I am not a huge coffee drinker; however, I know that Summer Moon is a great local spot and option for Austinites. I was meeting up with Roe T for a Sunday chat and this was a good middle ground location to where we both live. I also liked that it's got extended hours compared to many other coffee spots in the area (since we were meeting around 2 p.m.) and has free parking. The space is small, but there's good variety of seating - indoor tables and bar stools as well as a patio area with tables. The staff were friendly. After a rough couple of days I came in this morning for my usual fix - half winter moon latte for myself and a large drip for my partner. I only had cash to pay today but they are a cashless store, the cashier said they would make my drinks anyways. I tipped them the cost of the drink with my cash and said I was very grateful!! The service was great when I inquired about their drinks. If you're a student this is also a great place to study. Came into this location late at night. Good parking in front of the business, a patio for outdoor hanging and a place for your pets. Indoors in smaller but calm and relaxing. Summer Moon drinks are fantastic! I'm bummed that there are no Summer Moon coffee shops where I live. I tried the Iced Blue Moon Latte and instantly fell in love with it. It was refreshing and flavorful. I loved the floral notes and light creaminess. Details: Shots of their smooth Velvet Blaze Espresso and lavender topped with a 1/4 of the rich Moon Milk and 3/4 nonfat (skim) milk over ice; a deliciously floral take on their traditional 1/4 Winter Moon Latte. Their wood fired and oak roasted coffee is really unique. You can definitely taste the difference. There's no bitterness in the drinks. I'm also a huge fan of the Moon Milk, their signature cream. We stopped here for coffee because the sign in the window read "wood fired coffee". We had no idea what that meant, so we decided to check it out. It's a cute shop with lots of areas to sit. Clean and spacious. They sell bags of their coffee and some other paraphernalia like tshirts and coffee cups. We learned that the beans are roasted on wood. They also have something called "moon milk" and all kinds of crazy options for half moon milk or quarter this or that. Anyway, it's work checking out at least once. $17 bucks for 2 coffees is a bit much for me but I'm a sucker for novelty so half the fun was figuring out their menu. So I've tasted quite a few and mostly dislike or indifferent at best. But one that I always like is the one from summer moon. And she loves it so much that she even got the sweet hearth coffee beans for home use. We've been at this location a few times. It's a bit slow. Summer Moon's coffee is just the way I remember it, 6 years ago (though it was a different location). There's a decent selection of coffees, definitely go for their specialty drinks, aka with the "Moon Milk", which is their take on sweet cream. The default summer moon means the latte is about 20% espresso, 80% moon milk. You can also get it in 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 moon's, which it'll be replaced with skim milk (per their website). I love that there's a couple of alternative flavors with the moon milk latte: lavender, chocolate, and matcha (though order ahead site shows more!). I had the full amount of moon milk, it's very sweet, dangerous for someone with a sweet tooth, but the creaminess is nice (great for someone who isn't a fan of the taste of coffee but want that hit of caffeine). They have a few pastries behind the glass but I think you're really going to be here for the moon milk! PARKING: Plenty of parking, albeit slightly tight, more in the back. I think there's a coworking space that it shares parking with but there is also overflow parking available. FYI, watch out for that pothole when leaving the parking lot. I would be a regular if I lived in Austin. They also have super cute merch and the girls behind the counter are all super friendly! I (think?) I got a Blue Moon with Oat Milk creamer (LOVE that they have alternative versions of their famous moon milk creamers!!) and it was ridiculously good. I think there was some sort of floral hint added (lavender syrup perhaps), and this is the first time I've had something with floral syrup added that didn't completely overpower the drink. Update: I tried their espresso milkshake and it tastes just like blended milk. Delicious but I was hoping more of a coffee flavor like the winter moon lattes. Their moon milk taste like melted vanilla ice cream or vanilla milk shake -- delicious. I will stick to the perfectly balanced 1/2 winter moon lattes for now!! This is definitely my guilty pleasure! Their moon milk with their coffee so the perfect combination. I am going to drink this until I figure out what their moon milk is!! They have moon milk in non dairy version now too. I still need to try their oat milk version. I've heard their espresso