    Elliptical console damaged , bent and banged up.

    My $27.5K (supposedly stress-free experience) from Prescott, AZ to SC - 21st Jun 2021 Every time I think about writing this, I feel sick, that's how bad of experience it was, from the loading to finally getting our insurance claim settled. A team of 5 people turned up on 21st June 2021, only 3 wanted to work. All of them were wearing headphones to listen to music. This caused issues, with items being left behind and one unwanted item being loaded (a garbage can with household garbage in it). I thought the headphones might be for them to communicate between themselves, woe betide if we asked questions. One of them was quite indignant about stopping his music. Early on we caught one loader vaping, close to our belongings. One used our microwave without even asking. My husband caught them arguing at the end of the day about how the trailer had been loaded. They stopped work at 5pm, started to unload some items and then reloaded them. This is the last thing a customer who is stressed out with a big move wants to see and hear. We set off the next day for South Carolina, arriving on the 25thJune. Phone calls to the coordinator, Nick, to find out the delivery status of our belongings, were not returned. We tried again on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 30th June, still no response. I smelt a rat. In desperation I phoned HQ. I was informed that my belongings were stored in a trailer somewhere in Phoenix. They could not provide me with an ETA because they had no available drivers. We phoned twice a day to get an update, and wrote to the CEO of Unigroup twice, no one seemed to care. I had no pressure to leave my home in AZ as the new owners were not moving in for several months. Mayflower had loaded my belongings knowing they had no driver for SC, they lied to me. A memorable 4thJuly, I felt like was being held hostage, squatting in my new home. The phone calls and emails went on for days, still no driver. During one call, a representative suggested I rent a bed. That did not go down well. I do not mind roughing it but for this amount of time the situation was disgusting. I could not even rent a hotel room because I have 4 large dogs to look after. Eventually they got a driver and my belongings were delivered to Charleston on 16thJuly. The Charleston franchise took it from there and drove it to my home. The driver from the local franchise knocked on my door and told me "Sorry to have to tell you this, but whoever loaded your belongings in AZ need to be fired ". The local driver took photos of the state of the trailer & sent them to his boss so he knew what they were up against. I finally got to sleep in my own bed on 16th July. My belongings were loaded on the 21st June. I examined the trailer before they started offloading. It was immediately obvious that a lot of damage had occurred. It was as if our belongings had just been thrown on. Our gun safe, treadmill was trashed, a sofa was ripped, the universal gym was scratched and was filthy dirty as was the stationary bike and elliptical. All my Pier 1 fancy candles had perished in the heat. They had all melted (18 days stuck in Phoenix where the average, daily temperature was 107F). Some melted candles had seeped through the Ziploc bags and spoilt other items. Both motorbikes were scratched and dented. Unpacking was painful. I was informed that I had 9 months to make a claim. I filed the claim towards the end of October 2021. I estimated $11.5K worth of damage. Sadly, the insurance experience was just as bad as the moving experience. I had to keep chasing them. An appraiser was eventually sent, he took photos and made notes. After this it all went quiet again. We were informed that we could have nothing repaired until the claim had been completed settled. They came back and stated the candles that were damaged and associated damage caused by the wax spoiling other items was not covered. This was because the insurance did not cover climatic issues. They then sent a check for about $5K which excluded the motorbike damage. They then said I needed an additional appraiser for the motor bikes. He estimated the damage to be $3k. Once again it all went quiet from the insurance team. I had to keep chasing them. I did not cash the first check since I was advised that the claim may be deemed to be settled if I cashed the check. Eventually, the insurance people came back and said, you can't claim for the motorbikes because you probably caused the damage riding them in SC. I wrote back and said as standard practice before the motorbikes are loaded on the trailer the mileage is recorded. They should be able to verify the loaders mileage against that of the appraiser. Eventually, I was awarded $1300 for repair, not even half of the estimate. Why use an appraiser if you are not going to use his estimates? At first, I was going to contest it, but they had beaten me down. I needed some closure and to be able to put this most ghastly experience behind me.

I had never used CubeSmart…read morebefore but was in search of a storage facility to house my personal belongings preparing for the sale of my home. Moving is taxing. I purposefully asked about the safety and crime at this location and was assured there were 24hour camera's covering the property and any necessity to review footage associated with my unit would be allowed. The purchase of insurance is apart of the contract and between Cubesmart's own representatives, security, and the insurance company, my belongings would be alright. You could imagine my surprise, as well as the moving company who was with me, as I opened my storage unit one month later and found my belongings stolen, package stuffing all over the floor. I hope you never have the misfortune of being robbed. To have the items that mean the most to you, collected over a lifetime, taken. After informing the Phoenix police I also discovered how unfriendly Cubesmart staff is when something negative happens on their property. One woman rolled her eyes and didn't even flinch at the idea there was a theft on the property. Little help was offered and she seemed focused on getting me out of the office and their faces. I was not confrontational, as I was still quite in shock. The movers who were with me attested to this. Including the $100 deductible for the insurance coverage associated with my contract I paid CubeSmart even though their not willing to share with me how long I was renting an empty space! I've gone online to share my story, in an effort to make the public aware of what happened to me at this location, and prevent anyone else from experiencing the violation and vulnerability that comes with being robbed. She turned several people away while helping me who were merely trying to pay for their monthly bill. It is hard to believe there was no other staff to take care of this or multitasking ability. Those customers should not have to come back to pay for their service. When I moved out, it was even worse. The latch that slides on the door would not slide after I removed my lock, so I couldn't get my storage space open. I called the front desk to have them call someone over to help me, and she asked me why I didn't have anything to spray on it. Why would I bring something to spray on the door? It isn't my facility to upkeep. Then she said that if I couldn't open it, that she probably couldn't. She said there was no maintenance man there on the weekend, so I'd have to come back. The whole point of me being there was because I needed the stuff then to move into my new place! I don't live super close to there and I shouldn't have to go back because they have old locks. Their job is to have a working facility, and luckily I got it open after a good 20 minutes with no help from them. This place doesn't just have awful customer service, it has NO customer service. I'm in the industry and have rarely experienced anything as bad as this. That manager needs to be retrained in hospitality for sure, and the facility needs to be updated at the very least. I definitely don't recommend this place for any reason.
