could obviously see that management places much more emphasis on the service given in the bar rather than the dining area. I can only assume that there's a larger flow of income from the happy hour side of the restaurant. If management added more servers in the dining area, I would definitely rate this location a 5-star establishment. read more

How did I miss this jewel for so long! I've been on a few occasions now and the experience is consistently great. The French toast is a must try, and the breakfast plate is enough for 2. The chopped salad is great. They also have a 10 for 10 lunch menu that includes some tasty options. I tried the grilled chicken club. The chicken breast was tender, bacon was smokey and crisp, and the portion was filling. The staff is nice and accommodating, and the ambiance is awesome. read more