shake is really good too. It's the summer now and I think the normal size with half moon is very flavorful. If you want less sweet, you can get a quarter moon! My friends from out of state love the combo of 3 espresso shots and half moon, I believe the normal cold drink size has two espresso shots. The smallest for the cold drink is medium but for warm drinks, you can get small. I like the warm version of this drink too! I love how I can't get this anywhere else and I feel very satisfied every time I get it. I just can't drink it all the time because it is very sweet. I've been to this location quite a few times and have only had positive experiences. The line moves quickly and despite a tight area by the counter I've never run into much crowding. The staff has been consistently efficient and friendly. I've certainly noticed they make an effort to get to know regular customers. The coffee quality is consistent, I really like their regular and nitro cold brew, but am not the biggest fan of their hot coffees. However moon milk can make any coffee drink taste phenomenal. I also love how often they'll change up their seasonal offerings, so I can't imagine ever getting bored if you're looking for variety. There's a reasonable amount of seating, mostly outdoors, but I've usually seen at least one table inside open when I've gone. Austin, TX 78757) is: on the corner of Burnet and West Anderson Lane, a busy spot full of cars and next to the gas station, caddy corner to Lonestar Kolaches and back of Meineke auto repair. We ordered the last item on the savory breakfast items around 10: 24 AM-Tacodeli: Freakin' Vegan- organic refried black beans, avocado, pico de gallo ( a short taco about five inches that was torned from the moist filling and the black beans turned purple from the pico de gallo) came with three choices of Salas (Verde-green, Rojas-red, and I think I received a roasted pepper kind-orange, salty but good flavored.) There were: muffins, croissants, and donuts among other tasty items available. My husband selected the 16 oz Cold Brew with Half and Half so it tastes lightly sweeten with a medium coffee base. Just moved to ATX and in search of delicious coffee shops! First stop, Summer Moon! Parking: got lucky! Someone was pulling out once I got there. Once I took a look around, parking is a bit of a struggle. First impression: tiny! Not that big. I totally wish they were a huge location because I did like the ambiance. The seating options could be more "comfy" because the chairs were not meant to be seated on for hours. Baristas: I loved the warm welcome! I asked her what the "most popular" drink was and she gave me several options. I decided to go with the original, local fav drink: summer moon latte. Working from there: hard! With 10+ locations across Austin, I can get a cup of Summer Moon without driving too far. The Anderson location has a beautiful outdoor patio with colorful picnic tables and string lights. Inside there is a wrap around counter with a pastry display and plenty of Summer Moon merch! I've never waited mroe than 5 minutes to order my coffee, even on busy weekends. The coffee itself is very good. I typically go with a 20oz cold brew with Moon Milk. For those wondering, Moon Milk is a rich homemade cream with a touch of sweetness. I usually add vanilla or caramel to my iced coffees, but the Moon Milk itself is perfect for me. As for the pastries- hands down some of the best I've had. My go-to is the everything crossaint. Summer Moon is a bit unique in that they fill their crossaints with cream cheese (see picture) that adds a very unique flavor. We've both been to Summer Moon many times over the years because we've used the co-working space next door. We want to like this place better, but nothing about it seems to function well plus we recently discovered that it was owned by antichoice people. The queueing system is not intuitive and--this is such a pet peeve--we have seen them (on multiple occasions) prioritize online orders over in-house customers. It's always cold in there and there's very little seating. Their signature "summer moon" drink is so overly sweet that we can only handle the "1/4" version. Food is horrendous: dry/stale/unappetizing baked goods and smushed Taco Deli tacos. Staff friendliness is hit-or-miss. And prices are high. Wow, reading all that we're surprised that we even landed on three stars...! We have had a handful of good experiences, but there are better places to get your joe in ATX. read more

It took me three attempts to determine whether or not I bought the whole Summer Moon idea. Honestly, I understand the hype! I got a full moon cold the first time, tried a half moon hot the second, and a quarter moon cold last. The quarter moon is definitely my sweet spot! The staff the first time did not seem happy to be there but the general manager was there my most recent time and I think it made the customer experience a lot more enjoyable.
